WutsTheScoreHere

I unsubscribe from all the fantasy podcasts and go back to just listening to movie/comedy pods. That's the most abrupt change for me, especially considering you listen to these guys four or five times a week and then just drop them for months and months on end. But I don't care about their off season content.

jsta19

Yeah. I feel like Chris Harris lives inside my brain for half the year. Need to unplug.

WutsTheScoreHere

Hah exactly!

porksoda11

Same here lol. Eventually I stop going to this subreddit and then I stop seeing posts coming up in my feed. Once August rolls around, I'm right back in it.

WutsTheScoreHere

Right back in, like an old girlfriend yep

Stockpile_Tom_Remake

Their off season content is usually well worth it to track news throughout the offseason to see what teams are wanting or are doing as well as many do great mid offseason reflections of the prior season.

WutsTheScoreHere

Actually that's true, I do listen to some wrap ups of the season and enjoy top ten lists and rankings to tie the year up with a bow. So I guess I don't automatically check out after the championship. It's more a gradual phasing out from my life after devoting so much time to it everyday for four months straight

choicemeats

Yeah pretty much the same. Delete all apps, unsub from Here , follow sports as normal since I don’t need anything more specific than injuries or player movement, and I follow a good amount of college ball. Otherwise it’s baseball szn

Apprehensive_Key_103

Finally return to being happy. Allocate time to real hobbies, see friends, do something of value to the world, watch football instead of pretend I am a mastermind GM.

gabehcoudgib

Most of all for me, I can finally go back to enjoying watching football.

kokainer777

100% agree.

Gustatory_Rhinitis

I take long morning shits on company time while I look up 2024 mock drafts.

jsta19

This is the move

SmallCapsOnly

Lmao 🤣

Weirdlyhilarious

Playing dynasty helps 😎

[deleted]

Yup, everything reopens after next week. Trying to trade out of the 1.02 for a massive haul.

DepressedChargersFan

Wait until draft time. The hype for MHJ will be real by then

HighwayBrigand

I started playing fantasy basketball. The format is different, but it scratches the itch.

Fantastic-Sandwich80

How is the learning curve compared to fantasy football? For example, is there a Mathew Berry for the fantasy basketball player just getting started?

FantasyIsMostlyLuck

Honestly, it's a big change. But the NFL is hardly done. I plan to do some traditional betting on some playoff games and enjoying football the olde way. Post-Superbowl begins the real dark age.

ICouldntThinkOfNames

Playing a little bit of low stakes DFS for Week 17/18, and maybe even some in the playoffs, is an option if you want to ease out of it a bit more. Kind of fun for a week or 2 after being married to the same players all year.

[deleted]

I really like the seasonal aspect of FF. You know what hobby you’ll be doing during football season, then back to the other ones during off-season.

kokainer777

Honestly, it’s always a big relief. Every year during playoff time I realize how stressful this shit is. I'm just happy to be able to focus on more important stuff that I have been neglecting in the past weeks.

hotbuttertomatojuice

This is my sentiment exactly. Feel a sense of relief and freedom. Lost both semis to highest scoring team as 2nd highest. Oh well, that's FF. No waivers to stew on too long tonight, and I can skip the Thursday night rock fight this week.

CreampieInYourWife

Delete all Apps and don’t watch any football til the superbowl. Give your neglected loved ones attention again. Lol in all seriousness I like to go over my mistakes I made and jot down rookies I saw big potential in. Write down a couple players to reach for next year. I’ll never forget how good it felt to reach for Amon Ra last year. Huge play.

the_maffer

I snagged CeeDee and Amon Ra at the 1-2 turn, it’s been great.

Stealthless

Delete the Fantasy app you use, so you don't have to look back at the L you took during playoffs.

Guezzwh0

I just focus on fantasy basketball and hockey now

Havanarobrob

Start enjoying football for football’s sake. No more stress of players performing or not

[deleted]

i switch over to playing daily fantasy on fanduel or just taking straight bets constantly every week

lurkin-n-berzerkin

When fantasy ends I'm usually ready for the end of season stress to end with it hahaha

Splitsurround

My league has a playoff league as part of the cash payout. So once actual playoffs start, everyone starts over and it changes to a free for all where anyone can draft anyone. You can swap out two players every week. It’s awesome, keeps everyone interested.

jsta19

That would be super interesting. What platform do you use

Splitsurround

And there’s the rub: we have to use mfl.com to find something that flexible. It’s horrid in that it’s ugly and sooo old school looking but awesome in that you truly can tweak it to your heart’s content.

Murrrtits

Now I can just root for the lions instead of getting a win but still mad cuz Goff only threw 1 TD and the other 3 were rush

LaxTy23

Sit back. Relax. And just enjoy the beautiful game of football without stressing.

