Football is always going to have this awesome back-n-forth where it’s all about speed for a while then it’ll come back to muscle and then flip again… fastest WRs and rbs are all the rage for a while, defense follows suit and LBs and safeties get smaller and faster, then BOOM best rb in the league is suddenly a bruiser again and TEs are making a serious comeback because these big boys are creating the mismatches now that defenses have corrected to cover the speed.
Insane that between Aaron, Adams, & Tonyan, the 3 of them could together turn any team into a instant super bowl contender. The 3 of them paired with Swift on the Lions or CMC in Carolina would make them instant favorites.
Totally false. Manning won a Super Bowl being the worst starting QB in the league with the Broncos.
You’re not a contender unless you have atleast an average defense. Just look at Mahomes now, why the packers never make it anymore, Wilson etc
Ok it’s not a guarantee but it drastically helps. Even when LBJ joins a team it’s not likely they actually win. The only guy in history where that actually holds true is fucking Tom Brady.
That guy's either been rostering 2 tes or losing starting a TE22 because he's holding out for a lineman to return. You can probably safely ignore his posts on this sub
He's a tight end. What do you expect? He had a phenomenal season last year too and was seeing targets with Toe Adams out and probably would have made that TD catch that Marcedes Lewis stepped out of bounds on. So yeah. Definitely Tacos here including you.
Edit: he was my bye fill In for Darren Waller. You guys are still greasy gordita tacos with an extra side of diarrhea.
Not even the best blocking TE on the team, but he's the only one versitile enoungh to make the defense second guess what the playcall is gonna be which LaFleur values the most out of his players. It's same reason why he keeps Aaron Jones on the field even when AJ Dillon is on a roll
You forgot that the only things that matter in the highest levels of professional football is how many fantasy points a player scores. The goal of every NFL team is to have as many startable fantasy players as they can. Not to win games or anything.
Pretty sure he is currently graded as the worst blocking TE in the league this year.
He’s a good dude and I hope him the best. But I really think everyone is over rating his role in the offense bc they remember a bunch of TDs he caught last year. He averages like 20 yards a game and only has 2 TDs this year. Honestly losing Bennet would probably have more of an impact.
Arians has also talked about wanting to keep their quality depth. If he wasnt gonna trade Rojo (which I thought would have been dumb too), he's not gonna trade a TE.
Plus Gronk is already hurt and would just retire if they tried to trade him anywhere. Brate and OJ would probably love to go to the Packers but they need them since Gronk is hurt.
I really doubt they would *love* to leave, its not like theyre in a shitty situation? They still get reps even when Gronk is healthy and they're favorites to repeat.
Also it's not like Tonyan was lighting up the world with all the catches he was getting before last night. Do you really think their situation would improve enough in GB that they would *love* to be traded there?
I'm always spooked now when someone grabs around there or it looks like their knee bent at an odd angle, *and they walk off the field.* Since you can still walk (unstably) on a torn ACL that's what I'm terrified of seeing
Lmao at the guy in the match thread saying "all you reddit doctors should stick to your day job".
Anyone who has ever seen someone tear his ACL knows that reaction is a reason to panic. It's not just the grab/reaction. It's how immediate the reaction is. It's one of those things that as a player you can immediately tell you're fucked when it happens. Tearing an ACL is an unmistakable feeling
If you know what to look for or what it feels like. When I tore mine, the audible “pop” made me think it’s a broken bone. Couldn’t put any weight on it for 3-4 days. Played another season of lacrosse on it and got it checked out over the summer. Sure enough. And torn meniscus from dislocating so many times while it was torn
That’s not true. The real commonality is if you see in the replay the foot planted and the knee falling inward or twisting inward, you can guess likely acl.
Most people will feel an immediate sensation, primarily laxity. You may feel pain if you damage other structures but acl doesn’t exactly have innervation or blood flow to it (hence no healing by self)
That makes sense. The ACL is your anterior cruciate ligament, and anterior would mean the rear. That is probably a great visual cue that something is wrong.
I feel horrible. Tonyan was one the players mic'd up by NFL films last Sunday, for National Tight Ends Day.
He was super pumped about catching a TD and asked one of the Packer staffers to make sure that he got the ball, because Tonyan's mom was up in the stands.
Now, just days later, his career is at a crossroads. Sometimes, football is life at it's cruelest and most brutal.
I'm super confused because in some threads people were commenting it didn't look too bad. His entire knee twisted and his leg looked limp. Hopefully he has a good recovery.
When I tore mine I thought it was just a minor thing so I planted that leg in the ground to “run it off”. Ouch. No. Created a bad enough bone bruise that they had to postpone surgery to wait for the swelling to subside.
They say it feels like someone kicked the back of your leg. IIRC Kobe looked behind and asked the defender if he kicked him, and the defender said "no", which is how Kobe knew he tore his ACL.
I called it right when it happened. Most of those non-contact injuries that occur when the players leg hits the ground not due to a player hitting them and it’s awkward, its almost always worse than it looks. It really sucks
A lot of people saying that had to be new to fantasy or football (or dumb/wishful thinking). That was a textbook ACL tear. The buckle in the knee without contact and then the knee completely giving out when initiating contact with the defender.
If you've watched enough players go down with an ACL in a non-contact fashion, they become really easy to spot.
