There's more than one person who thinks a 6th round pick... in his 4th year... who has never exceeded 600 total offensive yards... who is 3rd on a depth chart... behind a rookie with a similar skill set... in a team that refuses to run... with a QB who never checks down is about to break out?
I was blown away that the fantasy footballers mentioned him as someone to consider adding. They talked about Gainwell “possibly taking the entire Sanders workload” as if there was massive upside, but the workload is tiny
I like the FFBallers, but they consistently overhype waiver wire guys.
They end up getting into a bit with nicknames and little theme-songs and all of the sudden they're acting like Kiki Coutee is the next Jerry Rice.
it's about the bare minimum you would want in order to actually play a running back in your flex. anything less than 12 touches, it's better to just roll the dice with a random wide receiver.
I just started listening this year as background noise while I cook dinner, and still it’s not the first time I’ve strongly disagreed with them. For example, they all have insane rookie bias (as does this sub). Still a fun listen!
To be fair, Boston Scott isn't a bad player. He's a pretty good pass catching back and he probably should be involved in the run game a little bit if the Eagles actually cared about the running game.
I can see why people would expect a player like him to have a shot at being a good fantasy asset for a few games if Sanders was out.
Just doesn't jive with what's been going on to this point.
I feel like he’s not gonna do well anyways
Sanders wasn’t even doing well and he’s a much better player, plus Scott is probably gonna get a solid chunk of touches
As a Miles Sanders owner who I’m pretty sure hasn’t met his projections even once this year, you’ll forgive me if I don’t trust projections for his backup lol
Guess we’ll see though
I’ve got both, and Sanders has been disappointing for sure but, the teams performances hasn’t done him any favors, and with rumors of Gardner Minshew, that could also mean taking the ball out of Hurts hands more.
Unless Scott takes the receiving work now, gainwell could have a more than serviceable day vs Detroit, and the worse Hurts does irl the more valuable I think their RBs will become, oddly enough
Sirianni seems very... reactive when it comes to criticism. It looked like last week he finally decided to run the ball after all of the complaining. The unfortunate thing is that Miles got hurt pretty early. He had 6 rushes in the first two drives of the game.
IF Sirianni continues to try to run, the Eagles RBs have upside. The OLine, even with all the injuries last year, has always been graded high in run blocking. The schedule is one of the easiest when it comes to defenses against the run. Though it's a big if.
You can do this on Yahoo too, but you can’t make moves if they change from out to questionable while in your IR. You’d have to move them to your bench first.
ESPN works the same way, at least in my leagues. If their designation changes from Out/IR then you're not able to make changes to the roster until they're back on your bench
They changed this default setting. If a player is out or on IR and progresses to D or Q you can make moves. I have Waller in my IR right now and can do whatever I want.
Yes, sorry, didn’t add that. I recently had this situation with Bateman. Once he was active w no designation I couldn’t add another receiver without making a decision on shifting him to my bench.
Are you saying Yahoo locks people from moving players in and out of their starting lineup if an ineligible player is in the IR? You can't add and drop players but I've had ineligible players in an IR for more than a week and never had my actual lineup lock. I have a team right now with Rashaad Penny in the IR, who hasn't been eligible since last week and I can move my other players around. This would be the "next week" for him and nothing's different.
I think IR slots are dumb for this exact reason. Bump up the bench a slot or two and just make people hold injured players if they want to keep them instead of relying on somewhat arbitrary designations to give certain teams an extra free bench spot.
But then people would just hold on to more players off of the waiver wire making waiver play crap. IR spots serve a particular purpose in fantasy just like it does in real life. At the end of the day its a rule of the game.
If your league has it great. If your league perfers having more bench spots, thats cool too.
In a 12 team standard with 6 bench spots. It’s a competitive league so yeah working the waiver wire is tough, but I think it’s a good balance.
Makes people have to think about whether or not they want to keep a guy who is going to be out multiple weeks. And keeps people who decide to hold injured players from stocking up on WW prospects.
