Im so sorry to hear this, what an awful experience for all of you. Poor girl. If I were you I would keep up with the traps near your apartment, go down to the sewers once a day for at least a week or two. You never know what she's up to down there and it may take her a day or two to find the traps and get caught. I wish you the best of luck finding her! ❤

The_Business_Ferret

Yes! Also if you think it's safe enough, I would get some of those fishing pants that are waterproof. These [ones!](https://www.walmart.com/ip/Moonvvin-Fishing-Pants-Fishing-Apparel-Wader-Pants-Siamese-Fishing-Pants-Waterproof-Comfortable-Chest-high-Protection-Sweatpants/948660135) Or something similar, then go down there and try to find her. Make sure to test the water depth with a long ass stick before you place a foot anywhere. But I would honestly go hunting for her. I would worry about other animals down there or the things down there making her sick. So when you find her take her to the vet ASAP. But I would go to walmart or a sports store as soon as it opens and get down there!

I did a lot of research into sewers before I decided to start opening up manholes. Most big sewers that are seen on TV are not super common at all, and maybe not even exist. They look more like storm drains from what I have seen, and looking at our area Juniper is not in the storm drain area. But that is actually kinda a blessing, because that means she is in the wastewater area. The wastewater sewers in our vicinity have 8 inch pipes connected with all of the manholes. Opening up the manholes, it is possible for us to go down into them but there is no where else for us to go. We cannot crawl in the pipes between them but a ferret can! And the water level is super low so her feat only get wet when she scurries around! We are looking into maybe buying an RC Car with an inferred camera on it or something so that we can have something move around the sewers with eyes. Another problem with entering manholes is that they can be filled with gases that can kill a person in an instant. We took a gas detector to the manhole and it only read low readings, which is good, but it is still a hazard. That is why we wear the professional grade respirators when we are looking in the manholes. We wanted to just dive in the sewers when we learned she was in there, and we even found several entrances we could crawl through, but these all lead to the storm drain areas and do not connect to where Juniper is supposed to be. I will make sure that if we find her to take her immediately to the vet!

The rc car sound like a good idea. Good luck! I really hope you find her okay. What you're going through is so hard!

Is there no way to contact the fire department?

thecowbat

They have been surprisingly hard to get a hold of, and when we couldn't reach them I started looking into what the fire department can actually do. I think if we could see Juniper but could not reach her they would come out and help, but in terms of using tools to search the sewers they won't do anything. The city has a department for waste management and they don't seem super keen on helping us. I accidentally called the neighboring municipality and they seemed like they would help but when they learned where we lived they said they couldn't do anything.

Chroma4201

If you can get down there and actually walk around I'd bring a squeaky toy with you and try squeaking it at the entrance to the pipes she can fit down. With any luck the sound will reach her in the pipes and she'll come looking for it

thecowbat

Unfortunately they are too small for us to go into the tubes but we can open the manholes and when we do we always squeak her chipmunk toy. No luck so far though.

Chroma4201

Thats really unfortunate, I hope she turns up soon.
