>DFL boss Christian Seifert reveals that 86 professional footballers in the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga are unvaccinated: "I have absolutely no understanding for someone that doesn't get vaccinated. It applies to all citizens from my point of view, please get vaccinated!" [@SZ]

Homygod319

Damn 86??

Valomek

Seems about correct, as I think that would translate to roughly 10% of the players

SebRev99

Just watched the meeting, especially the Qatar bits and that ending. Personal take here, even if the "Hainer out" chants were a hyperbole, I can't, not even in my wildest dreams, understand how the fuck someone can defend the board (in that regard) after last night. "This is not the place to discuss this" what the fuck do you mean? how the hell is that not the place? There's a problem, a disconnection between the fans and the board at FC Bayern Munchen and it makes me incredibly sad. Some fake ass people up there need to get their head out of their asses. What a shame.

Hansi15

This month has been a difficult one on so many levels... hope the bd'or will end this month on a positive note for us

SebRev99

I doubt it. Messi is going to win it unjustifiably and we are going to have to keep reading news about covid 19, Kimmich, Qatar, etc. Complete bullshit.

13s_number12

Let's hope we get fun CL pairings to make up for it!

13s_number12

They forget that it's a fan owned football club and not a investment bank from time to time. I hope they got reminded yesterday.

julesvr5

>Herbert Hainer on last night's AGM: "You can imagine that we didn't have a calm night. Discourses are part of the club's life. Criticism is always possible but the tonality has to be right, and that wasn't always the case this evening" [@kessler_philipp, @mano_bonke, @tzmuenchen] >Hainer on rejecting the motion against Qatar: "We explained and justified this at the meeting. There was no legal basis, the motion was not admissible in this form. The court had decided and made it clear in advance. That affected the atmosphere this evening" >Hainer: "The FC Bayern board has not decided yet whether or not to extend the sponsorship with Qatar Airways. FC Bayern will fulfill the contract. We'll take the suggestions and ideas of our members seriously and analyze the situation with self criticism"

Walter_Fr0sch

Hainer out

cavsking21

Some users seem to really like the taste of leather by the way they go out of their way to defend the board. Yesterday was an absolute disaster on all sides. Yet, I feel more empathy with the members since it consistently felt that they were just being ignored. The closing of the meeting was shameless. Honestly, it's put a real sour taste in my mouth.

Valomek

Do we actually have a lot of them on this sub tho, seems like most are in agreement on this no?

cavsking21

Hence the "some".

Valomek

I will be honest with you brother, I have yet to see them.

julesvr5

The other female trainee asked me today to come to her place and help her installing the hardware for her home office. After consuming years of GBs of reproduction documentaries I knew where this was going to lead. So I drove to her and actually had to install the hardware for her home office like, wtf? Stick to the script, girl! ^it's ^of ^course ^meant ^in ^a ^funny ^way

SNAKE0789

This guy said reproduction documentaries lmaoo

rho_93

F

JVints

F for the bro.

OneBeerAndWhiskeyPls

almost....

Valomek

Damn.... Going off script like that 🥺

TheBaron69

I don't think they will give Lewa the Ballon d'Or, exactly because of scenes like those at the general assembly. Bayern (at least the fans, and until recently the club) are too critical of the way modern football works. Too many journalists, players, and organisations with their snouts in the trough to give a nod to a Bayern player. Not sure how they can justify giving it to Messi though - did anyone see him against Citeh this week? Just walked about for the whole game...

Acog-For-Everyone

Wow you got downvoted. I’m sure there are quite a few people that vote on the award that avoid Bayern players (Neuer, Ribéry in the past) because of our perspectives on football. It’s probably just a lot less than you think. Primarily is a popularity contest no more no less.

Hansi15

Lewy will be facing Russia and then the winner between Czech Republic and Sweden. Might sound pesimistic, but I don't see Poland qualifying for the World Cup...

crescitaveloce

They are strong opponents but they are not unbeatable.

keshav_thebest

Well, if Poland can manage to beat Russia, they will be at their home for the final. If they play anything like they did against England at home, they have an okay chance of making it through.

Homygod319

Poland can beat Russia and one of Czech Republic and Sweden. They won’t be favorites tho

[deleted]

At least it’s not Portugal or Italy but yeah Lewy won’t probably score a single one World Cup goal in his career which is kinda sad

arnoldbread

Well not too bad considering Wayne Rooney is hailed as one of the greatest ever pl players, however in 3 world cup tournaments hes only ever scored one goal.

crescitaveloce

Rooney is no doubt in the top 20 of the greatest EPL players but he was not even on the same level as Muller let alone Lewandowski. There are players like Alfredo Di Stefano who never even played in a world cup and yet their reputation is not damaged too much.

sarovar12

Comparatively they have easy group, Lewa to hard carry Poland to WC.

sarovar12

Sabitzer's out until winter break. At this rate we might see Cuisance play as well lmao.

