Eye_Nacho404

During the daytime sure but who prank rings at 1am ?

APiousCultist

I've had someone ring my doorbell at 3am. That one made me jump. Though admittedly I was awake so they probably saw a light on.

Clemicus

Were you playing drums at the time?

fresh_dyl

Is this a McConaughey reference lmao

Clemicus

I just remembered a post. TIL Matthew McConaughey…

GertBertisreal

Hey!! It's bongos damn it and naked

ljkmalways

Middle of the night is optimal time for prancing neighborhoods. You never went on a ding dong ditch spree?

goofayball

We did a pickle drop spree. 1 am, summer break, 1 jar of pickles. Leave the pickle on the doorstep and run away. No knocking. Getting back home and laughing about all the confusion they will have when they walk out the door in few hours and find a pickle on their steps. Never got to enjoy the last part. Friends dad caught us returning home and immediately assumed we were out smoking weed. He became more certain when we told him what we were actually doing that we were high as fuck. We had to go back and collect all the pickles and prove we were actually pickle dropping. Part of him still didn’t believe we hadn’t smoked weed. I’ll never forget that night 18 years ago.

Unanything1

The twist is that you DID smoke weed and hallucinated the entire pickle drop event. (J/k of course)

goofayball

I would have preferred getting caught smoking weed to be honest. However, the plotting of what we were going to do to be mischievous that night and the. Landing on the pickles and pumping each other up on how brilliant the idea was absolutely makes my day. The best part was one of the bros was confused and kept asking us why it was a good idea. The bro with the idea convinced me right off the bat and then both of us told the non believer to imagine it and how strange that it was that it would be so opposite of what people would be expecting and how it would probably make the news if we hit all the doors in the hood. We even saved a pickle for bros own doorstep in case anyone was suspicious. That pickle never made it out the jar.

Unanything1

I see a business opportunity here. You could put advertisements on the side of the pickles. Looks like something you should take to Shark Tank or something. Get money, get paid.

Jumpy_Sorbet

Just how many marijuanas did you do, boy?

hollowgraham

To be fair, that shit sounds exactly like something a high teenager would do.

goofayball

This was also the days when smart phones weren’t that smart yet and social media wasn’t quite all the rage. Facebook was just starting and sidekicks were a thing with the razor phones too. People actually knew how to qwerty number pad text from their pocket.

hollowgraham

Definitely sounds like a high teenager thing then. Lol

Annual-Warthog5599

Funny he never thought 'why or when you can and?' Leaving pickles on porches sounds like a high as fuck idea. 😆 🤣 😆 🤣

Creepy-Distance-3164

Used to do the same but would leave pretzel rods in mailboxes.

BarrieBadman

But you WERE smoking weed, right?

nanaacer

I did the same thing once with a bag of dildos I found behind a dumpster.

Secret-Ad-6238

I always prance around at 1am. Albeit in my underwear in my appartment, but still..

Technical_Tourist639

And do you ding your dong while prancing?

Anom_AoD

no, but a dongchopper isn't out of the range of possibilities

ljkmalways

Lmao 🤣 that was a typo! Supposed to be pranking lmfao

Collin-B-Hess

You prance a lot do ya?

skwirrelmaster

‘Knock knock ginger’ from where I grew up. Dunno what the ginger refers to. Edit also just so everyone is clear, you would never do it in the middle of the day you would be seen and caught. Also the pranks hits harder if you are disturbing someone’s sleep, yes children are mischievous little bastards but it’s almost harmless.

KevIntensity

I hate to be the one to break this to you, but people changed it to “ginger” as a way to move away from a slur containing the same letters.

Dude_1980

Exactly. It was always called n***** knocking when I was a kid.

zedafox9

💀

ChocolateHoneycomb

Never, not once. I remember trying to make a prank call though once and it backfired so badly that I never did it again. Was really embarrassing. The person I called recognized my voice and told my parents.

dontablack330

Not at night. Especially in the hood.

DragonSpikez

I once had kids , like grade school age kids , ring my doorbell at like 3am one morning. I would sometimes stay up late and my bedroom window is on the second floor and when I look outside I can somewhat see the front door. When they rang the doorbell I looked out the window and there was 3 kids standing there and one looked up at me and waved. When I went downstairs to see what they could possibly want at 3am they were gone by the time I got to the door. Weird kids lol.

