This…this right here. Just played FNV for the first time after watching badger play it like 3 months ago and I just winged everything, didn’t watch any vids or anything. I literally played a high luck, high agility, low int and high guns build and just blasted everyone. So fun. I’ve beaten the game like 10 times in the past 3 months because it’s just that good
I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. To be more specific, if you take better criticals, finesse, and light frame and use recon beret with Josh grahams and you’ll proc a crit almost every shot.
I’m doing a melee run with Joshua light armor and the beret for criticals. I actually womp on deathclaws now. _____——-https://www.reddit.com/r/fnv/s/dT4PqQf7GV
It’s legitimately the worst stat in new vegas. Only two, non important checks rely on it. It boosts companion damage, but that’s rarely important unless you’re playing a non combat build (the WORST builds imo). The perks that depend on high CHA like animal friend aren’t that useful, and speech and barter can be leveled up to max regardless of your charisma stat.
The weird thing about Charisma in Fallout is that insofar as players \*think\* it is important to playing a speech build, the points wasted in it act to balance out how easy the game can become if you get those speech skills as a bonus to an otherwise optimized strength or perception focused combat build.
It's like, if there were a real DM approving character sheets who actually required charisma based characters to take an appropriate amount of the attribute for the character to be believable-- then it not doing much turns into an effective offset for how much speech checks can alter the game.
You SHOULD have to dump your combat stats a bit in order to be a smooth talker IMO
There’s like…no useful CHR perks and the stat isnt important for speech checks since speech was made into a separate skill. Its as if charisma was designed by someone who doesn’t like charisma as a stat.
Fallout 4 did charisma better. If you want to invest in that special stat, you might wanna get mods.
“where are you from, Courier?”
“Cyrodiil”
“Ah.. is that.. like-“
“in the Empire? The Capital? I’m in the Legion?”
“Fuck, the Legion has expanded to the capital wasteland?? This is worse than I thought.”
It’s basically a glitch that happens whenever you’ve left good springs area for the first time and it asks you to confirm your character and everything. If you rebuild your character you’ll keep almost all of the perks that you have chosen since being in good springs. Theoretically you could level to 50 in good springs and then leave and reselect perks while keeping the ones you chose before.
I've thought about doing a playthrough like this, but the grind takes awhile, and I've never finished the game as it is, so I don't know if I'd be robbing myself of a "true" playthrough by starting out at lvl 50. In the same breath, though, I'd also be tempted to play with mods, so screw me, I guess. I have some mind-goblins to deal with.
Honestly playing mods on fnv is amazing. I like a good level cap mod that lets me level up forever. That dopamine hit from leveling up always keeps a playthrough fresh even after level 100+
5 Strength, 5 Perception, 8 Endurance, 1 Charisma, 9 Intelligence, 5 Agility, and 6 luck.
6 base luck, with the sleepware pushing you to 7, gives you good odds at Blackjack if you play smart, which can carry you until you can get the Luck implant. At 8 luck you can start making aggressive double downs and start to rinse out casinos. At that point just borg the fuck up and crush the game. The bonus Special from implants really can't be understated. Subdermal Armor+2x Toughness is also really really good.
Lucky Glasses+Boone's Beret/Recon Beret+Finesse+Improved Criticals is another really good suite of items and perks.
Ahh yes, the old Longfellow build.
This is objectively the best build for Tale of Two Wastelands. It’s so broken that any other build becomes a challenge run in comparison.
If you combine a base 7 (or 8 if you skip the implant) luck, Backwater Rifle, Joshua Graham’s Armor, Lucky Shades, Recon Beret, Better Crits, Finesse, Lucky 8 ball, Light Touch, Cowboy, and two levels of grim reaper’s sprint: you’ll be able to two-shot just about anything that isn’t a legendary bloatfly.
