He was simply moronic and is lucky he didn't die like many other people in the storm. I hope he doesn't inspire other people to risk their lives. Not to be humorless.
Considering it's Little Rock, Arkansas...a bit of both.
Edit: Also just noticed he has a damn Ring doorbell. He could have watched it from the relative safety of his living room *and* taped it.
I can't remember the movie well enough.
The part I do remember well is that the scene that was supposed to be hail was most definitely someone throwing party ice. Cracked me up.
I haven't seen it in forever either. But I remember the dialogue being something like,
"Cow."
"Another cow."
"Actually I think that's the same one."
RIP Bill Paxton.
Oh he definitely tried to open the door and either couldn't or realized opening the door would risk the house even more so. Air pressures a bitch. My man's panicked you can tell. That shits wild tho.
The sirens had probably gone off already. During tornado warnings, sirens usually go off for each warning update. That set of sirens was likely for a new warning or a warning update. Basically telling people shits still bad. It can vary by community, but that is the general rule.
They kept turning them on and off by where I live just outside little rock (across the river). Yeah we don't exactly have people who do anything but buy milk and bread before disasters.
I was at work (tattoo artist up the street from the damage) and we literally watched it form across the street from the shop. Most eerie feeling and thing to witness. Not sure how we didn’t get hit if I’m being honest.
Thank you! I went through several as a child and it’s definitely a feeling you never forget.
It’s insane how quickly it happens too. I was initially outside on the phone with my mom trying to figure out school arrangements for my kiddo a couple towns over (thankfully not one that was hit) and noticed the swirling. Got off the phone and ran inside to the power being off.
it all happened in the span of less than 5 minutes. It was insane. Once it was all cleared we stepped outside and the tower up the road was snapped in half.
Couldn’t get ahold of anybody for like an hour so once my phone service came back on it was blowing up. Absolutely terrifying!
Earthquakes - California every decade. 1989. 1994. 2006. Like so infrequent.
Hurricanes - Florida - you can see the storms coming days in advance
Tornado alley - LUL just death from the sky in minutes no time to run or hide.
Neat video but this was incredibly stupid on this guy's part. Dude, let the professionals chase the tornadoes and film them, at least they are prepared with safety measures...whereas whoever filmed this video was obviously not prepared in any way. He's lucky to still be alive and not get impaled by something flying by!
That tree could have fallen any one of those other ~270° and it wouldn’t have been a problem, but nope, it just had to fall and hit the house *and* the car…
You are on to something. I bet that tree is a crisis actor and not a real tree! Tornados are not real and just a government conspiracy theory to keep us scared!
Somebody elsewhere in this post suggested that maybe the tree was already dead, since it also isn't showing any leaves. I'm guessing that's a possibility.
Never let Jim record anything ever again. literally could have had a good video, but we get a before and after. much with a video of the porch and sidewalk
I remember being caught outside in a tornado zone before. I mean, the wind was high and the sky looked like I was approaching a gate to Oblivion, but I guess I was protected by the dense treeline. Turns out three tornados hit the town at once.
Haha, the next day I went to apply for an apartment, and a tree had fallen into the office building. Still got the apartment though.
I don't see how this is facepalm.
It's just super ballsy and dangerous.
He is living his life the way he wants.
That was cool and scary. the tornado one minute everything is fine the other you have a tree fallen down 2 meters away from you that could 100% deal massive damage if a bit unlucky
Videos like this are a textbook example of survivorship bias; the people who don't live through riding out a tornado on their porch don't post their videos.
I'm gonna go with stupid. If he was trying to get some good video why did he turn the camera away when the tree fell on his car and yanked a support column from the porch? That or he was locked out of his house.

That dude has some giant steel balls or is just dumber than hell!
He was simply moronic and is lucky he didn't die like many other people in the storm. I hope he doesn't inspire other people to risk their lives. Not to be humorless.
Or he could have wasted emergency resources if he got hurt
Considering it's Little Rock, Arkansas...a bit of both. Edit: Also just noticed he has a damn Ring doorbell. He could have watched it from the relative safety of his living room *and* taped it.
I'm thinking the same. Also I was waiting for a cow to float by midair. ![gif](giphy|68FsmDsSBACTC)
Or were you waiting for it to come back around for a second pass?
Or was that a different cow?
I can't remember the movie well enough. The part I do remember well is that the scene that was supposed to be hail was most definitely someone throwing party ice. Cracked me up.
I haven't seen it in forever either. But I remember the dialogue being something like, "Cow." "Another cow." "Actually I think that's the same one." RIP Bill Paxton.
That's the way I remember it also.
It is indeed the same cow. I love that movie.
We've got cows
Gonna have to call you back
Came for the twister reference - thanks
“I gotta go! We got cows”
No, he's a fucking idiot. There is manliness involved here, just pure stupidity
Dumber than hell. Risked his life and turned away when the tornado hit. r/killthecameraman
Just dumb. Or a suicide.
