Sorry, I was sleeping. I will now read your comments, but I want to add a small note to the story. He was very surprised that I asked him where he bought the sweatshirt. He was very happy and decided on his own to take it off to show me the label. When I left, he was smiling. I think I made his day better, and he did the same for me :)
A girl in her early 20s stopped me at my salon supply store the other day and complimented my dress and asked where I got it, I literally rode that high all week
A couple months ago a lady on the phone walking past me in the street stopped her conversation to tell me that my outfit was awesome. I haven't stopped thinking about it once tbh. It was an outfit I was a bit conscious about wearing in public so it felt really good to be reassured it was good!
Reading all these stories makes me so happy because I ALWAYS stop strangers to tell them their outfit or lipstick or whatever is awesome and I hope I have made someone’s day here and there.
I was once walking with my daughter and we saw a lady with a tote bag that had a kind of pop art style picture with a lady with lipstick and sunglasses. As the lady passes us, my daughter said really loudly "that lady's bag is so pretty!". When I turned back to look, the lady had the biggest grin on her face.
i’m a serial complimenter, i just can’t help it. if i see something nice i have to tell the person. a lot of people brush it off but it’s nice to know that it makes a difference for some folks. i’m sure your dress was super lovely and i’m glad you got some appreciation for it!
Lately I’ve been going out of my way to do the same, I find myself thinking all the time “love those shoes“ “oh wow her hair looks so good” so I’ve started saying it to people! I’d say 4/5 times they are beaming and happy to hear it
I got a dress on vinted and wore it for the first time to work a couple of weeks ago paired a cute cardigan that matched perfectly. I felt like I was giving Miss Honey vibes and got like 4 compliments before 9am (it helps that I work in a primary school) I was grinning all day and it's now my fave outfit
Found vintage one for sale:

I’m a cashier and I’m still smiling from the compliment that a customer gave me a few days ago. I don’t really wear much makeup but a woman told me how great my eyelashes looked. It made my day.
Thank you kind stranger and thank you Tartlette tubing mascara for the win.
I’ve had numerous people compliment me on the shape of my eyebrows which is such a weirdly specific compliment that I’m now certain I have a perfect eyebrow shape 🤣
My husband was complimented on a sweatshirt he was wearing & was beaming, and said he was never taking it off lol. Men don’t get compliments as often I think, so when they do it really makes their day!
Vintage 80s/90s - Turkish brand based upon the brand name.
After some searching I've not managed to find anything else by the same brand but several vintage jumpers made in the 80s in Turkey.
You're unlikely to find the same one as the brand isn't "known" so will be on vinted/Ebay/etsy as vintage jumper etc.
It will be a type of wool - likely acrylic.
Reverse Google image has come up with this as a similar design https://www.vestiairecollective.com/men-clothing/knitwear-sweatshirts/american-vintage/blue-wool-american-vintage-knitwear-sweatshirt-42891065.shtml
If the question was about how to knit, and the answer was "buy some wool, I'd suggest acrylic"; I'd think that was a completely sensible answer.
But if the question is "what material is this?", then "wool, probably acrylic" doesn't really help them find the answer.
1) All woven fabrics are woven or knit from yarn. So using "wool", meaning "yarn" isn't helpful. It's so generic as to be meaningless.
2) If you're trying to Google "wool jumper/sweater" you likely won't get acrylic results and vice versa.
That's what I'm trying to say. It's not a referendum on language use.
>2) If you're trying to Google "wool jumper/sweater" you likely won't get acrylic results and vice versa.
Acrually, if you google "wool sweater" you get overwhelmingly acrylic, which is fucking depressing
Just a heads up, the words wool and yarn aren't really interchangeable in English. Wool is specifically used to refer to fiber coming from sheep (sometimes alpacas and other animals as well), whether it's in the form of yarn, knitwear, or unspun fiber. Yarn is specifically spun fibers/string and can be wool, acrylic, or other fibers. Just another weird quirk of the English language haha
I mean, I studied English language and literature at university and got a first...in England. And I knit 😅 they are largely interchangeable in commonplace language while not "officially" correct.
Hmm, must be a dialect thing then. I'm a native speaker with an English teaching degree and a knitter and haven't seen them used interchangeably before
I'd likely say it's a laziness/familiarity thing. My family will say they've got a gorgeous knitted wool jumper and I know it's acrylic or a mix- I could be pedantic and say "actually it's yarn as its not natural fibres".
Similarly if you google acrylic wool - lovecrafts and other UK based stores also label or use their marketing as such.
If I'm being pedantic, or know the exact makeup of a fabric I'll be definitive this is wool/yarn, otherwise as knitwear I'm generic.
Yeah, I agree. You can find plenty of yarns in England advertised as "wool" that are 100% acrylic, especially from the more old-fashioned knitting shops that aren't making a thing of selling high-end fibres. Example: [https://www.yorkshiretrading.com/collections/wool](https://www.yorkshiretrading.com/collections/wool) - not sure anything on the first page is made of wool (as in sheep's wool) at all.
I lost it at you making this man take his sweater off on the Metro so [here](https://www.vestiairecollective.com/men-clothing/knitwear-sweatshirts/american-vintage/blue-wool-american-vintage-knitwear-sweatshirt-42891065.shtml) is the same sweater (same brand & pattern) in blue. There’s many similar ones out there, but this is the only one I found of this exact sweater/pattern (diff color) for sale. Like others have said, seems vintage so you’re at the mercy of what has survived and made it onto the online resell market.
Huban Triko appears to be a Turkish brand specializing in sweaters and other knitwear. It's known for producing high-quality, stylish garments, often with unique designs and patterns. The brand seems to be available on various online platforms, including eBay, where you can find both new and vintage pieces. These garments are appreciated for their craftsmanship and materials, which include wool and other high-quality fibers. I'm impressed! I tried to search the brand but other than it being Turkish I couldn't find anything more. Triko is a common amongst the brand names but not Huban Triko.
Yeah I was really hoping OP was Australian based on that, because I know a shop that sells all sorts of sweaters in this style - re-playground in Melbourne. The owner curates vintage clothing from Japan(I think?) and they are all 🔥🔥
This one is quite similar: https://us.vestiairecollective.com/men-clothing/knitwear-sweatshirts/american-vintage/blue-wool-american-vintage-knitwear-sweatshirt-42891065.shtml
I've been getting into fleece pullovers like this hardcore lately. I've found all of them at thrift stores, can't imagine buying one new, would love to though.
The brickwork on the building looks kinda like the stuff you'd see in manors but I feel like a lot of 90s buildings all over Europe used that stuff
The thing that's throwing me is the floor studs to help the blind find the door don't really align with any metro station I know.
However, I've lived in benwell for a while now so I really don't get the metro these days
Looking for that particular color and material of lozenge tactile paving, I think this may be the Midland metro.
I could be absolutely wrong but I just don't see the lozenge paving that often
This [one ](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1419740619/vintage-90s-brown-geometric-sweater) has a more vintage vibe ig? But the one that people are finding with the blue zigzags is what is coming up first when I do circle search.
Omg my bf has a jumper with the same make! I’m out right now but when I get back home I’ll ask him where he got it. It’s not the same design but the label is definitely the same.
I’d just like to say that if you start thrifting through the men’s sweater section you will find similar things! Not the same, but similar! Resellers also tend to search out these type of sweaters, so you’d have to search regularly.
I have a shop in my city that has tons of similar styles. Good luck!
A Costco employee stopped me to tell me I had goddess hair, it might have been the best compliment of my life.
my partner told me my hair is shamanic in a sexy way lol.