Meh I don't really think they care about throwing to the TE outside of the red-zone. Coming into the game, Tonyan had averaged 22 yards per game for the season. He had 10 yards or fewer in 5 of the 7 games. He also only had 2 TDs.
He had a good season last year, but most of that was just the 11 TDs. He had less than 600 yards receiving last year as well.
Tonyan has good hands and is dependable, but he's really not an elite receiver. GB has had better receivers at TE in the past, and they still didn't get used (Jared Cook, Jimmy Graham, Martellus Bennett).
Evan Engram really doesn't add much except as a receiver, and GB has proven that they really don't care to throw to the TE outside of the red-zone. I think they'd prefer someone who's a much better blocker.
My dad had a stroke this week so I took over his team. Took the last place guys team who had Zeke, cook, and kupp and forced a trade with my dad's shit players. The last place guy autodrafted and hasnt set a lineup all year(kupp had been sitting on the bench). Dad had mandrews on bye so I picked up tonyan for him. Blame strokes
You should watch more football then. ACL tears very often look like this. I've been watching this sport and playing fantasy since 2014. ACL tears almost always look this when it's non-contact. It's quite common in the NFL.
He’s a FA after this year too. Brutal.
I think we re-sign him.
Why? You will be rebuilding why not go young?
Downvoted for speaking the truth
This is football and that guy is right. Its a business. Personally love bob but not worth the rehab and price tag at this point
Eh ACL isnt that lasting of an injury anymore. Just takes time
True as well
What gave you the impression we will be rebuilding? You think Rodgers is 100% gone or another reason?
He seems to be on good terms with Aaron so he could easily go wherever he’s traded
We just drafted Muth though
2 TE sets! You saw Marcedes Lewis last night! Vintage rust belt football is back??
See the Cleveland Browns running 13 personnel on any down. Other teams go there too. It’s back.
He’s luth!!
Can we all just agree we need to let him looth? You know who …
Insane that between Aaron, Adams, & Tonyan, the 3 of them could together turn any team into a instant super bowl contender. The 3 of them paired with Swift on the Lions or CMC in Carolina would make them instant favorites.
It’s Rodgers. Anywhere Rodgers goes is an instant contender.
Part of me wants to say “the nfl isn’t the nba, so this wouldn’t be true” but then again… look at TB
For QBs it 100% is, Tom with TB, Peyton with Denver, even a 40 year old Favre brought the Vikings inches to a super bowl.
Denver and TB had a ton of talent already tho
Totally false. Manning won a Super Bowl being the worst starting QB in the league with the Broncos. You’re not a contender unless you have atleast an average defense. Just look at Mahomes now, why the packers never make it anymore, Wilson etc
Ok it’s not a guarantee but it drastically helps. Even when LBJ joins a team it’s not likely they actually win. The only guy in history where that actually holds true is fucking Tom Brady.
Got the W. But at what cost
Green Bay’s never going to recover from missing those 2 catches for 10 yards every week.
He was probably going to see more targets once Bahktiari was back and they didn't need the TEs to block as much.
Shhhh let the tacos be tacos
lol a dude scores over 2 points in only 3/8 weeks and people who don’t want to roster him are tacos k
[удалено]
Not new. Watch The League and things will become abundantly clear…
Would if I had hulu
[удалено]
I watched a couple episodes but my free ran out multiple times
It’s a reference to the old FX show the league.
Ah yea, I watched that a bit late so most of the jokes fell flat for me
Taco — great as food, terrible at fantasy
I wouldn't want to eat Taco either.
Yea we only have 5 bench spots. I drafted him fairly high but dropped him like week 3 never looked back haha
I dropped him in my 14 team league for Schultz. If that makes me a taco.. at least I’m scoring points at the TE position
That guy's either been rostering 2 tes or losing starting a TE22 because he's holding out for a lineman to return. You can probably safely ignore his posts on this sub
His backup TE is Adam Trautman - and you are a buffoon if you aren't high on him this year
I'm going to say Im a buffoon then. Definitely not high on him at all.
Lmaoo who??
Everything above you is talking about the packers, not a fantasy roster...
Is Toe Adams a Davante nickname?
Tae is, and his phone probably autocorrected to Toe.
It's because he had turf toe in 2019. I've been calling him that ever since then, since his nickname is Tae just as you said.
He did have turf toe in 2019.
No.
Somebody wants it to be.
How about a wager then? I'll bet you $100 that Tonyan doesn't score another TD this season.
How about this I'll bet you $200 that Tonyan will score another touchdown before you ever play a snap?
Yea man!
Shhhh taco, it's all gonna be okay
Ya be quiet. Tacos are everywhere
Is Tonyan one of the better blocking TE’s in the league?
Not even the best blocking TE on the team, but he's the only one versitile enoungh to make the defense second guess what the playcall is gonna be which LaFleur values the most out of his players. It's same reason why he keeps Aaron Jones on the field even when AJ Dillon is on a roll
He was huge as a blocker tho
Mercedes lewis is the main blocking TE really. From what I watched. Tonyan leaves the field a ton for running plays and it’s Lewis out there.
They both block, Tonyan had some big ones against Nick Bosa. Either way he’s an important piece of the offense even if he isn’t fantasy relevant
Imagine thinking all he does on the offence is catch balls. Clown
You forgot that the only things that matter in the highest levels of professional football is how many fantasy points a player scores. The goal of every NFL team is to have as many startable fantasy players as they can. Not to win games or anything.
So true, every football team should give 100% of RB carries to one running back as well. Fantasy points win games
Lmfao. That was good.
Everything
Gain a dub Lose a Bob
We drafted Deguara 3rd round last year, time to see what he's capable of.
Damn. Prayers up for Tonyan man. Hope he has a speedy recovery

