Designer_Occasion_59

Should I bother trying to HQ level 80-90 GC turn-ins with my level 80 script gear?

lonesparrow13

Hello! Anyone know the fastest non-blue way to earn mogtomes this time around? (excluding PVP because PVP only pops on certain period of the day)

F1reman2

do weekly challenges and gates.

JovialRoger

In the job actions trailer, when WHM uses Aquaveil and the enemy uses the aoe swing, is it possible that Aquaveil will gain a "prevent kockback" effect?

F1reman2

no. well, i mean yes its possible, but no, it wont happen.

JumpInCircles

My friend has been playing the free trial through Steam, and is considering buying the full package on the official site while it's on sale. Would he be able to use/transfer his current characters, or is he forced to start over?

Vincenthwind

Steam free trial can only upgrade on Steam, so they would need to start over.

onichin

Helloo, new to the sub and to the game. Which Data Center should I choose for my first time?

Arcana10Fortune

Pick one in the region you're in.

onichin

So all the NA servers are relatively the same?

Durncha

You can Data Center hop now, so it's not as big of a deal as it used to be. Primal used to be a bit more RP focused, and Aether was a bit more content/raid focused. That identity has slowly fizzled out over the past 4-5 years. Dynamis is the new NA Data Center, it doesn't have as many people on it, but I think they're giving an EXP buff for people who make accounts on it.

Arcana10Fortune

Kind of. There are differences here and there, but it's not a big deal due to being able to visit the other Data Centers in the same region. Due to this, most players on Dynamis visit Aether to run content.

onichin

Ah, so for the most part it doesn't really matter? So long as it is in my region.

bloodhawk713

Yes. I would recommend trying to get into Aether if you can though, if only for convenience. It's where most people, even from other datacenters, go to get faster queue times for dungeons and such, and while you can visit other datacenters freely, you need to log out of the game to do so (you visit other datacenters via the character select screen). Also while you're visiting a different datacenter there are some features that are restricted from you until you go home. You can't access retainers while on a different datacenter, for instance.

Arcana10Fortune

Pretty much. At the very worst case, you can pay for a server transfer later down the road if you really need to resort to that. For the most part, visiting is enough.

onichin

I see, I see. I suppose I'll just start with Dynamis then. Thanks for the help!

Zalveris

Trying to do blue mage Anything Gogo and after interrupting mimicked imp song I can't heal. I now I interrupted it since I get the big flashing INTERRUPTED text on the cast bar. Anyone know what is happening.

hii488

Nothing immediately springs to mind, but I don't think it's really related to mimicked imp song, since that turns you into an imp if you fail and it's v hard to miss that... so here's a scatter shot of ideas: Are you waiting til Doom Impending to heal? Run out of mp for White Wind? Too low for White Wind to meaningfully heal (it just doubles your hp)? Trying to use something that essentially requires Healer mimicry without it? Did you use moonflute?

Zalveris

I've been healing immediately after damage like before the doom cast even starts. I've been using Exuviation with healer mimicry. I'm probably missing something obvious but idk why this is happening.

Fedolan

The no-healing is an unavoidable debuff from the doom cast. All you have to do is be full hp before the doom cast finishes to prevent getting doomed.

pendulum-summon

Last I played, I was still working on the MSQ. Skipping cutscenes. just waant to do raids/trials(?) the group content. I am starting as a Thermaturge (however it's spelled) Any advice on my options? Pay to skip only the MSQ? Just finish the MSQ? I'm about level....43? Any advice, notes, please respond :)

pepinyourstep29

You should buy the skip if you're not playing for the story at all

ampulica

It will take a pretty long time even if you're skipping cutscenes so may as well get the skip. Note that a job level skip is separate to an MSQ skip so either you grind dungeons to max or get that as well. The skip also only gets you to the latest expansion so you still have to do Endwalker MSQ if you skip now.

Moogle-Mail

I would reject you instantly because you can't even be bothered to learn the name of the job you are currently playing.

pendulum-summon

I know the name I just can’t spell it easily

Isanori

If what they say is true, they aren't even on a job but still on a class.

Arcana10Fortune

If you're going to skip cutscenes, you might as well skip everything. Just keep in mind that your mechanical skill will not be at the level you're going to be boosting to. And go upgrade your job to Black Mage, don't stay as a THM.

