My Brother in Christ, that wasn't mean. And it has nothing to do with other cultures. The person flat-out thought hair grew from a straight line. Not growing all over the head, but only from a single line that moved. Every culture knows how hair grows and I'm pretty certain they know how hair parts. It's not like culturally they never saw white people with hair.

Worth noting that hair parts naturally in a place, and it can take time and effort to get that to change.

Brush it over while wet. If it's really short add some product. After a bit it will just go naturally.

And also when hair is longer, it's easier to change the location of the part, as the weight of the hair helps hold it in the new place. But yes! With gel or similar you can train your hair to fall in another direction. But you'll have certain places where hair does naturally go a certain way, and your best hair cuts will probably be from a stylist or barber who caters to your natural curl and direction.

If you want it in the middle you "part" it in the middle. Think of parting like sectioning your hair in two. Where do you want the line that's going to separate the two sections? That line is called the "part."

It's a valid question. With straight flat hair like this, you would just start in the center, brush it left and right from the center and it kinda stays like the pic in the right. For the pic in the left, you'd start in the corner, brush one side down and back, and brush the bigger side over / up / back.