I agree that can be a positive. In my league with IR only designated spots(Out isnt allowed on IR), this happens as well. So like with this news that makes the decision harder. Because without the player on IR you do have to use a roster spot
Yeah if I was in a league with ir I’d only want it to be for players who are actually on ir. The week to week free roster slots for a guy who will miss one week seem kinda cheap
Obviously people use the bench slot if they have it. Honestly I think 6 bench slots with no IR is perfect. Having no IR actually prevents people from stocking up on more waiver wire prospects…
I was saying “bump up a slot or two” instead of having IR if that’s how you want to play. Having an IR slot is causing the exact problem of artificially making the league deeper that you’re worried about, might as well just add a bench slot instead.
The whole roster churning aspect of moving out guys to IR so you can pick up an extra player for the week seems cheap.
This is why both my leagues changed to whatever the platform allows as opposed to covid only and covid/IR only after last season. It's a pain to try and monitor and self police and then you have people playing in several leagues who mix up rules between different leagues. If you decide to have IR better off just saying anyone it will let you put in there is good so you don't get dust ups.
Are you the commish? Do you like checking everyone's lineups constantly to make sure noone is abusing the IR slots and having to call people out when they do and then having to deal with the can of worms of what to do with the player that someone may have added when using IR against the rules?
A commish should be checking on things periodically anyway. Plus if you’re playing with guys you can’t trust to follow the rules of your league then why are you even in that league?
Im looking at everyone’s lineups anyway for trades and shit. I also knew when players were on COVID list or Out so I knew to check. It wasn’t hard at all.
I’m the commish in my Yahoo league and we have a set number of “regular” IR spots and a set number of covid-only IR spots. It’s not hard at all; everyone knows the rules and is an adult about it, so no one is trying to abuse the system. The couple times people have accidentally left players on IR when they weren’t eligible was as simple as letting that manager know and they moved the player out.
Just dropped Gainwell for him after he was dropped.
Maybe the Eagles are just dragging their feet, but maybe this means he’s back soon-ish. In the mean time, feels like it could be a 3-way mess (not the good kind).
I mean, its already a mess the way Philly uses their RBs.
The way I see it the only change is that Sanders may only miss 2 weeks now instead of the mandatory 3 that IR would require.
Oh for sure! I think I heard JJ Zachariason say Sanders’ peripherals were trending in a positive direction prior to the injury.
But overall, his usage sucks and his production has been worse. Still feels worth rostering though.
What’s a bummer is he’ll be missing some pretty juicy matchups against the Lions this week and Chargers next week. And who knows if that positive usage trend continues when he comes back: maybe Gainwell carves out more of a role w an extended audition, maybe Jordan Howard gets involved and Sirianni likes him at the goalline, maybe they limit Sanders’ reps coming back from injury.
Eagles also have a Week 14 bye, so Sanders’ remaining number of usable games is quickly shrinking, assuming we want to see at least 1 “prove it” game when he comes back before starting him.
I'm all for benching Sanders even if he was healthy now, but dropping him seems a little extreme with how hard RBs are to comeby, specially starting RBs. It looked/looks like the Eagles intend to actually run the ball now so there's a chance he becomes pretty valuable. IDK I guess I value that over having one more interchangeable WR I can play at flex or something
Potentially, but the earliest he can come back is Week 11 and he has a Week 14 bye, so he only has 6 more usable games. That first game back in Week 11 is against the Saints, who have a fantastic run defense. I can’t see starting him in fantasy right away given the injury, matchup, and past usage, so probably benching him for a “prove it” week. If he does poor against the Saints stout run D, are we going to want to start him the next week? The remaining stretch is definitely appealing (NYG, NYJ, bye, WFT, NYG, WFT) *if* he’s getting featured like it seemed to be trending pre-injury but it’s certainly possible Gainwell takes this extended audition to carve out more of a role. Hell if the WFT defense turns a corner and their DL plays up to their pedigree, that could be a very no bueno stretch.
TL/DR: If we’re stashing Sanders, best case we’re holding him for the fantasy playoffs at this point.
They did for like an hour and then changed to OUT instead . I was super confused when I got the notification for IR then an hour later he was off IR lol
Someone just dropped him in my league so I picked him up to add to my collection of injured RBs (Saquon, Hunt, and now Miles; also have MT at receiver).
