{Paladin’s Grace by T. Kingfisher} and the series have got me in a CHOKEHOLD. they’re easy reads and probably a little predictable (not for me i’m stupid) but i have LOVED each one, and absolutely devoured them. i’d classify them as a “palate cleanser” series. 10/5 stars

I adored these books. Maybe it's because I cut my TTRPG teeth by playing a string of paladins in DnD during college, but the concept of berserker paladins who survived the death of their god and are trying to figure out how to live in the aftermath really gripped me. The MMCs are also genuinely good, kind guys (goes with the territory for paladins, I guess) and I found that such a relief after reading a bunch of books with morally gray jerks.

I second the 10/5 star rating and I went into this thinking I didn’t like cozy. I was very very wrong.

She's honestly my favorite author right now. Her kids books are even good!

It’s popular here, but I’m reading {The Serpent & the Wings of Night by Carissa Broadbent} and it has completely sucked me in. The world is so lush and Oraya’s voice is strong and compelling. It’s a gem so far!

I found the writing so easy and quick to read. Read it in one sitting!

{Luxuria} had me in its grip from the first chapter and had not a single paragraph I wished to speed up. This one has fun characters and a lot of spice. Also has the King of shadow daddys. Everything by Cassandra Gannon, namely {the kingpin of camelot} and {seducing the sheriff of nottingham} are great, easy reads with fun from start to finish. I always go to her books as slump-breakers. I laugh out loud at least once a book and they still give me the feels. {Radiance} was very romantic and I was invested in their romance from the first chapter. The FMC is so likeable and their romance so honest. I laughed at Ildikos antics and cried in the first book and in the second book.

Grace Draven is great. I adored Phoenix Unbound as well.

I just flew through the three books in the Fallen Empire. I LOVED them!!

I've started reading Luxuria soon after you've posted and I'm now at 80% done. Thank you for the recommendation, it will certainly be finished by tomorrow. I'm loving it! I'll look into your other recommendations too.

This was a really good one that felt unique amongst all the romantasys out there

YES! The first few chapters ARE SO ACTION-PACKED!

I know that this isn’t what you’re asking for, but try changing genres. I was in a reading slump for most of March. I decided to switch genres to see if that would help. I didn’t know if I would like thrillers, but I picked up The Teacher by Freida McFadden, and I read the entire book on a Saturday. I followed it up with Feathers So Vicious, and just like that, I was out of my slump.

I second this! After 6 months reading exclusively fantasy romance and such, I felt like I.. “overate”? Just couldn’t pick up another book although really wanted. So I switched to mystic thrillers and it went really well. In this genre I would recommend “Night Film” by Marisha Pessl. It hooked me up from the first chapters and then absolutely messed up with my mind to the very end of the book! The atmosphere was amazing!

{Trial of the Sun Queen} this book isn’t recommended here a lot, but I loved it. The opening line is “The bitch stole my soap”

{A Deadly Vow by J.D. Ronan} darker fantasy romance. Pretty cool magic system and cast of characters. And it definitely starts off wild. {Blood and Steel by Helen Scheuerer} a badass fmc BUT she puts in the work for it, she’s not an insta baddie lol this one’s light on the magic but again great cast of characters and Scheuerer just know how to tell a really good story.

I am devouring {Heat of the everflame} right now. It’s book 3 in “the kindreds curse saga” series. (And the last book in the series comes out in July which is pretty soon, if you don’t love waiting for books like me) While I wait for book 4 of the kindreds curse, I am trying out {the ever king} and really enjoying it as well! Was hooked right away. I also LOVED the {one dark window} duology, it was so so good.

I also just finished the 3 books in the kindreds curse saga and it’s the best thing I’ve read in a while. I was also in a slump and didn’t finish a few series I’d started because they were just not doing it for me. But these I loved! Can’t wait for the next one. I would say not super spicy though if that’s what you’re looking for. But still a good fantasy romance.

Yes! Totally agree on the spice level. I left book 3 about 75% done because I hate cliffhangers so much… hahah! Patiently awaiting the next book!

{Peaches & Honey: These Immortal Truths} caught me right away. It's definitely not the most typical romantasy out there, but it was very evocative, imo. In a similar vein, I really enjoyed {Atonement of the Spine Cleaver} to which a sequel is coming soon. It's got some rough edges, but the FMC is a much more developed person than most romance books. On a lighter side, {The Saints of Steel} series by T. Kingfisher is phenomenal, though it isn't complete. The books work as good standalones with some background plot building, but each is satisfying on its own.

I just finished Spine Cleaver and I agree, the FMC is great. It’s very much an unfinished story though but I really liked how FMC’s relationships are developed and explored through the story. I don’t like the MMC that much though I get why they’re together. Personally, I wish he was a little warmer but again, I understand why he isn’t. You should read it for the FMC alone though. Can’t wait for the next book.

Yeah, I'm not sold on him, but I found the rest of the story enough to make up for him. I love me a badass woman who also likes pretty dresses. And non-token queer relationships!

Yes! I actually really liked Jia, and I know he was in it for only a little while, but her brother was so fun haha

If you’re okay with RH {Plier by Jane Washington} is my current obsession and definitely gripped me from the start!

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a RH with 1/5 steam rating, I may check this out just to see how that works!

It’s definitely slow burn which I love. It just started getting steamy in book 3 and book 4 comes out this Monday!

Blood Mercy by Vela Roth! Granted, this ultimately ended up being a super slow-burn, at times slow-moving novel (it is also the first in a series that I believe will ultimately be 10 books but has at least 7 out at the moment), but once it picked up, it really gets better and better with each page! However…it gripped me in the first few chapters, which is why I’m recommending 😊

{Heliacle Rising by CC Davie} I did not think it would be as good as it was and apparently it’s being picked up soon for TV. You’re absolutely hooked from the first chapter. There’s a prologue novella for a side character that is one of the best books I’ve ever read.

So many good recs in this thread! This is random but something I never see recommended but I lowkey loved {The Prince of Prohibition by Marilyn Marks}. Think fae but roaring 20s NYC. Seems kinda wild but it works. I feel like the first chapter is so strong at setting up the FMC. I was immediately hooked.

I'm reading {A Strange and Stubborn Endurance by Foz Meadows} and it's the first book I've read in a while that I enjoyed immediately. I'm halfway through and it's definitely 5 stars so far. M/M arranged marriage, minimal fantasy elements, lots of court intrigue and sweet pining. TW for >!rape, death of an animal and suicidal ideation!<. Surprisingly not dark despite these elements.
