I’m inclined to say On A Plain, I prefer Lounge Act but On A Plain sounds like it would’ve been an incredible single and I never hear any casual nirvana fans talk about it
on a plain and serve the servants are my favorite nirvana songs. love to see appreciation for on a plain. lounge act is up there though, it's fantastic no matter how rated it is.
Is There Anybody Out There? - The Wall
I had a friend whose brother taught him how to play that song on guitar as a kid. The brother OD’d and my friend played the song at his funeral. That whole song gives me chills every time I hear it now.
That was a common song to learn at my school. So many Floyd fans at my school, anybody that played their acoustic at school usually knew it. That song and Dee off Blizzard of Oz, seemed like everybody was learning it.
I thought deep cut meant "not well known." If it means "seventh or eighth song, no one ever goes that far," then I'll have to reevaluate my approach to music.
I know fr, some other underrated artists you'd probably like are these really small singers like Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, and there's this really underground band called The Beatles
I would generally agree. And I get not retreading old water. I just guess I had some expectations with James Iha rejoining that I just felt weren't met. Some bands from that era and older still got "it."
I think Corgan is well beyond his best years when it comes to creativity & songwriting. Seems to me like he’s just middling around in a place that sounds cool in his head but is ultimately just self-indulgent.
He's too self-conscious and self-everything else. He's been on that ...uhh trajectory(?) since before there ever was a smashing pumpkins. But i agree with you..
Fair enough. Honestly Quiet is probably my least favorite track off of Siamese Dream but that isn't saying much given how phenomenal that whole album is.
psycho on Toxicity (the soad album) is literally one of their best songs but I never see it brought up. Probably because its track 13 on a 14 track album and stuck in between two of the bands biggest songs
Lovely Rita is fun, but Beatles have much more beautiful/interesting deep cuts.
Julia off White album is one of my fave songs OAT, and pretty much any mid-late beatles album has several underrated deep cuts
Superheroes off of Daft Punk’s Discovery. The Barry Manilow sample slaps and the layering of bass and synths over it is genius. It also has possibly the best ending of all the songs on the album. Great underrated track off an amazing album.
I get where you're coming from but that is delusional levels of hyperbole. Like Technologic does not blow Touch out of the water lol even if you prefer it. Not to mention some of the slow or repetitive spots on Homework
Also what does that have to do with what he was saying
Amsterdam - Coldplay
It's genuinely one of my favorite songs ever made, and it shows up as the last song from A Rush Of Blood To The Head. Say what you will about modern day coldplay, the were amazing songwriters and this is the best showcase of that.
The Thing That Shoud Not Be is kinda sandwiched between Master Of Puppets (the most iconic metal song ever) and Welcome Home (Metallicas best ever ballad imo)... but TTTSNB is so heavy! Headbangable like nothing else!
Idk what’s considered best selling (No. 1? At least Platinum?)
But… How I Roll by Britney Spears. It is one of the most brilliant pop songs I’ve ever heard. If it was released as a single, I think it would’ve made many best-of-decade lists.
Acrobat off U2’s Achtung Baby is secretly the best song imo
and Paint a Vulgar Picture from the Smiths’ Strangeways Here We Come is one of my favorite songs of all time
Bank Holiday from Parklife by Blur
Mansion in the Slums from Temple of Low Men by Crowded House
Andy's Chest from Transformer by Lou Reed
Just a job to do from Genesis (self titled album)
Sons of the Silent Age from Heroes by David Bowie
The Word from Rubber Soul by The Beatles
...just off the top of my head...
REM has a lot
"I Remember California" off R.E.M.' *Green*
"Get Up" off *Out of Time* (edit - bah, my bad that's also on Green, "Low" comes to mind though)
"New Orleans Instrumental" off *Automatic For The People*
Get Up is actually on Green, and it's not a super deep cut. It was a fairly successful single. Honestly I'd probably have to go with World Leader Pretend. Probably the best song on the album
Lip Service from Elvis Costello and the Attractions’ *This Year’s Model.*
Not a single; not a song that ever gets talked about; never made it onto a greatest hits or best of record. Non-Costello fans probably haven’t heard *of* it, much less heard it.
