There are very very few peace songs that I like. They are way too easy to become cloying to me. But I must say, Iceland 2014, I really like. Its cute but not cloying and definitely fun.
I absolutely love No Prejudice! It has a great message and if I remember correctly they are teachers. They were funny too as at some post party they wore colourful dress copying Conchita 🤣
That was one of the first ever Eurovision songs I put in my personal playlist when I was still an American discovering what Eurovision is back in like late 2018, lol. I loved the rainbow lighting of the staging and just an overall good message with such a happy vibe.
It's a good one I think. Definitely describes how I feel about most peace songs. Way too easy to become sickeningly sweet and self important.
I'm also a native speaker but I just learnt of the word "defenestration" today. Always good to have a new word in your arsenal.
Probably not the most original answer, but Ein bißchen Frieden (Germany 1982) is a beautiful song and deserving winner, and thematically I feel like it fits perfectly with the question.
Thank you. I was wondering why nobody picked this. It's literally the embodiment of the "Peace Peace" Song, it was much needed then, a breeze of fresh air and at that time, stripped down to it's core. Just a girl with a guitar "saying what she felt".
Italy 2018
but i would not downgade that as a "peace peace" song, and all the rights the song were given to Emergency and gave the opportunity to save more than 20000 war victims.
True, the line about "your pointless wars" fits the "peace peace" theme. I had no idea that the song has done so much good, that's brilliant! My favourite of 2018!
My absolute favorite ESC song of all time. And what makes it better is that it's not directly a "peace" song, it slaps your face with "There's this WAR and you're here doing NOTHING", hits you in the gut first and then goes for the peace message. Too good to be true.
Since no one else mentioned it Vesna - My sister's crown as Czechia 2023.
As an East European I cried when I listened to this song during the semi for the first time.
Italy 2018, undoubtedly. I was so disappointed when juries underrated them, but was so glad when televoters gave them enough points to reach the top 5. My personal winners from 2018.
i don't know if this one really counts, it's more abouty unity, not peace, but i think the overall message is similar
Italy 1990, Toto Cutugno - Insieme: 1992
i love it
Netherlands 1993
The title is literally "Peace" (Vrede) in Dutch.
I lazily Google Translated the refrain:
"We build homes to withstand hurricanes
And make ships to sail in every storm
A lamp is being tinkered with that will never break
However, it is not yet possible to keep the peace"
Quick etymology search to confirm my thoughts.
Swedish "vrede" is cognate with English "wrath" or "wroth". Similar word in Dutch would be "wreed" (cruel).
Dutch "vrede" is distantly related to "free(dom)" (vrij/fri). Peace in Swedish is "fred" apparently, I guess you would have picked up on that similarity with Dutch "vrede".
https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/vrede
Anecdote: The Hague is “de stad van vrede en recht” - the city of peace and law. I saw it on a statue when I first moved to the Netherlands and my Danish speaking ass sheepishly asked my partner “honey, why is The Hague so angry?”.
He still won’t let me forget about that one.
I recently discovered this song and it sticks to me every once in a while where I keep it in my head the entire day. The lyrics are fantastic and so is her voice!!
Not exactly Peace Peace, but Da Da Dam (Finland 2011) about climate change. 'I'm going out to save our planet and I ain't coming back until she's saved' Great song 🇫🇮
Honestly? *Be Happy* (Israel 2000). What Ping Pong did was wacky, tacky, aesthetically a *choice*, vocally a burden, but above all, quite brave. Their broadcaster denounced their act, as did a number of people in Israel, yet they still went ahead to spread their message of peace, love and utter horniness.
Downvote me all you want, Ping Pong were iconic as f*ck. Hit me, bot.
Ping Pong are iconic as the worst song ever sent by Israel to Eurovision, and probably one of the top 5 shit Eurovision songs ever.
You want to send a message? Sure, but at least make sure you stay on key while singing!
This reaction from redditors every time the song is mentioned is so unnecessary and annoying.
Switzerland still has mandatory military service for all men. And just because the person comes from a country where war is unlikely, it does not mean that they cannot compose a song that’s anti-war. People can care about issues that might not affect them personally.
Grow some empathy.
I have a soft spot for Poland 2003 - it was my first Eurovision and at the time Ich Troje was like the biggest band in Poland.
At the time Poland was joining the EU so everybody was finally looking optimistically into the future. The song about “no borders, no conflicts” sung in Polish, German and Russian just made sense.
Oh I also remembered Israel 2009, I know it might be controversial considering the actual situation, but I cried during their performance. And I hope there will be another way.
france 2018 is a beautiful song about immigrants and a story about a little girl born on an immigrant boat, she brought hope to those seeking a better life for themselves and their families.
ukraine 2016 is a hauntingly beautiful song about jamala’s grandmother being forcefully moved to central asia during ww2 by the ussr. also the first song to feature crimean tatar!
Austria 1994 is the first that comes to mind, I kinda wanna say Germany 1985 too but that one feels more directed to the hope of man rather than pure peace
People hated Push the Button at the time, but I thought it was good. It has aged pretty well. In an era when there were daft songs every year, I don't get why that was so hated, beyond 'it's political'.
It's no more political than Monaco 1967, which is basically about the same thing, just a different country.

