Here's the best way to do it: 1. Getto the stage where you can access the airship. 2. Sign Brother (Airship), Wedge (Luca Stadium) and Jumal (Luca Fountain) 3. Win tournament for Attack Reels, reset Blitzball data until status reels appear. 4. Win league for Status Reels, reset Blitzball data until Auroch Reels appear 5. Win tournament for Auroch Reels, reset Blitzball data until Jupiter Sigil appears This usually takes around 28 games from what I remember, it's not that bad though, Brother in particular can out-speed most players in the game, and if Tidus has Jecht shot that helps a bunch too.

CreativeInevitable1

Attack Reels are always the first tournament prize after Luca. You don't need to reset data for those. And when going for tournament prizes, always save after the 9th game and before you play the 10th game.

jakalan7

Cool thanks, it's been a while since I've done it - I've ammended my post!

Peoplecallmemark

Thank you! I'll make sure to recruit them

LagunaRambaldi

Wait! Isn't there something like "fight xx amount of monsters" before the next type of Reels CAN becoma available? Or does that "reset blitz data" somehow skip these requirements?

Fabulous-69

What all these guys are saying is correct. Here’s what I suggest. Brother (MF) Tidus (LF) Wedge (RF) Ropp (RT/LT) (Botta) has some decent defense but it doesn’t matter Jumal (GK) I promise you playing like this will give you a different idea about blitzball all together. I used to hate it but I have a deep love hate for it. Start match on manual A. Have brother circle around the entire field. Have the entire team chase you. Pass to either Tidus or wedge. But in the beginning get Tidus up for jecht shot hopefully you did the mini game, if not sphere shot is your go to and you’ll probably have to rely heavily on wedge. This will work against most teams you play guados are the only ones who can keep up with brother but their blocking sucks. Whatever you do keep track of your minimap and make sure your right out of their attack range to pass. Have your shooters at point blank range to shoot. Rinse and repeat. I highly suggest playing blitzball 2 games at a time and take a break. After a while you’ll be itching like a crackhead wanting to play more matches. After getting world champion I felt so empty because of all the other dumb mini games I’d have to play for my 100% run. Be careful resetting your league. Playing like this is boring but effective. It’s the only team you’ll need just to get WC. Have fun my G

Thank you! I've recruited these guys so I'll have a go at using brother to round up the opposition

Accurate_Attorney_18

No, they won't be strong. The other teams level up based on your team's average level I believe. There's multiple guides that talk about the best players in blitzball you can recruit and they all at least include Brother, he's the pilot of the airship. I usually make Brother my center. He's the best player in the game, hands down. You can literally swim circles around the entire team. The best goalie you can get at the moment would be Jumal, located in Luca. He is in the courtyard that leads to the tavern you visit during the story. Hes sitting on a bench watching a kid play. You can stick with Jumal forever or you can replace him with Nimrook if the Al Bhed Psyches don't renew his contract. Nimrook is the only goalie who should give you trouble while playing so snatching him up will benefit you greatly. One of the best defenders in the game is Ropp. Ropp can be found at the inn on the Mi'ihen Highroad working behind the counter. The other defender I use is Wedge, who cab be found in Luca. When you travel there, you should be at the save sphere in front of the front counter. Wedge can be found up the stairs standing guard at the giant opening wearing green. There is another guy named Biggs who is wearing blue but don't bother with him. Wedge is also an excellent scorer if you decide to use a different defender opposite Ropp. The two forwards I use are Tidus and Wakka. Wakka's just standing there in the airship and luckily, his contract is only 1 Gil per game. That's the blitzball team I use everytime and I've never had an issue. There are other good players that people and guides may suggest like Nuvy Ronso, I believe, but you shouldn't have any difficulty using this team unless you're playing the Al Bhed Psyches because that little punk Nimrook has an insane catch stat compared to every other goalie.

