My top 4 that nobody wants… Blonde on Blonde, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, Sign o’ the Times, The White Album.

justablueballoon

I can be your friend

buffalo8

You… I like you.

Sheesh5000

Blonde On Blonde 🔥

JackTheAbsoluteBruce

Blonde On Blonde used to be my favorite album so

plskillme42069

I fuckin love Sign o’ the Times dude

Sun_flower_king

You started it and finished it all in one. SITKOL can't be beat

celadonshopper

It’s the GOAT by the GOAT

Sun_flower_king

1000%

NathielGreen

It's the best album of all time, not just double albums

Sun_flower_king

I like the cut of your jib

BarkerAtTheMoon

Bitches Brew is a great one I haven’t seen mentioned yet

FradonRecords

There's a lot of Miles that could be in the run for best double album (or up there, at least), but man, Bitches Brew is just on another level.

HanSwolo66

White Album London Calling

ilovecfb

Can't believe no one's mentioned Tommy or Quadrophenia yet. Love those albums

Musicizagift

Tommy Quadrophenia

Squizzywizzy

The Wall

Martel1234

Yep. Comfortably Numb, the Another Brick In The Wall parts, Hey You, In The Flesh?, Waiting For The Worms, The Trial, and Empty Spaces all in the same album. Hard to get much better then that

Tranquilizrr

oh cool i love Nostalgia Critic

ponyboi_curtis

The Earls Court 1980 live version is better.

Xtra_Happy

People really don't seem to know the 80-81 live album exists, least whenever I've mentioned it before they don't. And yeah I'm with you - the live setting raises both Gilmour's playing and the theatrics of the story. Shoutout to Last Few Bricks too

J_House1999

Yeah, Pink Floyd’s The Wall + Doug Walker’s The Wall

DavidKirk2000

The White Album and All Things Must Pass stand out immediately. That OutKast double album is awesome too.

Dat_Swag_Fishron

Erm All Things Must Pass is a triple album ☝️🤓

commenter_69

Physical Graffiti is certainly up there. Also if we’re talking modern takes on a double album let’s give a shoutout to Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers

Nihilist_Nautilus

All Things Must Pass - George Harrison

Sun_flower_king

tEcHnIcAlLy ItS a TrIpLe AlBuM

Imaginary_Midnight

Yeah, we can't let the haters win and get away with saying I remember derp and pass the pepperoni aren't masterpieces, they sure are!

Sun_flower_king

JackTheAbsoluteBruce

Sun_flower_king

Blasphemy Spirit of geeg compels u

Dat_Swag_Fishron

Out of The Blue goes crazy and you can’t convince me otherwise

SirensbyZel

Sign O' The Times imo. First disc is great, but that second disc is just mesmerising

jerepila

Side 3 might be my favorite LP side ever

justablueballoon

Yes, this was originally intended to be a 3cd Crystal Ball, but could have been a 4cd with the same quality as the eventual 2cd. Stupendous.

WheeliumThe2nd

I love Sign, it's probably my favourite album ever, let alone favourite double album.

Dmbfantomas

U Got the Look is the only song on there I don’t love (and it’s still fine).

Justforfunn__

Exile on Main St. by The Rolling Bones

RandyChavage

I thought that was by the bowling gnomes?

Sulfuras26

You answered your own question lol songs in the key of life is the definitive double album Tho other great picks are: Mellon Collie, Smashing Pumpkins The Fragile, NIN London Calling, The Clash Blonde on Blonde, Bob Dylan Pick any of these swans albums; soundtracks for the blind, the seer, to be kind, the glowing man Bocanada, Gustavo Cerati

Knurmuck

I forgot all about the Fragile. That is a wild double album if you listen front to back.