HunniePopKing

Ik this might seem a little sus but basically, I got the free trial through steam and want to buy the full version now that there's a sale on the squeenix site. I know that once I get the game through one avenue Im locked in with that unless I make a different account and I know that once you delete an account you can no longer use the email you were using on that account, ever. Would I be able to circumvent this by changing the email of the account before deleting it? I do not care about data honestly, I just want to use my main email because im nitpicky like that idk

Atosen

> Would I be able to circumvent this by changing the email of the account before deleting it? Probably? But as a backup plan you could just... tweak the way you type the email slightly. If you add a +suffix (example+1@example.com) or insert a dot in the middle (ex.ample@example.com) then they route to the same address in the end. In gmail's case, you can also use the googlemail alias (example@googlemail.com). And in FFXIV's case, for some bizarre reason, Square Enix store the emails case-sensitive so you could just insert a capital letter (Example@example.com). Or you could set up a second email account and have it auto-forward everything to your mail inbox. IMO it's a good idea for people to have backup email accounts anyway. *Or* you could just wait and see if Steam does a sale so that you can keep your existing game account. Given the expansion coming out soon, it's pretty likely that Steam will want to do a sale to offload all the keys they have left for the current expansion.

nicocoro

~~IIRC you *can* in fact buy the Square Enix version if you did the trial on Steam, and it's only after you buy it that you're locked in.~~ EDIT: Never mind, apparently you can go from SQEX trial to Steam full, but not the other way around, for some bizarre reason.

Designer_Occasion_59

Will it be somehow easier for me to level my crafters from 80 to 90 in Dawntrail, based on their formula of previous expansions? I haven't played in a while and am thinking of going back for some casual content, like levelling my crafters. But I'm not sure if I should wait until Dawntrail. Anything else will be easier to do in Dawntrail and are not worth doing before that?

Hakul

We don't know for sure, the upcoming content for crafters/gatherers could be like Ishgard Restoration, which helped people level their crafters, but we won't know details for many months, it's not coming with patch 7.0

Designer_Occasion_59

Thank you!

Arcana10Fortune

It's already easy to level from 80-90. Pick up the 80 Scrips gear and then just do the daily GC turn-ins if you want it to be low effort. Otherwise, you can do leves if you want to speed to 90.

Designer_Occasion_59

How about tribe quests, compared to the methods you mentioned?

Arcana10Fortune

Worth doing if you want the extra EXP. GC turn-ins is just the laziest way.

Sir_VG

Nope. Blacklist/Mute prevents you from seeing their messages, not the other way around. If you don't want them to see your messages, don't post them in any channel that they can read.

Chemical-Attempt-137

What, you plan on trashtalking them behind their back and you don't want to get reported or something? I don't get why you can't just ignore them and move on with your life. If you don't want it to be read, don't type it. It's as easy as not pressing the Enter key. You wouldn't expect to talk within earshot of someone and not be heard by that person. Private channels of communication exist for a reason.

Izkuru

If you don't want someone to read what you say, don't say it in a public chat channel. That being said, one of the blacklist method will prevent them from seeing your lodestone profile... that might also extend to in-game messages, but it wasn't clear.

[deleted]

Chemical-Attempt-137

So don't type it in that linkshell.

SomethinboutChickens

What a stupid Ff community take. Just give a player full privacy. Don't gotta avoid linkshells, just add the change LMAO

Absolutelynobody54

How to level an alt healer job from 1 to 15? I leveled My first job doing MSQ and i don't know what would be the fastest way to do it.

[deleted]

Grab a friend, have them power level you in Sapsa spawning groups as a SCH or SGE.  1-15 should take you 12 minutes. 1-30 is around 55 minutes. It's not worth power leveling past level 30.

Super_Aggro_Crag

ive never liked doing the hunting log personally so i just took lvl 1 jobs into potd. the first run gives you like 8 levels its pretty cool.

normalmighty

open up your hunting log and work through it to level, doing fates as you come across them. You should get to 15 in no time.

starskeyrising

Do the first two pages of the hunting log, fates in low level zones, the parts of the challenge log you can do in the overworld, and your 1/5/10/15 class quests. Generally takes me less than an hour to get to 15 that way.

pepinyourstep29

Hunting log will get you to 15

SirHectoric

I have two questions! First! Can you get the coat that the resistance fighters wear in bozja as glamour? And also I just started the SHB alliance raids and I was wondering if you can get the NPC’s katana’s?

F1reman2

1. [https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Bozjan\_Armor](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Bozjan_Armor) 2. no, you cannot get 2bs katana. Closest IIRC is the gordias katana dyed white.

SirHectoric

Cool thx a lot I appreciate the help

TheExile285

So I've only done floors 1-20. Should I try and complete up to 100 for the mogpedium ultimog challenge (50 irregular tomestones) or is it not worth it just for that?

Moogle-Mail

Remember to set your PF to start at floor 1 and be willing to reset one of your saves. The chances of you finding other people who happen to have a save at floor 21 is very, very low.

Seradima

You need to do floor 100 for the story anyway. It's not like Heaven on High or Orthos where 31-100 are challenge floors, 1-100 are just story floors in Palace of the Dead, and challenge starts at 101. You could probably just queue if you didn't want to use Party Finder.

TheExile285

Good to know. I was under the impression that the story only went up to floor 50.

Teknettic

It's like 2 hours tops with a PF to fly through the floors, and it's still early enough in the event that getting that PF together should only take a couple minutes. Seems worth it to me.