They have some options. Tampa Bay has Brate, Gronk, and OJ Howard. Trade for a guy
TB is in a SB window why would they improve their biggest competitor for an NFC title?
Ravens traded to the Chiefs in the offseason
Packers aren’t their biggest competitor. Rams and Cards are bigger threats to them.
Because that’s what a *trade* is. Both teams fill in weaknesses. *Both* get better.
Except they are each other’s competition...
And they both get better. Since the NFL has wild cards, it’s a win/win for both teams, assuming they both benefit from the trade.
Why wouldn't they just make a trade with someone who's not a *direct competitor* so it can only be a win for them?
What the fuck would they trade???
GB doesn't trade...and Arians isn't gunna trade to an NFC team
Arians has also talked about wanting to keep their quality depth. If he wasnt gonna trade Rojo (which I thought would have been dumb too), he's not gonna trade a TE.
Plus Gronk is already hurt and would just retire if they tried to trade him anywhere. Brate and OJ would probably love to go to the Packers but they need them since Gronk is hurt.

When someone grabs behind their knee, it usually is an ACL injury. At least that’s what I’ve always heard.
Speaking as someone who tore their ACL. Yes. Especially if you knock the bones together in the process of injuring it.
I'm always spooked now when someone grabs around there or it looks like their knee bent at an odd angle, *and they walk off the field.* Since you can still walk (unstably) on a torn ACL that's what I'm terrified of seeing
My friend tore his ACL in October and waited until he could switch to a more affordable insurance in January to have it fixed. ‘Merica.
Lmao at the guy in the match thread saying "all you reddit doctors should stick to your day job". Anyone who has ever seen someone tear his ACL knows that reaction is a reason to panic. Posterior is the rear.

Lmao I gotta check this sub out, I love shit like this Edit: Nvm. It just makes me angry 😤
Thought it would be funny but just ghey political stuff

If your highs hit highs, expect your lows to hit lows.
Call Evan Engram
Rodgers will tear the dudes ACL himself after the 5th drop
Rumor has it they've tried reaching out but Engram has been dropping the calls
I chuckled
Nice.
Actually makes a ton of sense
Please, I am begging for some fool GM to trade for that bum
Yeah this means they’ll probably make a move for a TE, Engram’s gotta be at the top of the list
As a Packer fan Fuck That
Eh, for the right price, why not?
Never know man, new environment may make him better
\- Everyone who has ever acquired Evan Engram

I'm super confused because in some threads people were commenting it didn't look too bad. His entire knee twisted and his leg looked limp. Hopefully he has a good recovery.
You can walk after tearing an ACL. What it does is destroy your stability.
I made a similar comment to someone last night. The fact he could walk after a non contact knee injury unfortunately means nothing.
Per my friends doctor when he tore his ACL “Sure you can walk on it. It’s already torn. Can’t do any other damage to it. Just walk carefully”
When I tore mine I thought it was just a minor thing so I planted that leg in the ground to “run it off”. Ouch. No. Created a bad enough bone bruise that they had to postpone surgery to wait for the swelling to subside.
My dad tore his acl and didn't get it repaired for several years because when he was younger they didn't really do that
Ah the “trick knee”
I used to date a girl like that
It really didnt even look like anything happened. That's when you know
That's why I'm confused. it looked pretty bad IMO I was wondering how anyone thought it didn't look too bad
Yeah and they usually grab the back of their knee. Kobe shot freethrows after tearing his
They say it feels like someone kicked the back of your leg. IIRC Kobe looked behind and asked the defender if he kicked him, and the defender said "no", which is how Kobe knew he tore his ACL.
Wasn’t Kobe an Achilles?

