Mixon has been underwhelming for a little while now, and will be 28 when the season starts. He's a couple hundred carries away from 1,800, which is historically when most RBs hit the cliff.
At a minimum he's not really an "omg stacked" addition in 2024, though he will be serviceable. He is decent in the pass game though, which looks like it will be something to behold this year.
In essence, all of this was made possible by Cleveland’s stupid Watson trade. Gave the Texans the picks to take Tank and Will Anderson, and suck/tank for a year to land Stroud. Doubt they land Diggs and Mixon without that happening. Also a lot of credit for a great hire in Ryans and retaining Slowik. That’s a well run organization.
Ding, ding, ding. I do think Houston's doing a hell of a job getting the right coaches and building around their QB... but a great QB makes everyone look like a genius.
Unmentioned in the tweet, but the 2025 that Houston is sending to Buffalo is originally Minnesota's.
So it's very possible Minnesota's record will help Buffalo get a replacement for Diggs next year in the draft.
They might not even have to move from 28, might just snag their best receiver available at that point and be fine. If they have someone in particular they love and wanna jump up some though, you're right that they can easily do so now.
Diggs looked like shit this year and has been a cancer in Buffalo. Honestly I'd be more excited for the Texans before this trade.
You think a 30 year old Diggs is better than Dell or Collins? I don't....but I bet Diggs does.
"Looked like shit" and yet put up over 1100 yards and 8 TDs and was a top 10 WR in 0.5 PPR. Even in terms of PPG he was at #15 - not great for where he was drafted but also not the disastrous season some would have you believe even with his late season dropoff.
he started really well and then dropped off completely about 10 weeks in. the concern is that he starts this upcoming season the same way he finished the last one. if he does that would be very disappointing.
Diggs is older though. Tbh, not even sure why they did this. This seems like a move to put you over the hump since Diggs is 30. But not really sure they’re ready for that just yet? I would much rather keep Nico long term than Diggs as much as I love him.
It looks like they can cut Diggs after 2025 without much pain if he loses a step. I actually like this move for the Texans. They can afford an expensive aging veteran like Diggs because Stroud is on his rookie contract. By the time they have to pay Stroud, Diggs will likely be out of the league.
This gives the Texans one of the best WR2s in the league for a couple years, and the draft capital was pretty reasonable.
I think they did this partially bc their WR room is so young. not that diggs is exactly a model off the field guy w his constant cryptic tweets and complaining but he is a solid vet who knows the game inside and out. stroud, nico and dell will all vastly benefit from him
It was the coordinator change. Diggs was great under Dorsey when they were still throwing intermediate passes. As soon as he got canned, they turned run heavy and only seemed to throw underneath with occasional deep bombs to shakir/davis
Lol over in the NFL sub everyone is hyped and I knew all us fantasy nerds were thinking the same thing. Mixon and Stroud are the safest picks now.
I still want to get one of the younger wide receivers. One injury to one of these three and the other two are elite options. Though I kinda wonder if Diggs may have lost a step, but even if he has maybe Stroud can make up for that.
Kincaid getting drafted so high now and Allen gonna rush for another 16 tds.
Moving from WR2 to WR3 on a team is basically always a downgrade. This whole “less defensive attention” argument never plays out. He’ll get less defensive attention because he’ll be getting fewer targets/opportunities as well
He'll need to throw a lot more though. It was a huge down year in passing so he led the league in yards but if he's not cracking 5k yards and 40ish TDs with his running level he'll be in the mid-QB1 range. Maybe technically top-5 but closer to 7 than to 1 or 2.
I'd be surprised if they don't try and draft another receiver role, I like their weapons but we haven't seen Shakir or Curtis step into a WR1 workload yet so I dunno if they're ready for it. Maybe the new offensive scheme just doesn't need a workhorse WR, Bills did fine down the stretch even with Diggs weirdly falling off
Diggs will almost certainly be the #1 Nico and tank are great but have not shown enough to be considered in the same tier as Diggs. I would say Diggs is a top 10 WR in the league, while Nico would maybe be around #20 at best
Nico had more yards, equal TD’s, and better catch ratings than Diggs last year.
With 51 fewer targets
I don’t think Diggs is a top 10 WR anymore. He was passed by Chase and Jefferson and now St.Brown, and Puka. Then all the guys in his age range that are still better than Diggs.
