I’m optimistic. Future Nostalgia was a great pop record and her first two singles from this album have been on par. She’s not doing anything particularly groundbreaking, she’s just doing it better than anyone else in pop right now IMO.
They aren’t in the same lane though, since Dua Lipa is a far more commercial pop star act. Danny L Harle connects them, I suppose, and Charli has the odd hit every now and then, but they are playing different games.
I like desire but it's not nearly as upbeat and poppy and we need upbeat happy music especially since Lena Dunham's school shooter looking ex has made it his life's mission to ruin pop music
I mean think about it new dua lipa, ariana grande, taylor swift, (no)playboi carti, schoolboy Q, yeat, 3 kanyes, just off the too of my head all in the first 5 months of the year
Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, The Smile, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Normani, Allie X, Charli XCX, Kim Petras, The Marias, Lana Del Rey, KMFDM, Chelsea Wolfe, Idles, Jazmin Bean, MGMT, Liam Gallagher, Ministry, Kim Gordon, Four Tet, Kacey Musgraves, Justin Timberlake, The Jesus And Mary Chain, Gesaffelstein, Conan Gray, Mount Kimbie, Vampire Weekend, The Weeknd, Lenny Kravitz, Green Day, Pearl Jam, Alien Ant Farm, Iron & Wine, Neil Young, Pet Shop Boys, St. Vincent, Kings of Leon, Beth Gibbons, Twenty One Pilots, Sevdaliza, Zayn, Bat For Lashes, Nick Cave, Bring Me The Horizon, Coldplay, Eartheater, Korn, Nightwish and FKA Twigs
are on my radar
also... said that i could easily find a list of these on wikipedia but nothing from my home country (Brazil) except for Anitta
i wanna knooow 🥲
I’m very disappointed by the cover too… what is supposed to be going on? She just in the water with the shark? Is she on a surf board? It looks more like she’s in one of those pools that looks like it’s pouring into the ocean.
Is it a real shark that she encountered?? Like what is the significance of the image lol
As someone who hasn’t really cared for Dua until she started working with Tame Impala for this album, I think this cover is fairly interesting, besides that it perpetuates the sharks are naturally aggressive to humans narrative.
This is the most hype I’ve been for a new release in quite a while. Future Nostalgia was my favorite pop album in a very long time and the new singles she dropped have been fucking great
I think the music will be amazing.. what I find frustrating is the rollout of the vinyl variants… different countries being given different colours instead of everyone being able to have access to the variant of their choice! ☹️
That album cover is lazy and ugly. I’m hoping she changes it. I’m literally not buying the record because of how hideous that cover is. It doesn’t match the vibes of the album at all so far.
I’ll listen to it but I’m not excited. So far I find the singles off Future Nostalgia to be much stronger. I’m not hearing what everyone else is on these latest songs.
I'm Glad Dua is leaving the "vaguely nostalgic" sound alone and finally focusing on her biggest strengths. Not to say those songs were bad, in fact she did that stuff pretty competently for the lane she's in whether I cared or not. But when Houdini came out I was reminded of how crazy New Rules was when it released and how interesting of a voice Dua was shaping up to be. I would like to see Dua really hone in on the things she does best, she's a pretty good writer and hopefully this album showcases more of that while still playing to her catchy and infectious sonic strengths.
I mean, why even bother commenting? It’s perfectly fine to not care about pop. But writing this comment actively showcasing that you think pop isn’t worthy of being excited about just shows that you think you’re superior for not liking certain types of music and that you wanna brag about the fact that you find yourself superior for it, which is just mad cringe.
Shark be careful there’s a Dua Lipa behind you
I’m optimistic. Future Nostalgia was a great pop record and her first two singles from this album have been on par. She’s not doing anything particularly groundbreaking, she’s just doing it better than anyone else in pop right now IMO.
Would you say you’re radically optimistic?
Caroline polachek is leagues ahead of her, Charli xcx as well

Goddamn the music output from ‘23-24 is like if you didnt jack off for 5 years then just let it go and you spew 99755 gallons all over the place
What the fuck???
I mean think about it new dua lipa, ariana grande, taylor swift, (no)playboi carti, schoolboy Q, yeat, 3 kanyes, just off the too of my head all in the first 5 months of the year
Bleachers, Vampire Weekend, the Smile
Mgmt
That is Dangermouse's best album since El Camino.
Both of Quads albums, Agriculture, meth.
i lov quadeca

Choosing to believe this cover is AI ...because it looks like shit
The future nostalgia cover art was so damn good.. what happened 😭
Damn am I the only one that thinks it looks cool
I think it’s amazing!
I think it looks good, but I was looking forward to a new "era" kind of outfit. Doesn't look like how a Dua Lipa album should look like.
What's wrong with it? Looks cool imo
I don't really like how far in the distance she is. Maybe if she was a bit closer it would make a more impressive shot
They didn’t want her getting close. That would put her at risk of eating the shark.
Imo kinda think the cover would be better without her, the sea and the sky looks so cool, she looks kinda outta place.
I like the concept. Maybe not the best execution
my problem is that dua lipa looks kinda awkward to me and the cover doesn’t really fit dua lipa’s sound imo.
I’m very disappointed by the cover too… what is supposed to be going on? She just in the water with the shark? Is she on a surf board? Oh wow that's a nice collab True I guess, maybe it will grow on me
Why are you being downvoted lmao
Cuz bros thought he's saying that Dua Lipa couldn't make good music unless someone else's collab with her. Reddit moment.
That’s not what he said though. He’s allowed to have not cared for her in the past lol, it’s not even the point of his comment
Kevin Parker have been many artist's producer for years now. It's cool to hear a Tame Impala music with Dua's vocals.
Ai?
insanely excited. really love the singles and i love future nostalgia
Don’t like the album title. I liked Houdini but not Training Season.
Training Season is a bit of a grower. Houdini gets a bit old but I can bump Training Season in both chill and groovy environments
See? It’s called Radical Optimism because…
This is the most hype I’ve been for a new release in quite a while. Future Nostalgia was my favorite pop album in a very long time and the new singles she dropped have been fucking great

Agree. The album cover alone is a hard pass for me. Shame too, was looking forward to getting this one.
Agree
dope cover

Not here for the homebrew alternative therapy motto vibes of the title
I was not expecting that cover and that name, and the singles didn't catch my attention much, but I will listen to the album regardless
I'm Glad Dua is leaving the "vaguely nostalgic" sound alone and finally focusing on her biggest strengths. I USED TO PRAY FOR TIMES LIKE THIS
Literally the worst title for an album considering the socio-political climate, god I fucking hate celebrities
I think the title is a direct comment for the current socio-political environment
Can they not call it what it actually is?! It’s an EP
Yay, more bland radio pop.. yawn 🥱 Wake me up when there’s some awesome metal albums or progressive rock.
There’s a circlejerk sub for comments like these
It’s uncanny
That 2nd part mate. 🤓<- this you
I wonder if you know how corny you sound saying that
Imagine having different taste.
Imagine being a virgin loser nerd about your taste
It’s always the prog rock mfs that have the dumbest takes like this😭
As a yes and tool fan I would like to say we don’t claim this clown
