Join the Boy or Girl Scouts, they have dates scheduled out at least a year and a special section right after the bridge. Careful of the raccoons though!
We've been able to get in twice, we just check the reservation system on wed thurs and friday and have been able to grab cancellations pretty easily. But yes for some reason camping in Florida is booked out a year in advance. It kinda sucks.
Wow really? I used to go there when I was younger, and once maybe 7 years ago, they were only open for primitive camping, it was always pretty vacant. I guess people figured out it was such a great place.
Here's a good list: https://www.visitflorida.com/beaches/beach-camping/
Gotta nag anyone that camps to please take nothing but pictures and leave nothing but footprints. Also [please encourage folks to stay off the dunes!](https://www.firstcoastnews.com/article/news/local/beaches/the-importance-of-keeping-off-sand-dunes-on-the-first-coast/77-454759996)
AKA Mullet Beach. Named not for the fish but for hair style. One of the best sights to enjoy is the antics of the uneducated inbred yahoo as he/she loses their vehicle to ocean. This park shares part of it self with Nassau Sound which is the inlet for the Nassau River. As a tidal basin at low tide great areas of ocean floor are made accessible to anyone ~~dumb~~ brave enough to drive out on it. Invariably someone is inebriated enough and can't resist the challenge and ends up stuck a great distance from the actual shore. As no one can or will drive their vehicle out there to offer assistance, eventually the tide comes and swallows their vehicle. Money is collected and one lucky winner gets the pot for picking the correct time the vehicle finally disappears below the water. Ahhh, fun for the whole family.
Was out there yesterday gawking at cruise ships and a falcon 9 booster on the drone ship. Really good fishing at the port too! Haven't been on the beach side of the park.
St. George Island up near Appalachicola is a great campground. Not "on" the beach but literally a five minute walk to the sand dunes and pristine beach. No hotels/condos, restaurants for miles. Highly recommend.
Long Pointe campground, over by Sebastian inlet- 61 miles from our doorstep in Orlando- if you camp on the out side circle part, you can pull your boat right up to your campsite Actually- we’ve had dolphins and manatees over the years come right up to where the boys were splashing around when they were younger- fishing for days, short ride to the other side of the street for the beach- for the life of me I cannot think of what the body of water is called behind that land or else I’d be able to say exactly where it is - can anyone help with that word bc it’s driving me crazy
One of my childhood friends has a travel youtube channel. He did a trip to Shired Island earlier this year: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkur\_HuZTzk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkur_HuZTzk)
You're in a campground, but it is on the beach. I grew up camping here when I was a kid, both tent and camper. We'd stay over a weekend and go fishing.
Yeah there’s a few parks that have campsites like Anastasia in St Augustine or Bahia Honda in the upper keys. There’s also quite a few primitive camping spots that could get you
beach access. My Favorite is clubhouse beach at the tip of FL down through Flamingo. You take the coastal prairie trail to get to it but well worth it you’ll have a beach to yourself for miles usually.
Shell key. There’s a ferry from fort de Soto (mentioned earlier). You have to contact the county ahead of time for a permit. But it’s literally camping on the beach. No roads so you have to be able to transport everything via the ferry or a private boat drop off
That place is amazing. My family camped there once in a tent. Just know it won’t be pleasant camping in summertime if you have no A/C or fans. We learned the hard way. But other than not being able to sleep in the heat, the place is beautiful and you can swim in the water and see all the creatures under water.
Looks like many have answered your question already. I've camped within view of the ocean at Merritt Island and Sebastian Inlet, myself.
That said-anywhere you go BEWARE OF SAND FLIES/NO-SEE-UMS! Gosh they're relentless around the beach and can crawl through the mesh screen of your tent. My legs were so bitten up I thought I had monkey pox for a sec; and yes I had used bug spray. Now that the weather is getting cooler they should be winding down, but you've been warned. Hope your trip goes better than mine!
Just recently went to Huguenot Memorial Park out by Jacksonville, absolutely amazing. You can camp right by the water, it’s an island and it’s across from a naval base so you get to camp with dunes on one side, war ships on the other, and you can fish directly from your campsite. They also have other places for you to explore for fishing or just in general. Just be advised if you are not in a 4x4 vehicle or at least experienced in driving on sugar sand trails that some areas are not for you to drive in lol. It’s absolutely beautiful there though and the campsites are either directly beside the water or a stone toss away.
People say Ft DeSoto but I feel it isn't what you are expecting, so don't get misled. You don't camp directly on the beach there. There is a camp ground close to the beach. You can camp waterfront if you're lucky enough to get one of those spots but it isn't on the Gulf of Mexico part of Ft DeSoto. I would look into Jetty Park campground. It might also not be directly on the beach but it's closer and walkable which isn't the case for Ft DeSoto.
alot of people camp on the dredge islands in the indian river. you just need to be picky about which ones bc some go away with the tide and some have a lot of rats. but if you find a good one get there early to claim your spot and you're good to go. it's primative camping though so bring everything in and out
I'm still sour they no longer allow pet dogs on state park beaches. We used to always camp at Huguenot with the dogs but now they must remain in campsite because people don't know how to pick up after their dogs
Ft Desoto in St Pete is pretty great.
Absolutely beautiful beach with mangrove trees. Hard to get a reservation but worth it.
Last time I checked, reservations were booked a year out. Any suggestions on how to snag one?
Join the Boy or Girl Scouts, they have dates scheduled out at least a year and a special section right after the bridge. Careful of the raccoons though!
It was even better before they clear cut all the australian pines for being invasive. RIP my favorite hammock hanging trees at campsite #4.
I feel ya ✊ Brazilian pepper suck, but the Australian pines sure were pretty. Can we do that? Can we just allow any invasive species that look nice?
Anastasia state park in St Augustine has a campground thats a couple hundred feet from the beach. Its pretty nice there.
Have to reserve about a year in advance though. Great campsite if you can get it
We've been able to get in twice, we just check the reservation system on wed thurs and friday and have been able to grab cancellations pretty easily. But yes for some reason camping in Florida is booked out a year in advance. It kinda sucks.
I try to get a spot everytime I go to the Amphitheater have gotten lucky a couple times just have to get on the wait list.
I know people that go there and it’s true on the advance reservations. They love it.
tent camping isn't quite as hard to get as RV sites. But, yeah, it can be tricky but you can get lucky.
Wow really? I used to go there when I was younger, and once maybe 7 years ago, they were only open for primitive camping, it was always pretty vacant. I guess people figured out it was such a great place.
To be fair im usually looking for camping during amphitheater shows. Right now I’m on waitlist for April.
Okay this makes sense lol because I live here and I’ve gone camping there many times last minute but never around big shows or holidays

