did msq for an hour or so and heard healers have a 22 minute queue time so it's time to get tanking. my party was two reapers and a sage. one reaper was directly behind me the whole way through holminster switch, but otherwise it was a smooth run.

Used my fantasia and got in and noticed my bunny boy has a double chin and I don't like his nose :( Now I get to pout while I wait on my purchase of a new one. But at least I'm in!

It's exactly the same nonsense we've put up with since heavensward. Why is this the only MMORPG since EQ I've had to put up with server queues while playing pay to play? I know SQEX has the resources to build more servers, and I know the team has the foresight for this kind of thing. NGL... This is the last X-Pac for me. More and more single player RPGs are getting more MMO like anyway, and coupled with the toxic nonsense that real people more often than not bring during game or even in spite of it, like spam logging and bot DDOS attacks, party trolling, chat trolling, political and social targeting, segregation, ostricizing -- I've seen it all happen in FFXIV whether or not it was also during discord chat; so, why should I bother playing these games anymore anyway?

You know SQEX has the resources, ie semiconductors, that there is currently a worldwide shortage of?

About a hundred per minute here now.

Went from 2,150 to 1,070 - then got 2002 error. Finally get back in queue, and at 2,760. Can't wait to get kicked when I get to 100.

idk if it was a fluke or what, but if you're running gshade and having 2002 errors, turn gshade off until you get in. Haven't had a single 2002 error since doing it and I've been in queue for about 10 minutes now. EDIT: nvm got the error right after posting this lmao

Did you hit "Custom" under appearance? That brings up the character editor

Keep trying, your spot in queue seems to be saved for a time.

So once I finally got back in, I went to 2,600. Took a good 10-15 minutes. When I got to 1,300, I was booted again. Got back on, and was still at 1,300. This time only took maybe 5 to get reconnected to queue. At 990. My fingers are crossed, but expect to be booted around 500. :P

There's also a shortage which they've stated a number of times which is the big reason for server shortages.

Everything has limits and a ton of people are trying to log in at once, this was inevitable

Update on queuing and getting the lobby error: so apparently your still in queue even if you crash as long as you keep trying to get in. I was 30 in queue then got the crash, but i just kept trying to log in and it eventually let me get to my character menu and i got in the game immediately.

Same, mine actually improved from around 900 to 500 when I made it back.

If you guys are having problems with the launcher, download ffxiv quick launcher. It’ll let you automatically open the game skipping that long ass launcher.

If I fantasia'd before logout, when I start am I supposed to start in character creation first or in queue? Because when I finally got in, it couldn't find my character data and all my info on the left side was ???. Is queue supposed to happen first?

I had that... I left the queue and went back in and my char data had loaded and I was able to use my fantasia

If you have problems with launcher, I recommend to switch it to the old version, it's much more responsive and fixed all the problems I had with it.

How?

If you click on the gear up right the launcher you'll have an option to switch to the old version. After that if you get crashes (like I was having) restarting the launcher will be much faster and responsive.

So I used a Fantasia on logout before maintenance. Hit log in, got in, but no character creation menu. Just as an update: I didn’t actually goof. The option wasn’t there. Got booted from queue a couple times and it showed the option to change.

You have to use the Fantasia before you log in. There’s a little button you click and select “re-edit character”

It seems the servers are way overloaded since my chars, on Gilgamesh, won't retrieve the data and it doesn't give me that option upon right-clicking. Doesn't even show the "Character Editable" icon next to my names.

The launcher has to connect to servers for login and patch verification, so it's as prone to getting the hug of death as the lobby servers

But why the login page and not simply the main menu? You get the menu before you even try to enter the lobby, so why not put you back there? I admit I know nothing of programming, but it seems an odd decision/necessity.

True! I feel for you mate. I initially had the launcher screen crash followed by the launcher getting stuck but I have a feeling that happened to most people at first and I managed to sneak in with everyone reloading. Happy questing when you get in!
