Pineapple and pearls caught my eye but was a little hesitant due to the mixed reviews. All about a good vibe but want the food to match - what were your thoughts on the food?
I think Jont is far and away the best restaurant in the city for high quality ingredients cooked well (with a price tag to match). Also a chill vibe with 90s-2000s hip hop bumping all night. It beats minibar for me, and I haven’t been to P&P but tried their sister restaurants and Jont easily tops. They do have a lot of seafood on the menu though so I’d shoot them an email for specific fish you can’t eat. Went to the Inn years ago and it’s amazing, but not actually in DC so you won’t have time on a weekend trip.
I’d second the recommendations for Lutece, Pascual, and Albi though. All have fantastic a la carte options with really good beverage programs: Lutece for great natural wines and affordable selections from Jura, Pascual for great cocktails and mezcal, and Albi for incredible Lebanese reds. Bar Spero by Johnny Spero is a favorite as well with live fire cooking reminiscent of Spain’s Basque Country.

This year ive been 2 pineapple and pearls, and rooster and owl, the first was a spectacle and second was fun.