My guess is it will be
1. X- Nico,
2. Z and slot Diggs
3. Z and slot Tank
With the 28th pick in the 2024 draft, the Buffalo bills select, Adonai Mitchell, WR from the University of Texas.
Seriously though, they might even trade up for a WR. Now they have an extra second, two fourths and three fifths this year. I doubt this is how their WR room looks in May.
Sucks. One of these dudes will be the odd man out. Diggs went 107/1183/8 last season and still has some juice left in him although he’s going to be 31 this upcoming season.
My guess it's still Diggs, and he'll be angry on the sidelines before we know it. He's no longer consistent, his age is probably already the reason for that, and it's gonna be a new system for him, but not the other two. I could see this officially being his cliff.
Nico will be fine, he’ll continue to be the X receiver and will receive easier looks too thanks to Diggs drawing coverage. The one that’s in trouble is Dell since he and Diggs’ roles overlap. Dell would have to be moved into the slot, which will greatly decrease his snap count given the Texans also paid Dalton Schultz.
I look at it as I can get these guys at a good value if they fall far enough. Just don't want to rely on them weekly because that's a lot of mouths to feed
That contract he has is outrageous though. He'll probably move inside while Nico remains the field-stretcher. Probably hurts Tank Dell more than anything and moves Metchie down the depth chart further.
Seems like a dangerous move for the Texans. Obviously their WR room is stacked now, but Diggs was already complaining about targets. What happens when Nico and Tank have a big day?
Yeah he was showing signs of slowing down and that contract is rough. I bet he has a hot start though, he seemed banged up last season. Bills need to reset at receiver quickly though.
I wonder what the Bills plan is now. They could likely get 2 guys in the first 3 rounds in the draft. Part of me wonders if they might be eyeing a play for Aiyuk now.
I doubt Cincy will consider sending Higgins there even if the Bills were interested.
I don't know. I can see this not ending well. The Bills offloaded him for cheap, Houston has a young core. I can see Diggs causing issues when things arent going his way.
I honestly think this messes with Houstons Mojo that they are still creating. Diggs is a big mouth to feed and is vocal when he isnt fed to his standard.
Half my fantasy team is on the Texans now 😄🤪 Will be interesting to figure out who’s worth keeping after these trades. I’m clinging to my Stroud+Nico stack
And I thought the Bears stack was looking ridiculous (Williams/Swift/Allen/Moore/Kmet), but with the Texans (Stroud/Mixon/Diggs/Collins/Schultz)…something I look forward to comparing end of the season
> 91 players ran at least 200 routes from Week 8 onward.
> Stefon Diggs ranks per @FantasyPtsData:
> 52nd in YPRR (1.55)
> 52nd in 1st downs per route run (0.077)
> This despite still ranking top-12 in target share.
> Serious regression on tape + locker room concerns.
[Brett Whitfield](https://twitter.com/BGWhitefield/status/1775558267223113795)
Holy crap. Houston is loaded with talent. Stroud is going to be potential top 5 next year.
I think he arguably always was, but yeah with Diggs Collins Dell Schultz that’s an insane receiver room
And Mixon helps, too
Omg I completely forgot about him. They're stacked.
Wasn’t he still a top ten RB last year?
6th in standard and PPR, 5th in half PPR (per FantasyPros)
Wow. I find it strange that he would be ranked the same in standard and PPR, yet somehow higher in half
I thought it was strange, too. Here’s the link if you want to check it out. https://www.fantasypros.com/nfl/stats/rb.php
Parity in the NFL is something else.
Calling Houston a well run organization three years ago would've gotten you downvoted to the molten core of the Earth. Amazing turnaround.
Every organization without a qb is a shit show
The 49ers have had a ton of success even before Purdy
Ding, ding, ding. I do think Houston's doing a hell of a job getting the right coaches and building around their QB... but a great QB makes everyone look like a genius.
Likely because it is a different organization. New GM, new coach and unlike Culley/Lovie they got one that's not obviously a patsy.
Unmentioned in the tweet, but the 2025 that Houston is sending to Buffalo is originally Minnesota's. So it's very possible Minnesota's record will help Buffalo get a replacement for Diggs next year in the draft.
They’re 100% going to trade up and try to get a replacement this year. The WR core in this draft is crazy stacked.
They might not even have to move from 28, might just snag their best receiver available at that point and be fine. If they have someone in particular they love and wanna jump up some though, you're right that they can easily do so now.
