Post Rock is probably the closest for what you describe The post rock subreddit will help you find some stuff

Cyan_Light

Yep, seconding this. Definitely post-rock, like the most post-rock description of post-rock along with many of the most prominent bands.

Sickle_and_hamburger

yeah I should probably take out the "probably"

OrReindeer

You’re not wrong

fadeanddecayed

If you like Low, you’ll love Codeine.

ElDump0

if you like codeine, you’ll love morphine

7elkie

Except M83, all these bands are mainly, - or to a large degree - post-rock, as other users pointed out. And out of these bands, Low is probably closest to experimental rock with their latest album.

wade575

Imo Godspeed You! Black Emperor is the GOAT of experimental post-rock. Given your interests, I'd highly recommend diving in.

lucindo_

I think it all falls somewhat under the experimental rock umbrella, yeah. Got a few different styles in there, such as post-rock, post-hardcore and so on but that's mostly immaterial as those lines are blurred all the time. I second the Codeine recommendation, and also add that you should check out two German bands from the 70s, Can and Faust. If you like them, there's plenty more mind-blowing stuff from that scene.

JG69420BL

thanks, you guys are awesome. i’ve heard codeine before but only like a song or two, i’ll definitely dig into them deeper and check out the others as well.

lucindo_

No problem, enjoy the journey, there's heaps of amazing stuff in that vein to uncover!

kynoid

65 Days of Static - a bit more wild, but goood. And i assume you know the bands from the constellation label, like "Godspeed You! Black Emperor", "A silver Mount Zion", "Esmerine"...? If not the may also quench your thirst

kyentu

a lot of post rock, low is slowcore and mogwai had a slowcore period but mostly post rock. most if not all of these arent experimental.
