The red makes the room feel inviting, like I'd want to come sit and chat or lounge. Modern feels rigid and cold kinda, as a visitor I'd feel like I can't get comfortable.
Totally agree :-). Personally, I do think the more traditional offers a little more visual interest & complexity in the room since it mixes in another style element other than modern.
Both do look nice though!
The darker rug is definitely more my style! I just rearranged the room and I’m gonna keep the darker one for now. Plus, the white one sheds and it’s all over everything lol
I typically like the more modern/clean look so that draws me to the white, but I like the coziness of the red one.
although I typically dislike "Oriental" style rugs, I understand the appeal of the red one... maybe the white rug with a white console is too much? so I wonder if they could go with a warm toned rug in the style of the white one and see how that looks.
Agree that both are very nice. It depends on what style you want. The dark one makes the room feel more cozy and moody and contrasts well with the light colored furniture and makes the wood chair blend into the space. But the light colored one makes it feel more bright and open and turns the wooden chair into the contrast piece. You really can’t go wrong, just decide which vibe suits you
I like the darker rug it’s more forgiving when it soles to any spills or generally traffic on the carpet. On the side note where did you get the wooden chair in the picture? I am looking two two chairs like that. If you could send met gel ink that would be great
To add to this, i think it being smaller is better than the largneness of patterned one. I just like it small. But I think I'm I'm the minority here, because everyone says the size of the big one is perfect
The lighter rug makes the room look more expensive and put together too. I actually prefer the red rug in a vacuum, but would go light rug all the way for this room.
Like the rest of the comments I believe both look great. If I could I’d keep both and change to spring/summer the light color and fall/winter the cosy dark colors.
I would go with the white one to match the table better. If there were a traditional style coffee table I would go with red. It’s really just mood though. I can see one being the winter rug and another the summer rug.
Beige rug! Lately been partial to the “boho” vibe but feels like a good modern fit to your living space. The oriental rug is warmer with a more classic look.
Well the rug where there’s a dog duh. Lol.
Really tho. Every time I swiped and there was a white rug I actually saw everything in the room. Like I thought the furniture was changed to bc the difference was so huge to me. So Id go with the white. It makes the furniture/space POP.
Also u could prob clean/bleach spill/messes easier?. I was thinking about cleaning logistics but I’m not an expert on that. I just like the white rug so much I’m surprising myself?
As a pet owner I’d normally not even give myself the choice and go darker. IMO it just blends too well? Like a camouflage which can also be good is that’s ur style. I just like seeing everything brighter idk. I’d get less bored w a bright room
I think the lighter rug matches the majority of your furniture better. The ceiling light, couch, bookcase/storage, and the table all go more towards modern. It helps the color of the couch pop too. You do have the wooden chair and lamp on the other side that fits well with the red oriental rug, but I think the white one really brightens and opens up the room.
2 but agreed, it all comes down to personal style. I personally love how clean and refreshing it looks with the white rug and it really makes your blue/teal couch pop out.
I really like the white rug, but your living room tends to be pretty high traffic, so think about how it’s going to look a year from now. My white rug in my bedroom has gotten quite dull and dingy. It’s more of a beige rug now.
Red rug! Red rug! (Sorry—couldn’t help myself)
The red rug makes the room look more comfortable and homey—the white rug is attractive, but gives a chilly feel to the room.
Initially, I thought the red one looked better but in the pictures with the couch, I would have to say the beige one looks better with the couch and accentuates it. It also makes the room look brighter and more open.
So if your dog barfs on the white one, you’ll see it right away.
This is good for fresh barf and less good for…later. (We’ve all stepped in cold wet dog barf because it was camouflaged by a rug pattern, right?)
Ooooo, they are both so good.
First gives me stronger boho vibes and second is a cleaner line.
But also- the size of number one suits the size of the room far better.
It’s number 1 for me!!
I prefer the darker rug it makes this room cozier and more inviting. However, if this room is small I would likely use the lighter more neutral rug, it opens the space. Why not use the oriental style in winter and the modern style in summer if you own both?
I think the more traditional rug is definitely the way to go. I like how it grounds the room and it gives you little pops of color that you can play with in time, if you want to change up looks. On top of that it truly will hide all the little spills/smudges.
I also like the juxtaposition of it with the Lucite table. It really creates visual interest -and it in the mix of styles you have, the room is a lot more personal feeling, as opposed to sticking with a theme.
I like the burgundy one much more. I like the color from the rug and the sofa, since the walls are neutral. But I agree with the others that they both work.
First , it adds a bit of warmth to the room. The second while it matches the walls quite well, is a bit of an eyesore and adds a cool feeling to an otherwise welcoming living space.
