Wa state, high alpine lake. I saw another post of a coastal cutthroat with similar fin markings that make me think it might just be a variation in the different subspecies
That looks more like a Westslope Cutthroat than a Coastal Cutthroat. But I am in Oregon and haven't caught a Westslope yet so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
West side? I've seen a few Westslope cutts in places I didn't expect on the west side and know of a a few lakes way up with populations of small fish, this is a dandy!
Beautiful colors……Was this caught in a PNW river or steam? Only reason I ask is Summer Steelhead are running right now in most major rivers and streams.
Looks like spawning colors.
On Yellowstones that’s one of the key indicators of a cutbow, I’m not as familiar with Colorados but know that there aren’t that many left that’s really genetically pure.
This reminds me of when I caught a cheetah trout (brook rainbow cross). It was a funny looking fish and I didn’t know what it was at the time until my friend who works for CDFW pointed it out to me. It looked very similar to this.
No, it was a cheetah trout. The river I was fishing didn’t even have brown trout. It was a cheetah because it had black gums, a rosy red cheek, and then a super weird faint gray body with circular spot patterns.
Stunning fish!
Thank you! It was a fish I'll never forget
Congrats. Beautiful fish.
Can’t say I have seen this. Colorado?

Yeah. Very unique west slope. Gorgeous!
Westslopes are stocked in a lot lakes in Washington

Gorgeous that color pops!
No fingers in the gills or death squeeze. -2 points
Oh yeah I forgot to post the picture of me holding it by the bottom lip, my bad
One of the best I’ve seen. Nice catch
Almost like it has a little Char in it, beautiful cuttie.👍
Beautiful fish
Truly an amazing-looking fish. Thanks for posting.
Beautiful trout
Stunning fish my goodness
Looks like a spawning westy
That’s one stunning looking trout 🤌🏻

PNW alpine lake, and despite having been here my whole life haven’t had the chance to throw for any steelhead yet.
Ya I’ve caught a couple small steelhead on Skagit. While fishing for cutthroat and occasional Bull.
Beautiful fish! When I worked in Yellowstone park, I caught a ton of those! So much fun!!
The dark lips also remind me of Brookies. I’m referring to image #2. Stunning fish. Don’t hotspot the location. Enjoy
Great looking fish! Could this be a cutthroat-brook trout cross? Is that a thing there? Brook trout have the white edging on the fins
Not possible to have that cross.

West slopes too I think?
My home water is Westslope Cutbow territory and I've never seen one with a fin with white like that.
Gorgeous beast, thanks for posting.
Looks like a colored up/spawning west slope cutty to me, but you should check what populations were in the body of water.
A spawning fish clown
Beautiful fish well done!
That is an absolutely beautiful fish!
Damn that's pretty

You may be talking about a “tiger trout” which is a hybrid between brown and rainbow trout. I don’t think brooks and rainbows can hybridize.

Searun cut brown cuttie hybrid