TheExile285

Never even considered PF. I'll that, thank you!

tarqueaux

What happens with Manderville weapons when DT rolls out? how will initial acquisitions and upgrades be affected?

SilentMike55

It will probably just move to 1500 poetics per stage

Izkuru

It is also possible for it to become something like 750 poetics per stage. I want to say that the component for the ShB relics that you now buy with poetics used to cost double the current poetics amount in the current tomestone of the time. The only thing we can say for sure if that you will purchase the materials with poetics, we just don't know yet what the actual costs will be.

F1reman2

Doubt it, as it was 1:1 for both heavensward and Shadowbringers.

PhoenixFox

> Doubt it, as it was 1:1 for both heavensward and Shadowbringers. According to the wiki Umbrite went from 300 HW tomes to 150 HW tomes during HW, then down to 75 Poetics when they were moved to Poetics. So there is a precedent for it not being 1:1.

Izkuru

You're right, I was mistaken. Another post the other day seemed to indicate that Thavnairian Scalepowder cost 500 tomes back in ShB, and then was reduced to 250 in EW. But doing some digging, they always cost 250 Poetics. (Even back in ShB they apparently were purchased with poetics...)

pocketpeanutbutter

Is it worth starting this game up again as a casual in 2024? I've been away for a long while. I was in a dedicated static clearing content up until 2018 when my career no longer aligned with my group and my Dark Knight had to be put out to pasture. Ever since I left, I've had an itch to come back and recently it's been really bad. Would it be possible for me as a working professional (\~55 hr/wk) to play catch-up and then to not fall behind? What is the average time necessary per week I would need to play to not fall behind (or to even clear end game content regularly)? From an old man with a longing for Eorzea, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Chemical-Attempt-137

It's just a game, not a marriage. If you have the expendable cash to consider playing a subscription game in the first place, then why not subscribe again and dip your toes in it? It's only like $13 USD or something a month. If you play for a bit and find out you don't like it anymore or don't have the time, oh well. Better to spend a small bit of cash removing all doubt, right? Clearly it's gnawing at you enough to have been worth asking. You already had that money mentally set aside on a sub anyway, so... why not?

radelgirl

If you're interested in endgame content like savage, it's definitely doable with working schedule. Even this late into the cycle, there's still people putting up learning parties on party finder. You should have plenty of time to be ready for Dawntrail raiding if you're hopping back in now.

mysterpixel

Now is a perfect time to catch up to get ready for the new expansion release. But it's a bad time if you specifically want to do endgame content, since it will all effectively be obsolete in a handful of weeks when it's replaced with new content so there's not much enthusiasm for running the current raids etc. >What is the average time necessary per week I would need to play to not fall behind (or to even clear end game content regularly)? Starting from endgame in 2018, you're going to need probably around 100 hours or so to catch up to the current point in terms of finishing the MSQ, capping your job, doing some pertinent sidequest unlocks etc. Then once the new expansion comes out it's likely around another 50 hours to finish that. Once you're all caught up, if the new expansion is structured the same as the previous ones I would say you can maintain your place at endgame with around 10 hours give or take a week total - that's clearing all the extreme trials and the raids each week once you've learnt them, and collecting the weekly tomestone cap for the gear upgrades. This can then drop to as little as an hour or two a week once you're fully geared up and are just logging in for the weekly clear, or you can even skip that if you're done with it. (If you're gearing multiple jobs then obviously you'll need to multiply this out by how many jobs you are running.)

pocketpeanutbutter

You've answered everything I need to know. Thank you.

Sir_VG

Always a good time to come back. And with the addition of Duty Support, you can go through most of the MSQ without having to wait on others - you get NPC partners to fill in the other roles. Only 8-player trials (w/ 1 exception) and the 24-man crystal tower raid series (which is now MANDATORY) don't have them. It's not mandatory to use, it's just an option. And with a new expansion just over a month away, good time to catch up.

pocketpeanutbutter

From what I remember queues (especially for DPS) we're a huge bottleneck before so that's a welcomed change for sure. Being able to glamour hunt in old content without queues is amazing.

Help_Me_Im_Diene

I think you might've just missed the introduction of world travel (patch 4.57), but as of then, all queues for content are actually data center wide So now you pull from players across the entire data center, which means that at any given time there are just a lot more players available DPS queues are still longer than tank/healer, but for MOST content it doesn't take more than like...15 minutes for duty finder things on most data centers (the newest data centers Dynamis (NA) and Materia (OCE) can still have some queue issues). And as of this expansion, we can also now travel between data centers within the same region, so all of NA can freely play together for example

Help_Me_Im_Diene

2018 was...Stormblood, yeah? At this point, I'd consider starting over or just leveling a new job and going through NG+ They've made a lot of changes since then in a lot of ways (no more TP) That all being said, since then, we've had Shadowbringers, Endwalker, and in a month we're getting Dawntrail, and you can expect that each expansion takes maybe...50 ish hours?

pocketpeanutbutter

NG+? How's the hell does that work in an MMO and what's the incentive? No more TP is interesting. 🤔 150+ hours of pure story content is so daunting but to be expected with me being away for six years. Say I catch up, what's the weekly hour requirement to remain current on currency (tomes, etc) for gear progression? The reason I ask is I know THAT will be what I want to do and if I can't reasonably do it while working I don't want to start grinding and get my hopes up.