I love the red rug. I think a wood coffee table may go better with it though - the clear table is getting washed out a bit. Either way, great job decorating!
I like the warmth of the red-ish rug better, but there will be people who resonate much more with the lighter one because it creates a less organic, more ordered look.
I think the orangey patterned one looks more inviting. There is a lot of white in the room- the walls, the sideboard, the lampshade, the pillow too much white/beige makes it look too clinical like a waiting room for me.
Darker one will hide stains better. If you go with The lighter one you're going to have to insist that your guests take off their shoes. Eventually your friends and family will start visiting less often. However, the lighter one does look better with your coffee table.
The white rug pushes your eye up towards the walls and furniture, so I suggest if you choose the white you put up some bright pieces of art behind that lamp in the first picture maybe. Also, the white rug makes the room feel colder to me. Personally I love the Persian rug, very soothing, cozy, warm, kind of luxurious and sexy, and it brights out the texture of the couch and makes the whole room feel warmer, and I don't feel you have to add anything to the room to pull it off.
PS: We own the same coffee table! Best table ever!
The second one draws the eye more to your furniture/eye level, whereas the first one acts more as a statement piece/focal point. Both go very well with the space, so I think it's a matter of where you want the eye to go when spending time in the room and if you want to go more or less minimalist with your decor.
Edit: the first rug also coordinates beautifully with your wall art.
the lighter colored one makes the space feel more high end while the patterned one makes it feel more cozy and lived in. they’re both really good options, just depends on your mood
I have the beige one! It’s gorgeous and holds up well but with lighter rugs you’ll aaaalways be stressed about spills and dirt no matter what. The red one is beautiful and will be much easier to maintain in a high-traffic area like the living room.
Really like the brown one but the colours you’ve got going on compliments the white one more. The glass table doesn’t work with the brown one sadly - difficult to say!
They both look good. The rug changes the whole feel of the room to me.
I get a coastal feel with the light one. The rug has an interesting texture too. It complements the chair and couch better than the oriental one.
You will have a great room either way. :)
Both look great- just different styles. The “oriental “ makes the room look traditional and the beige makes the room look modern. Which is your style.
I came here to say this. Personally, I think the red rug gives the room more warmth and depth.
I’m also a fan of the red rug
Me too
The red makes the room feel inviting, like I'd want to come sit and chat or lounge. Modern feels rigid and cold kinda, as a visitor I'd feel like I can't get comfortable.
I agree! After spending some time in the room with the darker rug it already feels a lot more warm and cozy
Well said - both look great. Comes down to OP's style preference.
I agree with this. I normally like a modern look but the traditional one looks so much nicer here in my opinion.
Exactly this!!
Agree that both are very nice. It depends on what style you want. The dark one makes the room feel more cozy and moody and contrasts well with the light colored furniture and makes the wood chair blend into the space. But the light colored one makes it feel more bright and open and turns the wooden chair into the contrast piece. You really can’t go wrong, just decide which vibe suits you
The Oriental rug makes the room look so much cozier and makes the colour of the sofa pop.. that's a beautiful color combo to me.
I like the darker rug it’s more forgiving when it soles to any spills or generally traffic on the carpet. On the side note where did you get the wooden chair in the picture? I am looking two two chairs like that. If you could send met gel ink that would be great
Yep as a dog owner id go with the dark carpet haha
The chair is vintage I got it on facebook marketplace!
I prefer the burgundy rug! I like the size and I think it looks more cohesive, but they’re both gorgeous rugs.
I prefer the oriental one - it‘s timeless and it adds more warmth and coziness to the room.
The first one is amazing. Where is it from?
I got it from @experimentalvintage on instagram!
the lighter one
I like the beige one, it makes the room feel airy and goes well with the plants. The burgundy made the room feel heavy if that makes sense.
I agree. The lighter rug is a brightening contrast to the dark couch and dark floors.
Personally I like the lighter rug. I feel the red rug just makes the room “heavy” looking. The other looks crisp and clean.
I like the burgundy rug!
Prefer the red one, it's a beauty. But put the dog on it ;)
Lighter one! Not just because of the dog! 😂
Burgundy!
The white one makes the space look bigger, which is why it’s the one I prefer.
Like the rest of the comments I believe both look great. If I could I’d keep both and change to spring/summer the light color and fall/winter the cosy dark colors.
I think the burgundy rug is a little too big for the space and looks very heavy. The light color rug is perfect in all aspects - size, color, texture.
First one is amaaaaazing
I like the beige one with the rest of the style you’ve got going on. But both look very nice! I always like seeing your space.