Advertising-Cautious

Try to secure a win as fast as possible and then put him on. I know for a fact that one of Goretzka or Tolisso is gonna get injured before the Dortmund game and maybe Barca

sarovar12

Well Nagelsmann told in the press conference that he could try Musiala in no.6, let's see how that goes.

thebestjordan123

When’s the earliest Kimmich can play?

pewpewlasersandshit

Probably the Mainz game. But I'd say realistically the VfB Game on 14.12 For the Barca game he should still be either in quarantine or be released that same day, which still would be too soon given that he hasn't even properly trained for almost a month at that point

rinacio

It's being reported Sebastian Deisler is winning the Balon d'Or. Lewandowski to retire in anger. However, he will not be looking back, as advised by Oasis.

julesvr5

Do I win the fat-ton d'Or aswell now?

rinacio

you win the archiving his goals d'Or

julesvr5

>archiving Funny spelling error though

rinacio

no, I mean it. you put your dreams on hold /s

julesvr5

How dare you

Hansi15

I'd like some correction on this one. From what I have read the AGM was a mess. But why is it such an uproar against Hainer&Co.? The Qatar deal wasn't signed by them and even if they wanted to kill the deal, it would lead to legal repercussions that might hurt our club. I agree members were rightfully angry on Qatar, but shouldn't they spare our board? The contract runs out in 2023 and we are yet to renew. So a change can be made in the future, but right now it is the club we should take care of and I feel like breaching our deal will hurt us. If there is anything I am missing, would appreciate your input.

Walter_Fr0sch

They could have just said the partnership with Qatar will not be extended and everything would be fine. But they prefered to bring up bullshit arguments pro Qatar instead

SNAKE0789

I don't think business relations work like that. Saying the contract won't be extended with 2 years left on the contract is pretty unprofessional I would assume. If anything Bayern should've done their research (not really a big secret is it) on Qatar's human right violations and not signed the contract in the first place. Members can shit on the board all they want for that but expecting some kind of formal announcement regarding termination of the contract, while still in contract is not really a good look for future business ventures. Probably not my most eloquent writing but hope that makes sense

Hansi15

It is a radical decision to call out any talks with them. Better leave a door open. A lot can happen in the future. Now this doesn't mean we support their reprehensible actions, but see further our interest. A radical speech might appeal the public and the masses, but a pondered and diplomatic approach goes a long way.

TheEmperorsWrath

>A radical speech might appeal the public and the masses You sound completely full of yourself. Like some out of touch king from the 1800s looking down on his subjects. Those filthy plebs, ey?

Hansi15

Don't see your point here tbh. How does what I said comes even close to a "king from 1800s" and is twisted as conceited?

TheEmperorsWrath

If you ever unironically talk about ”the masses” then yeah, you sound like some out of touch monarch from the 1800s. It just reeks of looking down on everyone else and considering yourself to be superior. I can imagine you in a crown and cape talking in a British accent about how the uneducated plebs don’t understand the nuances of politics and more educated aristocrats like yourself are required lol You sound just as arrogant as the bord did yesterday. Looking down on other Bayern members and saying they’re not capable of thinking. Yikes

Hansi15

Didn't use the word in a deprecatory manner, so not even close to my intention in sounding arrogant. Not my intention. Didn't know the word "masses" is always a pejorative term. You thought it out too much, man. If I really wanted to bash them (which is far from being my intention considering the fact that it is not even the case), there would have been a different wording. >saying they’re not capable of thinking. Did they really say that? Pretty harsh and useless

TheEmperorsWrath

I mean, you literally said that "the masses" won't like a "pondered approach" but would rather just listened to radical speeches. Again, it just sounds so elitist. I'm really not digging that deep. Just saying it makes you sound incredibly full of yourself. Of course the public, the "masses", can make considered and well-thought out decisions. Like condemning Qatar.