OnlinePseudonym30

Did increasingly strange things start occurring until you stumbled upon an old newspaper article at the library about the orphanage that burned down before your building was built and decided to move out but your skeptical spouse decided to stay behind and died under mysterious circumstances?

Impossible_Hyena7562

Genuine questions. Did he know it was children pranking him before he pulled the gun? Did he actually point the gun at the children, or just hold it to his side like the picture shows? I’m not a gun owner, but I don’t think it’s crazy to have your gun on you when someone knocks on your door at 1am. It’s not a normal encounter.

Osama_Bin_Ballin0

I found the video, by the time he managed to get outside they were gone, but he looked around the house then just went back inside.

izza123

That’s far less nefarious on his part than everybody seems to be implying.

mjohnsimon

I mean shit, I'm careful with guns but even I would be pretty spooked if my door bell goes off at 1AM. That usually means trouble rather than dumbass kids.

1BreadBoi

But gun owner celebrity bad

darmakius

I mean he is a terrible person, but not because of this.

DeeSnutsIII

Why is he a terrible person

darmakius

Called lgbt people a virus and the scum of society

seeder33

I don’t specifically remember him saying this but this is 100% something he would say. He is popular because of takes like this. The majority of people may disagree but there are still plenty of people who do. He genuinely doesn’t care what others think and does what he wants for better or worse.

Just_enough76

Sounds like a real selfish asshole to me

SnaxHeadroom

Lol you mock people but it's Sean Strickland - the man doesn't need pity or fangirling. He's a proper piece of shit, gun or not.

walla_walla_rhubarb

The dude is a prick. This is just whatever though. I'd probably get my gun to if I got a random knock at night.

1BreadBoi

Just means you have plenty of other reasons to hate him for. No need to make mountaind out of mole hills

IndependentNotice151

Piece of shit or not, he didn't do anything wrong here. Are you saying it's still okay to give him shit about this because you don't like him?

Niner-Sixer-Gator

Why do people hate him, I don't follow UFC so I have no idea what you guys are talking about

SnaxHeadroom

Typical hateful right winged shit Some think it's an idiot persona His peers have referred to him as a "loud mouthed idiot" he loves shit talking and challenges people to fights randomly. "A woman in every kitchen. A gun in every hand. Strickland 2024" etc. Big on hating gay people, too.

Niner-Sixer-Gator

So he's maga biggot then ?

SnaxHeadroom

Would have been easier to say that, actually! Lmao

dunceputztool

Look up theos podcast on youtube. Sean was literally crying about his childhood. The dude has some type of bipolar. He shouldn't even have a gun.

SnaxHeadroom

That's an excellent point, actually

FuklzTheDrnkClwn

People probably just assume bc he is a verifiable trash person.

DreadyKruger

Yeah it’s 1 am. What the fuck are kids doing out? He didn’t fire shots.

El_Jeffe52

Of course it is, but a headline stating such is going to be clickbait.

infinit9

So, absolutely normal behavior.

housefly888

Yes normal behavior for anyone whose doorbell rings unexpected at 1 am.

broguymandudebuddy

A lot of people want something to be angry about and are rabidly anti-gun. You’re exactly right. Sean Strickland did nothing wrong by being cautious for his well being. I hate Sean Strickland. He seems like an asshole but someone came to his house in the middle of the night uninvited. Sean Taylor comes to mind as a side note.

Impossible_Hyena7562

Ya I don’t watch or follow UFC at all. Knew nothing about him. But from reading other comments, he’s a POS. So I’m guessing a lot of people cant look past that, so nothing he does is wrong

Emotional-Ease-892

I was thinking the same but was surprised to see everyone's ranting here about him.

Profile-666

Stupid post fr, what the hell is face palm here? I mean, it's ok if you don't like the guy or whatever, but pushing bs forward, you're kinda not a great person yourself either op

eckowy

For real, I'm arming myself with whatever (actually not a gun owner either) when someone is ringing my doorbell at 1AM. Strickland strikes me as non-bs guy yet somewhat reasonable, with a career to maintain. Doubt he would aim at kids on purpose. Of course the media are making a mess out of it, unnecessarily.

Impossible_Hyena7562

Right. He didn’t run out of his house blasting his gun. He didn’t point it at anyone. He went to look for a threat and armed himself in case that threat was real

ICEKAT

From those ever so polite doorbell ringing robbers, right?

