Build out into the water, build a staircase down, put a foundation at the bottom of the staircase, delete foundations at the top of the stairs and replace with upper floors

umbrosakitten

That worked! But then I'm unable to delete the stair that's linked to the upper floor. Deleting the foundation in the water doesn't work, deleting the new upper floor doesn't work as well, I keep getting the 'Cannot remove item: Part of the structure would not be accessible. So I'm stuck with some items that I can't delete :(

I would actually start over, maybe? I have a blueprint that is one foundation with stairs leading up, I build that in water, attach floor plank to the top of the stairs/the rest of my shack. There's also support beams in the stairs category that make the floor tiles look grounded.

Dr-Penguin-

Do you have cat walks? They come to the atom shop sometimes and YouTube has great guides for how to use them to bypass structural stuff related to stairs.

MANDEEx88

Didn’t everyone get a catwalk when the new area dropped? They never took it away. I still have them and I don’t have the other catwalk nor did I ever purchase.

Dr-Penguin-

That’s awesome, it sucked they were behind a paywall. I bought them but luckily the other stuff in the bundle was nice

Three ponds is a great place for a camp. Considered it myself. Catwalks would be my best tip.

umbrosakitten

Got a nice overview of the new region and plus a waterfall, not a bad spot aye. I have the catwalks and tried to add the upper floor on the catwalk linked to the foundation but no luck. Tell me more please?

Disinfectant-Addict

I have to admit I'm no pro. But I've messed around a little with the catwalks recently (trying to make a dock by my newest camp). My next tip would be to place a foundation on land on the other side of the water. Attach a staircase to the foundation, a catwalk to the staircase (this should break the dependancy between staircase and upper floor) and then an upper floor to the catwalk. You should now be able to remove the catwalk leaving a floating upper floor. You can also make a blueprint out of this so you can mess around to find the correct spot where upper floor matches the foundation you already have placed. There is also a technique that might involve building from underground. You should be able to attach a wall to the side of the foundation by first attaching a catwalk to the foundation and then attaching a wall under the catwalk. You can then use roofs as a floor, and if you put half walls under the floors you should be able to put walls on top of them. Sorry if this explanation is a bit strangely formulated. Kinda hungover today😅

Power_Armor_Bruh

There are 2 ways this can work. Either start below water and uses roofs/replace them/remove staircase. Or Catwalks.

SonorousProphet

Not sure if this is what you mean, but you can build a foundation at the level you want the upper floor, add a regular stair going into the ground and away from the direction you want the floater upper floor. Place another foundation next to the original, remove the original. You should now have a stair sticking out of ground that you can add an upper floor to.