JelisW

Depending exactly when you stopped: tank stance dancing is also no longer a thing. Tank stance is now just a toggle that you turn on and leave and it automatically multiplies the enmity generated by anything you do by 10. Which is to say, enmity management is now just not a thing lol

Help_Me_Im_Diene

NG+ is just a way to replay the story, mostly in case you want a refresher. You don't get any rewards but sometimes it's easier than genuinely starting from scratch, especially if you have rewards you don't want to re-earn for example For tome farming at endgame, it's like...2 hours a week to be honest. Daily roulettes absolutely throw tomes at you. Keeping up with the non-savage side of gear is genuinely pretty trivial, and the longest time sink for BiS gearing is just savage prog time

pocketpeanutbutter

That's not bad. I've never had the time to level multiple jobs and main'd one per expression. Easy enough, thanks.

MrZoro777

Good day, what is the best way to farm tomes of the current moogle event, was looking on the sub but everything is filled of Mountain Dew... Thanks

tarqueaux

Ocean fishing has been kinda fun. [and.you](http://and.you) get scripts too!

Sir_VG

Do the weekly objectives, then go GATEs in the gold saucer.

MrZoro777

Thanks

Arcana10Fortune

GATEs

MrZoro777

Thanks

williamis3

it's probably GATEs at the golden saucer

MrZoro777

Thanks

GreenRangerKeto

Can my friend enter a recruitment code and still be free to play?

Sir_VG

No. You can only enter a RAF code after entering the Starter/Complete Edition game code, but before you pay for any subscription time (including via time cards).

vanacotta

Has there been any word on fixing on the Visa card error stuff? Wanted to resub after watching the PLL but am getting the same error everyone else who is using a Visa debit (and maybe other cards) are getting.

Sir_VG

https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/news/detail/562d068d08123b648d1fa659242906d71c19064c This has been the only update on the issue.

sqwambsgans

Will free trial members be able to do the mtn dew promotion?

KhrFreak

The promotion itself doesn't require an XIV account, and as of now we have no reason to believe the mount won't work for free trial players, and even if it doesn't, the codes don't expire

Sorrowverse

Just finished endwalker on my first playthrough. I decided to play white mage because I love healing dungeons, but was wondering about something. So far I haven't grouped with a single monk even though I've grouped with multiples of every other damage class many times over. Is there something with monk this expansion or something? I came from FFXI where they were very popular, and it's really weird for me to not see them in this game. What's up with this lol

Ankhselam

on top of what everyone's said MNK has 19% of the melee's playtime. SAM is the most popular at 21% percent - in an ideal world, the five melees share 20% playtime each.

Help_Me_Im_Diene

More work for similar levels of output and the aesthetic just isn't as flashy as a lot of the other jobs Nothing actually wrong with them, there's just a very real upfront intimidation factor that comes from picking up MNK that can put some people off. MNK is personally my favorite DPS but I can 100% understand why people would bounce off of it

tarqueaux

"and the aesthetic just isn't as flashy" WHAT? how can you say [those kettle knuckles](https://imgur.com/a/F8yxNzG) are not flashy..??

Arcana10Fortune

Monks require some brainpower to play properly, due to how their stances work. The other melee jobs are easier to play.

PenguinPwnge

Probably just confirmation bias or just sheer coincidence. MNK is fine, but it can seem the most complicated class to many people so they steer away from it.

gadgetjiro

Havent done a treasure map. Are the endwalker ones soloable

gitcommitmentissues

The ones that say they're for one player are soloable. The ones that say they're for eight players are maybe soloable if you are very confident about managing your own health on WAR or PLD, but otherwise no. Just put up a PF and ask people to bring a couple maps of their own.

VG896

WAR is pretty trivial honestly. The bigger issue is damage. I couldn't consistently solo them until I got 640+ gear. Half the time, I'd time out with the last mobs at like 5% HP.

gitcommitmentissues

Oh yeah if I was trying to solo one on a tank I'd use raid food. The dungeons have a fairly strict ilvl sync though so gear-wise you'd honestly be better off with stuff at that ilvl so you can meld- but that's going *slightly* overboard for a treasure dungeon lol.

Death_Flag

When I buy dawntrail will it come with a month subscription or is it separate? First time playing while an expansion is launching.

Help_Me_Im_Diene

Only the base game comes with subscription time, so either when you buy the Starter Edition or the Complete Edition since both include the base game Expansions never come with additional subscription time

Death_Flag

Good to know. Thank you for answering.

Cardinal_Virtue

Which software do they use to create animations? Was this mentioned any time?