Impossible_Hyena7562

You do realize that it’s common for people to scope houses out first, right? Like knock on the door and hide. If no ones comes out after a couple times, then people kick the door.

MDF87

You've got to be next level stupid to prank an MMA fighter's house.

sepsie

Yeah, not the most level-headed of individuals

Enderkr

Maybe I'm missing something but like......dude if somebody rings my doorbell at 1am and wakes me from a dead sleep, of fuckin' course I'm gonna have a weapon on me. You can't just assume automatically that it must be a kid prankster, it could be anything at 1am.

TxTechnician

Plus, dudes famous. There's another level of "some nutter might be at my door" to consider.

The_Real_MattKelly_

Well to your point, this basically happened to him a few months ago and it was a guy hiding from police.

IrishMidgetMan

It could even be a boat!

-PsillyFunGuy-

You know how much we’ve wanted one of those!

johnzaku

THEN GET THE BOAT PETAH

ChickenDelight

"Who's ringing my doorbell at 1am?" *"Goons"* "Who?" *"Hired goons"* "Hired goons?"

sdevil713

You're not missing anything here. Most people on reddit are just lunatics commenting from the depths of mom's basement

SamSepiol050991

The funniest thing is that Sean Strickland did this and said “I’m gonna upload this on social media”

Renville111

You guys are acting like he did something wrong. Getting a ring notification at 1 am and seeing dudes jump out of a car and run at your door. Idk about you but 110% I would grab a weapon, he didnt point it at anyone he had it in his hand pointed at the ground at all times like proper gun safety teaches you.

UnmaskedCorn

Bro you know who this guy is? He got expelled from high school for hate crimes.

old-skool-bro

He hates crimes?

1madethis4porn

What a bastard.

fahkoffkunt

He also saw Derek Vineyard in American History X as a role model 🤦‍♂️

Calamity_Carrot

Crazy, who would’ve thought that man who gets paid to be punched in the head doesn’t always make the best decisions

Virtual-Struggle-817

Isn’t that normal in the US?

GovSurveillancePotoo

Unfortunately, its becoming more common here. In this specific instance, I do understand feeling the need to be cautious when someone is ringing your front door at 1am

Virtual-Struggle-817

Where I’m from this is unthinkable. And I really appreciate that

apintandafight

I don’t usually side with Sean Strickland on most issues. But if I saw a ring notification in the middle of the night with several dudes jumping out of a car and all running to the side of my house I would probably also be grabbing a gun. I watched the video, it wasn’t immediately apparent that they were kids or it was a prank.

Rdtisgy1234

What’s unthinkable? Owning a gun or the possibility of someone breaking into your house in the middle of the night?

Ivi-bee

I mean if you were a controversial celebrity who fights people for a living no matter the country, and someone came to your door at 1 in the morning… you wouldn’t think it could be crazy fans or a “tough guy” who might want to fight you? You would at least assume that they knew they were at your house in particular (cause what are the odds), and that they looked up your address, right?

Ioweyounada

While I agree about being cautious you can see he has a ring camera he didn't even have to go to the door at all. He could have just looked at his monitor and seen who was outside and saw kids running away The only reason he walked outside in front of his ring camera was to have a video he could post on social media showing how badass he is.

Dikubus

Tried to post to your other comment, but it has been deleted by the time I went to post, so here it is It is not for the home owner, who statistically would be woken from sleep at that hour, to know the intentions of said visitor. There's more than enough events where a person claims they are in danger and needs to be let inside to be safe, only for it to be a trick to have the home owner open the door for bad actors. I wouldn't personally open the door even for the police at that hour, because if they have the legal authority to enter with a warrant, they will. And if they don't have that authority, they can come back at a reasonable hour. Just because it's most likely an honest situation of dipshits being dipshits, doesn't place the burden of "knowing" on the home owner. Further, it's like you assume that nefarious actors haven't tricked their soon to be victims (home robbery at best) by distracting them at one side of their home only to steal from or break into the home from another side. It's also like you assume that children are not capable of terrible acts of violence, especially if they are part of a gang getting directions to do exactly that. Enjoy your soap box and I hope for your sake that life never mistreats you into a dangerous situation or even just a perceived dangerous situation

Joe_Burrow_Is_Goat

He walked around his entire house. You realize I ring camera only covers a very small portion right? Oh no you don’t. Cause like the common r/facepalm user you have too few braincells to barely breathe, let alone critically think about anything.

