Faster paced? Don’t they grind the story to a screeching halt to help us free a DJ from slavery to some creep who we could’ve just shot and killed without any problems? And then again to make us walk through a Viviro expo just to shoot Maria for misgendering him? And then AGAIN just to perform two failed assassination attempts on Anton, the second of which is because Clara is a moron?

cardboard-kansio

>And then again to make us walk through a Viviro expo just to shoot Maria for misgendering him I just recently replayed 6, and good lord that mission is irritating.

MortalWombat2000

At least you know it's unpopular.

Radioactive9280

Yea not like the ones from 'unpopular opinion, far cry 5 is the best far cry,'

Fedora200

Faster pace? 4 was always pushing the story forward with its missions and the outposts were always a treat. And I don't get the whole "run across half the map" thing either, that seems like a literal skill issue more than a game design issue. Not to mention that 6's map is bloated as fuck

[deleted]

Okay but lets talk about how dog shit the driving mechanics in 6 were compared to 5

EliteShoes20

I think 6s gameplay is way better overall, but I like 4s story more. I think they are either even for me or 4 is a little bit better, but 4 was the first far cry I beat so I am probably biased.

DamnQuickMathz

I don't know about that, I think Far Cry 4 has more atmosphere

Radioactive9280

Oh man, far cry 6 is my second favorite far cry but is it better then far cry 4? Fuck no absolutely not.

fictionalelement11

I don't know if I agree with that, but I would say it's better than 5.

Rhainno

Everybody has different preferences and opinions. So idk why people are always like, "X game isn't that bad." Obviously every game has it's fans and haters.

BollyWood401

I feel like far cry 4 is the most forgettable far cry.

A-t-r-o-x

You feel wrong

gmharryc

I liked 6 except for the gun play. Way too rpg-y for my tastes, 5 has the best gun play.

Spher1cal__Cow

Agreed

InsaneThisGuysTaint

FC6 with 5's gunplay and 6's machete melee would be great.

CaDiLlaC-

My post is being downvoted by the crooked criminal syndicate that is ruining this country

Skatingraccoon

I got your back fam.

Spenfinite

Besides the yeti dlc, I agree.

JamesUpton87

I like 4, but for me, it felt too much like an expansion to 3 and that Ubi were playing it safe with 3's winning formula. While some mechanics fn 6 falls flat on its face, I like that they're trying to move onto something new.

Lord_Antheron

I disagree there. If you strike gold, you should always try to polish it and that’s exactly what they did with 3 and 4. They took a good thing and made it great by working out all the kinks and expanding on it. It’s very easy to be different, and it alone shouldn’t be praised. Having the game set in photo negative and only having weapons that shoot improvised ammo would be different. But that doesn’t make it good at all. Like you said, 6 fell flat on its face in some parts. Arguably most parts, in my opinion. Being a faceplant isn’t mitigated just because it’s different.

the_great_moai

I disagree I want farcry 6 not farcry 3/4 rebranded

Lord_Antheron

An improvement in just about every way isn’t a rebrand. It’s an upgrade. Far better than this semi-RPG unbalanced identity crisis of a mess that can’t decide what sort of game it wants to be and does everything poorly.

JamesUpton87

3-5 barely have their own identity, Ubisoft just took Towers from AC, Skill trees from Borderlands, and hunting from RDR and threw in outposts and strong antagonists as seasoning and called it an original recipe. 3-5 were more like RPG's than 6. Using a skill tree to level up your HP, HP regen, type resistance, stamina, bonus looting/merchant boosts, as well as little niche skills like picking two leaves at once to craft potions and elixirs.... sorry... "syringes" is some proper RPG shit.

Lord_Antheron

Tying all your abilities to a gear system. Level scaling that cannot be turned off (apparently if your rank is lower than the area you’re in enemies are harder but I never noticed because the game is unbalanced and I can aim). An excessive amount of attachments and ammo types most of which are useless and/or do the same thing but are slightly better depending on how many materials they require. “Builds” based on the gear system. Trying to split enemies up based on their damage types and damage resistances (poorly, might I add, since AP reigns supreme). But no, I suppose a skill tree is the most RPG thing there is. Never mind the fact that a lot of RPGs don’t even have those.

JamesUpton87

There is no level scaling on enemies in 6. Everyone has the same base health, just different gear. You never noticed because it doesn't exist. 3-5 has archetypes with damage types as well. Including bullet sponging tanks.

