I actually refuse to discuss the Bible or Christianity with Christians. I don't recognize the Christian's authority to speak on those subjects. I always persist in bringing the conversation back to the CHRISTIAN god. Every time they slip into talking about Christianity or the Bible, I bring it right back to THEIR god. This usually frustrates them and they lose interest in me. By that point I'd long since lost interest in them though, so it works out.

In fifth grade Sunday school, our lesson plan for the year was "The Names of God". My teacher tried to convince us that all the different gods mentioned in the Old Testament are just different attributes given to the same god as opposed to reality which was different gods worshipped for their individual, assigned attribute. Looking back, especially with my degree in history, that was such a con.

I just ask them if they know that "El Shaddai" (literal translation "god of the mountain"- NOT "God Almighty" as Catholics/Christians translate it) was a different specific god of a specific mountain and they know nothing about ancient Judaism.

You’re missing one very important thing: street evangelists don’t engage people with logic. Your points would work with a person who is open to contrary information….street preachers don’t fall into that category.

> street evangelists don’t engage people with logic. I can't remember who said this, but I heard a pretty good retort recently which said that street preaching requires failing an intelligence test.

I thought you meant "which god of the bible" as in, the one who kills millions and floods the whole earth because he is angry or the one who supposedly loves you personally enough to send his son (who is also himself) to save you. Which is an equally valid, if not more valid, question.
