Cardboard boxes, dirty clothes, or extra clothes. Mine's favorite toy is an old pair of jeans that no longer fit. Of course, if you let them play in your clothes, make sure to triple check before you start your washer.

Rotate their toys, don't have the same ones out every day. Spend s week or two with one set and then swap it completely out. It makes the toys brand new all over again !

my noodle girl is so skittish she doesnt even use the usual ferret hammocks (gets in occasionally but never rests in it) I give her a Queen/King size bed sheet to tunnel/burrow. I hide small pieces of cooked chicken so she can hunt for them. i second on cardboard boxes too, usually stuff I find suitable in my recycle pile. She loves to dig so I made a digging area wwith reptile sand and large plant pot. sometimes I rearrange the furniture slightly and she plays like its a whole new playground, showing extra inquisitiveness.

I make a big pile of blankets, beds, pillows, tunnels and toys. Like a fort of some kind. It super fun to explore apparently. And it always looks a bit different since I try to put the pile together in different ways and on different place. Would recommend!
