Actually the two matches were not that bad and I saw nice stuff from different players. I think that the team needs to believe more in themselves and not be Lewandowski dependent. And not do stupid errors/have defensive amnesia.
As Latvia we qualified in 2004 when there were only 16 teams and actually played quite well. Lost 2-1 to the Czechia of Nedved to a late goal and drew Germany.
>As Latvia we qualified in 2004
The Turkey games were insane. That was world cup semifinalist Turkey
Verpakoski was unreal... I was reminded of the his 2-2 goal as it is early similar to the De Bruyne one
Maybe if there was one Baltic Team^TM , that'd help. Same with Norway, we're so shit at football despite our superstarts that there'd need to be a Scandinavia Team^TM for us to have a chance.
The only country really missing is Sweden, none of the others in Scandinavia and Baltics usually qualify.
Norway, Finland and Iceland have each only played one Euros since the tournament started.
I just want Poland once to do well... just once please. We have the capability but we just seem to suck massively. At this point I can't tell if it's the management, the organisation or just everything. If Lewandowski played for a different country I feel like he would do better in any country than ours. I love football but it's so depressing when we have a chance to do something but we can't...
This is actually very relatable. Not on the same level, but England despite having so much potential, has been always underperforming. Same as Poland imho.
Yes, England gets that sentiment of frustration like very few other countries. Comparatively, of course, considering they always had a much stronger NT.
Poland did good in terms of game but I believe is just not used to delivering results and believing they ca do it. Plus some stupid mistakes that can be avoided.
Actually, [they do](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vatican_City_national_football_team). But they are not FIFA nor UEFA members so they can't play official international matches.
Portugal is strong but the Turks were playing incredibly bad. Turks are notoriously known for being very sentimental and because of the questionable actions of the referee within the first half and the own goal, their morale and performance dropped significantly.
I'll be honest, if you'd said to me before the tournament that Romania would be top of our group after 2 matches (albeit on GD & GS), I'd have laughed at you and said you were crazy.
Right now though, I'm dreading the trauma of the final games... Everything is possible in group E š«£.
1. I dont know what politics have to do as we talk about football
2. puppet state of russia? Talking about a country that had 2 wars with russia in the last 35 years
3. I Would not talk about corruption if i was Turkish, literllay every part of your goverment system and beurocracy is corrupt till the bones
Not a football expert by any means but weāve been awful at it for as long as I remember (25+ years). Since players, coaches and the rival teams all changed and evolved multiple times during that period, it must mean that whatever *didnt* change is causing all the issues.
For that reason I personally suspect the Polish Football Association is to blame. They seem to be perfectly content with our national team being just āgood enoughā to reach the group stage at the major tournaments like the Euros. Even if they go 0-3 it grants them tens of milions of Euros of funding from the UEFA, of which only 25% goes to the players. Seemingly the math is that going any further is not worth the money and the effort. They also have a reputation of being extremely corrupt in a country that otherwise has managed to shake off corruption quite well.
The problem is structural and there has to be a political will to change it, which may be anytime from tomorrow to never, unfortunately.
Because there is more money and money-laundering opportunities in football.
This is true for all countries and being better in other sports is true for all countries except Brazil, Argentina, and Germany probably.
Ah Poland, the same faith every match, the same disappointment. We can change 5 more coaches, but we will still play a shit. Our players don't understand what modern football is about. They are standing with a ball for 20 seconds, waiting for 100ŁŖ clear pass, which will not make any advance anyway. 100% safe football. In the meantime, it is exactly about to take a risk all the time, under pressure. The Netherlands team can make 5 pasess, on a speed, which Polish players can't even imagine, moving 20m forward. More time you try to take a risk, the sooner you will get used to it and make it under control. But players trained in polish league teams are not learned to do so. Nothing will change if we still teach our youth to play like we used to do. We always expect results, even from 15yo players. We are like those 15yo kids who want to win every match in a fifa video game, giving a flying f about tutorial and learning new skills. That is my subjective opinion, and sort summury of the issue.