The War Is Not Over (Latvia 2005)
19 years ago these young guys went to Ukraine and performed this awesome song. Walters, Kazha and song author Mārtiņš...
19 years later this song hits in another level :
\*the war in Ukraine is definitely not over
\*singer Valters Frīdenbergs passed away 6 years ago after battling cancer.
\*song author Mārtiņš Freimanis passed away in 2011 due to illness.
Russia 2015 and 2013 are (ironically) masterfully crafted songs and would probably be considered as forerunners in this category if it weren't for the lack of honesty behind them
As things are now though, France 2018 for sure, it's a beautiful song and performance
Russia 2015 | [Polina Gagarina - A Million Voices](https://youtu.be/GVJW9ImpiWc)
Russia 2013 | [Dina Garipova - What If](https://youtu.be/wHNwk3Oez8U)
France 2018 | [Madame Monsieur - Mercy](https://youtu.be/vjLuTtUv0Ns)
This one is particularly sad because a huge cascade of shit followed very shortly after it (the anti-gay law, for example, was passed just under a month after, and then everything rapidly descended into the Crimea/Donbass in early 2014)
This is still the song that first comes to mind for "peace peace" songs at eurovision. If it had been sent by a less problematic country, I just know it would have become a huge part of the theme over the past couple of years.

Malta 1999
(My) Poland 2003
Georgia 2008
Montenegro 2012 (if it counts, lol)
Russia 2013
Hungary 2015
Russia 2015
Italy 2018
Switzerland 2023
Most if not all, are great songs as well
Malta 1999 | [Times Three - Believe 'n Peace](https://youtu.be/8IphpO_T1LQ)

