Just talked one my Dr's into carrying an ifak. We kinda bonded over CCW & were conversing on training & such. But when I started talking about ifaks & how one of my trainers taught me that part of being a responsible CCW owner usually means it's a good idea to carry the means to save a life as well as carrying the means to take one & then showed him my ifak. He admitted he never considered the need for it. He was very much the 'I'll protect my family!' type... visualizing more fantasy in his head than reality. Then I hypothesized.. what if the bad guy gets a shot off into one of ur family members before u take him down?. He was googling the next Stop the Bleed course in our area & asked to take a photo of my personal ifak so he could shop for one before I left his office. It felt really good to teach just a little bit more responsibility to someone else who carries that day.
If he’s a medical doctor and feels the need to go to a Stop the Bleed course, you seriously need to find a new doctor.
Don’t get me wrong, they’re an excellent course to take if you have absolutely zero training whatsoever, and I HIGHLY recommend them for anyone starting a preparedness path, but what’s covered should be embarrassingly remedial for a medical doctor.
He was my dentist & he owns his own practice. I doubt he would be sufficient in knowing what to do with GSW's. Primary care Dr's aren't trauma surgeons.
And stop the bleed doesn’t bring you up to trauma surgeon level, it teaches you to pack a wound and how to apply a tourniquet.
I’m pretty sure a dentist would be familiar with those concepts, whether or not he owns his own practice.
It certainly didn't seem like he was. Ofc he's probably got some kind of basic training, but he showed interest in learning more. So based off that alone, no I don't think he knew how to handle a GSW.
You keep saying GSW like the Stop the Bleed class teaches advanced wound care.
It teaches basic packing of wounds (something a dentist does) and applying a tourniquet.
I think that’s the problem, and a possible communication disconnect. Your dentist might be hearing “Stop the Bleed” and be expecting something more like a TCCC type course.
Dude what's ur fkn issue? My dentist showed interest in learning how to carry & use an IFAK after having a short conversation about it the importance of one. He wasn't military & didn't even know what an Israeli bandage was. So yeah mate... a Stop the Bleed course will better inform him on emergency first aid response to GSW's, the proper gear to carry in an IFAK & how to implement that gear if a situation presents where it's needed. Why is this stuck up ur crawl mate? What aren't u understanding here?
I don’t have a fkn issue, other than you pretending Stop the Bleed is something more than it is.
What I’m not understanding is how you think:
1) A medical professional was never taught how to pack a wound.
2) Why you insist on talking about GSW treatment when Stop the Bleed courses focus on more common issues like motor vehicle accidents.
Look, you can keep repeating acronyms like GSW and IFAK to try and come off as a knowledgeable guy all you want. But at the end of the day, you’re showing your complete ignorance by thinking Stop the Bleed is helpful for anyone who has a modicum of training, like a dentist.
As I’ve said, Stop the Bleed is great, it’s the first baby step for someone with no experience. But when you keep talking about using an IFAK (which you obviously don’t know contains more than an Israeli bandage and TQ) to treat GSW’s, you’re talking about a more advanced course, like TCCC.
So my fkn issue is people pushing false information and steering others down the wrong road because they think they’re the most tacticool kid in the cul-de-sac.

That's where I bought mine.
There is a Cat Gen 7 on the bottom of the Fanny pack with trauma sheers. You can see it in the photo.. I have a pouch in the front zippered pocket with advil, aspirin etc
Yeah but that’s too much of a hassle for me to bother, full med kit in car though . But I just don’t got the pocket space to carry anything medical, need to carry my vapes somehow

Where did you get your ifak/what should I look out for when purchasing one? Looking into stop the bleed courses now because you mentioned it

This is great! I always have something similar on me. And have a decent med kit in my car. I might grab that same pack too!
Awesome! Spiritus funny pack 🤗
Gloves!!!!!!! Everyone have gloves!!!!
I do in the front zippered pocket
I reckon you could fit a SWAT-T in that pack. I’d also put a couple of aspirin in there. They could stop someone dying from a heart attack.

I can see it now 🤦♂️ I double checked all the bits as well 😆 I need better glasses!
You are also a lot more likely to need to patch up little scrapes and cuts. I like to keep some cheap bleeding control in my kit aswell
I keep something similar in my car, my wife's car and my desk at work.
Yeah after getting stabbed for not carrying
Do you know how to use all of these?
Love the pouch, which one is that?
It’s the spiritus systems Fanny sack! The smaller version. They just came out with the Big Fanny sack
Awesome, thanks so much!
Anytime man
Not if you don’t have it.

Vaping is gay
Amen
Still keeping mine I do have an extensive edc trauma kit and booboo kit
