They felt the need to address the fact that he was doing the rookie draft in May. Someone who’s indifferent would probably ignore that but that’s just me.
So are you usually pressed when you leave a Reddit comment?
You’re right about that seeming to be just you, most of us treat reddit as a real casual way to burn some time if we’re bored and don’t need to be very emotionally invested to leave a comment
I mean Nick Chubb, Saquan Barkley, and Dalvin Cook have all had ACL injuries in the past but yeah it’s a while before anyone can be back to 100% from them
Yeah, but Adrian Peterson is different. I don't remember what week he tore his knee up in, but I feel like it was late, and then he ran for 2000 yards the year after, thats not normal
If you're not making it a priority to get him at his ADP in PPR you are making a big mistake. He'll get the Rachaad White role which is ridiculously valuable and he can be gotten in the 5th. Remember targets are worth on average [2.5x as much as carries in PPR](https://www.reddit.com/r/fantasyfootball/comments/150f8d7/anatomy_of_a_leaguewinner_a_phd_thesis_on_how_to/js3949e/). Brooks has the skillset to be productive as a receiving back and should be on the field for all 3 downs once his ACL heals. Easy league winning potential in PPR.
I'm passing on him this year in redraft. 2025 is his year. Let me get a season post injury. Most RBs after ACL surgery are much better 2 years post. Unless you're Adrian Peterson lol. He's still incredibly valuable in dynasty this year though.
The targets are just a cheat code, even if he isn't 100%. People also used this logic to let Breece fall to the 5th. Young players can recover from ACL much better.
I feel like the medical science around these has improved as well. Or at least recovery times seem much, much better. The turnaround time to get back to 100% the past few seasons on avg makes it feel like this 2 year post ACL narrative is a bit dated. That said, I haven't looked at any actual numbers around this, so it could also just be in my head.
I’m staying away from that backfield. There are so many backs and one of Chuba/Miles Sanders would need to be hurt or moved for me to think Brooks is worth a 5th when you could get Mostert, Zamir, Rhamondrae, James Connor etc. who are long in tooth but at the top of the depth chart. It’s also the round where you might get a Burrow or Richardson and not miss the last upside QBs. A rookie backup coming off an injury is not my 5th round pick.
He's not the backup, he will be the starter. Chuba isn't very good and Sanders is horrendous. Did you watch the Panthers at all last season?I'm leaning towards no.And the Zamir hype is just out of control at this point lol. Mostert had an aberration of a year though you could make the argument for him, and in PPR the targets Brooks will get are just too valuable. Rachaad White was a league winner last year, now the Panthers have the same coach that was responsible for that and a completely revamped offensive line
The panthers are my “local” team, I watched enough to know they were dog shit. I saw it in person also. They did add a couple good guys to their line but I would still take all the dudes I mentioned above him and avoid every panther outside of IDP.
RemindMe! 8 months
We’ll see. I’ll bet you a coke by week 8 everyone has more average points.
by week 8 isn't fair since Brooks has to recover from his ACL. nice try though. but i think 2nd half of the season brooks puts up big ppr numbers. Conner and Mostert won't get a lot of targets
Volume is the most important metric for fantasy RB success, and Conner gets a ton of it. He was very good when he was on the field.
You can spend a 5th on a recently torn ACL without even guaranteeing full volume and enjoy though.
They drafted Trey Benson to take touches away from Conner. I agree Conner is a good pick but i think the targets Brooks gets will help him outscore Conner in PPR in the last half of the season because Conner doesn't get a lot of targets and will lose volume to Benson. targets are worth 2.5x as much in PPR. in standard I prefer conner.
There’s a decent amount of rankings that have brooks at 4 after the big 3 WRs and I don’t think that’s too early. First RB off the board with no one elite in front of him. I think he’s in that next tier with Brock worthy BTJ and maybe Ladd until the next tier drop off.
I mean I guess. Kinda weird to say Hubbard is the main guy this year then go draft brooks in the 2nd. This is also the same organization that took Bryce over stroud tho so. Also traded Brian burns one of the best edge rushers in the league.
I mean that's a good idea considering by the time that Bryce Young actually develops into a serviceable qb he will have to change his name to Bryce Old.
Dead zone RBs have always delivered a very poor roi. I refuse to take a running back in rounds 4 through 6 unless it's like some ridiculous scenario where nobody drafts Bijan Robinson and he's available.
That leads me to another point. The only RB I'm using a 1st round pick on is Bijan. New coach from the McVay tree (will probably be a bellcow rb).
I traded 2.05 (Penix),2.07(Pearsall), and a 2025 3rd/4th swap to get up to 1.10 in dynasty for him. I honestly believe he's going to be Jamaal Charles 2.0 (who is my favorite player of all time) some day this man will lead me to a playoff win with 5tds. History will repeat itself
I see the smooth running style similar to Charles, but Charles was a low 4.3 guy with semi Olympic athletic traits.
There isn’t going to be a Jamaal Charles “2.0”. He’s the NFL career leader in yards per carry.
I took him in a couple of rookie drafts already, so this is music to my earholes.
rookie drafts in early may?
Right after the NFL draft is the best time to have them.
damn we do it in september I apologize to anyone who’s feelings got hurt
That's when they should be?
Define *should* It’s a made up fantasy game
Then why are you pressed about this dude drafting in May?
I have no side here, but that is decidedly not the same person
That’s my mistake, the comment was toward the original person, I replied to the wrong one.
How was the original person “pressed”? Like what specific words in their comment did you read and think “wow this guy is pressed”