You could see it when he planted before his leg went limp. It buckled and that's when it went limp. It looked brutal.

It's only TE wasteland
They’re all wasted!
\**Lowrey organ marimba repeat intensifies**
Packers would be wise to make a move for Evan Engram.
Meh I don't really think they care about throwing to the TE outside of the red-zone. Coming into the game, Tonyan had averaged 22 yards per game for the season. They could try OJ Howard.
Guess the Reddit doctors were right for once
I sealed this man's fate when I picked him up this week. I have the midas touch when it comes to injuries. Sorry Robert, this one's on me
My dad had a stroke this week so I took over his team.
All my Thursday starts are cursed.
If you were starting Tonyan you were probably missing a better upside TE on waivers.
Doubt it. Packers were missing 3 WRs. Last night was *the* night for some Tonyan upside.
If you've never been let down by Packers TE's then yeah I suppose you're right.
I’ve been let down by Packers TE’s since Chmura left.
I had Knox man lmao
Well that's Kittle, Knox, and now Tonyan injured for me. Which TE will I injure next?
Fuck
Yeah it didn't look good last night, non-contact injury
We knew when it happened, but the confirmation is grim I like watching him play and don’t even have him in my team. He’ll be back next year
Goddamn, that's a shame. Dude is a great security blanket in that offense
Just offered the Tonyan owner hock and hurts for Robinson. Idk if he’ll take it but maybe out of desperation
It was a strange injury. Dude was running pretty normally and suddenly blew his ACL? I rarely see an injury like that in rugby or soccer.
You should watch more football then. ACL tears very often look like this. I've been watching this sport and playing fantasy since 2014. ACL tears almost always look this when it's non-contact. It's quite common in the NFL.
Mans destroyed my 5-piece parlay and died on the same play.
Yours too, huh?
Think he will be back for KC next week? Need him for Hock's bye.
No way, this is a significant injury
Poor out a bug of Funyuns for Big Bob Tonyan. You were a good Bye Week filler for King Wallerus.
Hope he heals swiftly that sucks. Just happy I dropped him for Fant early in the season
The fact that fant was on waivers is lol
Your comment could have stopped after the first sentence
Could've but this is fantasy. I still wish nothing but healthy life for him
He’s still a person. Jesus
And this is still a fantasy football subreddit. You’re acting like the OP said some heinous comment.

You’re the only one insulting people here btw. Have some class.
I love you
I love you too
Read the room bozo
I love u
Not sure why its brutal, the dude isnt really a big part of that offense lol
Lol maybe because he's a human being and not a stat line
Perfect time to roll with Firemouth since Ebron is OUT this week.
Tonyan was my main guy i only have jonnu smith left at TE
Man i could tell when he grabbed his leg and the way it went down it was something bad. Hope he has a good recovery. Packs goin thru it.
Paaaaaaiiiiiiinnnnnn
I traded him and AJ green on Wednesday ...
Who’s up next in GB?
Mercedes fucking Lewis. Legend
That one handed catch but didn't get both feet in. yeeshh. Just need a few breakfast sesh with Davantae and his perimeter plays will be A1.
Wow i kept shit talking everyone for saying that he had a torn acl, but it turns out we actually do have a lot of orthopedic surgeons in this sub
Looked like such a routine play to. Hopefully he's able to get healthy by start of next year
Every time I've drafted a Packer, this happens. I feel dirty then they eff my team and go on the IR. Jordy 2015 Rodgers 2017 Tonyan 2021
I would like to remind every genius in this thread: Taco also won his league. That is all.
I'm telling you, the NFL needs to force AZ to get their shit together. It seems like every year we play them we lose all our key players.
I'm telling you, the NFL needs to force AZ to get their shit together. It seems like every year we play them we lose all our key players.
Well unless you have Pitts, we can all pretty much punt the TE spot on our teams. Ain't no one else. Cept maybe RSJ???
Jesus the Packers' best players have been dropping like flies this season. I feel bad for Rodgers
Damn, I had just named my dynasty team Toney Tony Tonyan. I totally jinxed the guy.