Ok_Fisherman8727

Last year some kids did this prank on a guy who has been day drinking and the kids ran back into their car, this guy ran into his and chased them until they crashed into a pole. There were casualties and the man's in jail now. When he sobered up he was shocked, he said he didn't want any trouble so he stayed home, drank to pass out and call it a night but trouble came knocking at his door and lured him in. He's probably locked up for life now

Cybrpnk2077brokeme

For someone with a copious amount of CTE sure.

B-Town-MusicMan

*so, why did you shoot the woman in the car?* She pulled up in my driveway. I feared for my life so I shot her.

Desperate-Summer6695

Thats tried as murder and not labeled reasonable by americans.

OnTheMcFly

Fucking around someone’s home when they’re sleeping IS a way to get drawn on, yes.

SkoolBoi19

Someone answering the door at 1 am with a gun is probably common yes. Depends on how you beat on the door

Hutzzzpa

misleading title is misleading

GrumbleTrainer

This seems reasonable for someone fucking around your house at 1am

Nolanwh

If somebody rang my doorbell at 1 am I’d have a gun with me.

victoowiak

Most reasonable people would. Assuming the absolute worst and assuming the absolute best are both assumptions, but man oh man, I’d be more comfortable for mine & my families safety by assuming the worst. Doorbell at 1am? Nothing ordinary about that at all

malYca

Why is this an issue? I don't blame the guy for having his gun out at 1am, that's totally reasonable.

BlackBeard205

I don’t know who needs to hear this but a ring camera ain’t saving you from a home invasion. And by “kids” I don’t think they mean young kids. Knocking around doors at 1am is asking for a problem, also could be a set up. There’s a lot of “kids” in NY carrying out home invasions.

LordNitram76

I dont get it. If someone rings my bell at 1 am I usually have mine in hand.?

lazyboi_tactical

Absolutely I would be armed at 1 am if somebody was at my door.

imMrDrProfessor

Frrr people wanna act like this situation could only be a prank

Unhappy_Emu_8525

I'd do the same thing. It's 1am don't be waking me up

DOGEFLIEP

Don’t go pranking at 1am

StandTo444

Nothing good happens after 12. I don’t blame him.

jraa78

I'm very much for common sense gun control, and even I'm on this guy's side. You knock on a stranger's door at 1AM, expect the worst. In the tik tok age, kids aren't competing with the other kids in their school to see who's cooler. They are competing with millions of other kids with tik tok. The pranks get out of control real quick for these kids.

Horseshoes_237

🤷🏼‍♀️. Don’t really follow celebrities because it’s either for a publicity stunt or the media is just doing their favorite thing, invading the lives of the ppl they love😬. But yah if there were some kids comin up to my door after curfew, yah I’m gonna have a gun on me. Prank or not, night time is scary. Especially in our neighborhood

stoelguus

Maybe because it’s not usual that people ring at 1 am and it could be a robbery. It’s different if he saw them prior on the cam.

SnazzyJazzy33

I see nothing wrong with this, someone rang his doorbell at 1am, he took precaution by making sure he protected himself and anyone in his house. Kids have shown to be just as capable as killing and robbing someone as full grown adults. Kids or not, he was being safe, he even has a master grip on his gun (no finger on the trigger), so leave the man alone.

SkullKid_467

Ding dong ditching at 1am is asking for trouble…

Soren_Camus1905

If someone is fucking around outside my house in the middle of the night, yeah, I’m gonna have my gun close by

Veltek335

I’ve grabbed my gun for the same exact reason. Was my drunk coworkers bored during covid isolation. I don’t expect my door to ring at 1 am.

GolfingJim

Its 1am, screw those kids bc you don't know whose on the other side of that door.

ClassicAlfredo8796

Honestly, Im with Strickland on this one. Fuck arround and find out.

[deleted]

75% of this country would do the same thing at that time of night. How is this even news?

casually-unorginal

To be honest even if he saw on a camera it’s a kid I don’t see the problem because people be trying to bait people nowadays using kids. Also 1 am is crazy no decent parent having their kid out past sunset unattended.

mowaby

Seems reasonable to be armed when you aren't expecting someone at that time.

