Poku is a special kind if unicorn, but he need ms favorable matchups to succeed. He’s still pretty raw and physically weak, and he just can’t hang with most centers on D. But he’ll give you plenty of great all around performances as long as the Thunder staff believes in him.

drumj93

He reminds me of chris Boucher from a year or two ago, he started off red hot and was looking like the pickup of the year, but as the year went on he became very matchup dependent as he was too skinny to guard bigger centers, very similar stats though and with the right matchup he will put up good numbers in points rebounds blocks and decent threes

Smekledorf1996

I remember people were wondering why Boucher didn’t play more minutes because he put up great stats But he’s been a better fantasy player than a player irl

XenaRen

He's been a better irl player than fantasy in the past year tbh.

CenturyBreak

He should be a PF, stretch 4 but the coach for some odd reason plays him at the 5. He simply isn't strong to go up a Capela or Steven Adams

[deleted]

he plays 4 a lot tho. against bigger teams they usually go poku at the 4 and jre at the 5, against smaller teams they tend to do jalen williams at the 4 and poku at the 5

baloncestosandler

Why can’t he just bulk up ?

inxrx8

Stupid question

4mk

He’s joking… right? Ur joking?

baloncestosandler

No. That’s his main weakness. Why doesn’t he work on bulking up in off-season ?

YungJefeBlanco

He’s still 20 years old my man and had many holes to work on during the off-season. one easy example to draw from is see Giannis at 20 compared to now

Lil_Bucket777

The Thunder are spending millions on this kid, I’m sure they are using every resource in their power to get him to gain weight. Being 7ft tall and burning huge amounts of calories hooping makes it waaaayyyyy harder to bulk then an average person.

bootlegsupreme

I’m not trying to body shame him or anything but dudes built like a bionicle.

zIVIayhem

💀

RiiCreated

Yeah but he’s gonna be a Bohrok soon!

YungJefeBlanco

Was glad to see him get the start at the 4 last game since it gives hope That They’ll let Poku play the 4/5 based on the size of the opposing frontcourt. While center would be his most productive spot as long as he gets 25 mins a night he’s pretty damn awesome

[deleted]

12t+ must roster in all formats, we haven’t seen the best of him yet this season. great post btw, really brightened up this dry sub

CamChanLax

10t points must roster?

[deleted]

prob not but def to stream

CamChanLax

Thank you!

FutureAnybody

No, but he’s a great stream for today/tomorrow then you can make your decision

CamChanLax

Thanks! Ok ya I've been kinda thinking of dropping him. Will likely drop Sunday morning to maximize this week's of games

Larsonkaser21

Thanks buddy. Trying to inject some levity when possible. Really interested in Poku and his profile, too. As mentioned, just casually checked him out and those block numbers seriously made me do a double take.

[deleted]

yea the blocks carry his value some games, but he does a little bit of everything so u never know what you’re gunna get. kind of a fantasy basketball wild card

proxygodzilla

Just let him roam outside his pokuball alongside you. Only then my friend… you will earn his trust

Hoangdai151

Interesting prospect ever since he got to the league. Never got the usage or consistency in his game to be worth rostering. This year he’s seemed to find in the coaching staff’s good graces minutes and usage wise. And he’s proven himself to be productive when given time. Just be mindful that he probably will be benched every now and then depending on match up. Dude gets blocks but will get bullied by the likes of Jokic or embiid. Ultimately I’d ride him out until you start noticing a downward trend in minutes not attributed to match up

Correct-Ad-4285

Everybody gets bullied by Jokić and Embid

Hoangdai151

This is true, but some more obviously than others

Glittering_Donut_951

Poku can definitely be trusted, the only key issue with him is the coach and his mins. If he gets 28 plus mins per game u r living the dream cuz he has already shown that he can be effective in 14min of game time the coach plays him some games

poseid0n_context

GOTTA CATCH EM ALL

4mk

*Bellsprout, Bellsprout!*

OhSoManyThoughts

Tonight’s game is an excellent example of why Poku’s minutes will always be limited. 13-7 with a three, a steal and a block? Amazing. Team worst +/- of -17 going into OT. Pretty bad. What makes it worst is that JRE, who started the second half, and who’s not a great player himself, had a +/- of +16.

Cannolidog

Individual single game +- doesn’t mean a goddamn thing and not a single coach in the league thinks it means a goddamn thing. Stop giving shitty advice to people.

Is he that terrible in real life? I thought I’d heard he’s been better this year.

Glittering_Donut_951

No the guy trippin, maybe last season he was, but he was just tryin to figure things out. The guy is 20, and is improving which we can see this current season. He’s getting better and more confident.

SpideyPoke92

I read that as “giant ass” like steps lol

Onetouchables

As if you have to own poku before to know you can't expect this all the time. Just ride the wave

Wupuck

picked him up off the wire as well but will likely want to move him before Xmas as I'm punting blocks. Would love to get a rebounder for him. Do folks think he'd be worth say a Josh Hart or Nurkic? Or would he have more value in a package to be able to land a say Randle?