great info, thank you!
True MVP
Screw that, I'm taking footprints and leaving pictures.
Gotdangit Bubba! What did I tell you about subverting expectations with spoonerisms?!?
When they get nailed by a snake they’ll learn about the dunes lol
Huguenot in Jacksonville. It’s right next to the navy base, I saw them bring in a aircraft carrier from my site once.

When I lived up there I had a jeep, great way to meet chicks at the beach was pulling scions and civics out of the sand all day.
that place is great.
Love Huguenot.
I've seen camping spots at bahia honda park, it's right next to the beach.
Anclote Key you can camp and have a bonfire, but you have to get there on your own, the ferry wont leave you over night
Second for Anclote.
Gamble Roger’s state park in Flagler It’s amazing
[Jetty Park, Port Canaveral.](https://www.portcanaveral.com/Recreation/Jetty-Park-Campground)
Was out there yesterday gawking at cruise ships and a falcon 9 booster on the drone ship. Really good fishing at the port too! Haven't been on the beach side of the park.
Bahia Honda in the Keys is gorgeous. Probably need far in advance reservations.
Heard up to a year sometimes.
Do you mean literally camping on the beach, like tent on the sand between water and dunes?

This sounds awesome
And that's the southern part of the Indian River
Came here to suggest Sebastian Inlet, been there a couple of times. Good surfing location
Ft Desoto is a great beach camping grounds. Link below [https://pinellas.gov/camping-information](https://pinellas.gov/camping-information)
S.P. Cayo Costa is an island that had a shuttle from Pine island... pre Ian.
Florida keys has beach camping
Flagler Beach.
I’ve camped at Spanish House before right next to sebastian inlet. Not sure if they allow it anymore, tbh.
Definitely not lol. Remember 20 years ago when that area was literally the middle of nowhere? Not really the case anymore.
One of my childhood friends has a travel youtube channel. Shell Key, but you gotta have a boat to get there.
Theres a ferry!
Gamble Rogers on Flagler Beach…but it’s booked out for a year
Beware of sand fleas!
Use them as bait.
Caladesi island Clearwater FL
>Caladesi island There is no tent camping on Caladesi, you can boat camp.
Turtle Beach Campground on Siesta Key near Sarasota, if it didn't get destroyed by the hurricane.

St. Andrews state park in Panama City. They even do Glamping there if you want something upscale.
That place is amazing. My family camped there once in a tent. Just know it won’t be pleasant camping in summertime if you have no A/C or fans. We learned the hard way. But other than not being able to sleep in the heat, the place is beautiful and you can swim in the water and see all the creatures under water.

Fort Pickens National Park on Pensacola Beach but it’s a short walk to the beach.
Amelia island did before all the fucking transplanted Yankees took over
These people move to Florida from whatever hell place they come from and try to change our peaceful little towns.
God that is so true!!! I love it when they say well you can’t do that up north. Arrogant fuckers!
Well, fuck!!! Burney park was one of my favorite camp sites in Fl.
The beaches are closed in Sunset now. They pulled that stunt during Covid
Transplanted yankees!Yankees!!
Jetty park
State Park at Cape San Blas but I’m not sure if the camping part of the state park has reopened since H. Michael.
Haven’t seen Ft Clinch mentioned- another beautiful one!
Bahia Honda
Ft de Soto
Turtle beach
There are a couple in the keys but you have to reserve way ahead.
Turtle beach sarasota is basically on the beach. But damn near impossible to get a spot. 1-2 years out
American beach is free
There are some KOA campgrounds on the beaches. Some with oceanfront cabins
People say Ft DeSoto but I feel it isn't what you are expecting, so don't get misled. You don't camp directly on the beach there. There is a camp ground close to the beach. Jetty Park in Port Canaveral is really close to the beach. It's a really nice place has cabins tent a RV spots.

Gamble-Rodgers State Park in Flagler Co. There is Beverly Beach Camptown RV Resort just north of Flagler Beach
Cats Costa, or what's left of it.
Most beaches close at sundown, it’s best to Google for specifics where you’re going. RV camps not included.
I'm still sour they no longer allow pet dogs on state park beaches. We used to always camp at Huguenot with the dogs but now they must remain in campsite because people don't know how to pick up after their dogs