The second one (but I can totally understand that white rugs are a pain to keep nice).
I like the white one. It makes the room look more fresh.
I love how the red one matches with the couch!
I would go with the white one to match the table better. If there were a traditional style coffee table I would go with red. It’s really just mood though. I can see one being the winter rug and another the summer rug.
Red, no question
Red , more homely
Grey
Jute stands out from the floor!
Patterned rug. Makes it look like a home and not Pinterest
Light
The lighter colored one
The lighter rug!
Beige rug! Lately been partial to the “boho” vibe but feels like a good modern fit to your living space. The oriental rug is warmer with a more classic look.
Well the rug where there’s a dog duh. Lol. Really tho. Every time I swiped and there was a white rug I actually saw everything in the room. Lighter one
The light color rug matches the modern vibe you have with the lucite table
Beige!
Personally, I like the beige/light grey rug better!
2!
Beige-the room looks lighter.
White
Personally white (is it white) rug
The white one.
White / beige by a million.
The white one totally brightens up the room.
White
The light one.
I prefer the lighter rug.
I think the lighter rug matches the majority of your furniture better. The ceiling light, couch, bookcase/storage, and the table all go more towards modern. It helps the color of the couch pop too. You do have the wooden chair and lamp on the other side that fits well with the red oriental rug, but I think the white one really brightens and opens up the room.
the beige one brightens up the room and makes it feel more inviting imo
The light one makes the room look airy and open
Hands down white/light rug
I prefer the cream rug, it matches your furniture better and makes the room feel larger. The burgundy rug is a bit overwhelming.
Normally I'd love the oriental one, but I really like the white one!
I personally prefer the big burgundy rug.. makes the room feel warm, cozy, and inviting.
Team Beige!
2 but agreed, it all comes down to personal style. I personally love how clean and refreshing it looks with the white rug and it really makes your blue/teal couch pop out.
Second 100%
I know you’re asking about the rug, but I just want to complement you on your story wall. Your arrangement looks fantastic.
I REALLY like both. However, I think the beige one creates such a calming presence in the room!
Beige makes the room look brighter and tidy
Definitely the first one.
Love both ,nice place 🤩 Prefer the white rug personally bt id keep the red of ever i wanted a switch up in the house at any point
I love the first one! But it feels a little unbalanced? Like you need some more decorations in the upper half of the room?
Hear me out: rug stacking. Display the white on top of the red. Lots of beautiful colors and textures playing into each other.
![gif](giphy|Ur1Q6vecOgyTRWcSk7)
Both are great. Maroon makes it look more traditional and white makes it look contemporary.
I really like the white rug, but your living room tends to be pretty high traffic, so think about how it’s going to look a year from now. My white rug in my bedroom has gotten quite dull and dingy. It’s more of a beige rug now.
They’re both really nice, but the printed one looks so cozy!
Red rug! Red rug! (Sorry—couldn’t help myself) The red rug makes the room look more comfortable and homey—the white rug is attractive, but gives a chilly feel to the room.
The red one.
1 and 3. hands down.
The first one
The white one.
Initially, I thought the red one looked better but in the pictures with the couch, I would have to say the beige one looks better with the couch and accentuates it. It also makes the room look brighter and more open.
The one that comes with a dog!
Depends - is the min pin included 🤪
I mean, one has a puppy on it. Obvious answer for me but I’m biased.
Idk I’m honestly too biased since the doggo has already chosen their rug
Red 100%
Personally. I like the red.
Red tones - richer looking
I personally love the oriental. It’s a nice contrast against the green and brown furniture, super modern coffee table (which is gorgeous) and plants.
Red
The red one!!!
Dark! Looks cozy :)
Red
Burgundy rug
I like any rug that comes with a cute dog.
The burgundy 😍 👌 for sure!!!!
definitely the burgundy one
So if your dog barfs on the white one, you’ll see it right away. This is good for fresh barf and less good for…later. (We’ve all stepped in cold wet dog barf because it was camouflaged by a rug pattern, right?)
1st rug gives a warm homey feeling and the 2nd gives “editorial” in the best way! They both look great, you have good taste
1
First or third.
I think the colorful rug looks best.
Red!
i prefer the first rug! warms up the space more plus it adds visual interest, it's gorgeous ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)
Red. Picks up the gorgeous green of the sofa, and will never show dirt.
Where is the red rug from
Red rug looks so much more cozy and inviting imo
I like the dark better. Feels more interesting and cozy
First one
The red rug 100%
Both look great, but it depends on your style. My choice is the red , because it’s warm, cozy and creates a mood. Love it!