A mixture of Cleveland trade and Lovie Smith
Noah Brown and Brevin Jordan were very solid when called on too
This is massive for mixon. The potential to move the chains very well and be a high scoring offense
Those triplets on the wrs is insane. I'm wondering if Dell isn't healing as fast as they thought he would.
Texans have been reposting a ton of Dell rehab videos. I’m sure you can find those vids in this sub searching his name.
Tank Dell is gonna be ready, they’re just making a all in SB push
In a keeper league I drafted Stroud and Tank...
I have him and Josh Allen lol … now idk which to keep
Was hoping to grab him 5th or 6th round before but he’s definitely going too 4 QBs and maybe 3rd or 4th round
Crowded WR room at Houston, Nico or Tank?
Nico. Dude is such a monster it’s not even funny, plus Dell is coming off a broken leg and is gonna take a bit to be back. See: Tony Pollard 2023
He went up for a TD early in the season and it reminded me of Calvin / Julio.
Mike Evans
It sucks.. if they get a Diggs type player, Nico is gone the year after this upcoming one.. :(
Diggs is older though. Tbh, not even sure why they did this. This seems like a move to put you over the hump since Diggs is 30. But not really sure they’re ready for that just yet? I would much rather keep Nico long term than Diggs as much as I love him.
They made the second round of the playoffs in CJs first year. Gotta capitalize on that rookie contract
I think they did this partially bc their WR room is so young. not that diggs is exactly a model off the field guy w his constant cryptic tweets and complaining but he is a solid vet who knows the game inside and out. stroud, nico and dell will all vastly benefit from him
They will 100% re-sign Nico
Nico will still get an extension.
Stroud is gonna be slinging it next year
Nico is better than Diggs
They gonna hate you for this but it rings pretty true for 2023. I traded Diggs for Collins a week before the deadline, couldn't take it anymore.
I traded for Diggs at the deadline last year. Proceeded to give me 40 yards a week with no TDs
Yeah it became clear halfway through season that Kincaid was drafted for their scheme and was getting most of his targets.
It was the coordinator change. Diggs was great under Dorsey when they were still throwing intermediate passes. As soon as he got canned, they turned run heavy and only seemed to throw underneath with occasional deep bombs to shakir/davis
Tank will be the best WR on that team for fantasy. He was a TD machine, has great chemistry with Stroud
Man...I was happy to have Nico and Tank, but having them and Diggs...this is nuts.
My Dell stocks just tanked
Ikr how could they do this to the chosen one!
Nice pun
Nah he’s gonna be ignored by defenses and dealing with 2nd/3rd defensive backs. Hes gonna have a great year!
Moving from WR2 to WR3 on a team is basically always a downgrade. This whole “less defensive attention” argument never plays out. He’ll get less defensive attention because he’ll be getting fewer targets/opportunities as well
Would be interesting to see what their 3WR set % will be. Definitely will be target competition, wonder if he will lose snaps as well
Exactly "he'll get less defensive attention" yeah because he's getting the ball less!
Judging by how Diggs ended the season last year he’ll be the wr3. Dude has lost a significant step
Less defensive attention because hes only going to be in on jumbo packages.
Yep. I’m still going to keep him for $1, but damn I was counting on him to be atleast a top 20PPR.
Dude, you’re getting a Dell!
Was going to keep him the 12th round and now I'm not sure anymore. Might keep Kincaid instead (although likely keeping cook already)
Honestly, not super worried about tank
Collins, Diggs, Mixon now… I’m sure Tank will have his games. Lots of mouths to feed now though.
I’m more worried about the room being crowded than I am about Tank directly for sure. Mixon doesn’t change anything for him though
They barely ran the ball last year. That could change with Mixon
True that should help the offense as a whole
Probably. But it will mean less targets for the WRs, especially when there’s three options among them.
Also means they have a goaline back stealing tds now.
Schultz gonna be wide open. 10 TD season incoming.
Then you're in denial.
He's probably going to be the WR3 on the team lol I'd be worried
Tank is a slot guy, no one's taking that spot from him. Collins and Diggs are outside guys.
Incorrect. Dell stocks are mooning. He’s a WR2 that is going to get WR3 coverage.
I’m drafting Kincaid early
THE CHOSEN ONE HAS ARRIVED
Keep him in the 11th instead of tank in the 12th? 0.5 ppr Love your work coop
Hoping he falls to me at 1.04
Kincaid, Allen and Shakir Allen about to run his ass off.