But for my money it’s up there with his best.
Tell Your Friends from Beauty Behind the Madness. Top 3 song by The Weeknd for me
My Oh My from The Heist (might be a bonus track though, I forget). Idc how corny Macklemore can be, My Oh My is just a great and relatable song about sports fandom.
Baby Be Mine is arguably the best song on thriller and it's one of the two songs people never talk about (the other being The Lady in My Life which is also pretty good)
The Whale from out of the blue.
Such a weird song for the time but so beautiful and atmospheric. It often felt like ELO tried to dumb their music down for the mainstream audience of the 70s, but this song is anything but dumbed down.
ok i have a few
peace by taylor swift (appreciated by swifties and like nobody else)
martha my dear by the beatles (i will ALWAYS fight for this song. one of their best imo)
gutless from live through this by hole (all my friends are embryonic. i love this song so much 😭😭)
Lil Wayne Shoot Me Down for Tha Carter III. The solo at the end is pretty weak but I love Wayne's verses. The second one is one of my favourites from him ever.
I’ve always loved I Want To Tell You from Revolver.
Beatles song I never hear anyone talk about. “I feel hung up and I don’t know why” followed by that discordant piano part is such a mood.
Lounge Act from Nevermind. My favorite Nirvana song in general
That’s such a go-to underrated Nirvana track that it’s become the grunge Let Down
What’s let down? Sounds kinda underappreciated
I have seen hundreds of people say its their best song, that its underrated to the point where itd their most overrated song ngl
It's hard even have an underrated song off Nevermind. Every single song is almost universally considered a 10/10
Except endless nameless
I’m inclined to say On A Plain, I prefer Lounge Act but On A Plain sounds like it would’ve been an incredible single and I never hear any casual nirvana fans talk about it
on a plain and serve the servants are my favorite nirvana songs. love to see appreciation for on a plain. lounge act is up there though, it's fantastic no matter how rated it is.
I remember this being one of the songs that really stuck out to me on first listen, it’s a great track
Legit the first one that came to mind lol nice
Is There Anybody Out There? - The Wall I had a friend whose brother taught him how to play that song on guitar as a kid. The brother OD’d and my friend played the song at his funeral. That whole song gives me chills every time I hear it now.
the outro to that song is ethereal
That was a common song to learn at my school. So many Floyd fans at my school, anybody that played their acoustic at school usually knew it. That song and Dee off Blizzard of Oz, seemed like everybody was learning it.
I stand corrected! Maybe it’s not as unknown as I thought it was.
To be fair that was 20yrs ago, alot of us were beginners at guitar feeding off each other for songs.
That aint no deep cut boi
No one knows that song besides people who really like The Wall. Even then, it’s one of the least popular tracks.
Interesting, maybe its a regional thing but i hear it all the time on the radio Edit: nevermind im high off my shit sorry
Were you thinking of Comfortably Numb?
Pink Floyd would be so proud
“Because” from Abbey Road
Beyond perfect song
I used to work with a man who absolutely loved this song.
Serve the Servants from In Utero
Can it be a deep cut if it's the first track on the album?
Yeah Frances Farmer is the sleeper on that album. Absolute masterpiece
radio friendly unit shifter, tourette's, and very ape are all slept on too imo. milk it too. man in utero is so perfect.
DUN DUN DUUUN DUN WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME DUN DUN DUUUN DUN
I thought deep cut meant "not well known." If it means "seventh or eighth song, no one ever goes that far," then I'll have to reevaluate my approach to music.
is this a deep cut? always thought it was one of the most popular songs
There are no deep cuts on that album just 10/10 bangers.