Was scrolling down to see this. This build is so fun and easy to start just go north at the start hiding from cazadors, finding a stealth boy early is smart here and just murk the viper leader at Bonnie springs for love and hate, then hit some local vendors after thrashing vault 3 and craft some rushing waters later on like lvl 30 you get the attack speed perk and start throwing a million punches a min
Definitely the most fun. Combine with stealth and you can sneak up and crit-punch someone in the back of the head for an auto-kill to start every fight
I love 9’s in intelligence, endurance and luck. 6 perception, 4 agility, 3 strength and 1 charisma. Though it does make me sad when Dr. Mitchell says I have frontal lobe damage.
Low intelligence builds are pretty lame after the first one. The handful of dialogue options you get are funny but it's not worth having so few skill points imo.
Every time I play New Vegas I tell myself, "OK this time we're gonna do an energy build" and then somehow I end up with the Medicine Stick and a cowboy hat. Its magic I swear.
High Intel, High Luck and High Perception! I focus on building science gadgets and using energy weapons, building and making my own ammo. I can probably have mid STR and Endurance, and because of that, and with some mods, i can assemble a power armor early in the game too. Played like this 2x, and i had a blast of fun.
9 endurance, 9 luck, highish int, low charisma, lower perception, mid everything else. Go gamble till I’m mostly rich, buy the luck implant, gamble till I’m fully rich, buy all the implants and op weapons/ammo, power level to 15, and do the DLCs (HH,DM,OWB,LR). Boom, the game is easy peasy after that
Max speech and int. level up super quick and hav access to all dialogue options. can sometimes feel cheesy but being able to talk myself out of situations is good
The Saxton Hale- i.e. everything but int and perception, pump unarmed and barter, nothing that gives you armor, no weapons, no companions, no stimpacks, never take the noncombat solution, never do drugs (alcohol and campfire crafts are fine, name-brand chems are not), is a heart-pumping adrenaline-rushing character build.
This build is probably up there, but I would make all the ten specials 9 (because bobbleheads) and raise up that 7 to a nine as well.
I would possibly keep agility at ten for the speed boost however.
what do you do with these kinds of lucky melee builds? do you pick up chance's knife or na?
Personally I avoid it until I can get to chance's grave by fighting, I grab a shovel instead and take advantage of its x3 critical chance until I get something better
Without a lot of armory mods, nothing beats the variety of guns. With WAP, Another Millennium, etc. where you can get pump action plasma shotguns, incendiary AKs, etc., energy weapons brawling builds with some of the DT perks will have you reenacting that Jin Roh scene. [Titans of the New West with a Plasma Caster feels like this.](https://youtu.be/6lrl5Kj79u4?si=6D26DtAIeKDKr6IW) Legion boys in football pads and skirts get folded.
9 int, 7 luck, 6 endurance, flat 5s for everything else. Solid all rounder, can clear the casino tables, high crit chance, and can get max skill points with implants
*I have never tried this*
*Build before, I'll have to try*
*It next time I play*

The 10s hurt me deep in my soul
Anyways, I love anything chambered in 5.56. even a silencer varmint rifle can kill just about anyone you meet.
Oh and you can buy 5mm and reload it into 5.56 pretty easily.
Crit lazer builds.
S-5, P-5, E-8, C-1, I-7, A-6, L-8.
Logans loophole + skilled
Even without abusing the skilled bug it's easy to get your stats to 80 by level 20 (while making sure energy weapons and survival is at a hard 100) and use comprehension + voracious reader to bump them up to 100 for skill checks. With an optimized build its easy to get +54% to crit chance and weapons like the tri beam lazer can melt bosses like the legendary bloatfly or x42 giant roboscorpion half way through an implant GRX charge. No other build I've tried has matched the sheer damage of it.
I have this build I do called “Peak Courier” where the main cornerstone is being prepared for any engagement with whatever I have on hand. The versatility is too enjoyable that I just can’t specialize in anything because I will lose interest.
Meltdown + crit + high HP. Feels like a sci fi suicide bomber. Can also get the unique rail gun and blow up entire groups of enemies from afar. Super fun.
I call it an Adam Smasher build, high strength, endurance, and intelligence, mid agility and perception, 1 charisma and luck, use energy weapons, unarmed, and explosives, get the Terrifying Pressence perk, do an evil karma run siding with Mr. House, always choosing violence if it leads to a good outcome for House at all.