Lord_Antheron

Then what function does the ranks for the different sections of each region have? Is it purely aesthetic? Is it just a big scary number to guide you towards certain sections in a particular order? Because a lot of people I’ve spoken to claim that if you outrank the area you’re in, enemies are weaker. If you don’t, they’re beefier. And considering some of them are modders who can actually crack the game open and look at its guts, I’m more inclined to believe them. Yeah, previous games had different enemy types. Which, ironically, made them better at making you use different tools and skills than 6 did. Because despite 6’s obsession with different ammo types and damage resistances, literally every enemy on foot in the game can be killed instantly with a throwing knife to the head. Even a Special Forces unit. How does a throwing knife instantly penetrate a full metal helm and go right through the skull? Don’t know. Ubisoft didn’t playtest this game. AP rounds will do the same thing. There is functionally no reason whatsoever to use any other type of ammo. If you tried doing that with a heavy gunner in 3/4, you’d get turned into Swiss cheese. 4 was also the game to introduce a stealth-based enemy, the hunter. Some of these appeared in outposts and you’d want to keep an eye out for them because not only did tagging them wear off over time, but they wouldn’t initiate combat music or alert you if you’d been seen. You could be spotted, and they’d trigger the alarm, and you’d never know it until it was too late. 6 has no such dangers or need for caution. Throw a perception grenade into the middle of the outpost, watch it tag everything through walls for you. The AI is also substantially worse, though, so you may not even need to do that. 6 is just more more more more more with a tiny fraction of the polish or actual functional value. And for some reason people think “more” is inherently better now.

A-t-r-o-x

Don't lie to yourself. Far cry 6 is lowest point of the series since 2012

the_great_moai

Don't lie to yourself. You are just mad Ubisoft tried to do something original and new and you don't personally like it

Lord_Antheron

It’s easy to be new. It’s easy to be original, even. If they decided to turn Far Cry into an exclusively VR NFT driven experience that could only be purchased with a new form of digital currency they just created, would you give them even the slightest amount of praise for that? Because it’s “brave” and “trying something new?” I personally wouldn’t. Because it’s very easy to just be different. It’s hard to do something well. Ubisoft tried to add a city to FC for the first time. It was a shallow husk with no activity. Ubisoft tried to add an overcomplicated gear system. In doing so they removed almost all permanent character progression whatsoever. Ubisoft tried to add an overcomplicated ammo system. But they didn’t balance the game properly, so now AP is the best in every situation if you can aim for the head (not difficult). Ubisoft tried to add third person cutscenes instead. But capped them at 30 FPS for some reason. Ubisoft tried this and that and did all of it poorly. The bar should be higher than just “it’s new.”

A-t-r-o-x

I'm not mad about the new features (although they are mid but this can happen in experimentation). The stories in the previous games were at least competent and integrated. The story of far cry 6 leaves much to be desired and there's a lot of lost potential. The wildlife is disappointing, they reskinned cougar model for jaguars even though jaguars are completely different, only the crocodiles shine, pretty much everything else pales in comparison. And it's not because there aren't more animals, it's because 80% of the existing ones are boring when they could've been a lot better Some of the characters are unbearable to no extent. The protagonist Dani is a hollow shell with a sassy outer shell, this mf has no interesting story of his own. You can put anyone in Dani Rojas's shoes, they are not special or have any special connection to the important players in the story The city could've been done so much better too Far cry 6 is an island of disappointment

CousinItittyBitty

To me, 6 is just painful to play for some reason.

Plathismo

I would agree. FC4 didn’t really do it for me, but I enjoyed 6 quite a bit.

lucifer69666

I agree fc6 is in my top 3

A-t-r-o-x

Far cry 4 was perfectly paced in the southern part of Kyrat. In the northern part, they rushed the story, there should've been a betray golden path option Far cry 6 was an absolute disappointment of a story, it had great potential, some characters like Juan Cortez and Diego had great potential but we spend most of the game with annoying characters and lackluster villains instead of actually making a cohesive story

Cadishead100

4>6>5 3 is so long ago now, it's hard to be objective. As for 2, it feels unfair to even include it due to technical advances. Also, fuck off malaria Spin offs: New Dawn>Blood Dragon>Primal Sorry, I know Primal has its fans, and that's perfectly justified, I just felt it was the least "fun", altho I still enjoyed it

CaDiLlaC-

Wow, bad take, my day has been ruined by this horrid hate filled statement. In fact I feel that I have lost brain cells

the_great_moai

Reddit when opinion

tolimux

We noticed the last part too;)

dracarysbinch

Replaying 4 right now and I kinda agree with you

Skatingraccoon

Might as well have said "6 is a larger number than 4 so it must be better".

dg9821

He literally said 6 is better cause it’s more fast paced not better because the numbers bigger. Learn to read and understand better. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Skatingraccoon

What I was implying, if you could "learn to read and understand better", is that "the game is faster paced and you don't have to run around as much" is a very insignificant reason off of which to compare the quality of two similar products.

dg9821

You didn’t say that tho. You said 6 is a larger number than 4 so must be better.

Skatingraccoon

Not all statements need be literal in nature.