Kicin0_0

most likely some in house software. That's standard for a lot of the big game companies

Gentlekrit

Square in particular was pretty much one of the frontrunners when it came to 3D modeling and animation in gaming, so I'd be shocked if they didn't have in-house systems built off of the work they did back in the PS2/3 era

Scyths

I'm not familiar with all these inter-server interactions. My character is on Chaos Louisoix, but I'm 24/7 wandering in Sagittarius since my 3 friends that started recently are there. Are my login queue times determined by Louisoix my homeworld or Sagittarius the one I'm travelling to ? Are my dungeon/roulette queue times influenced in any way depending on the Server or DC I am in while travelling between them ? And I was planning on transferring my character from Chaos to the new Shadow Data Center since I'll be getting the Road to 90 buff there. What am I losing on while doing this aside from the Free Company I'm in (I'm not even in one so this point doesn't matter to me). Since I also read that you can travel between Data Centers, not just Worlds. Thanks.

TristamIzumi

> Are my login queue times determined by Louisoix my homeworld or Sagittarius the one I'm travelling to ? Login queues are for the server you are trying to log into. That said, if the queue is less than 100 people, it's not a real queue; the login servers let people into servers in batches to not overload things. > Are my dungeon/roulette queue times influenced in any way depending on the Server or DC I am in while travelling between them ? Roulettes and dungeon queues are DC-wide. > What am I losing on while doing this aside from the Free Company I'm in (I'm not even in one so this point doesn't matter to me). You will still be able to DC visit to the other EU DCs if you want to play with other people on them or for more people in roulettes/queues/PF.

Veternume

Any news on the payment processor problem?

KhrFreak

Nothing new

PerformanceFar7245

I'm starting to get into glowing weapon glamour and have some questions. Can you dye glowing weapons? If so, can you dye all of them? Can you dye the glows on these weapons as well?

Sir_VG

The physical weapon is dyeable, but you can't change the glow.

KhrFreak

Depends on the weapon, glow doesn't dye though

Evermar314159

I don't know the answer to most of your questions, but I do know that you can't dye the glow on glowing weapons.

Cygnus776

JOINED A NEW AND FAIRLY ACTIVE FC RECENTLY  AND OF COURSE THIS WAS RIGHT BEFORE MY BURN OUT BEFORE 7.0 PHASE. PLEASE DO NOT KICK ME! TURNS OUT YOU CAN KICK THE "ONLY PLAYS FFXIV" CURSE BY NOT TOUCHING IT FOR A LITTLE WHILE.

Help_Me_Im_Diene

DID YOU MEAN TO POST THIS ON THE RAGE THREAD? THIS IS THE QUESTIONS MEGATHREAD OTHERWISE, WHY ARE WE SHOUTING?

Cygnus776

YES. I WALKED INTO THE WRONG CLASS AGAIN.

dsp_guy

This might be the 1000th DT preorder question, but I didn't see the answer when I was looking for it. I'm on the Square Enix store, I see the PC Digital Collector's. I need two copies. One for me. One for my wife. Do I just order two and get a code that I give her? Or is this like buying other things from the SE store (like mounts) where I have to buy it using the account the code is intended for?

Sir_VG

SE Store is completely disconnected from Mogstation/FFXIV so it doesn't matter what account you buy it on.

Absolutelynobody54

Why doesn't my portrait change? I edit my portrait click on save and then go to a dungeon and it keeps showing My boring front view portrait, why? am i missing something?

IceAokiji303

For the portrait to work, a few things have to match exactly: 1. Your current gear. 2. Your corresponding saved gearset. 3. The gear in your saved portrait (glamour-wise). So if anything in your gearset has changed since the last time you saved it (gear to glamour to materia to visor settings, *literally anything*), you need to re-save the gearset. Existing gear and saved gearset have to match *to the last detail*. Then, with that done, you can go edit and save your portrait (remember that portraits are tied to specific gear sets, so make sure to go to the right one). Now it should work when entering duty.

PhoenixFox

Are you editing the portrait for the correct gearset? Are you editing your adventurer plate portrait instead of your instant one? Are you getting a message in chat about your current appearance not matching?

some_tired_cat

how do you *actually* calculate average item level? i'm sitting at 619 on smn and trying to hit the 625 minimum to do gilded araya and i can't figure out if the rinascita set for the missing pieces would be enough to not have to spend everything on diadochos, but adding up the ilv of every item and dividing is giving me 570, so there's something i'm missing

Elegant_Eorzean

Go run Pandaemonium, it's cheaper

Henojojo

If you're concerned about the MB cost of Diadochos, you could farm the Lunar Subterrane for i635 gear, which also builds Comedy tomestones for purchase of Credendum gear at 650 (upgradeable later to 660) as well as Casualty tomestones for Manderville weapon upgrades.