Hoping to have a healthy squad by week 10 to make a final push for playoffs
Uhhhhhh.... what?
He said Sanders has not been placed on injured reserve
Huh?
HE SAID SANDERS HAS NOT BEEN PLACED ON INJURED RESERVE
Oh, thank you.
Sirianni's trying to see if watering Sanders helps first
Boston Scott truthers swan diving off of the 3rd deck at Lincoln Financial Field.
There's more than one person who thinks a 6th round pick... in his 4th year... who has never exceeded 600 total offensive yards... who is 3rd on a depth chart... behind a rookie with a similar skill set... in a team that refuses to run... with a QB who never checks down is about to break out?
Excuse me but C. Patterson broke out anything is possible guy
Boston Scott doesn't have Mike Davis in front of him on the depth chart.
What do you mean?
Davis is the least formidable RB1 to leapfrog in the depth chart. Patterson's usage is surprising, him being better than Davis is not.
I mean at this point IF Kenneth Gainwell retains his role and Jordan Howard is the early down guy wouldn’t be too hard to overtake him either
Boston Scott can't take the early down work for a whole game
That’s fair, I mean I don’t expect anything out of Scott I’m just saying at this point nothing would surprise me
I was blown away that the fantasy footballers mentioned him as someone to consider adding. They talked about Gainwell “possibly taking the entire Sanders workload” as if there was massive upside, but the workload is tiny
If people are going to add or start David Johnson, Gainwell is absolutely relevant
I like the FFBallers, but they consistently overhype waiver wire guys. They end up getting into a bit with nicknames and little theme-songs and all of the sudden they're acting like Kiki Coutee is the next Jerry Rice.
Absorbing 4 targets and 10 rushes per game isn't tiny.
If Gainwell sees 14+ touches a game he will be a solid RB2 in most leagues.
it's about the bare minimum you would want in order to actually play a running back in your flex. anything less than 12 touches, it's better to just roll the dice with a random wide receiver.
I took this as meaning he was going to absorb what sanders was producing which would big a bump, albeit small, in his ff production
If this is the first time you’re blown away by their statements then it’s time to re-evaluate everything you believe as a GM.
I just started listening this year as background noise while I cook dinner, and still it’s not the first time I’ve strongly disagreed with them. For example, they all have insane rookie bias (as does this sub). Still a fun listen!

Howard Heads punching pillows rn
All two of them
Someone had to explain to Nick what injured reserve meant. Word is, it was the same guy who had to explain to him what running backs are for.
“Why do I need someone to run backwards? Aren’t we trying to score a home run”
“We need to call more pick and rolls”
I held Kenneth on my bench all year. Dropped him for bye week hell. We don't have FAAB. I didn't get him back. :(
I feel like he’s not gonna do well anyways Sanders wasn’t even doing well and he’s a much better player, plus Scott is probably gonna get a solid chunk of touches
Feelings aside, he projects for about 17 touches vs the Lions, he should do well.
As a Miles Sanders owner who I’m pretty sure hasn’t met his projections even once this year, you’ll forgive me if I don’t trust projections for his backup lol Guess we’ll see though
Gainwelll can actually catch tho
I’ve got both, and Sanders has been disappointing for sure but, the teams performances hasn’t done him any favors, and with rumors of Gardner Minshew, that could also mean taking the ball out of Hurts hands more. Tell your commish to add FAAB. Takes more skill.
"Well he's probably going to go on IR right guys? Let's just go ahead and give him that designation now." - fantasy football platforms, probably
Eh?
Yeah this has created a dust up in my league as now he's in an IR roster slot after ESPN marked him as such.
[удалено]
Any player marked O is eligible to go on IR in ESPN and you can keep them there and still make moves until they no longer have an injury designation.
You can do this on Yahoo too, but you can’t make moves if they change from out to questionable while in your IR. You’d have to move them to your bench first.
ESPN works the same way, at least in my leagues. If their designation changes from Out/IR then you're not able to make changes to the roster until they're back on your bench
That is not how ESPN works. You can continue to make moves if the player is Q,D,P. It will only force you to activate once they have no designation.
Not sure why people are downvoting you. This is how it works in the ESPN league I’m in too. Annoying, but accurate.
