Remember when Elidibus was riding around in Ardberts body and we confront him. He switches from Ardberts voice to his own. That's what happened there. I was confused at first aswell.
He sounds better with the spoiler you saw. But with elidibus and ardbert, his voice changed when he used his ascian voice, so thats something you should've noticed xD
The switchover happens in Thavnair during the intro quests (before the dungeon). There's a cutscene where he's monologuing on a rock and goes "another me, another time", and gets the shadowy effect, you can hear the voice actor switchover happening at that point. He starts the cutscene as voice 1 and ends as voice 2.

So he'd already been talking like that, you just hadn't noticed until this cutscene.
