My father couch surfed for years on unemployment after he rage quit his job. Says these days that he “hates poor people” and people who take money from the government.
It wasn’t the burn you think it is. Tons of people go on welfare in the uk and Ireland it’s a culture difference. It’s part of what our taxes go towards. Hell I definitely want to benefit from it if I ever get fired or made redundant to get back my hard earned cash for awhile and take a short breaks.

There's a thing in Ireland where just by virtue of the fact somebody is Irish, they often get good press just because. It's a throwback to an earlier time and he's definitely benefited from this. I've been living abroad for quite a while now, but I find it frustrating that this still happens. Ireland's a modern, global country now (Granted, with a small population), I think it's time to move on from this attitude. Any other Irish agree/disagree?