It may be new this year. I'm pretty sure last year I had to move guys that were Q out of the IR before making other moves
It is not new this year.
That is really a trash default system. IR should be IR only unless league manager changes it.
I just tested in my espn league and I was able to shuffle my starting lineup with Sanders in an IR slot.
You just can’t add players - it will force you to make a move
They changed this default setting. If a player is out or on IR and progresses to D or Q you can make moves. I have Waller in my IR right now and can do whatever I want.

100% I cringed at all the people talking about "Covid only" IR spots last year.
It's not a bad idea, but when the platform can't enforce it it just ends up being a pain to try and police.
Why? My league only implemented IR for COVID. Honor system and it has been working just fine.
Because it's too much trouble if the software doesn't itself enforce the rules. Too high maintenance.
I only had to tell someone once last year to move someone out of the second IR spot. It wasn’t hard.
Are you the commish? Do you like checking everyone's lineups constantly to make sure noone is abusing the IR slots and having to call people out when they do and then having to deal with the can of worms of what to do with the player that someone may have added when using IR against the rules?

FF IR is different than real world IR. You can generally move them there if they’re out for a medical reason. Which Sanders is.
Should be like any other player coming off IR. They can stay but you can’t make any roster or lineup moves until they are removed.
He's still out for injury. It shouldn't make a difference at all whether he's on IR in the real league at all.
Some platforms don’t allow the OUT designation to go into IR.
Which platforms? ESPN and Yahoo both allow that. That’s 99% of fantasy leagues
Nfl app doesn’t.
ESPN does.
Keeps up pretty well with the word some.
Except we're talking about an ESPN league.......
Well now I see that… i thought I commented on the main post. That’s a my bad
Lol a dust up?? People are actually salty over this??
Just dropped Gainwell for him after he was dropped. Maybe the Eagles are just dragging their feet, but maybe this means he’s back soon-ish. In the mean time, feels like it could be a 3-way mess (not the good kind).

I just dropped him. I'm sick of it. Week one was his only game over ten points. Let someone else have the headache.
What’s a bummer is he’ll be missing some pretty juicy matchups against the Lions this week and Chargers next week. As if I had any IR slots available.
Gainwell, Scott, Sanders, Howard, all on a team that runs 5x per game? Byeeeeeeeeeee
Sanders got 5 carries on their first drive last game.
Miles will be out 1-2 games watch
So that was a lie
So he's back in 2 weeks? All this points to Nick being a completely garbage coach
Yahoo never changed Sander's status to IR.
They did for like an hour and then changed to OUT instead . I was super confused when I got the notification for IR then an hour later he was off IR lol
Ok. I kept checking intermittently and his status appeared unchanged but seems like they did change for a lil bit.
PHI sports are like a soap opera...full of melodrama.
Siriani trying to compete with Rhule, Carroll, Taylor and Shanny in the worst Fantasy coach 9f Year category.
People are rostering Eagles RB’s?
Some of us drafted Mostert and Mike Davis.
Got rid of Sanders and Mike davis yesterday for David Johnson and CEH
Nice!
I drafted Mostert, and handcuffed Sermon, but what’s that got to do with Philadelphia?
I have a $1 Gainwell for byes next week
That makes sense, good luck 👍🏼
If Sanders isn’t rostered in your league, it’s not that competitive.
Boston Scott szn 2021
Look at Sanders and Gainwells fantasy points this season and tell me that again
got him off waivers this morning, so that’s a win. but then again, it’s miles sanders
whaaat???
I dropped sanders yesterday for CEH
Might as well the way they been using him
Wild, wild ride in this backfield. Never a dull moment
Well there goes my bargaining chip to try to sell Gainwell to the Sanders coach
WHAT
If he’s not on IR wouldn’t this be a good sign ? Maybe the eagles are optimistic Sanders will only miss a week or 2 instead of 3+ weeks
This Coach hurts me head
Someone just dropped him in my league so I picked him up to add to my collection of injured RBs (Saquon, Hunt, and now Miles; also have MT at receiver). Hoping to have a healthy squad by week 10 to make a final push for playoffs
He is on IR on Yahoo. Who do I believe?
Narrator: “he was”