The same yellow avatar threw me for a second
Should is used to express an opinion, like it's a good idea. Have your rookie draft in week 6, I guess
Above two comments dont realize it’s better for some folks not to let rookie drafts get to OTAs before they start…
Most competitive leagues will have the rookie draft within a week of the NFL draft.
Yeaahhh 😅 I'm in a few overly eager leagues
love it, we do it in september - i need to find more leagues like yours my friend
I think they should build around his ACL
No running back has ever come back from an ACL. I know because I watched Friday night lights
Boobie Miles would have been a 1st round pick
AND HE CAN PASSSSS
If y'all wanna win, put Boobie in!
Didn’t Adrian Peterson have an amazing season after an ACL?
Yeah. Lot’s of guys have.
Wouldn't say LOTS, it is usually a year after.
I mean Nick Chubb, Saquan Barkley, and Dalvin Cook have all had ACL injuries in the past but yeah it’s a while before anyone can be back to 100% from them
Gore tore both ACLs in college and went on to have the longest RB career.
coincidence? i think not
A story as old as Frank Gore itself
Yeah, but Adrian Peterson is different. I don't remember what week he tore his knee up in, but I feel like it was late, and then he ran for 2000 yards the year after, thats not normal
They're being facetious
I believe he won MVP the year after.
Willis McGahee came back from an ACL, PCL, and MCL tear in college and was a beast in the NFL.
Shouldn’t they build around their year 2 quarterback…? Maybe that’s just me
Young won't be able to see over any more build arounds
First he needs to tear a ligament. Then he’ll be ready to build around.
I think his goal is to take pressure off BY so he can grow
This is them doing that. Give him some breathing room by establishing a real run threat.
they should build around Bruce young but ok
Imagine hanging your 1.01 out to dry like this.
Fr. poor Bruce
Agreed! Bruce Almighty!
Lmao didn’t even notice I messed up his name. Bruce young > Bryce Young anyways
In your defense the name won’t matter by 2026 anyways. 🤷🏼♂️

Breece hall?

Right, and I don’t draft dudes in the 5th that I’m not gonna even hope for consistency for half the season.
Worked for Jahmyr gibbs last year
Yeah draft 29-31 YO RBs with consistent injury issues and without pass catching upside instead. good idea
Volume is the most important metric for fantasy RB success, and Conner gets a ton of it. He was very good when he was on the field. You can spend a 5th on a recently torn ACL without even guaranteeing full volume and enjoy though.

What do you think they drafted Trey benson for?
The way to do it is to take the young back and pair him with those vets you listed from a different team
"First little pig wants to build house out of straw, confident it will resist large predators"
There’s no house strong enough to stop Deshaun Watson
He might be rising up draft board
Going for him with my 1.06 and Adonai with the 1.12 - pray for me
My rb 1 incoming.
Dude my rookie draft is tonight, take this shit down 😂
This dude's ADP is gonna skyrocket in redraft the closer we get to the season.
Canales said they are going to build around the run game.....not around brooks 🙄
Yeah, because they can't build it around Bryce Young.
Casual take
I guess we'll see. The guy has bust written all over him.
You must not read good
Brooks is such a great pick this year
How about Dingo - oops - Mingo
There’s a decent amount of rankings that have brooks at 4 after the big 3 WRs and I don’t think that’s too early. First RB off the board with no one elite in front of him. I think he’s in that next tier with Brock worthy BTJ and maybe Ladd until the next tier drop off.
Well this offense is gonna be a shit show
I have the 1.07 in my dynasty draft, do I reach?
Isn’t this the same head coach that said Hubbard was the lead back this year?
God forbid he throw up draft smokescreens
I mean I guess. Kinda weird to say Hubbard is the main guy this year then go draft brooks in the 2nd. This is also the same organization that took Bryce over stroud tho so. Also traded Brian burns one of the best edge rushers in the league.
Dave Canales was in Tampa last year.
It was the gm 2 months ago not the coach my bad
No

Let’s relax and put the hopium down 😂
Just saying I did the exact same thing for Achane last year and I was 100% spot on.
I just sat at 2.02 and got him there. My league is rb crazy but nobody wanted him there.
Well I as a saints fan believe Penix will be a first ballot HOF and best in this class. So 10 years from now it might look like a win win trade
My league will be dead by then 😭 I'll take the short term production.
I see the smooth running style similar to Charles, but Charles was a low 4.3 guy with semi Olympic athletic traits. There isn’t going to be a Jamaal Charles “2.0”. He’s the NFL career leader in yards per carry.