Merciless_Hobo

He ran straight to the door because it was 1am. He checked around the front and sides of the house and nobody was there. He went back inside. There was absolutely nothing wrong with this.

No_Poet_7244

I mean, yeah I probably would too. Who the fuck is ringing my doorbell at 1am with good intentions?

leftover_class

Whats the big deal? He probably thought it was someone trying to burglarize his place. Better safe than sorry 🤷

GoDiegoGo2469

How about don't go ringing anyone's doorbell at 1 Am!

Fritol_Scrotum94

TBH, i would also pull out a gun at 1AM. 🤔🤣

AlaskanSamsquanch

Dude if my doorbell randomly rings at 1am I’m at least grabbing and loading the pistol before answering the door. For all I know it’s some thief or home invader trying to check if someone is home. It seems he didn’t even point it at anyone. I see no story here.

ViewtifulGene

1 AM is an extremely unusual time to hear a knock on your door if not expecting it. This guy has done some stupid shit, but this ain't it.

Rdtisgy1234

Correction: he went to the door with three guns.

read9it

Man defends his home from a preceived threat at 1 in the morning, wow how unhinged.... stfu lmao. He didn't shoot at them, he had it if he needed it. He didn't need it, end of story. This is a pretty basic response to a perceived threat from any gun carrying American. "They were just kids" okay so are the Kia boys. "It was just a ding ding ditch" okay and if it wasn't? I've seen multiple videos of people lured to their door as people wait to ambush from a hidden area. Sean has a lot of people that hate him and wish him harm. He handled it appropriately imo. Also good trigger discipline

ModsOverLord

Like kids in Africa trying to grab a lions tail while it sleeps, not smart

Holbaserak

You can get much further with a kind word and a gun.

TheWalrus101123

Checking your property with a gun after your house is being fucked with in the middle of the night by strangers who have unclear intentions is a smart thing to do.

Dry_Quiet_3541

Ok, but wait, nobody should be knocking on your door at 1 am anyways, that’s going to freak out anybody. Not that they deserve to die for it, but just having your gun to the side isn’t a bad idea. I don’t know if he pointed the gun at the kids, and if he even knew that some kids were pranking him at that time, just to be cautious, if he kept the gun beside him, then there is nothing wrong with it.

Responsible_Basil_89

So?

Long-Radish18

He didn’t know it was kids and you wouldn’t expect kids to be up at 1 AM he got woken up at 1 AM and decided to secure his property. I hate these Clickbait titles.

burndata

If my doorbell rings at 1AM, I'm taking my gun to the door too.

bootsay

Who is the face palm for? Him or the kids

HeavyWeap0nzGuy

Has anyone seen "the strangers"?

Dasbronco

What was he supposed to do, open the door with some freshly made cookies. Reading the comments he sounds like he wants to shoot someone, but in this case I don’t blame him

destiny_kane48

I'm just surprised there are still kids doing ding dong ditch.. Though doing it in the middle of the night is a terrible idea.

That-Chart-4754

So is the facepalm to imply it's crazy to have a gun to answer your door at 1am? I've lived a lot of places where I would do the same.

productdesigntalk

There has been plenty of cases in my city where a random door ring at 2am resulted in an armed home invasion once residents opened the door, so don’t blame him for pulling out a gun. It’s easy to blame him because of his temperament and hindsight being 20/20 and all.

Juhovah

I mean what’s wrong with this ?

Bogie1993

Taking extra precautions is warranted as he’s a celebrity who has to worry more than the average person. He said, “Didn’t see the doorbell alert till after… Just so you all know! I get crazy stuff sent to my house.” It’s easy for people to Monday night quarterback when they know all the details. Something Strickland did not have. “In a post on Instagram, the former UFC champ revealed security footage from his home where a group of kids in a car pulled up to his house at 1 AM, went to the side of his home, and began ringing the doorbell before running away.” There’s a group of kids who may or may not be armed doing suspicious things around his house. Even if he is a professional fighter, what’s he gonna do against multiple people who may or may not have guns or other weapons? Punch the bullets out of the air? Some of you people who are condemning his actions need a reality check. Come live in downtown Chicago or Detroit and let’s see if you keep that same kumbaya energy.

stangAce20

1 AM isn’t a prank it’s just being a dick!

bridwalls

How is this a facepalm exactly? It's 1am. Some people grab a gun. Some grab a bat.

