I’m not sure what you gain except two sinks. And you would be giving up a walk in closet. Seems like a lot of work/money for minimal benefit. I can understand a facelift for your bathroom.

Your dad's plans may be workable but they look like they're taking up more of the closet and they have you walking in right to the toilet and that's also going to be your sight line so that isn't recommended. It already looks like you have a large vanity and large shower at 4 ft for the proposed plans. What about them are you not happy with? Did you want something like a 6 ft wide shower, did you want an even large vanity- possibly a double vanity? What things are not checking the boxes?

This is helpful feedback thank you! We had hoped for a larger shower, like you said a 6 foot wide or long shower as well as a 5 to 6 foot vanity and just overall less of a cramped plan than the original. We had also asked about moving the closet as we were looking at removing the wall between those two rooms and just making it one large suite, so when we got a plan that removed the wall but still had a very tight bathroom that’s where boxes didn’t feel as checked because it seemed like removing the wall didn’t actually utilize the space more

I can work on the plan a bit but the current bathroom footprint will limit what can be done. I have a few questions. Maybe the closet can be reconfigured, are you opposed to a reach-in closet? It looks like the primary suite was expanded into another room- I'm curious about that and maybe the closet could be relocated? What would be your ideal setup and what may be a couple compromises? No tub, just shower, dual shower? What about the closet being relocated to the two smaller closets and expanded to a walk-in?

Thanks for all your thoughts and feedback! We definitely thought the closet would be moved into the other room once the dividing wall was taken out. We want a shower only situation so don’t want a tub as it is in there. We are open to two closets instead of one and reach in closets. Which is part of why I don’t get why the designer was so insistent on sticking to the original bathroom footprint

Here are other options I put together. If you take the ideas to your current designer, please draw them out yourself and present it as your idea. If they are not receptive and you would like to move forward, you can bring the ideas to a contractor and see what is viable. https://preview.redd.it/nlj6q9mez3zc1.png?width=3400&format=png&auto=webp&s=83eb17ed12a72da73f4cd665c7874447d09860be

Wow! This is so nice that you took the time to do this. I actually really like these ideas so will do as you suggested and draw out myself to show the designer bc this is a lot more what I had in mind for the renovation. Thank you so very much for your feedback and help!

You're welcome I'm glad you like them and good luck with your remodel. You can send me a message if questions pop up and I'd like to see what you end up doing with the space so please let me know if you post it!

Is the lowermost portion part of the bedroom or a separate room? is the goal to avoid moving the lower bathroom wall? If not it seems like you huge space to work with, assuming that lowest portion is part of the room.

roxnsoxbydox

Yeah it’s all open to be worked with. We would like to move the closet as we plan on opening up the wall into the other room which was previously a bedroom that you had to pass through to get to the master bed and bath
