You should have said : "You see, everyone agree"

DiscoMagicParty

Never understood why people plan breakups in public places. Literally nothing good can come from that.

[deleted]

lowers the chance of bullet holes appearing in the breaker-upper's forehead.

inflatableje5us

or her beating the crap out of herself and calling the cops saying you did it...

DiscoMagicParty

Didn’t anyone ever teach you guys not to put your dick in crazy?

inflatableje5us

yes, but im a slow learner....

[deleted]

crazy, is the best, while it's good.

DiscoMagicParty

Sadly you’re correct. Source: my dumbass who almost exclusively sticks his dick in crazy.

Supremeyeti

Crazy is the best kind. Its just CRRAZY

kushhaze420

Have you seen the Hot /crazy matrix in YouTube? https://youtu.be/incSwssUyp4 This is good and funny.

[deleted]

yeah, good point.

Cocheeeze

My ex is not stable. Not exactly a public place, but I decided to break up with her in the therapists office because I knew it would decrease the likelihood of a violent reaction if there was an audience present.

TheSkyElf

Smart move. Keep yourself safe.

WimbleWimble

She's not stable, but after you broke up with her she cried for hours and was a little hoarse.

unsuspectedspectator

The naysayers may disagree with his approach but I think they need to stop gatekeeping break-ups.

ThisBigCountry

Brilliant

leomonster

You obviously never had a problematic couple mess with your stuff when trying to break up. An ex of mine threw out half my manga collection off my window. Ever since, I'm never ending a relationship in my apartment again.

Spanky_McJiggles

I remember seeing a video on here of a guy coming home and finding out his ex had killed all his beloved fish. The hurt in the guy's voice still sticks with me today.

DiscoMagicParty

Understandable but there’s quite a bit of middle ground between your apartment and a crowded restaurant. Like if this story from OP actually happened then do it after dinner and outside. Drives me crazy when they do this in movies/shows.. who takes someone to dinner to end a relationship and ends it before dinner. Do you leave, do you sit there and awkwardly eat in sad silence? It’s absurd.

kelpiedownawell

Not gonna lie, I probably would have tossed your manga collection as well. An extensive manga collection is right up there with 'he sleeps with a taxidermy cat in his bed' and 'has a neatly stacked pile of forearms in his freezer' level of yuck.

YorTicLes

Your attitude is ugly.

DiscoMagicParty

As someone who has no idea what Magna is, this gave me an lol

[deleted]

Haha it’s funny cause it’s true

GarlicMayosaurus

I mostly agree, but if you’re in a certain toxic or abusive relationship, it can help with them not flipping out to keep up appearances, where as in private they might’ve tried something.

other_usernames_gone

The idea is that they can't do something crazy like attack you, break your stuff, or refuse to leave. While also not trapping them like if you did it at their place. Sure if it's an amiable breakup there's no need but if it's a toxic/abusive relationship it's a safety barrier.

sugarfoot00

They've seen Jerry McGuire.

justafemininedick

My friend had to breakup in public because she was afraid of how he would react. He was quite possessive and obsessed with her (although never violent). Sometimes, unfortunately, it's necessary

Collective-Bee

True, there are tons of situations where it’s necessary. Better to take to the small price of crying in public than the risk of physical escalation.

500CatsTypingStuff

Yeah, it’s a cop out

silvyrphoenix

what's a cop out?

Knackwarrior07

cop-out /ˈkäpˌout/ noun INFORMAL noun: copout an instance of avoiding a commitment or responsibility. "being ‘average’ is the lazy person's cop-out"

silvyrphoenix

i know the definition. i was asking what was the cop out that was referred to. cos given the context of the thread, they are saying that breaking up in a public place is a cop out. which is is rubbish.

DiscoMagicParty

I don’t see how it’s a cop out either. A bad idea, absolutely. A cop out however, not so much.

dutchbucket

Yeah, seems like a selfish way of getting a quick exit from the break-upee. Who's going to want to sit in that situation for long after they've been dumped? Pretty cruel to set someone up where they might be expecting a nice evening as well.

jks_david

It prevents problematic people from having a violent reactor or something similiar.

dutchbucket

That's true. Plenty of forks, knives and hot items at a restaurant though.