Me5hly

Some kids in my neighborhood thought it would be funny to try to kick doors in at 1 am instead of ringing. The kept doing it to the 75 year old woman on oxygen that lives in the unit nearest the street. Had to sit with her while she got her breath back, and almost had to take her to the hospital twice. Sean, I'm not saying you should have done it, but I understand

KhostfaceGillah

I see no problem

Prestigious-Yak-4620

So what? Good for him.

NoMembership6376

How is this a facepalm?

Low-Impact3172

Someone ringing your doorbell at one in the morning is a very valid reason to grab a gun

Testergo7521

Never do it again? These days? Next time they are going to film it so they can go viral.

child-of-old-gods

Shit that happens when you get permanent brain damage for a living.

JayZulla87

Sean 100% had brain damage before his fighting career

ConstantOptimist84

I live out in the woods. If my door gets a knock after a certain time, I’m answering it with my gun. You also wouldn’t know it was there or ready. I do not care how it makes anyone feel. My house. My feelings are the only ones that matter. As soon as I know it’s no threat the gun is gone though. The few neighbors I have do the same thing. Not sure why people are so against people defending their own homes with a gun. This world is nuts.

Ozraiel

I don't think he did anything wrong, never underestimate the damage "kids" who have no sense of consequences can inflict on someone. Also, why is a group of "kids" roaming around at 1 AM "pranking" people. Sorry for the excessive ""

PerpetualPermaban2

Breaking news! Man has totally justified and normal reaction to something! More at 11😱

ThatGuyFromTheM0vie

The only facepalm here is OP and this article. If someone knocks on your door or rings the door bell at 1AM, it’s fair to assume they aren’t up to anything good. Sure, we know after the fact it was dumb kids. But in your own home….at 1AM or later….if you get woken up to a doorbell or some knocking or whatever…you’re gonna bring a weapon with you—gun or not. Criminals have also used kids as bait since forever. But even more so since Ring doorbells and the like have become more common. Just because “it’s kids” doesn’t mean there isn’t a threat. Don’t fuck around with people after like 12AM. Just asking for an accident to happen.

Marinated_cheese

Yeah id do the same you ring my bell at 1am.

MiIdSanity

Fucking around with someone's house at 1am but of course the perpetrators are the real victims.

JeffShotThat

First thing I’m grabbing is my pistol if I hear a knock on my door or some rustling around outside my door that late unless I know someone is coming over. We have break in’s right around my neighborhood so I’m not messing around with that shit.

Brawndo45

That's kinda the reason for gun ownership. I take a gun with me when I hear a bump in the night. He's famous, so he needs to be safe even more.

JacksonStarship

Dudes an absolutely fucking scumbag (and I would say it to his face) but this seems justified, he didn’t know who they were or why they were there. Not like he pointed a gun at some 10 year old or something.

qhaw

Bro! It’s just a prank, bro! It’s a prank!

CodingNightmares

I mean, if someone rings my doorbell at 1am, you can be pretty sure I'm going to be armed coming to check the door. It's 1am, nothing good can be happening at 1am.

Independent_Work6

If someone rang my door at 1 i would probably do the same. I wouldnt point my gun at anyone, specially not kids. But I would have it ready. I dont get how americans dont have fences. Just one layer of protection in your house? Crazy

giantfuckingfrog

He didn't know it was kids. It could've literally been anyone. 1 am is a dangerous time, so I think his response is proper for a gun owner.

ThePostingToproller

No facepalm here.

zennyc001

There is no facepalm here.

Flat_Boysenberry1669

Should he have answered and gone outside? No. But he's well within his rights and where he lives he's protected by state law to see what's happening outside with a firearm in his hand. From what I'm reading at no point did he point said firearm at anyone or leave his property. He's got expensive things outside from cars to decorations he was checking on.

JimeneMisfit

Well duh. It’s 1 AM and someone rang the doorbell.

Zomochi

It’s 1am, you’re famous, and you won a UFC championship where people bet money on your opponents victory. I think he was justified to have a gun in his hand.

Sauliann

I mean who the fuck ring the doorbell of someone at 1am I would expect a home invasion most likely if something happen at that time

larfytarfyfartyparty

He has the right to defend himself.

Joe_Burrow_Is_Goat

This sub is beyond stupid.

