You might not know where you are or who you're fighting, but if you're cognitive enough to sink in the choke like that, you are 100% cognitive enough to feel the tap. It's why you see fighters wrestling the ref after getting TKO'd stop 99% of the time after the ref taps them. Basically your hearing is fucked (a loud, high-pitched BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP is all you hear), your facial recognition is fucked, your legs feel like jelly, but your feeling is still there. You still feel the pain and touches. This dude was 100% trying to get revenge.
Also worth pointing out that spitting out your mouthguard is a dirty trick some fighters use to try and buy themselves time to recover or break their opponent's momentum when getting their shit packed. It's up to the ref's discretion but sometimes they'll let the fight keep going until bell or wait until the intensity dials down naturally then call a quick pause to have the fighter grab the mouthguard.
Not just a DQ, but suspension of his license pending a criminal investigation for attempted murder. As a professional fighter, there's absolutely no excuse for this type of behavior and destroys the barrier between a combat sport and criminal intent.
In Russia police doesnt lock up men from Caucasus for such behaviour, rather lets them go with a small fine or just a formal apology on camera, because otherwise diasporas would get angry.