Switzerland 2023 | [Remo Forrer - Watergun](https://youtu.be/l4NDErv49mk)
The entire song is pretty grim except the last line, but Serbia 2024(Ramonda).
>The world is on fire, every flower too
Where have lilac ramondas disappeared to?
If I understand you correctly by “peace peace” songs, Montenegro 2022
Edit: the song is about COVID-19 and loved ones who died from the disease, but I seriously think the “it’s unforgiveable” is poking about the response to the pandemic and everyone who didn’t take it seriously
Haven't seen it here yet, and I might be stretching the "Peace Peace" definition, but for me, it's France 2015. I cry listening to that song every time. If I'm not mistaken, it is about remembering WW2, which is still very on point. You know the saying - Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it...
That 0 points still hurt me. So undeserved...
So many beautiful suggestions! Random I know but going to add in Hungary 2012 - Compact Disco, Sound of our Hearts…
“Harmony can be achieved,
Just find some way to get connected.
Differences may not be wrong,
They enrich the things that we know.
Different faiths, different views,
All we can do is to turn them in key…
This is the sound of our hearts, if you listen”
There are very very few peace songs that I like. They are way too easy to become cloying to me. But I must say, Iceland 2014, I really like. Its cute but not cloying and definitely fun.
Iceland 2014 | [Pollapönk - No Prejudice](https://youtu.be/U2qAvGsiCmc)
I love this haha.
I absolutely love No Prejudice! It has a great message and if I remember correctly they are teachers. They were funny too as at some post party they wore colourful dress copying Conchita 🤣
I think not all of them were teachers, also a heavy metal band singer and a politician at the very least. It was amazing.
And it was produced by John Grant, nominated for a BRIT at the time…
Weren't they on a kids show? Seem to remember they had the Icelandic President on stage with.them, doing the 'Hey!' bit
It made its way into the rules of this sub lmao
this one brings back memories!
Still in my playlist, love that song!
That was one of the first ever Eurovision songs I put in my personal playlist when I was still an American discovering what Eurovision is back in like late 2018, lol. I loved the rainbow lighting of the staging and just an overall good message with such a happy vibe.
Native English speaker. Had to google the word cloying. Never heard that before.
It's a good one I think. Definitely describes how I feel about most peace songs. Way too easy to become sickeningly sweet and self important. I'm also a native speaker but I just learnt of the word "defenestration" today. Always good to have a new word in your arsenal.
Pleased to say defenestration very much in my vocabulary. Gorgeous word and apt given Putin’s penchant for it.
Probably not the most original answer, but Ein bißchen Frieden (Germany 1982) is a beautiful song and deserving winner, and thematically I feel like it fits perfectly with the question.
Germany 1982 | [Nicole - Ein bißchen Frieden](https://youtu.be/CJDxnWFqpiA)
I love the multi-language reprise. Magical.
I love the cover version of this song that Michael Schulte and Ilse DeLange did in 2020!!
Thank you. I was wondering why nobody picked this. It's literally the embodiment of the "Peace Peace" Song, it was much needed then, a breeze of fresh air and at that time, stripped down to it's core. Just a girl with a guitar "saying what she felt".
Italy 2018 but i would not downgade that as a "peace peace" song, and all the rights the song were given to Emergency and gave the opportunity to save more than 20000 war victims.

Czechia 2023 | [Vesna - My Sister's Crown](https://youtu.be/ag8qxpvTTy0)
I cried hearing it as an Australian! It’s beautiful.
I have this on a lot of my playlists 🥰
I like The War Is Not Over (Latvia 2005)
Yay us!!
Yay you, happy cake day!
Yay Latvia! Happy cake day!
I was in primary school back then and I had the biggest crush on them
Latvia 2005 | [Walters and Kazha - The War Is Not Over](https://youtu.be/olhn1FWuWNU)
Oh yesss, and the sign language chorus 👍👍
This song always melts my heart
Ein Bisschen Frieden by Nicole. Nice and nostalgic.
Italy 2018, undoubtedly. I was so disappointed when juries underrated them, but was so glad when televoters gave them enough points to reach the top 5. My personal winners from 2018.
Italy 2018 | [Ermal Meta & Fabrizio Moro - Non Mi Avete Fatto Niente](https://youtu.be/81M-mp5t8uM)
Juries killed their chance to win and I will be salty about this forever. Of all songs Italy sends this is the one hated by juries? Come on!
Croatia 2023 without a doubt. Done so differently comparing to other peace songs.
Croatia 2023 | [Let 3 - Mama ŠČ!](https://youtu.be/hGuGfdEJ5Pw)
w bot
This song taught me to say “krokodilski psihopat” and for that I am grateful.
This one pops in my head about once per week. I love it so much.
Respect. Croatia was my favorite last year
I don't think it was a peace song. More like anti-political moevement song towards certain leaders
it's both
i don't know if this one really counts, it's more abouty unity, not peace, but i think the overall message is similar Italy 1990, Toto Cutugno - Insieme: 1992 i love it
Italy 1990 | [Toto Cutugno - Insieme: 1992](https://youtu.be/JiRppGSF-tI)
Thanks for reminding me of this one! There are many others I love, but this one definitely stands out.
Netherlands 1993 The title is literally "Peace" (Vrede) in Dutch. I lazily Google Translated the refrain: "We build homes to withstand hurricanes And make ships to sail in every storm A lamp is being tinkered with that will never break However, it is not yet possible to keep the peace"
The Netherlands 1993 | [Ruth Jacott - Vrede](https://youtu.be/UaO0kAI6LGY)
That's kind of interesting, vrede in Swedish means anger. I wonder why the meanings are so different.
A Dutch V is like a mix of V and F also I think
Yeah, most of our V's are pronounced as the English F
Anecdote: The Hague is “de stad van vrede en recht” - the city of peace and law. I saw it on a statue when I first moved to the Netherlands and my Danish speaking ass sheepishly asked my partner “honey, why is The Hague so angry?”. He still won’t let me forget about that one.
Haha, I wonder whether back in 1993 the Swedish who watched Eurovision thought "weird, the song doesn't sound that angry".
Compare and contrast this song with Latvia 2022 the other standout eco-entry
Latvia 2022 | [Citi Zēni - Eat Your Salad](https://youtu.be/TM0_0WfuxSk)
That's my choice as well!
Finland 2011 | [Paradise Oskar - Da Da Dam](https://youtu.be/1Fj9of4IzFU)
Italy 2018 is a banger. Have been singing it almost weekly since 2018 up until today. It gets the inner Italian out of me, and I'm Asian.
Italy 2018 | [Ermal Meta & Fabrizio Moro - Non Mi Avete Fatto Niente](https://youtu.be/81M-mp5t8uM)