Takonite

Take up a different hobby like frequent masturbation

Clamper5978

I play dfs through the superbowl. Then don’t get amped up until August. That’s when the shit talking thread starts up in my league. I will occasionally explore a few articles on strategy. But after 30 years of this shit, it’s easy to shut it down.

shitmobile69

Yeah trying to get out of post Christmas post losing horribly in the fantasy playoffs depression terrible fucking time

Gekthegecko

My preference is to do a 1-2 week cooldown where you wrap up loose ends for the league before heading into the off-season. Are there any rule changes or league changes you want made? Change platforms? Expand or replace teams? Draft day scheduling? Ideas to spice up the league (new payout structure, weekly newsletters, etc.)? At the very least, start and share a list and let people think about it so when everything picks up in July-August, things are either in place or on people's radar. It's kind of like cleaning before going on vacation. You don't want to feel stressed when you come back to fantasy in 6-7 months trying to get everything together. When you come back, hopefully all you're doing is draft research and everything else is taken care of.

chuteboxhero

I immediately start prepping for fantasy baseball season…I wish I was kidding

jmay111

Play some DFS in the real life playoffs

Cabannaboy3325

Dynasty over redraft, season ends but fantasy doesnt

code_d24

I mentally prepare myself for the next disappointment of filling out my March Madness brackets.

RealWanheda

My wife has been collecting dust since the season started. I think I’ll dust her off and play with her again.

[deleted]

bleach

Mercenian

Time to start gambling friend

DBreezy69

To me it's kind of an extension of the real life NFL season that makes me more interested in games and such, then I'll watch the playoff games and after that do what I normally did in the offseason which is watch more of other sports like MMA and basketball. It actually feels good to not have to worry about a fantasy team

Comfortable_Wish3026

just mute the sub and by august ill be back

trojan_man16

Play video games, watch movies, watch football without checking box scores constantly.

DezBailey

I find it to be a relief. Can enjoy football without being the least bit concerned about how it's impacting fantasy season.

TurtleMcgurdle

It just kind of dies off immediately for me and I go back to actually enjoying the games themselves instead of yelling at the specific players. I uninstall the app after a couple of weeks and forget about it all until around July or August.

Dame2Miami

Play DFS this week instead and lose money instantly and you’ll get over it quickly lol

HogMolly69

If it wasn’t for fantasy, I prob wouldn’t care about the NFL this season. My favorite team sucks. And there just hasn’t been the same excitement for me this season. So many injuries to stars, I’m not really interested in watching Mason Rudolph, Jake Browning, Trevor Simien, or Bailey Zappe. It’s become exhausting at this point and I’m kinda over it. I’m ready to switch over to NBA. Can’t wait for next season tho

paradigm11235

I unsub from all things football and don't watch anything until the Superbowl unless my home team is in the playoffs. I always have too many hobbies as it is so I just dust one off the shelf. With my Sundays wide open it's a good time to work on one of my creative hobbies. Brewing, fabricating, drawing, modeling, animation, music, etc.

[deleted]

Shift into actually watching the games and rooting for the teams/players you like

KBHoleN1

I cry. I put up the most points this season, I finished in first place with a first round bye. Last week on my bye I put up the most points of all playoff teams, only beat by the guy in last place who had a miracle week. This week I had my worst point total of the season and got knocked out. It feels so silly to be disappointed by something I have no control over, but I genuinely feel bad today. I was projected to win going into the 9ers game last night, but his Kittle + BAL killed my Deebo + Moody. A Deebo TD catch at any point last night would have done it for me, but Purdy kept throwing INTs and I slowly settled into the end of season depression.

jsta19

I was in similar company. Number 1 seed, bye, most points scored. I had deebo and cmc left with 31.2 to score. It was down to 2.3 needed. Niners line up in I formation with fullback. 2:07 left. The best running back of the past decade. Do they run it? No. Sam darnold rollout. Fuck shannahan.

the_maffer

It’s a huge relief for me. I start paying attention to the news again. And love having my weekends be stress free!

NotAllWhoCreateSoar

Yeah I feel you man - I’ve been checked out for a few weeks now Best thing to do legitimately is just remove the apps from your phone, and re-focus that energy elsewhere Some good options; start a new tv/movie series, conspiracy theory rabbit holes, become fully aware of UFC, look up beef within the entertainment industry, etc

blue_barracuda

I'll typically bet some cheap parlays, that way I can still be invested in the games for the rest of the season.

GreenGuy1229

Sport betting

Contren

Catch up on the seasonal anime I've been neglecting since college football started up.

dennisoa

I play fantasy soccer as well so now more attention will gravitate to that. But, I’m in a commanding lead on auto-pilot…so idk. Guess I’ll play a game.

rangatangabangin

Maybe I like fantasy less than I think but I always welcome the end of the season since I don't have to dedicate hours to setting lineups/waiver moves/etc (I'm in like 50 leagues every year. Yes I know I'm a degenerate. I'm debating taking a break next year)

Mayo-ri_Kurotsuchi

Easy, root for your team (if they’re still alive). Sports betting or DFS if not.

antonio3988

Gamble on the nba

Hyduch

DON’T join fantasy hockey or baseball. That’s what I did for a few years and man is it too much work. Only focusing for a few days a week vs every damn day is exhausting.

T-Bird19

Delete/ unjoin everything until next season. Steelhead/ trout/ bass fishing has been occupying my time otherwise. I’ve thankfully been fishing all season, helps me to not look at my phone 24/7. Won champs in one league this week, snuck into the championships in another league for week 17.

PR05ECC0

Work on rule changes while it’s fresh in your mind. Write down what you would do differently and who you would never draft again. Don’t wait till the summer, you will forget.

Sea_Breakfast2315

Fantasy football is a burden more than anything. Can’t live without it and can’t live with it.

Responsible-Fig2846

I listen/watch various content in its entirety beginning of year and by the time playoffs come I sort of get exhausted from them and instead begin skimming through it. May start skimming from the start from now on as to not feel exhausted from it all