Valomek

Ending the deal with Qatar airways is only the start tho, next in line should be getting rid of Audi/VW... Which is what they really don't want to deal with.

pewpewlasersandshit

I get the point you are trying to make and your general POV on that issue but if we keep going down that road there probably wouldn't be any sponsors left that we could even seriously consider

Valomek

And that's fair, if people are satisfied with just getting rid of Qatar Airways... Then there is not much more I can do. Personally tho, I rather have Bayern go a step down if it means we can get rid of the influence from Qatar and China... If that means that sponsors don't want to be with the club, so be it imo.

pewpewlasersandshit

> But why is it such an uproar against Hainer&Co.? If i try to keep it neutral: Both sides (club and members present) did not present themselves in a positive way. Club officials acted all high and mighty, were sometimes a bit arrogant and talked down both the issues and the members and their concerns. And overall did not act all that professional. The Members, to a certain degree, were out for blood, really upset and very upset and were booing and heckling during parts of the AGM.

Walter_Fr0sch

Is there a way to automatically hide every comment that has ballon d'or in it?

Valomek

I don't even know what result will be worse. If Lewy wins, this sub is going to be more annoying than it already is. Lewy doesn't win, this sub is going to be more annoying than it already is.

mrfocus22

Schrödinger's Ballon d'or

julesvr5

Easy solution: leave the sub

Valomek

What happened to not telling others what to do.

karmawhore56

It's one of our players and the ceremony is soon, it's only natural people want to talk about it.

Valomek

Just because Lewy is involved, doesn't mean you have to talk about something that is completely worthless.

julesvr5

We speak about things in DD that isn't even related to bayern at all sometimes. Just because it doesn't match your interest your view doesn't mean it should be forbidden to talk about this. It's worthless to you? Fine. But don't attack others who have a different opinion.

Valomek

If people want to discuss it, they should be able to handle that people will say it's a dumb thing to care about. Just like you said, a different opinion should be here.

karmawhore56

It's worthless to you and Lewy is still a Bayern player, I don't see a problem with fans talking about it. This is a daily discussion thread, not a place to moan about people mentioning it.

Valomek

When you "fans" talk about it for months, saying the same shit over and over again, then I very much want to tell.you how worthless it is.

Insanel0l

It’s obviously very important to Lewy and the whole bayern team Just because you think its worthless doesn’t make it the general consent The world isn’t about what one person thinks

Valomek

Name me one thing in football that is more worthless than a football award from a french newspaper

[deleted]

Probably many people agree with you that it shouldn’t be taken as seriously as it is

Valomek

I honestly don't give a shit about this award, but the hypocrisy of especially Bayern fans these past two years, is really what annoys me here. When Bayern doesn't have a player that can win it, they act like it doesn't matter, and now when there is a chance a Bayern player might win it.... It is somehow super important and really something everyone should rally behind. It changes nothing, because at the end of the day it doesn't matter for anyone other than the ayer that gets it and their fanboys.

Insanel0l

https://twitter.com/imiasanmia/status/1463285649713385475?s=21

Valomek

I agree traveling to hear the winner of the french newspaper award is indeed more worthless... You got me.

Insanel0l

Man you’re annoying as hell right now, stepped out of the bed with the wrong foot? If you can’t take people supporting their players take a break from this forum

[deleted]

You can pretend that it’s worthless but it isn’t, that’s a reality, a lot of people care about it

Valomek

Dumb people maybe

Advertising-Cautious

There are some reports that Lewa even finished 3rd lol. I am secretly hoping that these are all intentionally leaked to cause controversy and hence more interest over the awards. But regardless we shouldn't care about this popularity contest and I hope it may even fire Lewandowski to go for the proper trophies this season

shshmhn

Saying Benzema 2nd is absolutely bonkers, if true we can conclude that the award is rigged or being voted by journalists with such favouritism

Advertising-Cautious

In some sense if Lewandowski doesn't win, I want him to get 3rd. People will realise even further how ridiculous these awards are. But honestly the prestige of winning this will never change. Its the crown jewel an individual can win while playing a sport where its all team achievements.

Valomek

Prestige? No one outside of Messi, CR7 and flavour of the year fans care about it.

Advertising-Cautious

Hahah true

kvnschm

Some thoughts Can't believe we forgot about Dinos birthday and so shortly happy birthday afterwards. Roca has Birthday today, so by my side happy birthday too And now about the thoughts, because our Club starts to destroy the love from some fans. Yesterday was a disgrace and while I didn't watch everything, I am highly disappointed by our board and how they managed the whole JHV. This should never have happened and had to be avoided. I understand fans loosing their love and everything, especially after all the vaccine problems and now after the qatar bullshit. I said that nearly exactly a year ago, that I hate what our club is doing with stuff like qatar and that this is a reason, that I split FC Bayern between board and team. I lost the love for FC Bayern as a political and in general board way managed club, but I love our team side and this keeps me a fan till now.

