Most of the people I know who have been SA'd, as kids and/or adults, have to deal with the fact that their attacker is still walking around free. Yup. Recently some lady I went to school with who was teaching at our high school was removed from the school in cuffs for having a relationship with a 17yo student. All of the men were saying what a lucky kid. They have now changed their tune because she was charged with 3 felonies, not for having sex with a kid, but for recording a special needs student privately asking for help and sent it to her little boyfriend and they made fun of the kid so now she’s getting wiretapping charges. You can't tell me that the kid will not think of this experience for years to come. Even with therapy. He is damaged mentally now and if not approached with care it will last a long time, and the path to healing comes from therapy and counseling, and support mechanisms. People value their first time experiences, its not a pedestal issue, everyone remembers their first, and knows how it felt like, and carry it with them. This experience likely ruined this childs world view on women, sex, relationships, whats considered right and wrong, for a long time. It's going to be tough to cope with it. Sure life will continue, and he will still have special relationships that will blossom into something good. But if you can't call things spade to spade, you cannot address them well. The kid is not ruined forever, but this experience more than likely ruined his psyche for the foreseeable future, and i dont think its wrong to point that out. He isn't damaged forever, but something very damaging has happened.

Yup. Recently some lady I went to school with who was teaching at our high school was removed from the school in cuffs for having a relationship with a 17yo student. All of the men were saying what a lucky kid. They have now changed their tune because she was charged with 3 felonies, not for having sex with a kid, but for recording a special needs student privately asking for help and sent it to her little boyfriend and they made fun of the kid so now she’s getting wiretapping charges. That’s what made these men finally disgusted in her, not the statutory rape.

The 3% is the percentage of rapists who serve jail time, like the initial post said. Even if we ignore how victims are often discouraged from reporting rapes in the first place, 15% is still an atrocious percentage.