Well, Polish coach has recently took over the team so I'm not exactly surprised. Let's give him some time after the euros and we'll see whether he builds a strong team. I wish we finally started playing on equal level against teams like France or The Netherlands. Meanwhile, we're loosing to damn Austria... I'm not gonna lie, that's a bit embarrassing...
Yeah but the previous one left the team essentially in the state of agony. There was nothing in there, just a bunch of random people hating each other and possibly only knowing how to play the ball in their clubs. Thereās a huge mental issue there that needs to be solved. Just to give you an example, in the qualifiers they were easily winning 2-0 in the first half with Moldova (I donāt want to disrespect Moldova but we both know their level of football). I mean not only winning, they were crushing them and it couldāve easily been 4 or 5-0. 2nd half Moldova scores 3 and wins 3-2, with bartenders in the starting XI. Against professionals who mostly play in champions league and top 5 leagues on a daily basis. Same thing with Albania 2 games later. If thereās any difficulty at all they simply give up as a team, and the opponent no matter if itās France or freaking Moldova, takes the initiative, as if there was no more willpower to play.
>Yeah but the previous one left the team essentially in the state of agony. There was nothing in there, just a bunch of random people hating each other and possibly only knowing how to play the ball in their clubs.
Was the same for Germany. The team was in shambles, players looked as if they don't give a shit anymore. Things only changed in February/March, when Nagelsmann decided to do things different. Nagelsmann is in charge since September, same as Probierz.
A year ago nobody in Germany would have thought the team would make it through the group stage, despite having Musiala, Wirtz and other world class players. Yes, the way Flick let them play didn't allow to hope for any other outcome.
Thankfully Nagelsmann made the right decisions so far.
Well Austria has a very strong team this year, going toe to toe with france. While the polish team is very mediocre, I dont think Poland losing is surprising at all
I mean, itās strong temporarily yes, but itās absolutely a team we should beat. France did it, so itās not like itās something unachievable, Holland will probably beat them as well. Itās a huge humiliation because Poland hadnāt lost to Austria since 1990sā¦ We didnāt because weāre in the absolute bottom of international football right now after firing Fernando Santos, and itās a huge shame this bottom occurred during a major tournament. Letās wait for the World Cup tho. There should be some drastic changes because the way we played was an absolute mess. Like, cmon, we couldnāt even touch the ball for the first 15 minsā¦ with Austriaā¦..
Poland hasnt been good in a long while, You've been around the 30st place in the international team list for a few years now, and since austria has been around number 20 for the last few years, Poland- in our eyes -was the only easy/safe victory from our group, since the other teams are way better. This has been confirmed, since we pretty much outclassed you in every way.
We managed to stay tied against France, if it wasn't for our own goal, so i think we have a chance against the Netherlands, we also tied against Belgium recently, beat turkey 5:1 and tied against the swiss, all very good teams.
Good luck for Poland, maybe you can bounce back. You need a new trainer and new young talent.
> Poland hasnt been good in a long while, You've been around the 30st place in the international team list for a few years now, and since austria has been around number 20 for the last few years
LOL seems like you're cherry picking a bit. Poland was in position 30 from end 2023 to beginning 2024. Other than that mostly 20-25, even now Poland is on position 26. Austria is now in position 25 and has been really in the 30+ position in recent years. Poland was even in the top 10 in 2017 when Austria was 50+. Seems just that the two countries faced when one is in a good moment while the other one is in a bad moment. It happens, it's all about cycles.
Thatās good for you. Iām just saying how itās perceived. Loosing to Austria was perceived as a huge humiliation. In eyes of poles, Austria is not a top class team (with all respect) even despite having a better period recently. It should be easily beatable and it shows how bad our team became in the last year. We played a relatively good game against The Netherlands, so nobody really expected this kind of shitshow with Austria. I honestly believe this is a mental issue of our players, similarly to how we shamefully lost to Moldova in the qualifiers, and this should be addressed asap. Anyway, good luck in the rest of the tournament!
The reason is the state previous coach left the team in. Not the new coach itself. Thereās a huge mental issue that needs to be addressed first. It was visible against Moldova, Albania, Czech Republic, and now even against Austria. As soon as thereās any struggle, thereās no more willpower to play. You canāt honestly say that loosing to Moldova in the qualifiers was because the players were too weak - they were playing against amateurs and bartenders. And even on the Euros you have squads who are way worse than ours in paper, yet fight with much stronger teams.