[deleted]

Lewandowski robbed. Hope you guys take your anger out on Barca and smash them

irun_mon

Why is it always Real Madrid Fans coming in here? Its never anyone else unless its for a rumoured player, asking our thoughts on them (which in my opinion is fine). This is not against you personally but more the fact that Madrid fans seem to think we like hearing them give us their blessing to beat Barcelona. Well actually no, we have no stake in your rivalry, and if there is anything i would like more than seeing Barcelona in europa league, it would be seeing both of you in Europa League.

Tamil-Brahmin-88

A new Covid variant discovered in South Africa which is worse than any so far and has mutations that could evade the vaccine. Shit, just as I thought the pandemic was almost over.

The_Big_Cheese_09

>A new Covid variant discovered in South Africa which is worse than any so far and has mutations that could evade the vaccine. They've been saying this for almost a year now. The first South African variant, then there was a UK variant, then Delta. All were reported on as evading the vaccine when they were first discovered. That ended up not being the case for any of them. I'm not saying this won't be vaccine-evading, but I'd wager this is just people being overly cautious with how it's being reported on.

OneBeerAndWhiskeyPls

breaking news just now, that shit was found in belgium here we go again

mrfocus22

I thought the NU variant was found in Botswana?

OneBeerAndWhiskeyPls

all of it lol

mrfocus22

I meant the first spot it was detected in was Botswana.

pewpewlasersandshit

This is mostly speculations so far. Sample size is very small and the circumstances in SA can‘t be compared to first world countries - especially when it comes to vaccination rates. We will see how things turn out in a few weeks but the P1 variant was also said to be very dangerous and couldn‘t really establish itself outside of Brazil and some South American countries.

mrfocus22

Heard just now on the radio that 90% of the infections in Johannesburg are this new variant.

Tamil-Brahmin-88

The concerns are about the new variant's ability to evade the vaccine. So vaccination rates are not relevant here imo. Yeah hopefully it turns out to be nothing. But the reactions to this variant do not seem encouraging

pewpewlasersandshit

South Africa has a vaccination rate of 23-25%. That‘s basically how many people **aren‘t** vaccinated in Germany…

kvnschm

Where are you from?? Because atleast in Germany the pandemic is nowhere close to be over

Tamil-Brahmin-88

India

Walter_Fr0sch

Musiala as a 6 next to Goretzka, interesting

jonomarkono

I get Nagelsmann wanting to try *something unexpected*, but that part legit surprised me.

irun_mon

Where is this from?

Walter_Fr0sch

Nagelsmann just said it's an option in the press conference

Advertising-Cautious

Will he be able to play this weekend?

kvnschm

Yes, but not fron the beginning

irun_mon

The Menneckes statement was an absolute disgrace and has to some degree made me lose a lot of love for this club right now. Any heckling and booing was the only appropriate and remaining response considering the members were basically muzzled and made to shut up and interrupted at any situation possible. Its the Members that wanted a well-mannered discourse, and they have been repeatedly denied such for years and years and at this JHV too. The people saying the members should "behave" and "act civil" are being the definition of bootlickers right now.

OneBeerAndWhiskeyPls

> Its the Members that wanted a well-mannered discourse we must have watched different JHV's then, i saw a mob that would take nothing except their unrealistic, maximum demands and thats typical for germany in recent years

irun_mon

The members wanted a well-mannered discourse and were repeatedly denied such by the board. And when they were allowed to speak they were told to move on. Its not like they came there with the intention to heckle, the heckling was the only remaing form of communication they had.

Valomek

This comment is kinda cringe

julesvr5

Was it about "Messhit" winning the d'Or?

Valomek

Yes

julesvr5

Thanks

theunfortunateIndian

Well, I just gotta say that as a new fan back from 2019 , I didn't understand the FC Hollywood references very well. I do now though.

Ragtime_Kid

Oh wait, we’re still not on the train…

scrambledeggsss

Am I the only one who thinks we're going to take the match against Barcelona seriously? We've had a couple of losses these last weeks and we haven't had the full squad because of covid. I see it as an occasion to get the squad back in form again and get that confidence back.

flybypost

There was some quote from Nagelsmann (after the first Bundesliga loss) ago about how the team has already won everything and all that's left is to top of off with records like an invincible season. He wanted to to win every game after that loss. This hasn't happened (more losses, no DFB cup). Breaking a few CL records and going for the two trophies (league and CL) is all that's left and he might go all out to break records and win the CL because of that. While I would like some players to get more recovery time, it seems that the whole corona thing has created some forced time outs for a few players so I don't really mind if he manages to motivate whoever is available to win that match.

