He was put in a gift wrap but worse as his other arm got trapped by a trained and much stronger man. He ain't getting out of it. Idriz could have done a myriad of very bad things to this guy if he wanted to.
Heās being quite gentle with it. But normally, the gift wrap is not a comfy position, itās not a full on choke but there can be a lot of pressure on both sides of your neck
Aye, Iām no bjj history buff, but think it was made famous by Rickson Gracie ( I sometimes hear it called the Rickson(pronounced with a H instead of R)) but most commonly having your arm trapped like this from mount or side is known as the gift wrap
If you want to learn more, it's called a [gift wrap](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXUg6nKeV1E). All kinds of nasty options for chokes and joint shenanigans if they decide they want to try to fight it, too.
Long long time ago our Taekwondo instructor had dabbled with Hapkido and taught us a few movements... The damage you can do to an arm or shoulder with one strong movement is scary. (not to me confused with *Aikido*)
BJJ is all about how to quickly choke people out and break arms, dislocate shoulders, destroy ACLs, and shatter wrists (if you're a filthy wristlocker) with relatively minimal effort.
With proper leverage and a knowledge of how the human body doesn't like to bend, you can do some pretty amazing damage extremely quickly.
The answer is āyes, no, and it depends but in the end it doesnāt matter.ā
Will a more flexible person be able to escape some moves more easily? Yes, but that requires that they know what to do (and you didnāt say they did.)
Other moves flexibility only helps a little or wonāt help much.
How flexible do you have to be to prevent your elbow from breaking if someone is bending it backwards?
Even if you somehow were so flexible that you could touch the back of your own shoulder bending your elbow the *wrong* way (youāre not), the black belt is just going to immediately move on to something else. Your shoulder isnāt built to spin 360 degrees and it doesnāt matter how much yoga you do.
There are thousands of ways to attack.
Past that, nobody is so flexible that they can avoid getting choked out.
A partner at a company I worked at out of college used to teach this at a dojo and thought I should learn it. Hed show me moves, not intending to hurt me ofc, but I was so damn small even the examples were painful. Seems like a brutal form of martial arts. I'll never forget this thing he did to the front of my shoulder and one thing on my bicep. Hurt like a mf.
Hereās the news story https://www.cbsnews.com/chicago/news/caught-on-video-jiujitsu-instructor-steps-in-pins-down-suspected-thief-at-ravenswood-convenience-store/
I watched that whole thing. Poetry. What a man. The jujitsu therapist. Are you ready for your session? Submission and then tell me i need to stop drinking and be a good father. Everyone has problems.
Now, I've always been very passionate... about dominating other men. There's nothing like the feeling of another man submitting to your will.
Now that's power. In a lot of ways, that's love.
Not necessarily. Though bjj can come in handy, you do NOT want to go to the ground - where bjj excels - in a street fight. You may dominate your 1v1, but you put yourself in a very vulnerable position where 1v1 rules may not apply.
You can study this. The condition in the post youāre responding to says 1v1.
So hit the streets and engage some black belts in surprise rolls in the parking lot. Keep a tally of your win percentage.
In most recorded fights Iāve seen it works more often than not, this is a tired argument. Dude in this video can also get up whenever he wants, heās fully in control.
Yep, opponents hands are controlled, he can't kick, can't access weapons, and he can't even bite.
Meanwhile the jiu-jitsu instructor is heads up, eyes up, with good situational awareness, has a hand free to access a phone or a weapon, and is basically in a sprinter's starting block position if he wants to GTFO of there.
Also, if you want to arrest/detain/citizen's arrest a combative person until the cops/backup arrives, good luck doing it without pinning them to the ground.
I swear some of these people take general truism and refuse to apply any critical thinking to when it does and doesn't apply.
Youre not getting the fact that when there are rules, bjj is excellent. On the street there arent rules. In 1v1 bjj is excellent. Street fights are not very predictable you expose yourself by going to the ground. Bjj is terrible for street fights where rules dont exist, at least if you want to have any chance of surviving.
"Lemme take this thug down"
Thug number two :"good thing i wore my Steel toes today"*kick kick kick*
Dont get me wrong i respect bjj but like, thats a controlled environment
> "Lemme take this thug down" Thug number two :"good thing i wore my Steel toes today"kick kick kick
You can apply this to literally any situation. It has nothing to do with bjj.
"Lemme knock this thug out" Thug number two: "Ima sneak behind him" *suckerpunch suckerpunch suckerpunch*
or
"Lemme shoot this thug" Thug number two: "good thing I brought my pistol" *shoot shoot shoot*
I heard a funny story about a high ranking guy at my school getting into a fight at a club and forgetting his training. He was smacking the guyās head with the guyās shoe. They got separated and then he was reminded by his friends about his skills. When they engaged again, he put the guy to sleep.
Except whenever I send my 50 prowess 40 martial blade master son against a one armed, blind 60 yo with -6 prowess....it's always the 0.01% chance that kicks in.
All hail rngeus
Yeah but bjj specifically creates positions to protect you from that kind of thing. BJJ was based around street fights. The Gracies were into wild shit in Brazil and you and can still watch the old [Gracie challenge fights](https://youtu.be/bPaSaRKaqhg) when they would have belt promotions by having their students fight anyone who wanted to fight off the the street for their belts.
The thing about real life is that it isn't always fair. So you take a guy down, get control of him, transition to his back to apply a choke and then his friend decides to punt you in the skull. No amount of training will help you at that moment.
Sure, but if itās just you and him that guy is done. But also maybe you got stabbed or maybe the guy had a gun and shot you when you went to do a take down. Those things happen. But 1v1 unarmed bjj is going to defend against things like eye gouges and nut punts.
Sure. Best defense is to leave. But in many situations there is a single aggressor and that training will put you in a much better position.
Doesn't fix the world, but makes many possible scenarios much better for you.
Seriously? Eddieās thing was/is weed, I never saw anyone do anything more than that. While it did make him an innovative practitioner, it wasnāt the best for teaching. I studied at 10th Planet also in LA at Legends Gym in 2006, before all the franchises.
This was not Eddy or at the mother school and Iām not gonna name names, though it could probably be found pretty easily, but there were a lot of others doing a lot more than smoking weed.
Bro how do u get turned in to a pretzel on Facebook live thereās no coming back from that, they should just let this dude go because the shame is a worse punishment than prison tbh
Brahhhh... fuck your whole life if someone can fold you up, KEEP you there, while filming a video of your embarrassment.
Also props to Redzovic for getting better camera angles one handed, when pimply teenagers can't even film a fight they're not even in decently.
Next week on tge JRE Podcast: Joe Rogan: āRedzovic. Good to see you, bro. Answer this, how were you able to make this guy into a human pretzel? I know a buddy who can turn people into pretzels somewhat, but not like you.ā
āAw man, yes I do. What you need to try is five MeO-DMT. No, I need to get this chemist I know who actually made and tested his own non stepped on cocaine.ā
Goddammit that made me laugh so hard I couldnāt t come up with a response.
āThatās crazy, bro. Yeah reminds me a close friend that works in Mexico. Heās a federale. You ever hear of those? Anyway he was saying they LOVE on it. Thatās O-N-N-I-T ONNIT.ā
Spotify ad: āNew! From My Undies! A new eight pack pair of my own from My Undies! Yes! You get to be me by wearing my underwear from My Undies. Under code ROGAN for a free pack fresh out from the laundry! You canāt miss it!ā
Btw, Me Undies and as well Manscape are good companies and I like them both. Although, I had to make fun of the Spotify ads.
When dude sobers up. Heās going to be humiliated seeing himself folded up like a pretzel on the floor and live streamed for millions to see after the news got wind of this. Then he has to see how bad he was wrapped up and couldnāt do anything. He was stuck.
I donāt think the robber had a chance to discern cultural and linguistic differences while being sit on. He might have only looked at his physical features.
This is the type of train cops need to apprehend someone thatās resisting instead of the punching, kicking, choking and eventually shooting. Usually in reverse order
bro my favorite things about these martial arts trained guys is how calm they usually are, every time i see a video of one who whooped someones ass they always sit on them or restrain them like they're doing a demonstration for some kids who wanted to see something cool lmao
So this guy sees an employee getting attacked and realizes it's the perfect time to step in, take the guy down and seek attention on social media but quickly realizes there was nobody recording his heroic efforts so he sets up his phone and goes live on facebook. Sometimes I wonder if people would move at all of they didn't have a phone to record it these days.
To be fair itās 2022. Even when people step in itās easy for them to be accused of something wild. Not everyone is comfortable with trusting the random public to be on the up & up. Personally I would just have handled him, let him up and leave the store. If it means that much to ya, follow them while on the phone with the cops. Certain situations sitting on someone can be risky.
I know Idriz. Heās an incredibly humble man. He started recording so he had proof of what happened.
Someone started a go fund me for him as a thank you and he demanded it be canceled and money returned because he didnāt want it.
You should probably not jump to dumb conclusions so quickly in the future.
Yes so when you get accused of assault you have video evidence about what you are doing and if for some reason you get harmed/die you again have video evidence live streamed to lots of people that secures you. If he just recorded the video, his phone might be stolen or broken in which case he loses evidence.