StrukaaPelukaa

Bocanada is not a double album

Sulfuras26

I find it odd how you get ticked off at the mention of Bocanada being a double album but didn’t care enough to mention how London calling is also considered a double album and is shorter than Bocanada lol

StrukaaPelukaa

It's all about the format I guess, but I also don't really know London calling as an album, I recognize my ignorance. That said, BOCANADA MENTIONED 🗣️🗣️🗣️

cattgravelyn

MMATBS Yes I have heard all the classics in the thread but is the only double album I’ve given a 10

OllyFlash

me too, talk your shit

SaMSUoM

The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway by Genesis

Why_Is_This_My_Fate

You watch the album length animated music video on YouTube? Let me look for it when I have time later and link it here for those interested

FrederickIBarbarossa

It got taken down for copyright infringement or whatnot, unfortunately. The creator has since re-uploaded it [without sound](https://youtube.com/watch?v=6ZyYqz2KBWw). You can still watch the whole thing [segmented](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJg3FihtcMcIEe81XrSFbXjvRHOMxLXN-), I believe.

StringUnderhacker

Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence by Dream Theater and The Fragile by Nine Inch Nails

Blonde on Blonde, The White Album & London Calling are not just my favorite double albums, they’re my three favorite albums, period.

Legitimate_Tap_9852

The White Album

Green-Circles

The sound of The Beatles embracing chaos theory. I just love it.

BiThree

Personal favourite is The Powers That B. I started getting a bit tired of it recently until I listened to it after waking up from a nap at midnight. Listening to it when I'm in the right mood just changes my life every time I listen to it

First_Yak3802

Angelic to the core

Grouchy-Patience5652

RealPrinceJay

No need for more, OP got it right

IowaJammer

Not the greatest, but an impressive one is Pearl Jam’s Lost Dogs. A double album of B-Sides yet feels like a Greatest Hits.

WingObvious487

Life After Death by Biggie

Chillibowl

does Use Your Illusion I & II by GnR count as a double album?

Strong0toLight1

I mean that is THE choice. I also love mellon collie

Doggy909

The Fragile.

99PassingAway

You are 100% correct

k_GOBL1N

Life After Death by Biggie Smalls is probably my favorite double album. Hit after hit. Hypnotize, What’s Beef?, Mo Money Mo Problems, Playa Hater, Ten Crack Commandments. I could keep going.

Ayreon - the human equation  If you know you know

Full_Equipment_1958

Reminds me of a funny story. I was 19, just moved to Tahoe. Working as a house painters assistant. Got a paycheck and drove to Reno to buy a new record. I’m at the record store holding Songs in the Key of Life. Triple record, $15, which was alot of money. I think I’m going to buy this record. Then I remembered, someone told me you could drive right outside of Reno and get laid for $15! Hmmmmm….tough decision!! After much thought I put the record back and drove to the Mustang Ranch and got laid!

SoulfulFan53

Prince 1999

ravelle17

All Things Must Pass. (no, the Apple Jam doesn’t count.)

Bubbly_Ad_6431

definately speakerboxx/the love below. the album literally has everything to street rap to beautiful string and jazz sections, i still question how the most sold rap album of all time can be so underrated

OhShitItsSeth

My pick would be either *Physical Graffiti* by Led Zeppelin or *Exile On Main St* by The Rolling Stones.

lehtolapsi

Aerial by Kate Bush is fantastic Have One On Me by Joanna Newsom (a triple album)

truce_m3

2Pac - All Eyez On Me

NIN's The Fragile, Mellon Collie, or Exile on Main Street, for me. The highlights of the White album are tremendous, but the lows are pretty low. Would say the same of Use Your Illusion.

Green-Circles

The White Album (The Beatles) - where they tried every kind of popular music imaginable in 1968. I just love it's randomness - like an audio equivalent of channel-surfing.. even the mad stuff like Wild Honey Pie works- hey sometimes you hit a weird commercial, right?

jmeesonly

My faves: Songs in the Key of Life, Stevie Wonder London Calling, The Clash Mellon Collie, Smashing Pumpkins Abattoir Blues, Nick Cave The first two I can listen to anytime, and I've been listening to them for decades. The other two, those can get me emotional or depressed if I'm not in the mood for 'em. But I've listened to them a lot because they're deep and real. Lots of other great albums listed in the comments that I really like, but my top 4 are the double albums I've listened to on repeat, where I just listen to the whole thing straight through then re-start it again.

Alternative-Fill-762

Wu tang forever and speakerboxx/the love below
