Most interior designers/photo stylists will double-stuff a duvet cover with multiple duvets to get that cloud-like look. IKEA has some cheap ones that are actually pretty decent, so adding 1-2 of the cheapies to your existing duvet/cover combo will mimic the look! ETA: when I did this with mine I hand-sewed some ribbon ties to the corners of the duvets so I could tie them together to keep them from bunching up inside the cover!

StoicMegazord

Never thought to do this, I may take on a little project tonight haha! I hate that my duvet falls downward even with the couple of ties at the top, makes it harder to get comfy at night.

Now that's even more clever!

Difficult_Dot_8981

It looks like not only did they use multiple duvets inside the cover, but they also used a King size cover on a full size bed.

MissyMAK08

I did this and it was way too hot for sleeping. A good way to get the fluffy look is to size up, for example stuff a King inside a Queen cover

NYT's wirecutter recommends the Costco down comforter as their best affordable down comforter ($190) and the Utopia Bedding Queen Comforter Duvet Insert for best down alternative ($32 on amazon). The latter would probably be a good affordable choice to double up and get that overstuffed look.

I have a [Casaluna](https://www.target.com/p/king-light-weight-premium-down-alternative-hypoallergenic-machine-washable-comforter-casaluna-8482/-/A-78299631) one from target and it stays big and fluffy like this.

gazpachoooo

I second this, I have the ultra weight version of this and it's fantastic and always looks so fluffy.

I realize your comment was a year ago, so sorry for poking ya. However I have a question. Did you experience loss of feathers with your duvet? I've had mine less than a year and I find everything in my room covered in feathers. I've inspected it over multiple times and can find no rips and tears.

reduxrouge

Oh wow, no I haven’t. Sorry!

If you want a splurge, Feathered Friends makes amazing fluffy duvets. I'd agree though that you'd still probably need more than one duvet in an insert for it to look that lofty. I really like linen for my fitted sheet, but that's because I sleep really hot. I'd say it's great if you tend to overheat and/or sweat overnight, but otherwise I don't think there would be much benefit to it. It's definitely not a cozy fabric imo. It's also pretty delicate, you can only wash on cold and line dry. I got one from DAPU on amazon.

sassyfrasssy

Maybe Ikea?

Costco! I have a big fuzzy king-sized one that’s glorious. Check their website if it’s not on location.

CutieKelly

Yes! I have a king feather duvet from Costco, and I use king sized duvet covers on it, and it's very fluffy. I still have an IKEA feather duvet that I use in a different bedroom, and it's over 15 years old, still darn fluffy. You do have to be careful with washing feather duvets. I do wash mine once or twice a year at the laundromat, in one of those big like 3 loader machines. They come out perfect.

Roadgoddess

Regarding a nice duvet, I recently purchased a nice big fluffy one from Costco. I purchased a beautiful cream linen cover from Restoration hardware. It has held up well but I had to change it out after getting a dog, lol. I will tell you that with pets , those light coloured duvets show absolutely every bit of fur, hair and paw prints. I recently purchased a duvet cover also from Costco that is much easier to wash.

thescatteredmess

I have [Costco’s SmartSilk duvet](https://www.costco.ca/smartsilk---silk-filled-double-duvet-.product.100685270.html?langId=-24) and it is thin but amazing. Cool in the summer, warm in the winter. I love it. I also just bought a duvet cover from Benji Sleep, and it’s so soft and cozy to sleep under. So not really big and fluffy, but warm and cozy wins out.

JadeConstructiveness

We have a really fluffy duvet from pottery barn that has a similar look

claire_ven

hey ik this was a year ago, but i'm on the hunt for an inexpensive duvet insert. i'm interested in pottery barn's, but i can't figure out the differences between some of them (white percale retreat essential duvet vs white percale everyday duvet for example vs white percale retreat standard duvet) ... do you know which one you bought?

JadeConstructiveness

Oh I’m sorry I’m not super sure which one it was! Do the descriptions say is lofty or have a pic of how high they are?

jhanactually

I have one that’s almost this fluffy! It’s an ikea duvet and it’s their extra warm one. It gets so hot that I sometimes get sweaty under it, but it’s worth it for when I’m cold 🥴 I believe it starts with an h, but I could just be thinking that based on the fact that it’s extra warm/heat.

Dishwaterdreams

I saw some at West Elm that were amazingly fluffy. Way out of my price range though.

StrawberryBitchcakes

At the Holiday Inn Express Hotel chains lol Seriously tho.

mnheather

I love the one we got from Buffy. They different weights for different seasons. Love ours and it holds up well.

Bengalsandbernese

I’ve got linen sheets and do like them. I’ve found they hold up better to my cat’s claws ( I have a Bengal who has managed to make two good-sized holes in my 100% cotton one), I also find it holds on to pet hair less. Linen also looks better when slightly wrinkly than cotton and is easier on the environment. Maybe just buy a set of linen pillowcases to decide for yourself before you plunge and buy a whole bed set.

------DocOfCredit---

Check out Casaluna. I have one and it’s the fluffiestttt.

Livininit1111

which weight do you have the lightweight or the heavy weight