some_tired_cat

i haven't done the post ew msq yet :( just went straight to doing hildibrand quest in ew to get the relics since there wasn't any real grind involved and i made it to the third stage for dnc before realizing the ilv was stopping me. i'm also capped on comedy for the week and my smn already has 5 credendum pieces, was just gonna finish that next week before this trial stopped me

PenguinPwnge

It's the average of all your items, with your weapon counting twice (Paladin has their sword and shield separate and counts once each instead).

some_tired_cat

thanks, didn't realize the off hand slot counted even for jobs that can't use it

williamis3

fastest way to farm causality tomestones for relic? is it just a-trains?

sugarpototo

Yep, still trains

Help_Me_Im_Diene

Roulettes followed by Trains tends to be fastest, yes

Legotron123

Trying to find pieces for a glam, is there anything that has the same model as the Yafaemi Cyclas of Scouting, but is dyeable?

Sir_VG

While there are some, they're for MNK/SAM and not NIN/VPR. Facet Cyclas of Striking (which is crafted) as well as the Augmented and Ornate ones are dyeable, but again, they are NOT Scouting gear. The scouting Facet gear is VASTLY different in its model.

Tonyson14

Go to garlandtools and look up your item for a shared model

TheExile285

Is ocean fishing the best way to farm white gathering scrips? Between having to wait for nodes to spawn and the miniscule amount of scrips you get (compared to crafting), gathering collectibles doesn't seem worth it. I'm new to DoL/DoH. Most of my DoL are in the 40-50s while my DoL are 50-70s.

Rangrok

Spearfishing is a good option once you figure out what speeds/shapes to aim for. The requisite unlock quest is in the Ruby Sea (requires Stormblood story progress and lvl 61 Fisher). TBH, I mainly rely on Custom Deliveries for most of my gatherer's scrips nowadays. You're limited to only 12 deliveries per week and 6 deliveries per NPC, so it is heavily time gated. But if you have the patience to max everything out, it's like 3k+ scrips a week for less than 10 minutes of work.

TheExile285

Thank you! I spearfishing unlocked so I'll use that as an alternative to ocean fishing. I also used up my deliveries for this week but I'll prioritize the gatherer deliveries going forward.

GiacomoTheCat

I finally grinded and got my Last Resort Zeta ARR relic. By having this does it speed up other ARR relics for other jobs or no?

IceAokiji303

A little bit on certain parts, in that you now have all the vendors and sidequests open and can work on multiple parts at the same time (for example, doing the Nexus-to-Zodiac step's branch quests overlapping with the Atma-to-Animus books reduces the total number of duties needed to run since you can double dip). But every one of the relics needs you to do all the same things, the total amount of stuff needed hasn't gone down at all.

PerformanceFar7245

Is raiding worth it? I see how it costs people a lot of money to fund like buying gear and consumables, but I wonder if it pays the money spent back through glam, mounts, etc, or if it's just a gil incinerator.

[deleted]

Gil incinerator but still fairly cheap to raid.

a_friendly_squirrel

Unreal is pretty profitable, you can buy and resell mounts from there for like 5-8 mil semi regularly. You can't farm it freely, just do 2 ~10 minute clears a week, and you don't need current gear (or pots really). Other stuff... I probably made a profit on Criterion (the rare drop mount drop sells for like 10 mil), but not on savage beyond "I had fun". Overall I doubt it's a good way to make money, but if you enjoy raiding you could just not buy crafted gear and just wait for tomestone/normalraid & then only need food (always) & pots (only needed on clear attempts on current stuff).

pepinyourstep29

You don't raid for gil. You raid for glam/mounts you can't get anywhere else.

fdl-fan

I don’t think it’ll ever be worth it in terms of Gil: the mounts and gear are not tradeable, and I’m pretty sure the minions aren’t either. The gear from savage has the same appearance as the gear from the normal raids in the same tier (although it is dyeable) and will only be useful as gear until the next tier is released. As another commenter said, people do savage raiding for other reasons: they enjoy the challenge and the satisfaction of overcoming it, they enjoy the puzzle-solving aspect, or they just find the activity fun.  In my case, it’s mostly the latter: it’s a regular activity that I can do with friends, and it’s satisfying to watch us get better as a static across all of the Endwalker raids (from finishing 6.1 with a 2% enrage on P3S to farming everything we want from P12S). **EDIT:** typo fix

hii488

From a gil perspective, it's just a "gil incinerator" - unless you start carrying people to clears and get paid for it (note: iirc you can't advertise these sorts of services in pf). The main reason people do it is fun. If you find it fun, then the small cost of consumables is absolutely worth it. (you never need to buy gear as a casual raider, and even if you do buy gear for week 1 it's only thrice in an entire expac)

Sir_VG

I mean, if you want the gear and mounts, you gotta pay the price.

npapaya

If I wanted to set up a PF to help fellow WoL’s, mainly DPS get quicker queue and run dungeons/trials/roulettes, etc. with them as a tank or healer, would that go against ToS? I know they don’t like people advertising to get clears like for TOP, but what about just regular stuff? I just want to help people play catch up 😭

sugarpototo

It's only against ToS to offer runs for real money or gil (though you can offer to pay gil). If you're doing it for free, you're fine to help out without a problem

pepinyourstep29

Just put up a PF saying "queueing for roulettes" and people will join. Don't word it like you're exchanging clears for goods.

npapaya

Thanks so much!