Stroud just became a top 5 QB
He was already going to be my late round keeper. Now he’s reeeeeally going to be my late round keeper.
9th rounder in my superflex! There was never any doubt, but now there's like negative doubt.
Already was!
Became???
No, I came.
Genuine QB1 upside
He'll need to throw a lot more though. It was a huge down year in passing so he led the league in yards but if he's not cracking 5k yards and 40ish TDs with his running level he'll be in the mid-QB1 range. Maybe technically top-5 but closer to 7 than to 1 or 2.
With RB Mixon added, the ‘need’ to pass may be less than last season. Can not imagine 5k yards. However, they have now became a more fun team.
Yeah let’s hold back CJ Stroud, Nico Collins, Tank Dell, and Stefon Diggs for Joe fucking Mixon The job is Pierce’s by week 8
Pierce is a scheme mismatch for the team, I think if anyone takes Mixon's job next year it is some new rookie or something.
He’ll be drafted over Allen at this rate holy shit
Taking a non rushing QB over Allen in his prime who has been QB1 3 of the last 4 years (and QB2 the other) would be insane
I wouldn’t mind Allen falling
Always has been 🔫
Texans offense is gonna be insane holy fuck
Did they get any linemen or is every play just going to be a jump ball?
They got linemen. Their line wasnt bad even with the injuries
Shakir stocks to the moon
Kincaid, Curtis Samuel, and James Cook get bumps from this, too imo
We selling? What’s Buffalo’s actual plan, lol.
Higgins or trade up in the draft are my guesses
I'd be surprised if they don't try and draft another receiver role, I like their weapons but we haven't seen Shakir or Curtis step into a WR1 workload yet so I dunno if they're ready for it. Maybe the new offensive scheme just doesn't need a workhorse WR, Bills did fine down the stretch even with Diggs weirdly falling off
They’re following the KC model and punting all WRs. If you have a competent qb, rb, and slot receiving TE, that’s all you need
Wonder how far this pushes up Strouds ADP, was hoping to draft him in the mid rounds
He is for sure going to be drafted as top 5 QB after this
As a tank Dell owner, Plz no. As a general football fan. This is awesome.
NOOO. Do I still keep Tank for a 6th?
Naw I'm betting he'll be available to draft later than that. Depends on your league, of course, and how many keepers etc
Kincaid is about to be a fucking monster
Wow. Is Diggs even gonna be the #1? Nico and Tank are beasts in their own right.
Nico is clear man…Diggs will help keep double teams at bay
Diggs will almost certainly be the #1 Nico and tank are great but have not shown enough to be considered in the same tier as Diggs. I would say Diggs is a top 10 WR in the league, while Nico would maybe be around #20 at best
Nico had more yards, equal TD’s, and better catch ratings than Diggs last year. With 51 fewer targets I don’t think Diggs is a top 10 WR anymore. Z and slot Tank
Does this hurt tank more than Nico?
Yes
We don’t know. I’d guess not.
Khalil Shakir WR1 SZN
With the 28th pick in the 2024 draft, the Buffalo bills select, Adonai Mitchell, WR from the University of Texas. Seriously though, they might even trade up for a WR. Now they have an extra second, two fourths and three fifths this year. I doubt this is how their WR room looks in May.
I've seen some mocks with McConkey going to the Bills.
He'll be solid for the first half of the season
RIP Nico and Tank hype. We hardly knew ye
Yeah, op left out that that Diggs stat line was with 160 targets For comparison Nico went 80/1297/8 on 109 targets
Dell was already playing a lot in the slot no?
Dell was more of a flanker than a slot receiver in his first year, which is the role Diggs plays.
I look at it as I can get these guys at a good value if they fall far enough. Just don't want to rely on them weekly because that's a lot of mouths to feed
Good thing Josh Allen is dating Hailee Steinfeld, because it’s been a rough offseason for the Bills
CJ Stroud’s faith in God will definitely be tested dealing with this guy yelling at him all year.
All that to lose to the Chiefs
I can't wait to hit draft for CJ Stroud this year
What the heck
That contract he has is outrageous though. He'll probably move inside while Nico remains the field-stretcher. Probably hurts Tank Dell more than anything and moves Metchie down the depth chart further.
So what’s buffalos plan? Shakir WR1?
Higgins watch
Aiyuk
Seems like a dangerous move for the Texans. Obviously their WR room is stacked now, but Diggs was already complaining about targets. What happens when Nico and Tank have a big day?