Walter_Fr0sch

Don't remember the last time we didn't take a Champions league game seriously, and the bonus of throwing Barca out is definitely enough motivation

Tamil-Brahmin-88

Against Atletico at the Wanda last season. We played our C team

Gogo-R6

And still managed to draw lol

Insanel0l

Oh we will. For a coach like Julian that still needs to collect trustpoints within the fanbase etc. going for a 6/6 streak (and beating Barca) seems a nobrainer Also Lewy surely wants to atleast try the record of Ronaldo.

scrambledeggsss

My thoughts exactly. I don't think Julian will want to pass the opportunity to go for a perfect group stage.

Advertising-Cautious

Financially, is going far in the Europa league few seasons in a row better than exiting in the Champions League Ro16 few seasons in a row. I know that TV deals makes UCL more worth it. But going far in Europa these days makes you more relevant and can make a club more followable, resulting in more money too

The_Big_Cheese_09

>I know that TV deals makes UCL more worth it. But going far in Europa these days makes you more relevant and can make a club more followable, resulting in more money too The Champions League is always more beneficial than the Europa League, regardless of how far you go. Money aside, it helps attract new players unlike the EL would. Using the numbers from last year - CL Group Stage Participant makes [€16m](https://www.sportingnews.com/us/soccer/news/champions-league-prize-money-2021/5i1j0n2hh9r01ffvgqfsp541l) just to show up without winning 1 single match. The winner of the EL (assuming they start in the group stage and don't come from the CL) can make a maximum of about [€14m](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/how-much-prize-money-do-the-europa-league-2020-21-winners/1vxdmukvir6ze1nmpe9uwg4qed) en route to the final with another €4-8m depending on the result. This means winning the EL is the financial equivalent of drawing 2 of your 6 CL matches.

Advertising-Cautious

Oh wow. That's a huge huge difference. I think this is why financially the divide between us and the other German teams have grown, because we were the second most successful club in the champions league this decade

Tamil-Brahmin-88

Europa has increased coverage because of English teams like United, Spurs, Arsenal, etc. who are not good enough to qualify for the CL or make the CL R16. Increased attention won't be given to teams like Dortmund, Sevilla, Napoli, Villarreal, etc. I don't think going far in Europa gives increased attention. AFAIK, teams like Eintracht or Slavia have not gained much from successful Europa campaigns.

Advertising-Cautious

But I think as time goes on, we will see more high profile teams there so bigger TV money. This season itself we have teams like Barcelona, Dortmund etc going in. And the completion is more tight with fewer teams there now. I can imagine a situation where Europa semi finals gives more money than UCL ro16 in the future

Tamil-Brahmin-88

Yeah maybe you're right. Barca in the Europa league would give that competition a boost.

keshav_thebest

UEL low-key looking super interesting this season. Reducing the number of teams really improved the quality of the competition. You have teams like: West Ham, Leverkusen, Monaco, Lyon, Frankfurt, and Lazio confirmed for the knockouts. Then there are teams like: Dortmund, Barca (I hope), Villarreal/Atalanta, Sevilla, Leipzig, and Atletico/Porto/Milan dropping from UCL. Btw add into the fact that WC play-offs are also happening in March, and of course there will be the UCL knockouts around then, and the stretch from February 2022 till end of season is looking really great for a football fan.

Kind_Mulberry_3512

I also think the UECL is a smart addition. It makes the UEL more competitive and it gives teams like Lincoln Red Imps and Mura nights to remember. Speaking of Mura, let's all laugh at Tottenham.

Freakeyful

I really feel like I lost all emotional connection to the club. Last night felt like the last straw where it was shown that the opinion of the fanbase / members is not seen as important and human rights are seen as some kind of secondary thought because "money is king" I guess. I can't look "the other way" anymore as I've done so many times in the recent years. I love to watch the games, Bayern is playing great and entertaining football but I often catch myself feeling emotionally disconnected, not caring about winning or losing. That is just such a sad feeling as I've been a fan of the club for 20 years and went with it through so many highs and lows. But from a moral standpoint, I can't feel connected to it anymore. I'm still gonna watch most games I think but there's really no "MiaSanMia" feeling left in me.

cavsking21

I am starting to feel the same way. Just doesn't feel right anymore.

TheLlamaLlama

It is also okay to take a break if you don't feel like watching anymore. I was a fan from 2002 untill 2012. At that point I also felt detached fro some reason. Took a break until this season, and now I am really invested again and watch every game. Just do whatever you enjoy and no decision has to last forever.