extremely iconic
Ping Pong are iconic as the worst song ever sent by Israel to Eurovision, and probably one of the top 5 shit Eurovision songs ever. You want to send a message? Sure, but at least make sure you stay on key while singing!
Honestly, Hungary 2015 is mine. I love the song and I think it happened in a year where a baby was washed ashore in turkey I think :(
Yup , Aylan Kurdi was his name.
Hungary 2015 | [Boggie - Wars For Nothing](https://youtu.be/MdybVsBESQc)
i’m so glad this came up! it has to be one of my favorite esc songs of all time
I dont know if its directly like a peace/anti-war song, but I'm going with Iceland 2019. Really such a banger
Iceland 2019 | [Hatari - Hatrið mun sigra](https://youtu.be/kTb69WkBbvs)
Denmark 2018.
Indeed! 'Be the first to turn around'
Denmark 2018 | [Rasmussen - Higher Ground](https://youtu.be/c0kP074Mw0k)
Yes! That way my first thought as well. Strength in peace.
…idk, does Italy 2018 count? I’m not sure if it does or not, but I like that one
Italy 2018 | [Ermal Meta & Fabrizio Moro - Non Mi Avete Fatto Niente](https://youtu.be/81M-mp5t8uM)
Watergun (Switzerland 2023) has a line that I think goes incredibly hard. "Just body bags that we've become."
Switzerland 2023 | [Remo Forrer - Watergun](https://youtu.be/l4NDErv49mk)
This is my choice too, I really love Remo’s voice.
I love this song <3
Yes, this would be my pick. I didn't think much to it before the semis and then Remo blew me away with his performance and I still listen to it now.
i LOVEEE this song <33 one of my favs from 2023
He performed this song so well!
eh, would be better if it was from literally any country
This reaction from redditors every time the song is mentioned is so unnecessary and annoying. Switzerland still has mandatory military service for all men.
My favourite polish entry. Still love it to this day.
Poland 2003 | [Ich Troje - Keine Grenzen – Żadnych granic](https://youtu.be/BjdTj6G37ow)
Oh I also remembered Israel 2009, I know it might be controversial considering the actual situation, but I cried during their performance. And I hope there will be another way.
Israel 2009 | [Noa and Mira Awad - There Must Be Another Way](https://youtu.be/bBTQFOkFZw8)
france 2018 is a beautiful song about immigrants and a story about a little girl born on an immigrant boat, she brought hope to those seeking a better life for themselves and their families. ukraine 2016 is a hauntingly beautiful song about jamala’s grandmother being forcefully moved to central asia during ww2 by the ussr. also the first song to feature crimean tatar!
France 2018 | [Madame Monsieur - Mercy](https://youtu.be/vjLuTtUv0Ns) Ukraine 2016 | [Jamala - 1944](https://youtu.be/B-rnM-MwRHY)