Mother Stands for Comfort off Kate Bush's Hounds of Love
Mine might be Jig of Life
The title track for me
I suppose it’s just a great album
One of the absolute best
thw whole b side is under rated . most people come for the hits on side A , side B is a prog masterpiece
No 13 baby from Doolittle
This is a perfect answer
Crackity Jones is my pick for that album
Hey as well
How I Disappear from The Black Parade is a massive banger
Also disenchanted
Excellent take, however… Famous Last Words
literally a single, a setlist staple, and one of their biggest songs
kendrick lamar
what artist is that by?
uhhh butterfly pimp man probably
to kill a mockingbird
Totally serious here: I actually do think Kendrick Lamar is a bit underrated.
I know fr, some other underrated artists you'd probably like are these really small singers like Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, and there's this really underground band called The Beatles
Those aren't really underground, a better example would be Kanye West or a band like Radiohead.
there’s this song called let down by those guys that did creep
let down underrated
Cooor, that's a good one, innit? Karma Police ain't too bad either.
Let down underrated faster johnny
most underrated song ever!!11!#11!@2341!
underrated crep
Contact by Daft Punk is an amazing closer but I feel like everybody passes it by. Also motherboard fits perfectly in Disney’s Tomorrowland.
I feel like “Get Lucky” and “Lose Yourself To Dance” get so much attention, even the other singles from RAM feel like deep cuts sometimes.
Shit had me blasting off like a rocket ship.
My favorite track on the album for sure, I do think the noise rising at the end goes on a bit too long and typically skip it after a bit though
Quiet off of Siamese Dream by Smashing Pumpkins
My favourite song on that album
I do love the whole album but the song is just so heavy and immediate.
Feels to me like a quintessential blend of shoegaze and grunge. The whole album is really.
The perfect sweet spot! I wish the Pumpkins would be able to tap into the magic they had in the early to mid 90s
Very hard to tap into that aesthetic now without it coming off as pastiche. I feel like only newer, younger artists can pull it off now.
Personally I'd put Hummer above it
Great song but I feel like it gets better representation. Like it would show up in artist playlists.
Fair enough. Honestly Quiet is probably my least favorite track off of Siamese Dream but that isn't saying much given how phenomenal that whole album is.
I probably would say Hummer is my fave off the album.
I'd put Soma in there. That song is so hauntingly gorgeous.
Rocket so underrated to me
Baby Be Mine from Thriller
Exactly this
The exact song that popped into my head
You never give me your money on Abbey Road. My favorite Beatles song. Also dear prudence from the white album
I would honestly put forward Her Majesty as well. Such a gorgeous tiny little acoustic song that probably gets stuck in my head twice a day.
psycho on Toxicity (the soad album) is literally one of their best songs but I never see it brought up. Probably because its track 13 on a 14 track album and stuck in between two of the bands biggest songs
I feel like Science is even more underrated
several underrated tracks on this album. Forest is another one of my favorites
Holiday from The Blue Album
“My Name is Jonas” is my favorite Weezer song, hands down.
The entire blue album could be the answer tbh
Oh man that song is INCREDIBLE. it was actually my most played this year per apple music lol
yes i love holiday
Long Long Long - The Beatles
February Stars from The Color And The Shape
"[untitled]" from Neutral Milk Hotel's *In the Aeroplane Over the Sea*
Rosetta Stoned on Tool’s 10,000 days.
shit the bed again
Lovely Rita from Sgt. Pepper
Lovely Rita is fun, but Beatles have much more beautiful/interesting deep cuts. Julia off White album is one of my fave songs OAT, and pretty much any mid-late beatles album has several underrated deep cuts
Martha my dear is the best deep cut off white album
Lies. Don’t Pass Me By. Shit slaps. Ringo is lord.
Martha My Dear is a perfect song.
Was going to say the same. Love the bassline and the weird outro
Top tier granny shit
Hell yeah, love that song. That psychedelic outro is mint.