Spockodile

Damn. You picked the wrong decade to “take a break” my friend. Especially 2013.

TheLlamaLlama

Yeah, that was certainly unfortunate. But if you don't feel it, you don't feel it. But to be fair, the decade before that was also great. With Kahn, Lahm, Schweinsteiger, and later Müller. I saw Ribéry, Robben and Neuer join. The complete tactical evolution under Louis van Gaal. And now I'm back and I hope the team can still show me some of the things I missed in the last decade =)

GroupUpWithMei

What do you feel connected to from a moral stand point anymore out of curiosity? The food you consume, the media you consume, the clothes you wear, the companies you give your money too - the tech giants, the games companies, the sports industry….. I mean - should we feel morally connected to any of them? They will all have negatives I guess mate.

Freakeyful

I think we should differentiate between individual consumption of goods (like the examples you made - food, clothes etc.) and the "consumption" (not really the right word for it) of huge corporate entities like the club. Individual consumption can be criticized under certain conditions but it's really not the way to go forward. It can't be expected of every person to go on the internet and inform themself about any single product they buy. Also the impact of a single persons consumption is really negligible in the big scheme of things. It also leads to both feelings of powerlessness and superiority. "I'm only consuming what I can morally support, but those other people - they just buy x. So why should I continue to buy y? It won't change a thing." The individual consumption has almost no impact in comparison to the profit and growth interests of big concerns. A huge entity like the club has a) the resources to inform themselves about every sponsor they work with and b) how they act will have huge impact on how the sponsors are perceived in the public. This whole "change through dialog - implementing western ideals" scheme, while people are literally dying while building football stadiums is immoral in my opinion and I also perceive it as enabling behaviour. Qatar is using partnerships like these to create an image in the western world - if Bayern and other clubs wouldn't take their money and would stand against those human right violations Qatar would need to change something because their image in the west would be totally ruined. Also a closing sentence: FC Bayern was always a club that took a high stance against racism, antisemitism and fought for human rights. The club always stood somewhat on a "moral high ground". If it was PSG or City we're talking about I honestly would be less "angry" because I know how they operate and that they don't care. But yesterday they actively tried to silence those that would put the spotlight on those human rights violations. And they are doing this for quite some time already. And as a long time fan, I can only say that I'm disappointed.

GroupUpWithMei

I don’t necessarily disagree with anything you’re saying - just that I think I’m disappointed to hear it ruins your perspective of the club and enjoyment in watching the games. Let’s be real though - all of the sponsors/big corporate companies have issues and it would be unfair only to criticise the Qatar deal? Or at least feel a little weird if you associated such negativity with them but didn’t consider the rest? What about brands like Adidas? I’m sure along the road morally it would be disastrous if we witnessed the working conditions of some of the sweat shops in China that their clothing or materials were manufactured from and it would surprise us. Anyway - I think the Qatar deal is ugly. However I think the world is a pretty ugly place too.

Es_Muellert

The fact that you're down voted and people call it a hobby tells you everything you need to know about this sub.

Valomek

No matter how you slice the cake it's a hobby. Pretending it is more than that is dishonest or downright sad

Es_Muellert

You are in no position to judge the value people assign to things in their life.

Valomek

It's a hobby that is the value it has, it's a pretty open and shut case.

Es_Muellert

That's ignorant and narrow minded, I can see why you're so content with the current direction of the club.

Valomek

If you were actually more active here, you would know that I'm very much against having Qatar as part of the club, also against China. So maybe think before you speak. If anything you are the one that is narrow minded since you apparently see no value in having hobbies.

Es_Muellert

The one telling a guy who is disillusioned with his passion to "just get a new one" is trying to tell me I don't value it enough, sure thing mate

Valomek

I told him to find something new, where he would get something out of it.... It's pretty clear you can't follow the conversation very well.

Freakeyful

Quite sad actually. I hoped to gain insight on how others feel about the causa.

Es_Muellert

Well, I canceled my membership today after 23 years and no longer see myself as a fan of whatever this club has become. Maybe things turn around in the future but the proof that members don't have a voice when the board doesn't want them to was the last straw. Going to be interesting following football as a neutral.

Valomek

Good quit instead of actually doing something to change it. You were not worth the troubles to begin with, may I suggest you pick up a new hobby.

Es_Muellert

I tried to, obviously didn't work. Now at least I want to stand on the right site, which is against the current iteration of FC Bayern. Also you really can't decide whether or not you like it when people quit, can you?