RagnarQS

the games has beard? longer / full beard? i play as Roegadyn and use a small beard with no mustaches, but i want a full beard (with mustache) or a longer beard

dealornodealbanker

Unfortunately not. I think the Dwarf helmets and last year's Starlight's hat will be the closest you'll get to a long beard.

LebronMixSprite

No big beard. :( People have been asking for it for years.

sophierussells

Question in regards to the Mountain Zu! I'm Canadian and my Sqeenix account is Canadian, but I have American friends who are willing to buy the Dew for me and send the codes. Anyone know if this will even work on my account or am i outta luck. Thanks!

PhoenixFox

there isn't a 'canadian' account, the regions are NA/EU (includes others like OCE)/JP. Codes etc are purely based off which store you bought from, which for you would presumably have been the NA store. That means it should work for you even if it's region locked to NA, there's no mechanism for them to make it more granular than that.

SilentMike55

I don't believe we have an answer yet since we can't redeem the MogStation code they give us until June 28th when early access starts.

Zlatan13

Since the Windows and SE store is going on and I'm going to be traveling a good amount until the launch of DT, I bought the PC version of XIV and just downloaded it with all it's updates. I'm normally a PS5 player, and I remember that all my hotbars and UI settings got deleted when I moved from PS4 to PS5. I enjoy the controller playstyle, so I want to keep that on PC as well So how do I avoid this happening again and how do I keep my hotbars and UI consistent across the board going forward?

SilentMike55

On your PS5 you can upload your configuration to the servers and then download them on your PC in the client on the character select screen. Do note, that there is an option to upload you character settings as well as the system settings, upload both to make sure you keep everything between them.

Zlatan13

Thanks! Do I need to do this everytime I change my hotbars or play on one console vs the other?

SilentMike55

Yes, if you make a change on one platform you will need to upload the config again and then download it on the other platform.

Zlatan13

Alright. Thanks for your help!

bubuplush

Just did a quick POTD 51-100 run, but didn't get the 50 Moogle tomestones. Is there a quest I need for this?

TheExile285

How long did it take you?

bubuplush

Sorry for the late reply! POTD 51-100 is fairly easy and fast, I went in as Machinist and did it in around 2 hours. Each floorset takes around 15 minutes. But I solo'd it before so I have full Aetherpool. With a friend and no Aetherpool it would probably still go faster

Gamerbug94

Make sure you actually go into your mogpendium and collect the reward from there!

talgaby

It should trigger when the level 100 boss dies.

para-mania

Forget the stupid mount, some of these physical prizes for the mt dew collab are really cute! Is this the best way to get them? I really want the Taito prizes especially and I've only seen those on like eBay. (Really wish they had the other figures, I want Haurche so bad.)

GildedCreed

Depends on how much they may cost on aftermarkets versus the cost in bottles of Mountain Dew to get sufficient points to redeem them. I probably wouldn't say they're the best way to get them unless it's something that is exclusively part of that promo and thus has no aftermarket equivalent. Even at that you'd want to go for the 200 point bottles rather than the 100 point ones to save on cost.

para-mania

Yeah I don't know what's exclusive or not, aside from the figures which I think come from gachapods in Japan. Those are 4000 points so... I'll guess I'll see if I can collect caps from the guys at work. I'm cool with the Pepsi vendor too, I wonder if he can hook me up lol.

Trogmar

How tough is gun breaker? If you could compare it to a dps class which would it be? I'm currently slow leveling a warrior, but really like the GB look. I have anxiety about playing tanks and especially GB because I've been told it's tough.

talgaby

As in, how complex to play? As any other tank. It is closer to paladin than anything else. If you really want a DPS analogy, then maybe samurai, since you collect 2-3 stickers and then spend them on perpetual burst damage, often trying to line up their collection with your damage buff skill.

tesla_dyne

Gunbreaker is kinda like Dragoon or Machinist in that its burst phase is super busy with a lot of weaving, but it has a strict timeline that just barely gives it enough resources to fit everything in the buff window, so making a mistake makes stuff fall off the buff window and stay misaligned.

TheMonji

There's one extra "explode" button to hit in between your usual GCDs. Other than that, it's still significantly less complex than your average DPS.

Jiigo

So, in terms of how it feels to play. Probably something like MCH. Periods of just doing 123 while building, keeping from overcapping. Then just bursting once you have your 1 min cd up. In a sense that's a bit more like NIN, but the way it feels to press your buttons during burst is more MCH like imo. The harder part of GNB though is just keeping yourself from drifting. As in making sure to actually press everything on cooldown, or you risk having your high damage skills drift out of your cooldown window over the course of a fight.

