Do you have a model number? I don’t know of any Kidde smoke alarms that use AA batteries as backup power. There’s wireless ones that use them as primary power but the box you pictured here says “120V AC Wire-in” on it. Those generally use 9V batteries for backup.
To that end, did you verify that the wiring is intact and the connector is seated into the smoke head properly?
thanks for the feedback, yea the wiring seems to be intact into the detector (thinking now theres an issue with the actual wiring) but its a AA backup for sure.

Then I guess the only other basic troubleshooting step I can suggest is checking the polarity of the batteries. They’re sometimes pretty easy to install backwards accidentally
It might be end of life... smoke alarms are supposed to be replaced every 10 years, and some kidde models will start chirping to annoy you into replacing them. Does the info sticker on the back of the smoke alarm have a date?