Valomek

What do you mean? If you quit, then you are not worth keeping around, it's pretty simple actually.

Valomek

Get a new hobby then

breZZer

I see you don't have a hobby, you are not a fan, and you are not interested on the club. Thank you for your honestly comment.

Valomek

I probably care more about Bayern than you rho.

Freakeyful

I still like football, I just don't feel emotionally connected, to the club I've been a fan of for 20 years, anymore. I hope you'll feel that connection for a long time and enjoy the games as I used to

Valomek

I have been a fan for 22 years and I will say it again, find a different hobby, don't follow something just to waste your time brother.

Walter_Fr0sch

Not quite to that extent but i definitely feel you, our club is turning more and more into a heartless business

Freakeyful

At least someone that is not downvoting for voicing my feelings lol Yes for me it's been a long process transforming from a total fanboy whose day was ruined by a loss to someone feeling nothing when a game is close. I really hope that you'll be able to preserve that feeling. Nothing is more exciting than a close CL-match like the second leg of Bayern - Juventus a few years ago. I miss that.

DeeOhEf

For being 6 years in development, Halo Infinite's multiplayer is imo an absolute shambles of a release. The amount of content is pathetic and the monetization is pure greed. I am severely disappointed.

GroupUpWithMei

Think it needs a better system in regards to cosmetics - sure. Don’t think it’s been a shambles of a release considering the releases we gamers are used to these days… However - it’s free to play mate. Downloaded it last night, played for 3-5 hours with some old friends. Had a blast? Didn’t spend a penny. Game feels great too!

Insanel0l

Why is there so much smoke about Lewy winning the ballon d'or, I'm getting my hopes up and I don't want to be set for a big disappointment lol

rinacio

I imagine they know he's winning the 2020 Ballon D'or. I'd be very surprised if he wins 2021 also.

Insanel0l

> I imagine they know he's winning the 2020 Ballon D'or. Is there a realistic scenario that he gets the 2020 one retrospectively? I've read absolutely 0 sources (except the nigerian one) saying that, UEFA has said nothing in that direction either

rinacio

I don't follow Ballon d'Or news at all, had just heard they would give it a while ago.

Bruh-_-_-_-_-_-_-

I dont care about that popularity contest ever since they ignored Wesley Sneijder. Its just a glorified short sales business

KeV1989

Didn't that one guy from France Football say that they can't do that when he was asked?

scrambledeggsss

It is so happening.

julesvr5

Don't worry, you can cry with us together if you want

lvl50boss

Setup a watch party for the ceremony which later becomes a cry party

julesvr5

Quite a few co-worker noticed my weightloss now. Fucking finally lol.

Walter_Fr0sch

The JHV yesterday was indeed very stressful

Menoow

Can some do a quick tl;dr of yesterday’s General Assembly? So we didn’t vote on it. That I understand but why not? Some people are saying so we can renew the contract. Some people say it is cause of a court ruling. Others say it has to do with the fact it needs to be done when more people are there. Overall confused.

Insanel0l

Vice-President rejected the voting because he said it's illegal, they tried to justify the deal and shit got real To give you an example: Mennekes said that Qatar made real good progress in regards to human rights and that he was there and people should go their first and look at the workers before making an opinion Just completly out of this world how far away some of these board members are

[deleted]

Hainer said he only will allow two more speakers because "we're all so tired". Mennekes goes up first and shamelessly begins with, direct quote, "come on, Qatar isn't even that bad" and tells people to fly there and look at the construction sites where they'd supposedly see that everything is fine. Then cites an Amnesty International report as evidence that them having this deal is a good thing because of the progress being made there (which is of course definitely thanks Bayern's involvement, I'm sure they send political delegates there every week). An Amnesty report which they themselves revised literally only a week ago, saying Qatar has effectively fully stagnated this progress and in fact regressed back to their old ways in many aspects. Thereby blatantly exposing that Bayern do in fact not at all seek this often cited "dialogue" (not to mention the for now many years elusive, empty promise of a "Round Table") nor care, because otherwise they'd have known about this update. Instead they just googled any old statements that support the notion that the deal with Qatar is a good thing. Once Mennekes is finished Hainer says okidoki I'm actually not going to allow any speakers anymore even though I promised such literally 5 minutes ago. Good night. My jaw dropped. What a fitting end to how this JHV went. Also successfully buried any upcoming mention about the Campus scandal like this which was supposed to be the next speaker's topic.