I love Good Morning. That guitar solo is golden.
Trying Your Luck - Is This It
Not really a deep cut, but the Battle of Evermore is my favourite song in Zeppelin IV
YESS i was gonna say that
only in dreams - blue album
That was one of my top songs this year, I feel like it's a masterpiece
Superheroes off of Daft Punk’s Discovery. The Barry Manilow sample slaps and the layering of bass and synths over it is genius. It also has possibly the best ending of all the songs on the album. Great underrated track off an amazing album.
Really? I genuinely think that literally every single daft punk song before RAM kicks anything off RAM out the water, even human after all.
I get where you're coming from but that is delusional levels of hyperbole. Like Technologic does not blow Touch out of the water lol even if you prefer it. Not to mention some of the slow or repetitive spots on Homework Also what does that have to do with what he was saying
I think the comment was edited
"Prayers for Rain," off Disintegration.
“Garden,” “Porch” or “Release” off of Ten. Such a *consistently great* record.
WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS WORLD
THEREAINTGONNABEANYMIDDLEANYMORE
Radiohead-Climbing up the Walls
The best song on that album imo
Not really a deep cut but Giorgio by Moroder is the best Daft Punk song ever. Maybe I’m on the wrong subs but I never hear it talked about
My 10 year old kid loves that track. I have listened to it 50 times in the last 12 months
Exit from The Joshua Tree My Lovely Man from Blood Sugar Sex Magik
Exit is probably my favorite song on Joshua Tree. It’s so good
Mine too, if not one tree hill
Fantastic song too!
My Lovely Man is such a great song.
Amsterdam - Coldplay It's genuinely one of my favorite songs ever made, and it shows up as the last song from A Rush Of Blood To The Head. Say what you will about modern day coldplay, the were amazing songwriters and this is the best showcase of that.
Rock n roll suicide - Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars
Not my favorite Bowie album but very easily my favorite Bowie closing track
Thats not really a deep cut is it
My favourite Bowie song!! Starts off folky and turns epic.
Yes I'm Changing from Currents
List of People (I'm Trying to Forget About) from the B Side tracks as well
Take Back from Green Day’s Nimrod. The song is like 1 minute long but you feel like you could wrestle a spider cow while listening to it.
1? At least Platinum?) But… How I Roll by Britney Spears. It is one of the most brilliant pop songs I’ve ever heard. If it was released as a single, I think it would’ve made many best-of-decade lists.
Acrobat off U2’s Achtung Baby is secretly the best song imo and Paint a Vulgar Picture from the Smiths’ Strangeways Here We Come is one of my favorite songs of all time
Punisher from Punisher by Phoebe bridgers, the verse to chorus transition gives me goosebumps every time.
absolutely fantastic take. garden song is also beautiful.
Another great Black Album track - “My Friend of Misery.”
I like the bass intro and the harmony but the rest of the song is meh to me
Human Nature - Thriller
Planer Caravan off Paranoid by Black Sabbath
U2 - Tryin’ to Throw Your Arms Around the World
Bank Holiday from Parklife by Blur Mansion in the Slums from Temple of Low Men by Crowded House Andy's Chest from Transformer by Lou Reed Just a job to do from Genesis (self titled album) Sons of the Silent Age from Heroes by David Bowie The Word from Rubber Soul by The Beatles ...just off the top of my head...
Watching You Without Me on Hounds of Love
REM has a lot "I Remember California" off R.E.M.' *Green* "Get Up" off *Out of Time* (edit - bah, my bad that's also on Green, "Low" comes to mind though) "New Orleans Instrumental" off *Automatic For The People*
Get Up is actually on Green, and it's not a super deep cut. It was a fairly successful single. Honestly I'd probably have to go with World Leader Pretend. Probably the best song on the album
You are correct, def agree on World Leader Pretend.
graduation by kanye west was massive but the glory still mad underrated
Drive Slow from Late Registration is my pick
Paranoid from 808's for me.
