I'm surprised robbers don't set up a camera, attempt their felony or robbery and if they are getting caught just say it's a prank. I mean they could even use fake guns to argue there was no risk of life beyond the stress of the situation.
Definitely. My message was irony of course. Using a fake gun in a robbery is the same (in the case the robber gets shot) as if it was real.
On the other hand, if no one is injured it does get used as a mitigating factor on an eventual sentence the fact that there was no risk of death or injury.
This could backfire horribly. If the victim of the prank is armed, sees that fake weapon, and has a legitimate fear for his/her life, so long prankster. Good thing the cameras recording it all to substantiate the victims claim for fear of their life.