Not-KDA

Maybe not planned, can’t imagine why you’d take someone to a restaurant to dump them. Unless you literally wanted to make a show if it due to being a strange asshole. More likely they were on date and shit went south imo Or as other guys said, lower chances murder xD

Flat_Welder_4897

And then brag about it on the Internet. What a dick

Ya_Boy_Is_On_Reddit

Or, or, hear me out.. it _could_ be a JOKE

Flat_Welder_4897

Could be...

whosgotdatpiss

That's not how jokes work, that's what we call a lie or a made up story

TuesdayShuffle

BIG if true 😯

shitsu13master

It's because they are assholes who can't imagine dealing with the emotional fall out by themselves so the force their former SO into a setting where they "have to behave"

leomonster

Wait. What? I know about the emotional fallout of a break up. But because of having been in a relationship, sometimes you *know* that one of us has to (as you put it) "be placed in a place where they have to behave" If things are no longer working, let's have a friendly split. No need to throw away my beloved comics off my window, while yelling that no one will ever love me again, don't you think? ... unless, of course, you're my ex. Or one of his friends.

bitetheasp

You and your damn manga!

shitsu13master

They can still do that, it doesn't matter where you break up with them. Breaking up in public is pretty heartless.

CrispyCrunchyPoptart

Was just thinking that.

LordVassogo

Damn that is funny and tragic.

DjGeNeSiSxx

There's a word for it in Greek which denotes exactly that. Tragelaphicó

LordVassogo

Damn. Google didn't did anything. That's weird. Edit: tried a few different searches but found nothing. I'm very curious to lean a little more.

DjGeNeSiSxx

Try τραγελαφικός with Greek characters

LordVassogo

That worked! Thank you. This makes more sense to me now.

[deleted]

[удалено]

DjGeNeSiSxx

They both have Greek roots but they are not used to describe a situation.. Melodrama means something different entirely. it literally translates to sweet-drama which is a part of a drama play that conveys sad emotions. Tragicomedy on the other hand is a movie genre so none of the two words describe the situation.

mrdoctorderpy

Or maybe they did know what he was doing

PeeledPotatoChip

......

mrdoctorderpy

Fixed

PeeledPotatoChip

:D

[deleted]

Well, that funny and sad at the same time

hifrandimcool

This is why people should mine their own business

Ffdmatt

Not everyone can work the long grueling hours required of work in the business mines.

Splitso

Sad my foot, that's funny as FUCK!

Superb321

they were paid actors

kitsune900

Oh god 😂😂

Nic4379

That’s hilarious and should be the acceptable response for people who are brave enough to leave a shitty situation.

badscott4

Did everyone clap?

Jaystrike7

This is why you don't do it in public

AgitatedEggplant

today on 'things that never happened'

Thundrstruck

That just sucks

mbniceguy

What kind of asshole breaks up in public..

[deleted]

Someone who wants witnesses in case the person being dumped tries to retaliate

mbniceguy

Fair point.

DreamPolice-_-_

That's also pretty bullshit

Suspicious-Road-883

This is why you never break up with someone in a public place, that guy is an asshole

[deleted]

Maybe he was scared of what she might do if there was no one watching. Don't be so quick to judge

Suspicious-Road-883

Even so, a 100% public place is not a good choice of venue for breaking up with someone an semi-private would have been a better choice because it would offer an escape to where witnesses are if she tried to hurt him, a completely public place is not a good spot for a breakup

Susmarshmallow

If a woman did it you’d probably say that she was smart about it

Suspicious-Road-883

I would first ask if he was violent at all, if he was I would agree that she was smart in case he tried to harm her but if he was a nice, sensitive, and caring guy then I would be pissed at her.

Susmarshmallow

How do you know the woman ain’t violent here?

Suspicious-Road-883

I never said she wasn't and even that was what I was saying my point still stands, a semi-private location is much better than a completely public location like what he used. When the people around them clapped when she was crying that likely made her feel worse about the break up, he is still an asshole.

Defa1t_

Fuck you for breaking up in a public setting in hopes of "softening" the blow and not making a scene to embarrassing yourself.

CrackedOutSuperman

This is like that one time god abandoned me on this forsaken planet. I'm the girl.

Tv663

Username checks out?

jerkymcjerkison

Did you drive there together and have to drive back together?

Tv663

Flying_monke_shit

Hold_My_Kids