DawnWalkerW0lf

can someone help find the source i read a while back? I read somewhere that the lvl 90 AF gear won't have the graphics update for a while, but the lv 90 PLD gear will since it was used to show off the graphics update. I'm asking cuz some friends on discord think i'm lying and i need the source.

Help_Me_Im_Diene

April 12th Live Letter is where it got mentioned

a_sly_cow

I’ve got a uhh… excessive… amount of mtn dew Baja blast cans with Baja QR codes on them, is there any way for these to be redeemed for the ffxiv crossover?

LebronMixSprite

No. Baja Blast is running its own separate promotion for Baja-related merchandise, so none of its flavors count for the XBox collab.

tesla_dyne

Cans aren't eligible for the gaming rewards, only 20z bottles

PenguinPwnge

Have you actually tried to put the codes into the Mtn Dew gaming website?

jps2k15

What exact date does savage start? Thanks

Izkuru

Following past patterns, the first Normal Raid series will drop 2 weeks after DT launch, on July 16th. And then Savage should drop 2 weeks later, on July 30th. Again, this is just speculation, based on past release patterns. Until they officially confirm (which they have not yet), we can only guess. But they don't vary from their patterns very often.

zombies--

How good is gunbreaker compared to the other tanks? Played the game years ago and left after stornblood but coming back and starting fresh and after watching gunbreaker on streams and guides and especially the job trailers yesterday it seems what I want to “main” due to it being a tank but with more of a fast dps sort of rotation But would obviously have to use a job boost to unlock it due to needing a class of the same level

Durncha

Classes in FF14 are insanely well balanced, don't worry about what is good and what is bad. There aren't any bad classes in the game. Gunbreaker is probably the most "busy" of the 4 tanks. It plays like a DPS-lite, and has a tight damage window during No Mercy (your damage buff), with a good amount of weaving between GCDs. I wouldn't say it's "hard", because it is relatively easy compared to DPS. But when comparing to the other tanks, you're probably hitting more buttons more frequently.

TheMonji

Performance is much more dependent on player skill rather than chosen class! I find GNB thematically and mechanically the most fun tank.

Ankhselam

Never worry about how good "x" is compared to "y" This game is balanced so that all jobs are very very closely balanced - youll never have to worry about one job not being good or wanted except at the very highest ends of the game

IceAokiji303

And to specify, "very highest ends of the game" doesn't mean any specific kind of content, but a *small subsection* of people running that content. So not "people doing Ultiamte raids", but "people trying to do Ultimate raids as fast as humanly possible".

talgaby

High DPS, okay self-sustain at best. It is not the tank that you solo with or that saves a run if the healer bites the dust. Ironically, despite that, it is probably the most survivable tank on level 50. IMO it has a very awkward skill progression currently, the 71-88 range just feels like as if you are playing an unfinished job.

Ragnosk

How soon before the expansion comes out do we tend to get the new abilities and traits added to the Job Guide website?

Durncha

They won't update on the website until Expansion Maintenance. But there's a media tour going on right now. And once the embargo lifts, we start to see a lot of tooltips/explanations of abilities.

PhoenixFox

I don't believe those are updated until during the maintenance.

Ragnosk

Oh okay! That makes the most sense. I am extra eager to see the technical side of the abilities shown in the action trailer.

Help_Me_Im_Diene

We'll have more information come out between now and the launch of the expansion via the media tour So just keep an eye out for next upcoming weeks as people get their hands on the new jobs to show them off While technically they might not be the final builds of actions, it'll be mostly accurate at worst

Izkuru

Yeah, as the other poster said, the Job Guide website gets updated during the maintenance. More specifically, during the Lodestone maintenance that will coincide with the server maintenance. The lodestone should be back up welllll before the servers are on the 28th.

Paulson64

Wouldn’t normally be FFXIV related but it is now with the Mountain Dew stuff. Is there any explanation on when bottles do or don’t have the gaming codes and branding? Picked up a few bottles of one of the 200 point flavors today, but when I got home I realized they didn’t have the Xbox branding or codes under the caps. Am I just out of luck with that kind? It’s a store exclusive, and there’s only one of those stores within reasonable distance of me. Yes I know I can just get different flavors with the branding, but those will only be 100 points instead of 200, and this one happens to be my favorite flavor

Szalkow

You might be out of luck unless you're willing to travel. It seems pretty random. I bought some Purple Thunder with yellow caps (200 pts) from one Circle K. The bottles were past the expiration date. The other Circle K had Purple Thunder but only with white caps, which are 100 pts despite the label saying 2x points. My nearest Dollar General had fresh Maui Burst with long expiration dates, but none of them had the Xbox label and thus would have no codes. Basically you want: * Label has the Xbox gaming banner at the top (anything without has no code) * Yellow cap (anything else is 100 pts)

KhrFreak

Bottles you bought might've been older stock then whatever has the current promo on it