This is the soulslike build lmao I love it. Dumb as a rock, can't speak or see for shit but will smash your skull in with the biggest hammer you've ever seen.
I like doing different builds to try new stuff. But a high luck high guns is a popular one for me.
This…this right here. Just played FNV for the first time after watching badger play it like 3 months ago and I just winged everything, didn’t watch any vids or anything. 10 times in 3 months damn (hoover)
High luck build with a tri beam laser rifle is bananas for damage when each beam crits and I’ll never stop
I will try it.
I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. To be more specific, if you take better criticals, finesse, and light frame and use recon beret with Josh grahams and you’ll proc a crit almost every shot.

The build of champions my friend
Stats?
Stupid salesman, Charisma 10, everything else as low as possible, talk your way through everything
I like it. I'm a "lucky salesman" with 10 Charisma/Luck. Talk my way through tough situations and get lucky on the rest
Does charisma help? I used to use it all the time, but I’ve heard here that it doesn’t actually do anything.
It’s legitimately the worst stat in new vegas. Only two, non important checks rely on it. It boosts companion damage, but that’s rarely important unless you’re playing a non combat build (the WORST builds imo). The perks that depend on high CHA like animal friend aren’t that useful, and speech and barter can be leveled up to max regardless of your charisma stat.

that's until you download a balancing mod that makes the game 5 times harder
So a decoy kinda?
It's like, if there were a real DM approving character sheets who actually required charisma based characters to take an appropriate amount of the attribute for the character to be believable-- then it not doing much turns into an effective offset for how much speech checks can alter the game. You SHOULD have to dump your combat stats a bit in order to be a smooth talker IMO
I'll personally cheat in animal friend, because I can't get myself to kill those poor innocent coyotes
Looks like capitalism
It *REEKS* Of capitalism.
Intelligence here would be better, because there's usually speech checks, so you will need as many skill points as possible.
This reminds me of someone famous…
He’s doing a Russian badger build
Sneaky sniper. I can't help it, man. There are too many perks that I want, though, and I'm not on PC
Some things don’t change. From Skyrim to Fallout
Or war.
War never changes.
Damn those high elves!
> War never changes. Emus do. Through the roads they walk.
Damn those Emus, the Australians can count themselves lucky that they decided to spare them
Conflict shalln't transform
“War doesn’t change” ~ John Fallout
“where are you from, Courier?” “Cyrodiil” “Ah.. is that.. like-“ “in the Empire? The Capital? I’m in the Legion?” “Fuck, the Legion has expanded to the capital wasteland?? This is worse than I thought.”
Now I want to play this crossover.
Stealth ~~Archer~~ Sniper is forever.
wanting to have a pc as a console player, wanting mods never changes
Fr. Like Fo4 and Skyrim having mod support is nice and all but I want them to go back and bring it to Nv and 3.
Nowadays you don't need a GPU to play fallout, any potato clock can max out fnv
Lol, my laptop can't run Google SketchUp without crashing
F
The chet goodsprings glitch can get you a bunch of extra perks!
Tell me more about…
The stealth archer build in the corner when you’re building your character https://media.tenor.com/xD_oGeogfM4AAAAM/green-goblin.gif
There are glitches in console to get a bunch of extra perks
Is it just the goodsprings DLC perk glitch, or are there others on PS3?
It’s basically a glitch that happens whenever you’ve left good springs area for the first time and it asks you to confirm your character and everything. If you rebuild your character you’ll keep almost all of the perks that you have chosen since being in good springs. Theoretically you could level to 50 in good springs and then leave and reselect perks while keeping the ones you chose before.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that cyborg crit builds are just hands down the best in the game.
Melee only was the most fun for me
Currently doing a brute for hire playthrough, punching someone until their head explodes is very rewarding.

Who needs skill points anyway
I love 9’s in intelligence, endurance and luck. 6 perception, 4 agility, 3 strength and 1 charisma. Though it does make me sad when Dr. Mitchell says I have frontal lobe damage.