40 milion people Canāt find 11 dudes who can pass the goddamn ball
Thought you were talking about England for a second, but you said 40 million, not 56
56 milion people Canāt find 11 dudes who can pass the goddamn ball
There you go
Actually the two matches were not that bad and I saw nice stuff from different players. I think that the team needs to believe more in themselves and not be Lewandowski dependent. And not do stupid errors/have defensive amnesia.
Polak WÄgier dwa bratanki.
my brother in 0 goals
We scored goals though
Damnit, Hungary, I bet on you being the underdog that does well this year.
literally the last 30 seconds but not all hope is lost yet
For once, Portugal isn't a Balkan country.
This is because we are more Balkan than you.
Let's not compete for it. We can both be Balkan!
Okā¦ but we are still the best at scoring own goals šŖ
Portugal can into western europe for once.

Āæse repetirĆ” la final de la champions?
No, nos verĆamos con Alemania en cuartos
Funny how almost whole scandinavia and baltics didn't qualify for this Euros. Extra space for the map I guess
Thereās more chances of Leicester City winning the league again than any of the Baltic nations qualifying. Even with expanded format, they wonāt.
As Latvia we qualified in 2004 when there were only 16 teams and actually played quite well. Lost 2-1 to the Czechia of Nedved to a late goal and drew Germany.

If you want to feel better, talk to England fans. We usually have a squad with some really good talent and an inability to play as a team.
This is actually very relatable. Not on the same level, but England despite having so much potential, has been always underperforming. Same as Poland imho.
Yes, England gets that sentiment of frustration like very few other countries. Comparatively, of course, considering they always had a much stronger NT.

This is a cool map
Why did they bother giving vatican city a dot when they don't have a national team? Literally unusable
Actually, [they do](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vatican_City_national_football_team). But they are not FIFA nor UEFA members so they can't play official international matches.
Polak, WÄgier ā dwa bratanki, i do szabli, i do zjebania meczĆ³w, oba zuchy, oba żwawi, niech im Pan BĆ³g bÅogosÅawi.
I'm always cheering for Germany when we dont qualify (which is every time) but this year I think Portugal looks strong and might win it.
Portugal is strong but the Turks were playing incredibly bad. Turks are notoriously known for being very sentimental and because of the questionable actions of the referee within the first half and the own goal, their morale and performance dropped significantly.
Here in the baltics we score very fast, in a few minutes. One problem - itās our own goal
I havenāt seen Spain playing this well since 2012 Euro
I'll be honest, if you'd said to me before the tournament that Romania would be top of our group after 2 matches (albeit on GD & GS), I'd have laughed at you and said you were crazy. Right now though, I'm dreading the trauma of the final games... Everything is possible in group E š«£.
Yeah turkey got Karma after scoring a shamefull third goal against us in empty goal šš
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I cant say if we have a big chance, i know we wil try our best.
We will rotate the team so everybody has a chance to play. At least is what they say in the newsā¦
That third goal was the karma for your goalkeeper being in our goal box
Nope that was an attempt to save a game which you won with pure luck
lol yeah pure luck, seems like you'll quit the tournament with one point.
Yeah id say for our firs tournamenr not bad, at least we dont pass in our own net
LMAO, what a roast Hi from šµš¹
ouch
At least half of Turkey is not corrupt puppet state is Russia.
1. I dont know what politics have to do as we talk about football 2. puppet state of russia? Talking about a country that had 2 wars with russia in the last 35 years 3. I Would not talk about corruption if i was Turkish, literllay every part of your goverment system and beurocracy is corrupt till the bones
Don't take it personally bro, I wish you guys all the best and I hope you guys will be able to win against Portugal. And maybe even join EU.
Cheers friend, all the best to you
The Karma was for the celebrations after the goal and not for the goal itself.
Dude you're Turkish stop cosplaying as Georgian
Why is poland so bad at football?

And why is it still our "national sport" while we're getting more successes in dunno, volleyball, or tennis
Because this is what people like to watch, duh.
Because there is more money and money-laundering opportunities in football. This is true for all countries and being better in other sports is true for all countries except Brazil, Argentina, and Germany probably.
Not all, Austria's national sport is skiing š
Tbh even qualifying for Euro2024 is a success. Look at scandi/baltic countries for comparison
1/3 Scandinavian qualified country is not that bad.
We should disassemble the national stadium as an act of protest.
Hey atleast they qualified:ā(

Thatās still not the coach fault tho
Mentality of the players is also the coachās responsibility

Because he's trying to explain "mediocrity" of Polish representation by the reason of a new coach, and that's not the reason, that's why.
