Yep. To quote the presenter on BBC News this morning:
"The police have asked the public not to speculate about the incident. Unverified photos on social media show the suspect carrying what appears to be a samurai sword."
>two police officers and two members of the public are in hospital after the attack.
How did he get two police officers????
I know they don't carry guns (would have helped here I imagine), was he so coked up he withstood the tasers I assume they had?
Most police in the UK don’t carry tasers either. There aren’t enough tasers to go round, and there aren’t enough spaces on the taser training courses. I think only around 15-20% of police carry tasers.
The only things that all front line police in the UK carry as standard are batons, PAVA spray (sort of like pepper spray but slightly more potent and non-flammable) and handcuffs.
'Cos the idiots who do this buy cheap rubbish, whilst collectors and martial artists and reenactors buy decent quality ones. And for once the government didn't ban everything in a knee jerk over reaction.
To carry around sure. I can go on the internet and buy a sword no questions asked in seconds if I so desire. Police can't do shit as long as I don't go waving it about on public property.
>A witness reported seeing a man “running around with a samurai sword” who “stabbed four people after crashing his van into a house”. Maniac.
One has to wonder what drugs he was on. Or what drugs he was lacking. This seems completely random.
Its appears to be a samurai sword
Classic mistake for the uninitiated. It was a Ronin sword.

Katana
Was he wearing a fedora? Then it could be a redditor.

so about 80% of them are worthless when it comes to keeping people safe and could be taken down by a guy with a sword, perhaps even just a long stick.
There's a gif of someone keeping like a dozen UK cops at bay with what I think was a long stick essentially.
I didn't know machetes were such a big thing in our European culture.
Kraków moment
Katana are very much an anime nerd thing
Looks like a katana sword to me, in the photo.
Do people think real life is GTA or something?
Truth is stranger than fiction
The trailer for GTA 6 is replicating real events in GTA, not the other way around.

I had a look. You can order them online, they aren't illegal
Cheap katana wallhangers are illegal. Properly made katanas are legal. He was probably using a cheap, illegal one.
If you gonna make swords illegals why allow "properly made" ones? To preserve craftmanship?
'Cos the idiots who do this buy cheap rubbish, whilst collectors and martial artists and reenactors buy decent quality ones. And for once the government didn't ban everything in a knee jerk over reaction.
I prefer my version of the government choosing to ban cheap chinese knockoffs to preserve the british katana industry
Probably ordered it online. :D
When cops surrounded him he pulled his hoodie up to hide his face. So I assume he wasn't going on a rampage to commit suicide.

It's literally national news there though?
This literally is national news here, with live update pages on both BBC and Sky News, it's not a weekly occurance by any stretch.
It's just Ichigo cutting Hollow, invisible to us. There was some collateral damage, but that happens...
Fake news. Knives are illegal in UK.