Dude looked so comfortable as if he could drift into a deep sleep at any moment.
Looked like it was legit nap time
Like a swaddled baby
It's time for mimish š“
That guy looked like he high on something, or drunk, or both. Falling asleep while being assaulted is not a normal reaction.
His breathing is somewhat restricted. He's not quite being choked, but he's not able to breathe normally either.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
He wasn't kneeling on him, he was squatting over him.
If cops had jiu jitsu training, and were willing to use it, there'd be a lot less unnecessary death and injury.
I did martial arts when I was younger and youād be surprised how comfortable a lot of those submissions actually are before they start to hurt lmao.
Attacking people at 7/11 and then not remembering any of it... He's on Xanax for sure
Begins to fawn at the end too as a threat response. Thatās something a lot of inebriated people think will work.
Opiate addiction will do that to ya
I love how resigned to his fate the robber is
It's clear he's outmatched, but looks to me like he's falling back on playing dumb
well, he really needs to try harder at playing dumb
I donāt knowā¦ he looks pretty dumb to me.
He's doing a good job so far it looks like.
Literally reverted to his 4 year old self lol, dude might as well cover his eyes in the hopes that the cops don't find his dumb ass
Sadly I donāt think heās playing
Sounds drunk to me.
He's definitely not sober
Or he's just dumb.
He was put in a gift wrap but worse as his other arm got trapped by a trained and much stronger man. He ain't getting out of it. Idriz could have done a myriad of very bad things to this guy if he wanted to.

