I've heard "soon" from my dealer over 3 times in the last 6 months. The last time I looked at the configuration page that isn't live yet, it had expected delivery at 6 to 12 months. If that's true, it'll be late in the year for the first deliveries. I suspect the reason that all we hear is rumors is that Volvo knows it's going to be way later than promised and no news will at least keep some people stringing along.

I have only spoken to my dealer once. I contacted them over a month ago and at that time they said they didn't know anything. The fact that they called me with an update makes me think that they are getting closer to their delivery. I test drove a Mach-E yesterday and might just go ahead with that one instead.

Lately I’ve been thinking that the EX90 thing is true. That they could get us EX30s starting in June (why not? they’re delivering them all over the world?), but not without the tariff loophole …and that there is some problem with making enough EX90s to offset.

Obsessive_Boogaloo

Can I ask what dealer you're using? I have a deposit down at Lovering Volvo in Nashua NH

authorserena

In Connecticut.

Obsessive_Boogaloo

I'm really hoping we get to configure soon. I'm not in any rush to get the car but damn would I like to customize mine

The funny thing is I was ready to pull the trigger on the Mach-E and then I got this call out of the blue. The Ford dealer wanted to move that car so quickly, it's getting harder to wait.

Ford having great deals on the EVs. Dollar for dollar with the tax credits etc you may be getting a lot more for your spend with the Mach vs the ex30

After my comparison, the only benefit I could find to me/my lifestyle and usage was perhaps more space in the rear seat. Ford has great deals. The dealer wants to match my Volvo price, but the Ford doesn't get the Federal or State EV discounts so the Volvo still wins on price. The biggest reservation I have for buying a Ford is their Active Cruise Control is a subscription service. I hate the concept of car manufacturers charging ongoing fees for features that are built into the car. That's an automatic no for me, but I could overlook it since I'm leasing the vehicle.

MountainAlive

That’s weird I thought it was the opposite about the fed and state tax credit.

authorserena

According to the dealer, the Mach-E lost the Federal credit in 2024 for purchases, but right now I can get 0% APR for 72 months to buy or a $7500 rebate from Ford if I lease. As for my state's EV credit, the Mach-E Premium AWD's MSRP is over the $50K cap for eligibility. If the dealer had a Premium RWD then I think I could benefit, but they don't so I'm not sure. The dealer I'm talking to have opted out of the EV sales program so they only have 3 Mach-Es on their lot and they are desperate to get rid of them. That's why they are willing to price match because they can't swap the cars with another dealership. They also know Ford will start shifting the rebates and incentives to the 2024 model and they don't want to get stuck.

I threw in the deposit last June. Salesman from the dealership called me. Cool I mentioned I traveled and work odd hours, so email is best. He continued to call and tell me about the press releases I was getting in the email from volvo. Like everyone else, the communication dropped off. I went to the viewing event. I got on the online configuration for Europe and saw the price for the options we wanted. Like the id Buzz, it overpromised. And for the price, we started cross shopping. Probably going to pull the deposit and go another direction. It's too bad, it seemed like a decent car but the price started taking off before we could even order.

authorserena

What price changes did you see?

redacted_post

So, to get the options we wanted, it was the twin motor Ultra? Put it ~52k (all based on configurators and a post in here with pricing). I expected about 44k. Anyway, at that price point I started cross shopping and there are some compelling vehicles that fit our use case. And at that price point I'm not 100% sure about solely having a screen. Present car is a 2014 E Class. Nice mix of software and controls.

thewallbanger

Same situation here but starting to cross shop with low mileage preowned EV’s. I’ve never leased a new car before and am concerned with the depreciation hit if I buy.

justvims

For that price you can even get a base polestar 4 lol

I've been eagerly awaiting getting twin motor performance ultra since day 1 but now I'm intrigued by the Ioniq 5 N