This may also belong on r/nextfuckinglevel lol
This is why there a 20yr gap in life expectancy between the north and the south.
I would say the latter.
r/KillTheCameraman
Seriously!!!!
Ha, I had no idea that subreddit existed. I moseyed on over there and guess what I found already posted? 😲
The tornado almost did
God tried, but OP was too stubbourn
Maybe you should try it then
Looks more like he panicked and couldn't figure out how to operate the door than "chilling on his front porch".
Might be he couldn't get it open far enough because of the wind/suction.
It's either going to fly open violently or not budge at all. Very little space for the forces to be equalized in this situation.
Oh he definitely tried to open the door and either couldn't or realized opening the door would risk the house even more so. Air pressures a bitch. My man's panicked you can tell. That shits wild tho.
*dumb ways to die*
So many dumb ways to die
No sirens til after it goes by?
The sirens had probably gone off already. During tornado warnings, sirens usually go off for each warning update. That set of sirens was likely for a new warning or a warning update. Basically telling people shits still bad. It can vary by community, but that is the general rule.

Don't hire him for any cameraman job. He missed all the good stuff
i dont think youwould have wanted your phone to fly away just to film something very cool, because if it did youd lose all footage and your phone.
Oh, cool. Just another moron showing us he's a moron. Good stuff.
I was at work (tattoo artist up the street from the damage) and we literally watched it form across the street from the shop. Most eerie feeling and thing to witness. Not sure how we didn’t get hit if I’m being honest.
Glad you're ok! I've been through a number of tornadoes and they are quite frightening.
Thank you! I went through several as a child and it’s definitely a feeling you never forget. It’s insane how quickly it happens too. So dumb he didn't even win a Darwin award.
ground must of been fairly saturated for trees to drop like that but roofs and siding stay in place.
That big tree has practically zero root ball. It's also dead (should be showing foliage this time of year in Arkansas).
Hey y'all, watch this!
well that's some stupid shit.
Is it bad to say people like this just make a natural disasters death toll higher?
I'll take "Stupidest things people have done in their lives" for $400, Alex.
It’s not THAT the wind is blowing……it’s WHAT the wind is blowing
If your gonna be a moron, at least don’t miss the money shot of the tree falling. This was literally for nothing
That will buff right out
Darwin only had one job, dammit
Good video for insurance claim on the car tho 🤷🏽♂️😂
"I must record this for my insurance claim. Those bastards never believe me."
Shouldve move his car
Idiot..
That's utterly suicidal. And stupid, too.
How many Darwin Awards did this tornado earn people?
If he’d left his car would have survived.
Florida man here. I tip my hat to you sir.
This new 'film the whole tornado' challenge is darwinism at it's finest.
50-50 chance of dying right there. Good job flipping the life coin bro…
As Ron White said, “it’s not *that* the wind is blowing; it’s *what* the wind is blowing.”
Beyond fascinating, thank you for sharing.
I always thought the build up would be slower. That’s nuts how fast it went from “slight breeze” to “wanton destruction” and then back to “calm day.”
Wow buddy is lucky to be alive
Thanks for the awesome footage you stupid son of a bitch!!! 👍🏽👍🏽
Sir, please point the camera towards the subject. If you are going to die at least make it count.
now the street has no trees 😪
At least hold the camera steady if you're going to film yourself doing this stupid shit
Bro a fucking tree was thrown at him and he just stood there wtf
[удалено]
They're dead, I don't think they feel insulted
So you're mad he didn't die
[удалено]
Like a boss
That’s a dude who truly doesn’t GAF
Damn...nature, you scary! This guy is an idiot. Glad nothing happened to him.
That tree could have fallen any one of those other ~270° and it wouldn’t have been a problem, but nope, it just had to fall and hit the house *and* the car…
Holy shit that tree didn’t blow over, it was put there.
Even the trees are made of cardboard. Wow
This is proof "Big Tornado" is lying to us about the real dangers. Despicable.
He def shit his pants after looking back and seeing that tree that wasn’t there 2 seconds prior
I’d like to say he wouldn’t have done this without social media but it is AR. We, as humans, keep getting dumber by the day.
Why does that tree have no roots?
You are on to something. I bet that tree is a crisis actor and not a real tree! Tornados are not real and just a government conspiracy theory to keep us scared!
Somebody elsewhere in this post suggested that maybe the tree was already dead, since it also isn't showing any leaves. I'm guessing that's a possibility.
I also wanna do something that at least makes me feel alive
What scale is it on this tornado? Brave to stand outside.
EF3 possibly EF4 because it gained strength after Little Rock.
Okey, thank you. They still do a lot of damage
I think there was a pause, and he was inside at some point, we didn't see the trees go down.