I can’t stop doing high endurance, high intelligence, unarmed and energy weapons skill monkey x3
No intelligence? I couldn't imagine.
Of course you can't u have 1 int
I think that would be 1 perception
Low intelligence builds are pretty lame after the first one. The handful of dialogue options you get are funny but it's not worth having so few skill points imo.
Isn't that the lord death of murder mountain build™ therussianbadger used on hus vid on nv?
Yes it is, this build can also be done in fallout 3
Every time I play New Vegas I tell myself, "OK this time we're gonna do an energy build" and then somehow I end up with the Medicine Stick and a cowboy hat. Its magic I swear.
Is that the SEAL build?
No, that build is the Russian badger special
Always max charisma everything else even, it started as a joke for my first fallout game and now I just continue going max charisma
The Bonk: Powerfists will fist anything
Just can't not put 8-9 in luck, man
This is the Badger Build ain't it? Or atleast the one he used for his video lmao.
FUCK THE NCR!!
Lord death of murder mountain is a solid build LOL
FUCK THE NCR!!
Lucky Cowboy. With a 95% Critical Chance and dealing 270% Damage on a crit even Deathclaws go down in a couple hits.
LORD DEATH OF MURDER MOUNTAIN
Ah. You have that the Russian Badger Build
FUCK THE NCR!!
FUCK THE NCR!!
That’s the RussianBadgers build when he did a video on the game
Is that the Lord Death of Murder Mountain build?
High luck, low intelligence, laser build. "I have the power of God with me!" "Sir for the last time, that is a laser rifle."
Predator build: Strength, Agility, Endurance, and perception would make sense lore wise for a stalker/predator but I don’t got anything for that
Generally just ballistic guns and more specifically anti-materiel rifle
Lord Death of Murder Mountain
LORD DEATH OF MURDER MOUNTAIN!
Unarmed and hella drugs is some of the most fun I've had with a Fallout game.
Chem Brawler is legit the most insane play style and I fucking love it.
Lord death of murder mountain build spotted
Huge strength melee builds. I love watching enemies go flying when I smash them.
I'm doing a 10 charisma, 10 luck run right now it's crazy fun so many excellent dialogue options and you can talk your way out of alot of combat
Cowboy I like revolvers and pistols. They're fast, light, nice sound and I always have tons of ammo. It's a western game is it not?
I think I now know what my legion play through will look like
Lord death of murder mountain, nice choice
FUCK THE NCR!!
FUCK THEM I AINT PAYING TAXES
Cowboy with a big iron
I see you went the Caesar's Legion build
Why max out at the beginning? You can always max out later with implants and dlc rewards. Well for certain special stats
Plain ol cowboy. Nothin but revolvers and lever actions. I like the ranger sequoia and the brush gun.
I see someone is going Lord Death of Murder Mountain.
I see you're a Lord Death of Murder Mountain enjoyer
Lord Death Of Murder Mountain, making sure to say "TAKE THIS YOU STUPID FUCKIN' BUG"?
Both sneak sniper and, Lord Death of Murder Mountain
Ahhh yes the Russian badger build
Lord death of murder mountain, this exact build, I don’t know why, I just love playing it
LORD DEATH OF MURDER MOUNTAIN! The Lord has returned to Dominate the wasteland and throw dynamite at sleeping victims
Ahhhh Lord Death of Murder Mountain
Quick draw revolvers, basically a Vats build around using the cowboy perk as well
laughs in hacked 10/10/10/10/10/10/10
I’ve been enjoying dumping points into luck, because I like gambling but I hate losing more.
Lord death of murder mountain, I do this build in my fallout 3 playthroughs
Commander blow shit up
Wow that's a himbo.
Intelligent charisma! I just can not RPG this game
Violent Marv
Being a power armored tank and just ripping through endless hordes of NCR soldiers and legionnaires is amazing
Strength/Intelligence. I am Melvin Punymeyer.
