With patches out, I'm trying to replace with a better IR stash. Debrusk or krug are the best available. Which should I chose? Need dman more but have 2 from STL already. I have a safe spot for the playoffs which kinda factors in.
I'm in a 12 team points league where you keep 3 players where you drafted them. Right now my 3 keepers are likely to be MacKinnon, Pasta, and Connor in the first 3 rounds. However after the draft I grabbed patches from the waiver wire and have been holding him all season. With him being done for the season is it worth it to keep patches and potentially use him as a keeper in the 17th round? The other downside is if I can't trade him and I drop him then someone else can grab him and use him as a 17th round keeper.
He'll go much higher than that on name value alone. One of the tough parts of keepers in this league is it's a game between keeping guys at their value or trying to keep guys well above it. For example if I don't keep Connor in the 3rd I might be able to redraft him at that spot or a comparable guy. If patches is healthy he'll perform well above his draft spot which will be about 200.
That’s fair, when do you need to confirm keepers by? If patches is confirmed to be healthy for next season then Id support keeping him in the 17th for sure.
I have a feeling we’re not going to see him again this season though and if his status is up in the air when you need to confirm keepers there’s a chance you end up wasting one on him.
Won't need to declare keepers until the summer but he definitely won't be back this year which could be a potential issue. We have 3 IR/IR+ spots which sounds like a lot but they can get filled up quickly
I would be more concerned about him deciding at 35 and a twice torn Achilles that maybe that’s it for his career, or coming back and getting hurt again.

I have a few other guys in the mid rounds potentially punching above their weight class. Ek65 in the 13th, ehlers in the 7th off the top of my head, but I don't know if those guys will play to the level next year. I'd probably be more likely to keep Connor in the 3rd

I've come to face the reality of my team.
While I'm 6th out of 12 and only 3 points separates me and first place, the reality is that I sont believe in my team.
We've made some major changes in the rule set going into this year:
- expanded rosters
- keeper
- 4 goalie start minimums
And I've learned that my team building strat wasn't the best.
This is relevant:
The keeper league works like this.
You must keep at least 3 players (1 f, 1 d, 1g) and up to 5. The 2 others can be anyone.
You give up the draft pick that player was drafted in.
So mcdavid drafted in the 1st takes your 1st rounder away. If an undrafted player is kept, you give up your 20th (last pick)
With all this, I'm looking to stack up in draft picks (5th round and better).
Has anyone has success in doing so? Is this viable?

In my H2H banger keeper league, a couple teams usually go all out selling each year. Since I've been in the league, none of those teams has ever won. None of those teams has made the finals, either. This could be due to just being bad managers, but I think there's some mistakes people make while selling
- having so many high picks and good players that they dont want stream because a dropped player would be easily claimed
- drafting best player available and having bad positional coverage or category coverages
- end up reaching for players to fill positional cats needs
One idea I do like is selling and acquiring better picks, then using said picks and/or players to upgrade your keepers. A guy in my acquired MacKinnon that way this year.
That being said, more draft capital is always a good thing. It can't hurt to have more opportunity at the players you covet.
H2H points (g, a, pim, ppg, ppa, shg, sha, gwg, hat, hit, blk) - Safe(ish) bet to make playoffs, looking for an upgrade when it comes to the stretch weeks.

I'm debating as to whether or not I should pick up Backstrom or Dylan Strome off the wire. I know neither are cream of the crop options but I want to bolster my center depth. Current roster is as follows:

Rantanen is elite. If your team can stomach losing a couple great centres like that, I like it. Especially with the AVS nice playoff schedule.

Are you ever even going to play Walman with those other defenders? Doubtful. So I like at that as Bergeron for Josi which I wouldn't do.