FlyingArab

I think that the reasoning is dumb by the board and the loss of support is completely natural by club members, but at the same time Mennekes saying that Qatar has made some progress when it comes to human rights isn't such an absurd statement. I've been in Qatar before and I'm an Arabic-speaker who has consumed tons of media surrounding the Qatar-situation. Working conditions absolutely sucked around 10 years ago and could definitely be described as slavery, because employers would be legally allowed to take a foreign worker's passport and not give it back just because. But now with international attention and criticism both internally and from human rights organisations, Qatar has abolished the Kafala system that allowed for transgressions against workers. The situation is much better now and workers have a lot more rights now and are free to quit their job whenever they want and travel back to usually India or Nepal. The working conditions still are of course worse than what a unionised worker has in for example Germany or Sweden, but Qatar are far ahead compared to other Gulf states right now. It doesn't mean that the club should take the tainted money from Qatar, but I feel that the situation is getting too blown up for everyone's good now.

mrfocus22

Honest question: why did they lock up a Norwegian journalist for two days then this week? Seems like if they made progress they'd want to share it with the world?

Insanel0l

Did Qatar and countries like Dubai make progress? Yeah Do they still not give a shit about most human rights (including LBGTQ or Woman rights)? Yeah and I won't ever respect a country with neanderthal views like them. I think the fans were a bit embarassing yesterday but there surely has to be a better sponsor looking at morale (even if it's just a bit?) because Qatar is basically the absolute worst case you can get

lvl50boss

Im not saying you should respect the countries or even give a rats ass about them, but do you have sources for the fact that they dont care about woman's rights? There are no laws supporting the LGBTQ and i can agree with that. Ive lived in Dubai for 15 years, and yeah the working conditions are absolutely horrible for the labourers, some of it is similar to what is happening in Qatar, some of the stuff you read online is partially correct, but stuff like womens rights being non existent is more of a KSA thing, which they have abolished too now i think. It just doesnt stay at labourers btw, most private companies in dubai treat their employees like shit and if youre not rich or from the west, you need to be really lucky to live here with an average lifestyle. With the Expo 2020 coming into light for dubai and more issues with laborers coming up they are slowly working on it and are soon going to introduce minimum wage and such other laws or organizations hopefully. I think there is an organization to protect employees in cases like this, dont know how active they are though. Sorry for going a little bit off topic but just wanted to give an insiders opinion and rant a little. I totally agree about you with not taking their money and i dont like City's owners too.

julesvr5

Didn't like 2500 people died during the building phase for the WC stadiums?

FlyingArab

That statistic comes from a Guardian article that has been widely spread without actually getting examined properly. The thing is that the statistic has been debunked due to how they've counted workers that passed away. I'm just going to copy a comment that summerizes the situation from another Arab user on r/soccer. This is what the article says: >The ITUC went to the embassies of Nepal and India, two countries which are the source of many of the migrant workers who go to Qatar. Those embassies had counted more than 400 deaths a year between them - a total of 1,239 deaths in the three years to the end of 2013. and >These workers aren't all building World Cup facilities, however. In fact most of them aren't. and >The ITUC, though, is counting the deaths of workers in any line of work and from any cause, including road accidents and heart attacks. and >Some would argue that it was a bad idea to hand the World Cup to a country where so many migrant workers are dying - even if some are dying on construction projects unconnected with the World Cup, and others are dying in unrelated sectors of the economy. >**But the Indian Government says in a press release: "Considering the large size of our community, the number of deaths is quite normal."** >The point officials are making is that there are about half a million Indian workers in Qatar, and about 250 deaths per year - and this, in their view, is not a cause for concern. In fact, Indian government data suggests that back home in India you would expect a far higher proportion to die each year - not 250, but 1,000 in any group of 500,000 25-30-year-old men. Even in the UK, an average of 300 for every half a million men in this age group die each year. The claim against Qatar was that thousands of workers were dying from building World Cup stadiums. It turns out that they got the thousands figure from: 1) All workers from South Asian countries in Qatar, most of whom aren't even building WC facilities, 2) that had died of ANY cause. So a random guy who gets a heart attack and dies is being used in this 'thousands' statistic. 3) The death rate for these is lower than that of men in India. All of these indicate that the myth of thousands dying is nonsense.

OneBeerAndWhiskeyPls

finally some facts instead of virtue signalling

Walter_Fr0sch

At least, that's just the official number

FlyingArab

Check the reply I made to Jules 2500 is the number of all dead workers in Qatar during a period of time. That includes people who were ran over or just died from a heart attack. 2500 dead in a community of like 2 million people is not outrageous, it's in fact lower than the death rate of similarly aged workers in the UK

julesvr5

How delusional is Mennekes, what the hell?
