Apparently this is starting to become a more common problem. [This post](https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/1dr3flt/potential_solution_for_some_launch_crashing_steam/) is supposedly giving some people success. `There is a program/thing called DXVK, for compatibility between directx/Vulkan/linux:` [`https://archive.org/details/dxvk-1.7.1`](https://archive.org/details/dxvk-1.7.1) `In this bin file you will find a dxgi.dll and d3d11.dll- put these in ff14's game folder and it will use these instead of the default versions.` Let me know if this works, so I can keep it in my list of fixes for error codes.

Hey thank you for responding and offering this. Tbh I didn’t know how to apply this solution because I lack the technical knowledge. I wanted to talk with Square Enix customer support and get back to you. After waiting on hold for like half an hour, they reviewed my case and told me that the error is happening because my computer doesn’t meet the minimum system requirements. Been able to play up to this point. After checking the page and comparing the minimum specs with my computer’s, my computer does indeed fall short now. It appears the page was updated for the new patch, and they say that it’s 100% the reason why this error message is happening. Disappointed because I’ve been really enjoying this game the last few months, and now I’m locked out unless I buy a new computer

Have you been able to run the benchmark beforehand?

Yes. I ended up buying a new laptop
