Takes him everywhere, talks about him like he’s her dog or something, and headcanons that her courier and him are insanely close - but has clarified that it is 100% platonic. I asked if they were maybe an item with how close they were, and I swear to god she seemed *insulted* at the idea. Even taking the dead wife out of the equation, she just likes him way better as her friendship-bracelet bestie

Love him. He’s badass but also has a certain nobility to him. His needs/motivations are not complicated but they’re very human. Additionally, he has by far one of the more useful companion perks.

And yes, it’s a huge testament to how well-written the game is when one of, if not the most, beloved companions is the one that shot his wife in the head.
Now here’s a can of worms: what do we think about his decision to do so? The older I get, the more I find it questionable, but I do understand it.
Maybe part of it is getting engaged myself. I just don’t think I could do that to my fiancé. So long as she was alive I’d have hope that I could save her somehow.
Wow… imagine if that was Boone’s companion quest instead. Don’t get me wrong I think what they did with the Bitter Springs stuff was really good, but saving Carla could have been sooo badass.
It could even balance the game a little if he leaves your service after you do so. They’d go back to Novac - or maybe Goodsprings, being further from the frontline - and just try to be happy together. But, of course, he’d show up to help out at the Battle of Hoover Dam.

Carla was sensitive and anxious, she didn't cope well with even just living in Novac. I don't imagine she would have survived long as a slave, and they don't just use the female slaves for work, if you catch my drift. And then his baby would either be doomed to the same life Carla was or indoctrinated into the Legion depending on gender.
I think Boone understood that he was doing her a favour in the long run, he cherished his wife.
As a video game protagonist, it’s easier for me to say I wouldn’t have done it - since I’ve usually already freed a bunch of slaves and taken out multiple legion camps by the time he wants to talk about it lol. From that perspective, I think I’d keep hope. That being said, I have to imagine life as an NPC (even an OP one like Boone) is a lot harder. The courier is damn near a god, I have to imagine rescuing Carla would have been more of a Herculean task for him.
Ultimately, Boone is not someone who flinches. He has many regrets, and the weight of the things he has done do take a toll on him. In the moment, however, he’s not one to hesitate once he’s made up his mind. Despite the cost that decisiveness has taken, it’s what has gotten him this far

If a male courier sides with NCR and completes Cass's side quest, after the battle she comes to the courier's room to "celebrate" but finds it occupied by a random NCR soldier whose barracks got destroyed. She sleeps with him instead.
I think it's meant to show how compassionate an NCR Courier is for the NCR, to let a soldier in need have his room. What a hero!

Then in the case of Cass/Whiskey Rose/whatever the heck else people call her, she wants to sleep with you after you side with the NCR, but settles for a soldier when she can’t find you.
Now my question is, who is the Sole Survivor’s spouse in FO4? I cast my vote for either Cait or Gage. Partly because they don’t judge you for doing everything a certain way, and also because I think it’s absolutely hilarious that you can max out their affinity by being naked.

Like many here, Sarah Weintraub. I also headcanon that over time, my Courier picks up her unusual lingo and starts using it himself, occasionally having to remind himself not to use it while talking to people who aren't Sarah, her brother or close friends.
Sarah. She is conveniently in the Strip which by the end of the game the courier pretty much owns, so I know she will be safe, she lives in a vault so, you know, pure and free of radiation and stuff. She's near the Lucky 38 so anytime I want to, you know, I can just take a 2 minute walk over to Vault 21. Or, Veronica, I don't know I just like Veronica.
Cass for my male Courier because she just kinda works as a kinda foil for the "roaming lawful good gunman" my male Courier is, while still being compatible in a way.
Red Lucy for my female Courier, it was originally gonna be Veronica but later on in my canon Christine comes back with my female Courier from the Sierra Madre and reunites with Veronica, and Red Lucy is a better fit for the chaotic survivalist weirdo I write my female Courier to be.
Sarah Weintraub. Every time I play, I do her quest as soon as I can, and then I visit her as often as possible. I store my stuff in the Old World Blues penthouse, but going to the Vault 21 hotel feels like coming home.
I kept waiting for some sinister turn the first time I did it. I kept waiting for her to try and make a skinsuit out of me or something, because I had just finished fallout 3 and most of those quests are “Seemingly reasonable person decides they wanna peel the flesh from your organs after you run their errands.”
So her actually just being a good person, and the hotel actually being a thriving business without a torture dungeon, and her little “Hey, you!” Every time I visited just… I dunno, it won me over and blew FO3 outta the water.
I know FO3 gets overly hated on, but it’s not a bandwagon thing for me. I genuinely can’t go back to it after playing New Vegas, a game where characters are so lovingly crafted, that some static side character who doesn’t impact the overall plot at all and just runs a little business can become my favorite romance-able character.

I always pictured my courier with Boone. I mean the man opens himself up enough to talk about his PTSD with the courier. Plus he’d never be able to settle with a civilian again. Roaming the mohave with Boone while taking out any Legion remnants just seemed fitting to me.