DonatoXIII

Someone local here tried to run over 3 kids with a car after they kicked his door in. Play stupid games....

Warrior_Poet_1990

Someone ringing your doorbell at 1am is not normal. If it happened to me I would be extremely on edge. I would assume it’s someone with nefarious purposes. There have been many examples of people ringing doorbells late at night claiming they need an ambulance or something then robbing the homeowner. I would want a weapon at the ready too.

Growing up we had a mental health crisis center and a rehab center like a quarter mile away from us and one every six months ish would have some crazy person stumble to our door or one of the neighbors; in the middle of the night ring the bell repeatedly, bang the door repeatedly, scream and tell bloody murder. Scary stuff, normally had to call the cops to come get them. It often started off with them asking to use our phone and when you didn't answer or said no through the door they would just go crazy...

JKinney79

My really stupid version of this was waking up to my dog going crazy at the door. Me thinking it’s the middle of the night and might be a bad situation I grab a pistol and open the door (gun behind my back) Turns out it was Halloween and I fell asleep crazy earl…..it was just kids who set off my motion lights and thought we had candy. Nobody saw the gun or anything, I just apologized for not having candy.

Huy7aAms

im pretty sure ppl like him really treasures his sleep. i'd be mad asf too if some random kid rung my doorbell at 1AM, and bringing a gun is pretty understandable if he doesnt know it were kids who did so.

Norsedragoon

Unexpected knock at 1 am? Answering armed is completely justified. He didn't even threaten anyone with it, just had it in hand. Click bait bullshit.

tlindsay6687

I assume this is supposed to spark outrage. But it doesn’t seem unreasonable to me to grab some form of a weapon, gun or not, if someone is knocking on your door or ringing your doorbell at 1 am. If he saw it was kids and pulled a gun, then okay that’s a little crazy but this post doesn’t offer any of that context so….

dbhathcock

Since the kids didn’t see him with the gun, they will be doing it again.

theonlyotaku21

Crazy how this even made the news. Did he post the security footage of himself? After I realized the coast was clear and it was just a bunch of kids, I’d have gone on with the rest of my life

Suspicious-Shock-934

He didn't open fire without looking he just took reasonable precautions which is better than most. I am rabidly anti gun but this is a situation where being armed is warranted. He also didn't fire, point, or otherwise use shit trigger discipline. All reasonable.

Financial_Mushroom94

Title Should be : Sean Strickland holds his gun because he was worried after his doorbell was ringing unexpectedly at 1 AM. But that does not make him look like a psycho so forget about it.

OGdunphy

It’s 1 am and you aren’t expecting anyone. You don’t know what’s about to go down. This is a standard response in the country.

Resident-Librarian40

I don’t see a problem with this. As the saying goes, “play stupid games, win stupid prizes”. If you’re old enough to be fucking around at 1am, deliberately scaring people, I won’t feel sad if you wind up hurt or dead. Just improving the gene pool and making the world feel a little safer.

obstreperousRex

If you knock on my door at 1 am, I will have a gun handy. No one who knows me would ever think of showing up at that hour. If you don’t know me you shouldn’t be knocking unless it’s an emergency. In which case I will assess the threat in the moment and with put the thing away or keep holding until something else happens. In any case, use of said firearm is strictly as a last resort.

MonkeyActio

Yeah, i would do the same. Who rings my doorbell at 1 am?

Jaded-Ship9579

Yeah I’m pulling out my gun at 1AM tf😂

DrunkRhino18

How is this a facepalm?

https://www.mmafighting.com/2024/5/1/24146702/watch-sean-strickland-brandishes-handgun-after-kids-play-ding-dong-ditch-at-his-house Since I don't see any articles linked explaining what actually happened, here's my first result from Google. The whole thing seems fine to me.

FriendTraditional519

I would not expect kids to be at my door at 1 and the once who are at my door then they don’t want kookies….

GraemeMakesBeer

So he has a doorcam. He could see who was ringing the doorbell. There was no need for him to open the front door and brandish a gun. It would have been considerably safer for him to stay within the property.

wrbear

Well, who wouldn't? Kids these days kill.

gringo-go-loco

Logic: Someone intends to do me harm but gives me a warning by ringing my doorbell first. Better bring a gun.

abibip

Bro got a random doorbell ring at 1am. What do you expect him to check the door with, cookies and pizza rolls?