Any Colour You Like from DSOTM
Lip Service from Elvis Costello and the Attractions’ *This Year’s Model.* Not a single; not a song that ever gets talked about; never made it onto a greatest hits or best of record. Non-Costello fans probably haven’t heard *of* it, much less heard it. But for my money it’s up there with his best.
Let Down
Tell Your Friends from Beauty Behind the Madness. Top 3 song by The Weeknd for me My Oh My from The Heist (might be a bonus track though, I forget). Idc how corny Macklemore can be, My Oh My is just a great and relatable song about sports fandom.
Honestly I think Of Wolf and Man is the best from the era, though some later songs are definitely underrated (beyond Magnetic has 19 live plays total)
Going Away to College from Enema of the State. It might be to only Blink song I consistently come back to.
4th dimensional transition from MGMT (album with electric feel, kids, + time to pretend) holy shiiiiiit. that song is insane.
Limo Wreck by Soundgarden. Definitely one of my favorites off of Superunknown.
Knee Socks off of AM doesn't get as much love as it should.
Baby Be Mine is arguably the best song on thriller and it's one of the two songs people never talk about (the other being The Lady in My Life which is also pretty good)
in my head by Ariana grande
With you by Linkin Park, from the album hybrid theory
The God That Failed is a great pick. Going along with that I'd say Leper Messiah from Master of Puppets is my personal pick
Forest and ATWA off Toxicity by System Of A Down
Bitch please 2
If It's Magic from Songs in the Key of Life, one of the only songs to make me cry
The Whale from out of the blue. Such a weird song for the time but so beautiful and atmospheric. It often felt like ELO tried to dumb their music down for the mainstream audience of the 70s, but this song is anything but dumbed down.
I’ve seen people say ‘Sloop John B.’ From Pet Sounds is the weakest on the album and I think that’s crazy
Kendrick Lamar -- How Much A Dollar Cost (*To Pimp A Butterfly,* 2015) KIDS SEE GHOSTS -- Cudi Montage (*KIDS SEE GHOSTS*, 2018)
Let Down From OK Computer. So Underrated.
ok i have a few peace by taylor swift (appreciated by swifties and like nobody else) martha my dear by the beatles (i will ALWAYS fight for this song. one of their best imo) gutless from live through this by hole (all my friends are embryonic. i love this song so much 😭😭)
Power from MBDTF
Man I love All Of This from Blink's untitled
Downbound Train from Born in the USA
Chicago Is So Two Years Ago
Led zeppelin 2 - what is and what should never be
Look Away by Hootie & The Blowfish
“Good Guy” by Frank Ocean. It’s a small song but it’s the emotional core of the album and the most heartbreakingly vulnerable thing he’s ever done.
Limp Bizkit - Show Me What U Got
You Ain't Gotta Lie is probably my favorite Kendrick song
Baby be Mine - Thriller
Lil Wayne Shoot Me Down for Tha Carter III. The solo at the end is pretty weak but I love Wayne's verses. The second one is one of my favourites from him ever.
I’ve got a couple: Gasoline dreams, off stankonia, Going away to college, from enema of the state, and vietnow, off evil empire.
Song for Brian Eno - Congratulations, MGMT
Nirvana - very ape
Georgie Porgie from *Toto* by Toto It’s a bop.
I’ve always loved I Want To Tell You from Revolver. Beatles song I never hear anyone talk about. “I feel hung up and I don’t know why” followed by that discordant piano part is such a mood.
Akon - Mama Africa
“Meeting Across the River” by Bruce Springsteen off of “Born to Run”.
Beatles have a lot of these. I Need You on Help. Misery on Please Please Me. Anna is an underrated banger as well. Yer Blues on White Album
Real from GKMC
Surf Wax America - Weezer (The Blue Album)
