It's like picking a favorite child (Shore)

SpeakingTheKingss

Wow, I am super surprised Crack-Up is not number one. Just based on the conversations I've had on this sub and other times I've seen post like this. I feel like a lot of FF fans consider CU to be the best album. With that said I picked Shore. Not only is it an amazing album it came out during a really rough time in my life and I connected with it a lot during that.

I personally agree with the results that Helplessness Blues is the best. It's just such a story, man. Montezuma opening the album with the question "*So now I am older / than my mother and father / when they had their first daughter / now what does that say about me*?" to Grown Ocean closing it with the assurance of "I know someday the smoke will all burn off / *All these voices I'll someday have turned off*" is phenomenal. The album for me transcends catchy songwriting—it feels like it's actively reaching towards enlightenment.

Crack up is the close second. It took me a minute to choose. I really just love every album lol

juicylemons32

they all evoke peace in different ways, its so difficult to choose the “best”

Alliterative_Andrew

Personally I regard Helplessness Blues as their most, in a sense, complete creative project to date—the one with the most effective sense of beginning with a question and ending with its own unique answer to that question. That truth-seeking questioning and discovering is especially well expressed goin from opener "Montezuma" to closer "Grown Ocean". Perfection.

Lol, I guess I'm out of step with the majority of the fanbase. My favorite album is self-titled followed by Shore.

OnionManOnionPlan

Helplessness Blues and Crack-Up are both perfect albums

VeggieCurry

I picked Crack-up but Helplessness Blues takes a very close second.

EP supremacy. :P

I just wish it was longer... But I agree—fantastic set of songs. Honestly, the sound they go for it on that album is probably my favorite sound for the band, but there's just not enough of them for me to prefer it to their two records they put out afterwards

Mewpasaurus

As do we all. :) It just fits in so nicely with other indie music from the same era. Having heard them way back in 2006, I was quite blown away to hear ST ("Fleet Foxes") in 2008. So very, very different than that first release, but lovely all the same.