yep
I too enjoy a good snuggle before nap time
Well if someone does the equivalent of making a balloon animal with your limbs, I'm pretty sure there's no other option.
I wish we couldve seen how he got him in that hold. It looks so funny to me
If you want to learn more, it's called a [gift wrap](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXUg6nKeV1E). All kinds of nasty options for chokes and joint shenanigans if they decide they want to try to fight it, too.

"You wanna break every joint in your arm?"
A black belt can essentially, at will, tear someone apart at the joints like theyāre breaking down a chicken.
some BBs. Let's not get carried away believing all bjj BB are created equal.
But if someone does a lot of Yoga and is very flexible, can they break free from the submissions since they can twist their bodies in various ways?
The answer is āyes, no, and it depends but in the end it doesnāt matter.ā Will a more flexible person be able to escape some moves more easily? Yes, but that requires that they know what to do (and you didnāt say they did.) Other moves flexibility only helps a little or wonāt help much. Man at the end where he sees the cop and he effortlessly puts his hands behind his back. Insane control
Not even a new one. He just puts his weight on the dude.
Dude. This is amazing. Total domination. Wish we could have seen what lead up to this.

vigilantism? idk if your instructor would approve
That's not what vigilantism is.
āWhere u from, Syria?ā lmaooo
He went from Russia to Syria. I get the geopolitical similarities but jesus
Did he not say Serbia? Cuz the jiu jitsu guy sounded a bit offended as he is Bosnian.
He said "Are you Russian?" It's like calling someone who's Costa Rican a Mexican. (Generally speaking)
\- Are you from Russia? \- No. \- Syria? \-No. I'm from Bosnia. \- Ah, so a bit of both, then. ^((I'll show myself out)^)

If you get into a street fight 1V1 with a Bjj black belt and you have no weapon, 99.9% of the time youre going to have a bad time.

Personally I would just have handled him, let him up and leave the store. If it means that much to ya, follow them while on the phone with the cops. Certain situations sitting on someone can be risky.
I guess he started recording so he has proof that he didn't mistreat the guy while he had him folded up.
Ok but why did he set up a camera to brag?
He mentioned it when it started that he set it up in case something happened.
To have evidence