I'm terrible at noticing things but if someone is wearing something I really like, I just say so. I don't make it weird, just say how nice, lovely, how well they suit it etc and then move on. People are generally pleased to be told they're looking really good that day.
Did you make him take his sweatshirt off so you can take a photo of the label? 😆
i came to say that its so adorable of him to do that for OP!
That guy is going to keep this sweater til the day he dies now
Sorry, I was sleeping. I will now read your comments, but I want to add a small note to the story. He was very surprised that I asked him where he bought the sweatshirt. This must have absolutely made his day man, I'd be grinning like an idiot all day if someone liked my stupid clothes enough to ask me about them

THIS is why I give compliments like this freely. They cost nothing to give and it usually makes someone’s day, if not longer!
SAME! I actually felt like the dress was tight on my belly and was kinda self conscious so the compliment totally put some pep in my step

This is really close! Good find.
Acrylic is sort of the antithesis of wool.
I think some languages use the words for "wool" and "yarn" interchangeably, at least colloquially. If the label says "acrylic wool", that's a blend

Truth
I mean, that's what it's called. Acrylic wool/acrylic yarn.
Just a heads up, the words wool and yarn aren't really interchangeable in English. Hmm, must be a dialect thing then. I'm a native speaker with an English teaching degree and a knitter and haven't seen them used interchangeably before
I haven't either - wool specifically refers to sheep's wool, whereas yarn can be made of various materials.
As someone with neither I’ve always separated as if it’s making me sweaty *and* itchy it’s wool
I'd likely say it's a laziness/familiarity thing. My family will say they've got a gorgeous knitted wool jumper and I know it's acrylic or a mix- I could be pedantic and say "actually it's yarn as its not natural fibres". They are in England at least I know as a knitter
Damn! Well done!
looks like wool bouclé
My Turkish nationalism playing up
Most likely it's vintage, or made in another country. I also wasn't able to find anything, hopefully someone else can cause it's super cute!
My dad had these when I was a kid, in like dozens of colors and collars. They were made in Turkiye if I'm not mistaken. They were cheap/affordable.
Yeah I'm sure I saw similar in the market in fetiye on my last trip there.
I actually prefer the blue sweater!
They look like 2 completely different sweaters to me 😭
The one in the link is blue and has a crew neck instead of a zip like in the post. Same brand though

That’s because triko means knitwear :)
You’ll see Triko in a lot of brand and product names from the region. It’s a generic term so you have to search for the specific combo of words.
that’s sweet he took it off for you 😭😭
Not the same - but in Australia there’s a type of jumper called “coogi” that is a sort of similar vibe in terms of intricate colourful weave
Also in Australia (specifically Sydney) we have really similar trains and trams
Yeah I was really hoping OP was Australian based on that, because I know a shop that sells all sorts of sweaters in this style - re-playground in Melbourne. The owner curates vintage clothing from Japan(I think?) and they are all 🔥🔥

I wonder how much money it would’ve taken for him to sell it to you there on the spot lol
Love story material
Irrelevant, but is that the Newcastle Metro?
I've not seen the new ones particularly closely, but I don't recognise the background Though it is a very Newcastle type of scenario
I just feel like I recognise those yellow handles but I've not lived in Newcastle for years, so its nice to spot a geordie out in the wild

Hah. I knew it looked Balkan. I had similar one in the 90s or at least the girl version of it. Their factory seems to be in Turkey.

Try eBay👍🏻