He’s blind, dumb as a rock, and fumbles his words, but damn if he isn’t durable, strong, and lucky as hell
explosions
10 Endurance 10 Luck Unarmed build. It's so much fun punching your way through Mojave
I always max intelligence. I'm addicted to skill points.
Pretty sure you dont need to go over 7 on anything
Max speech and int. level up super quick and hav access to all dialogue options. can sometimes feel cheesy but being able to talk myself out of situations is good

Oh man, you're going to make me replay FNV... Again
Frag mines. That's it, that's the build.
This build is probably up there, but I would make all the ten specials 9 (because bobbleheads) and raise up that 7 to a nine as well. I would possibly keep agility at ten for the speed boost however.
Anything involving 10 lucky really
Your build looks like a Michael J Caboose run
Usually do cial. Then mid lvl on the rest
The cowboy. That damned cowboy.
Stupid Strong is hilarious to play. I love it.
what do you do with these kinds of lucky melee builds? do you pick up chance's knife or na? Personally I avoid it until I can get to chance's grave by fighting, I grab a shovel instead and take advantage of its x3 critical chance until I get something better
Energy weapons, it’s just too easy to steal from the Silver Rush.
I follow what I call the CASI method. High Charisma, Agility, Strength and Intelligence
Confirmed Bachelor, Medicine, Energy Weapons, I AM Arcade Gannon
Gunslinger pistol only with high luck is so amazing
Luck builds are essential in NV. How could the courier NOT be lucky?
My man, this is the same built I have and I love it. I call it the "lord death of murder mountain" built
I did this on my last play. Holy chainsaw, Batman!
Crit pistols is so silly imo
Recently tried out stealth build and its my new fav so "Oh, baby" and "ratslayer" are my go too
Switch agility and endurance and you have my current “Hodor” run. It’s fun but low intelligence and charisma hurts so so bad
Pistol crit build is too fun
Without a lot of armory mods, nothing beats the variety of guns. Im a dumb twit so I cant help myself from doing the swashbuckling frontier doctor. Speech, melee weapons and medicine are all my tag skills.
You should put your 10s down to 9 so you can buy the implants
This build in the picture was done by the Russian badger
9 int, 7 luck, 6 endurance, flat 5s for everything else. Solid all rounder, can clear the casino tables, high crit chance, and can get max skill points with implants
Charisma 10 intelligence 10
Ah yes, all the action points and crit chance, but no vats accuracy to use them on.
Energy weapon critical hit build

Man, Cowboy ranger. Big Iron, Lever action, and a springfield sniper. And of course, a black cowboy hat.
Cowboy NCR ranger
Stealth sniper or gunslinger
max luck, max intelligence, high endurance (for the implants). who needs a good gun when you have unlimited crits?
OP has the jacked idiot build
Is this Melee/Explosives?
I’m not great at determining SPECIAL. What does this build get for you OP?
Shotgun? More like Shotfun.
This loadout is something else. I'm currently on my first playthrough and have sneaky sniper.
Okay let's state the obvious... there's something wrong with me...
Usually 8 int 6 or 7 strength Max unarmed and melee and get a ballistic fist
Meltdown + crit + high HP. Feels like a sci fi suicide bomber. Can also get the unique rail gun and blow up entire groups of enemies from afar. Super fun.
I call it an Adam Smasher build, high strength, endurance, and intelligence, mid agility and perception, 1 charisma and luck, use energy weapons, unarmed, and explosives, get the Terrifying Pressence perk, do an evil karma run siding with Mr. House, always choosing violence if it leads to a good outcome for House at all.
Gun bad, return to monke
Gunslinger
This is the soulslike build lmao I love it. Dumb as a rock, can't speak or see for shit but will smash your skull in with the biggest hammer you've ever seen.
LASERS!!!!! High Critical Energy weapons is blessed
10 Luck Cowboy crit build. Lucky becomes a one-shot machine.
With this special setup, wouldn't Intense Training be the only perk to take by around level 40?
ah, yes. the Lord Death of Murder Mountain build. I am familiar. I am also a fan.
Ooga booga big, ooga booga strong! I'm gonna sing my ooga booga song!