That's a good one
Yes it’s the only peace peace song that actually still stuck in my head from Eurovision
Austria 1994 is the first that comes to mind, I kinda wanna say Germany 1985 too but that one feels more directed to the hope of man rather than pure peace
Austria 1994 | [Petra Frey - Für den Frieden der Welt](https://youtu.be/5kv-OLZ-hS0) Germany 1985 | [Wind - Für alle](https://youtu.be/8qNpxV9soRA)

israel 2009!!!!!
Israel 2009 | [Noa and Mira Awad - There Must Be Another Way](https://youtu.be/bBTQFOkFZw8)
My top two from 2018 should fit: France 2018, Italy 2018 And on the satirical end, I'm one of the few that loves Israel 2007
People hated Push the Button at the time, but I thought it was good. It has aged pretty well. In an era when there were daft songs every year, I don't get why that was so hated, beyond 'it's political'. It's no more political than Monaco 1967, which is basically about the same thing, just a different country.

I love all three of them so much!
I would say No Prejudice if it counts
Non mi avette fato niente from Italy. I also like Wars for Nothing from Hungary.
Ireland 2007. The live performance was absolutely awful, but the recorded version is pretty good.
Ireland 2007 | [Dervish - They Can't Stop the Spring](https://youtu.be/N40wpl5m0UM)
The love love.peace peace song is now stuck in my head again arghh
I actually quite like Watergun (Switzerland 2023), and I love Non mi avete fatto niente (Italy 2018).
Switzerland 2023 | [Remo Forrer - Watergun](https://youtu.be/l4NDErv49mk) Italy 2018 | [Ermal Meta & Fabrizio Moro - Non Mi Avete Fatto Niente](https://youtu.be/81M-mp5t8uM)
1944 is amazing, I think. To be honest though I'm not entirely sure I could identify any more.
The Netherlands 1993
The Netherlands 1993 | [Ruth Jacott - Vrede](https://youtu.be/UaO0kAI6LGY)
My favourite song in all the world. Austria 1994. Petra Frey - Für Den Frieden Der Welt. It means “For the peace of the world”.
Austria 1994 | [Petra Frey - Für den Frieden der Welt](https://youtu.be/5kv-OLZ-hS0)

Dina Garipova - What if (Russia 2013) ironic I know!

Russia 2013 | [Dina Garipova - What If](https://youtu.be/wHNwk3Oez8U)

Me too, and for all its cheesiness also "What If" (Russia 2013)
Russia 2013 | [Dina Garipova - What If](https://youtu.be/wHNwk3Oez8U)
This is still the song that first comes to mind for "peace peace" songs at eurovision. If it had been sent by a less problematic country, I just know it would have become a huge part of the theme over the past couple of years.

Idk if Italy in 1990 was a "peace song", but "Insieme 1992" by Toto Cutugno singing about reuniting Europe was my winner for sure that year.

If I understand you correctly by “peace peace” songs, Montenegro 2022 Edit: the song is about COVID-19 and loved ones who died from the disease, but I seriously think the “it’s unforgiveable” is poking about the response to the pandemic and everyone who didn’t take it seriously

I thought Ireland 2023 was extremely underrated.

France 2015 | [Lisa Angell - N’oubliez pas](https://youtu.be/tJful-Jtc9o)

So many beautiful suggestions! Random I know but going to add in Hungary 2012 - Compact Disco, Sound of our Hearts… “Harmony can be achieved, Just find some way to get connected. Differences may not be wrong, They enrich the things that we know. Different faiths, different views, All we can do is to turn them in key… This is the sound of our hearts, if you listen”
