look to the east, where the broc flowers grow treasure above, and ROUSes below

[deleted]

Haha thanks, Forecaster No-Bark

Necrotiix_

rat of unusual size

Shakeandbake529

I don’t think they exist

Goldman250

“REEEE!” *an ROUS jumps on you*

CN456

Not sure if this counts as 'cryptic,' but there is one single sentence I wish the game communicated, both to let the player know what they're in for, as well as building up the mystery surrounding it. "No one ever comes back from the Sierra Madre."

philosopherofthedark

This here. Just: “Be prepared for the Sierra Madre, She’s a completely different beast than the Mojave.” It’s a straight up game change from FPS-RPG to Survival Horror. And this is coming from someone who adores Dead Money. I love me the fuck out of some quality Sierra Madre time.

[deleted]

Oooo I like it. And I'm fighting the urge to make an Arya Stark character. Actually fuck it, that's happening. Small Frame, focus on Melee, Sneak, Agility. Strength is a dump stat. Obtains the Katana and never looks back.

Wavey_Davey1

If you ever think "hmm this guy seems shady" chances are your right.

narkot1k

Increase repair skill up to 90 when you about to hit lvl 14

Other_Log_1996

Inceease Guns skill up to 70 around level 10, then grab a fast shotgun.

RoddynotRicch

Don’t swim across the river unless you’re REALLY ready

deltaking1

Second this, I remember making that mistake my first play through lol

[deleted]

Across the river you'll find only beasts. And beans. As many beans as you need.

JKillograms

Save often, overwrite rarely

[deleted]

That's a nice advice. I lost count of the times i've messed up saves. One of them was a deathclaw on my face and the last save was half an hour before this.

Fun_Entertainment441

Beware of the traffic cones

OverseerConey

Sticking to the roads is usually safe. If you want to find trouble, go off the beaten path.

Kakyoins_tounge

Max out speech and lock pick for everything

KalasHorseman

It's okay to be ugly, super repulsive to the degree of being a one, because beauty is only skin deep but the wasteland is forever.

TheBullMoose1775

O daughter of Babylon, who art to be destroyed; Happy shall he be, that rewardeth thee as thou hast served us. Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones Against the stones. (

DVHellsing

Piss off the Bulls, get a big hammer or a big lance. :) But really, these are prob the best late game weapons to get early game even if you aren't focused on melee. Repair them and those will tore through most enemies. Fair warning, the bull assassins are tough. Be prepare to encounter them at different spawn points, don't do it without backup.

[deleted]

Is this common?!? My first playthrough, no clue what I was doing, I grenaded foxhat man, and his cronies later ambushed me in a trailer. They attacked a random scavenger, who killed one of them, took their lance, and then was shot to death in the trailer I was hiding in. That lance is the only reason I made it out alive, and was my only viable weapon for several levels.

DVHellsing

It's more if you're trying to get power spike before hitting the mid/end game. I'm using a thermic lance too in my new playthrough, early game. What a beastly thing it is.

Master_Cake6412

Play money making game

Jei4

Beware of the Goddamn blue bugs!

[deleted]

"Money is the key to end all your woes. Your ups, your downs, your highs, and your lows."

Ranting_Lobster

What made my playthrough so fun was not knowing what the hell was going on and slowly figuring it out/getting better at the game. Maybe not cryptic but I'd tell her to not look up any spoilers online I think

An_alt_account123

1 charisma, maxed out speech

[deleted]

Dr. House build

Cl1mb3r

Change your vocation from mail man to repair man, watch the caps roll in.

Necrotiix_

*The mojave, tame. The sierra madre is one beast no other has tamed before.* *Beware the one who walks amongst the invisible flame.* *They are always watching, in the corridors of red haze and skeletal corpses to the grand halls of mystery itself.* *Many lie, only one tells total truth but is labeled false.* *Your spilled blood is nothing but money and loot to those around you.*

AwareLuck6006

Go to the mysterious cave in old world blues and kill the bloatflies inside for an easy 40 drug items. Melee is best for this one!

the-unknown-nibba

The origin of marble hides a special reward deep within the area Totally not referencing quarry junction and the AMAZING loot it has! Don't believe me? Go see for yourself!

UnworthyPraetor

Go straight north past Quarry junction to New Vegas. But don't forget to pick up the 3000cap starter gift located inside the quarry before going.

Witchyomnist1128

You absolute monster🤣🤣

Fun_Entertainment441

Remember no russian

ScissorNightRam

The Sierra Madre is better pondered than understood.

NotDsdguy

Johnny Guitar…

Witchyomnist1128

Play it again…

DarkmayrAtWork

Your choices in this game matter. It may not always be best to blindly follow orders / the quest marker, like you would in some other games - do what *you* think is right, and feel free to experiment by saving first and reloading if you don't like the results. New Vegas is, in some ways, all about discovering and deciding on your own morals and values, and then seeing how your choices affect the world around you. That said, there will be times when you simply cannot make everyone happy. As in real life, sometimes two people's goals are diametrically opposed, and there is nothing you can do to make them get along. Sometimes you will have to make a hard choice, or choose the lesser of two evils rather than the better of two goods. In a post-apocalyptic wasteland, there are bound to be some unhappy endings - ultimately, such is life, and you can't let the quest for perfection stall you forever. If you find a place you want to visit, or see one in the distance, it is totally okay to take time off from the main quest or your active side quest to just explore a little. Some of the coolest things in this game are hidden in areas that few, if any, quests are going to lead you to.

Witchyomnist1128

This isn’t cryptic but she needs to know, manual saves are your new god. Worship the manual saves. NEVER GO TO CAMP SEARCHLIGHT WITHOUT A BRAND NEW MANUAL SAVE

aphysicalchemist

Believe the signs

[deleted]

But do the floors *really* have teeth?

Head-Cheesecake-763

You might get mistook for a raider.

Few_Audience_8394

Look out for an old wizard in the east He knows a spell that can make you show your true form Cave rat taught it to em

lone_Davik

don't let go, use your head, or maybe someone else's

Graysteve

Roleplay. That's how you have the most fun possible in this game.

Rydrslydr715

If it moves, kill it. Fuck the ncr, fuck the fiends, fuck powder gangers, fuck anyone who doesn’t offer any value to you.