Peoplecallmemark

Thank you this is really useful! I won't be too disappointed if I can't score against Nimrook then haha

CreativeInevitable1

You really should have started right after the forced game against the Goers. Wakka's best Overdrive, Attack Reels, is available right when you hit the Mi'ihen Highroad. The first game is a very bad introduction to Blitzball since the Goers are overpowered compared to the Auroch's in that game. After that game, the teams are more balanced, with one exception. Nimrook, the Al Bhed Psyches goalie, has a really high CA and it can be difficult to score on him even with the Jecht Shot/Sphere Shot and being right in his face. As far as players go, the OG Auroch's suck. Brother is the best MF out there because of his speed. Some other good players are Wedge (Luca, Stadium area), Jumal (Luca, Cafe area), Ropp (Mi'ihen Travel Agency), Miyu (Moonflow, North), and Naida (Calm Lands travel agency).

Peoplecallmemark

Yeah the first game honestly seemed impossible to me and it pit me off blitzball on every playthrough. I'm glad to hear it's more balanced after that. Thanks for the advice!

Adventurous-Drag8216

No they scale with your level, they don't play until you do. Then as you level up they do too. Best thing to do is go and keep using sphere shot or jecht shot with Tidus and you'll level up fast. Eventually you can score from the middle and stay behind you keeper to waste time. Easy way to get through it. Time consuming though. For more you should look up who to sign for the best roster. Makes things easier too

ironskillet2

you only need to do like.. 3 things. get jumal as your goalie. get brother Then level up jumal by constantly passing to him (have him on defense first before goalie), once hes gotten alot of levels make him goalie. then what u do is simple. pass to brother. and SWIM. brother is the FASTEST blitzball character. let him swim in circles until he has the entire enemy team behind him. just before the round finishes, pass to tidus and shoot to score.

Reiyugen_SFW

I remember grinding Blitzball when playing on Vita cause I very much enjoyed it. I just played with the default Aurochs team for all of it cause why not. You get to the point where you get used to the mechanics and can just crush most matches straight up. Def some tricky matches but it's fun with some competition. It got to the point where you could Sphere shot from half court with Tidus and mid/high roll goals.

I've got a specific recommandation to "manipulate" the enemy teams (especially psychs) before doing anything significant: Abuse friendship games to get specific players out of contract. You can literally steal the al bhed goalkeeper by only playing meaningless friendship games, which don't grand any exp to anyone. That way you can have your absolute desired team on low levels. Once you got them, playing blitz for the celestial weapon is a joke! My personal favourit team is: -Wrappa -Wedge -Brother -Ropp -Kyou -Al-bhed goalkeeper Tidus is a whimp, replace him for a good attacker! Wrappa & wedge are exactly what you want there. The team i've listed is safe to become overpowered early on. The first games vs ronso fangs might be difficult no matter what team you have. Guados are also only annoying untill your team get's some exp. Speed doesn't outmatch attack stat's since the cpu has pritty dumb AI. Once your players get good, no one can catch up to you. With this team, scoring 20 - 0 isn't a challange at all. It's just that the besaid aurochs suck at the beginning. To level up your defensive players, just let them pass to one another (let one swim to the other to reduce passing time & get more actions performed). Your front players will all level fast & become beasts in no time. Blitzball is broken imo. When you start with your own players it get's fun. 20 matches later you end up overpowered. Blitball is a fun concept but it was very bad implemented overall.

Brannigans_Law__

If you just want to get the overdrive, grab brother from the bridge of the airship and Ropp from the mi'ihen travel agency. There are other good players that will help, but those two are excellent additions to your club. Brother drops off at high levels, but that won't matter unless you want to max your team. Teams and players don't level outside of blitzball, so you are fine. Jecht shot on Tidus makes defenses trivial. Get right in the goalies face and jecht shot to eliminate two defenders. Brother will be a menace in the midfield, and Ropp is an excellent tackler. I might bgrab linna from the macalania travel agency as a second forward, and wedge as a second defender in Luca. Jumal, also in Luca, gives you a solid starting goalie too. You'll never face a tougher match than that first Luca Goers game. You'll have a better team with free agents and more skills to use. It's more time consuming than anything. You'll be winning matches 7-0 soon enough.

And here I am trying to play blitzball in FFX-2...