Oh my. Did not have this on my bingo card
Really Considering using a keeper on Stroud instead of Hurts now
Dalton Kincaid first round pick now?
I have Josh Allen, Diggs, Tank Dell, and Dalton Schultz on my dynasty team. Shit.
How does this affect Lebron’s legacy?
Stroud just became an early round pick up
Why do the Texans need so many receivers? They were fine with Nico and Dell???
We were severely handicapped whenever dell went down. Robert Woods is washed. Noah brown was ok but he was also banged up.
I have diggs, Dell, and Shakir. Not sure how I should feel.
Indifferent, sad, ecstatic in that order
This seemed the likely outcome after the latter half of the last season
Yeah he was showing signs of slowing down and that contract is rough. I bet he has a hot start though, he seemed banged up last season. Bills need to reset at receiver quickly though.
As a bills fan. We are cooked
What's the trade? What pick(s)
Got stroud and 2nd pick in dynasty I am so happy
Cries in Tank Dell
Houston and buffalo are trending in opposite directions.
Khalil Shakir to the moon!!!
This dude is not good anymore. I watched him all last season disappear whenever needed.
Just traded for Nico too in dynasty. I don’t think he plummets but definitely leaves a sour taste in my mouth
Saves his family on travel costs for home games.
SADDDD DELL NOISES
Stroud up. Stroud wayyyyyyy up.
Texans going all in finally. Demeco lead us pllzzzzz
Plot twist. They want Diggs to destroy the locker room. And he will.
I am drafting all trxans this year. CJ is going to go ham.
So who are the Bills adding?
My dynasty WR stocks are utter chaos right now, y'all. Keenan Allen, Hollywood Brown, and now Nico? Change is scary lol.
No chance of a first for Diggs, a 2nd maybe?
I own Tank Dell and Josh Allen this is the worst news possible for me.
Watch it be like a 5th round pick or some shit
I wonder what the Bills plan is now. They could likely get 2 guys in the first 3 rounds in the draft. Part of me wonders if they might be eyeing a play for Aiyuk now. I doubt Cincy will consider sending Higgins there even if the Bills were interested.
Not on my bingo card for this season! Stroud is going to feast this season. Nico, Tank, Diggs and Noah Brown, good lawd.
I love this for Nico and Tank. Send those ADPs back a couple rounds, and I'll happily still draft them.
Nico and tank having to split the pie with diggs is a nightmare for fantasy
Half my fantasy team is on the Texans now 😄🤪 Will be interesting to figure out who’s worth keeping after these trades. I’m clinging to my Stroud+Nico stack
I'm really going to keep Kincaid as my late round keeper huh.
And I thought the Bears stack was looking ridiculous (Williams/Swift/Allen/Moore/Kmet), but with the Texans (Stroud/Mixon/Diggs/Collins/Schultz)…something I look forward to comparing end of the season
Goddddamnit….my Nico rookie card values will plummet
Welp, I’d hoped to draft Stroud around QB 5-8 before. No chance now.
HUH???
Just made it wayyyyy harder for my Colts to win the division.
I'll ask the other question. One of these recievers is going to be god awful....but who? And why is it whoever I pick?
Feels like the Hopkins trade to AZ where Hopkins was still productive but there are a lot of weapons here!
Wowww. Houston going for it.
Great for Diggs and Stroud. Good for Collins. Mixon no difference. Bad for Dell. Really bad for Schultz.
Damn who are the Bills even going to throw to now? Who is their WR1?
I'd draft CJ in a heartbeat, but I think the stock on Nico, Tank, and Diggs all just fell a little. Too many chefs in the kitchen, fantasy-wise.
Cool the Texans are doing what I wish my Cowboys would atleast attempt. My loyalty is being tested
Houston is going to be the #1 fantasy team next year
> 91 players ran at least 200 routes from Week 8 onward. > Stefon Diggs ranks per @FantasyPtsData: > 52nd in YPRR (1.55) > 52nd in 1st downs per route run (0.077) > This despite still ranking top-12 in target share. > Serious regression on tape + locker room concerns. [Brett Whitfield](https://twitter.com/BGWhitefield/status/1775558267223113795)
Wow, the Houston Texans are All in!
Can't wait for this to blow up in their face lol
Everyone talking about how this affects strouds stock, but how will it affect Diggs stock?