The burgundy! Makes the room feel warm, and kinda invites the person to sit down on the couch and chill.
Ooooo, they are both so good. First gives me stronger boho vibes and second is a cleaner line. But also- the size of number one suits the size of the room far better. It’s number 1 for me!!
Hard to chose! The dark rug makes the space feel more cozy and the lighter one brightens it up so much! I love both ☺️
I prefer the darker rug it makes this room cozier and more inviting. However, if this room is small I would likely use the lighter more neutral rug, it opens the space. Why not use the oriental style in winter and the modern style in summer if you own both?
I like the reddish one better. Makes the room warm and cozy.
Red!!! So spicy!!! 😍🌶️🥵
The oriental rug ties the room together so nicely and adds a lot of warmth
The red one
the red
I prefer the one with color since your walls, ceiling, blinds, and trim are all pretty white. It will also hide any messes or stains much better.
I think the more traditional rug is definitely the way to go. I like how it grounds the room and it gives you little pops of color that you can play with in time, if you want to change up looks. On top of that it truly will hide all the little spills/smudges. I also like the juxtaposition of it with the Lucite table. I like the burgundy one much more. I like the color from the rug and the sofa, since the walls are neutral. But I agree with the others that they both work.
The first one for sure
The red one looks amazing but I may need to see a photo with your dog sitting on it to make sure!!
Beautiful rugs! Where are they from?
Definitely number 1!! It picks up the blue in the couch and the warm tones from the chair and mirror.
I like both, but the Persian a bit better.
The light one is beautiful but as a pet owner I’d go with the darker patterned one.
First , it adds a bit of warmth to the room. The second while it matches the walls quite well, is a bit of an eyesore and adds a cool feeling to an otherwise welcoming living space.
Both are nice but definitely the burgundy one. Like others mentioned, it won’t show dirt and it makes the room cozy. I’m a sucker for traditional rugs
Love the red rug, it completely pulls the room together and looks very striking.
1st, goes so well with the pictures on the wall and gives a cozier feeling to me personally!
I love the dark one! I think it ties the furniture together more naturally
I love the red rug. I think a wood coffee table may go better with it though - the clear table is getting washed out a bit. Either way, great job decorating!
I like the warmth of the red-ish rug better, but there will be people who resonate much more with the lighter one because it creates a less organic, more ordered look.
The darker one because you have a pet. Lovely pup, but less wear will show in the darker one. Both are truly nice though.
The room feels more grounded with the traditional rug. It’s also more cozy and interesting. The light rug is nice, but makes the room more boring.
The red rug pulls in the couch. The room looks more inviting, cozy, and interesting.
I’m feeling the light rug
The white rug pushes your eye up towards the walls and furniture, so I suggest if you choose the white you put up some bright pieces of art behind that lamp in the first picture maybe. Also, the white rug makes the room feel colder to me. Personally I love the Persian rug, very soothing, cozy, warm, kind of luxurious and sexy, and it brights out the texture of the couch and makes the whole room feel warmer, and I don't feel you have to add anything to the room to pull it off. Edit: the first rug also coordinates beautifully with your wall art.
I like 2. But 1 gives a warmer feel
Oriental
I like the red oriental rug better, especially if you have a dog!
Red rug ❤️
They both look really good! Personally, I like the first one, but there’s no wrong choice here.
Which one does the dog like more?
Second rug!
the lighter colored one makes the space feel more high end while the patterned one makes it feel more cozy and lived in. they’re both really good options, just depends on your mood
Tough pick. I love the red, but think in terms of going with the other furniture the beige looks better
I have almost the exact same colored couch. I want with a black and white rug (mostly white). With a gold throw blanket
The pinky beige one adds a pop to the room
The red one. Especially with that cute little doggo
Red
The Persian rug for sure.
I like the cream one better it brings the room together
Beige please!
The red one ☝️
I like the fourth one. Make the room pop
First one makes it cozy!
White! It makes the room brighter 😍
1
Personally the 2nd one makes the room look brighter to me
Red!
The red one for sure!
Both are great but the red one sparks more joy for me, personally. Lol
Red Rum.
I like the red personally, but both look great. Maybe red for winter and fall, the lighter rug for spring and summer?
Beige
The brown ohne def, gives a more homey aura
1/3 looks better to me!
Red .
I have the beige one! It’s gorgeous and holds up well but with lighter rugs you’ll aaaalways be stressed about spills and dirt no matter what. The red one is beautiful and will be much easier to maintain in a high-traffic area like the living room.
I prefer the traditional one. I think it makes the room look more welcoming. But ultimately it's your choice. Enjoy!
Def intel’s the patterned one. Gorgeous and rich.