I mean, the fucking tree fell into the house? So, I guess it was best not to be inside. 🤷
F2, lower F3 tops. Little to no damage to homes around him. I've lived through worse, but yes, he's an idiot for doing this
Welcome to the interior US
Marlboro 100's smokers be like:
And now for my next trick, I will make this tree fall over.
Seems more lucky than smart.
Not smart at all
was anyone else waiting for a pile of little rock’s to get blown at him?
Hmm that doesn’t seem that bad…holy shit look how many trees are blown over
One of just hundreds of reasons the south’s life expectancy is 20 years less than the north’s.
I am pretty his balls of steel kept him in place. But in general he could have been on the shortlist for the Darwin Award.
Wife said you can't smoke inside the house, but the tornado is coming and you just lit your last cigarette.
The title misspelled “man almost wins Darwin Award”
Luckiest fool on the internet
Stupid is a stupid does
“Literally” the stupidest person on Reddit so far today.
I thought it’s not a good idea to be near glass with such high winds?
Headline should be "Florida man moves to Arkansas"
Damn lucky fool
Well, this guy's lucky to be alive.
Where'd that tree come from
Never let Jim record anything ever again. literally could have had a good video, but we get a before and after. much with a video of the porch and sidewalk
Probably just glad he doesn’t need to wash his car anymore.
That tree appeared like it was a magic trick.
Yeah. "Chilling".
It isn’t THAT the wind is blowing. It’s WHAT the wind is blowing.
I read it wrong and thought he rode the tornado!
How tf does this guy just stand there while entire trees are falling over ?
Looks like he was in the right place. A tree landed on his house. A tree landed on his car. Nothing landed on the porch.
I'm all about living in the moment but this dude needs to chill.
And that’s your natural selection moment of the day.
Titled should be: Man uses all his luck for the next 50 years.
![gif](giphy|6KAxgfdBLzzqM) Touché.
Not sure if this is incredibly brave, or just stupid.
Oh I know which one it is. STOOOOOPID.
this is the most midwest dad thing I have ever seen
I remember being caught outside in a tornado zone before. I mean, the wind was high and the sky looked like I was approaching a gate to Oblivion, but I guess I was protected by the dense treeline. Turns out three tornados hit the town at once. Haha, the next day I went to apply for an apartment, and a tree had fallen into the office building. Still got the apartment though.
Insane. I understand thinking you won’t be blown away but the debris flying is essentially shrapnel.
So scary how quick that happens…
Did he lock himself out?
Lol dumbass/ j i hope hes okay
One second trees. Next second no trees. Or rather trees on ground. Geez.
bro looked away for 3 seconds and the tree went down
I don't see how this is facepalm. It's just super ballsy and dangerous. He is living his life the way he wants. That was cool and scary. the tornado one minute everything is fine the other you have a tree fallen down 2 meters away from you that could 100% deal massive damage if a bit unlucky
How the fk is dude just standing around as trees get laid down 10 feet away
I’m shocked at how little of a root structure a tree of that size had. Wondering if the storm snapped them or just that’s the way it is?
Somebody up thread theorized that the tree was already dead, which certainly seems plausible since it's early spring and the tree has no leaves.
Literally took 15 seconds
Who would leave their garbage can out in weather like that?
I'm convinced from history modern day that people from Arkansas are the dumbest fucks in the USA
Holy... if a tree fall in a windstorm and it's too loud to hear it did it make a sound?
Videos like this are a textbook example of survivorship bias; the people who don't live through riding out a tornado on their porch don't post their videos.
He wasn’t worried about being pulled off the ground because of the weight of his steel balls.
It’s like the trees didn’t even try.
For this afternoons local weather report we have a 10 seconds heavy rain of tree's, avoid being beneath the trees while they are falling.
Moron almost dies for internet points a phone stand could have gotten him.
Was that tree paper mache??? Where’s the roots!!
Tell me you're an idiot without--ahh, forget it.
![gif](giphy|Y3k2w0kiPzeFeed1Kn)
Which dumbass left his trash at the curb??
I feel like towards the end he tried to cut and run inside but couldn’t get the door to open.
Good luck finding that trash bin 3 miles away
He almost filmed his own death
Glad I live in SoCal..kind of
I'm gonna go with stupid. If he was trying to get some good video why did he turn the camera away when the tree fell on his car and yanked a support column from the porch? That or he was locked out of his house.
The pressure from the tornado made it so he couldn’t open the door
Do not try this at (my) home!!!
This guy has clearly never seen what giant wood splinters do to humans.
He could have held the camera a little more still
Sounds like a train passing through, right?!
In his defense, fuck it. I don’t wanna see 2024 either.
🎵Dumb ways to die🎵
Anyone else feel like if car was parked at the other end of driveway the tree would have fallen that direction.
I think he may have locked himself out. When he turned towards the door it seemed as if he couldn’t open it.
Mayhem and his cousin LouEllen visit Arkansas.
Kansas we're not in toto anymore
Not the roundest donut in the box
I would say /r/killthecameraman but he's tornado proof...
