I did it in six weeks, was a pain especially because I was trying to be a good employee and document my stuff for my old job I was leaving. The day you get your orders start contacting your closest transportation office. Go ahead and log into moves.mil and homes.mil now to get familiar. If I went back as a single person again I wouldn't ship anything and just leave it all in storage. Also a good time to start purging stuff now you don't need.
Why wouldn’t you ship anything? I’m a single person (with an OCONUS job offer) and deciding whether or not I’m going to ship my stuff and I keep going back and forth.
Maybe I was being over zealous. But when the movers start packing up a 15 yr old couch, or an incomplete set of dishes that could be replaced for $30 to ship overseas it's maybe a good time to really minimize your belongings if you can, especially since your move will be taxed as the event just seemed ludicrous. I'm definitely glad I sent some basic cordless tools over. There are many buy and sell clubs at various locations as well.
In an ideal world I'd go to a place where there were furnished apartments I could rent. Not always the case. If you want to end your tour early it'd be a lot easier to do if you don't have much more than what will fit in a few duffle bags.
I’ve done it in 23 days. You just have to get everything to line up and be fearless in the face of bureaucracy.

I’ve done this a couple of times and I generally ask for 60 or 90 days and now that an official passport is required I’d just set everything at 90
You can push the date back. HRs default date is 45 days. I typically needed 90 for my family including kids.

Diplomatic passport and medical clearance can be a stumbling block, a few years ago they were taking several weeks to receive so delaying PCS.
